Place is there for as long as I can remember. Very little has changed in last 20 years. I had Westerville omelet today. Came with ham, green peppers, onion, mushroom, tomatoes. Not oily and on the lighter side- the way I like. Came with a large portion of stir fried potatoes lightly seasoned with black pepper and wheat toast. Didn't really care for anything we ordered. Potato chucks were way too big. The sausage gravy was absolutely horrible. Not sure what spices they put in there but whatever it was it didn't belong in sausage gravy. We ordered crispy bacon and it was flimsy and soft. I immediately felt bad after eating there. Maybe we hit on a bad day but in any case we won't be back. Service was very slow and it wasn't even busy. read more

We came to Westerville Grill after going to 10:30 Mass right down the road, the restaurant had a nice crowd some of which I saw at Mass. We were seated promptly and our server came over and took our beverage order and gave us a few minutes to check out the menu especially since I had mentioned it was our first time. After browsing the menu I had decided on the corned beef hash and my girlfriend had an omelette with spinach and other veggies. Service was very fast and friendly, I did add Salt and pepper to my dish, but that's my own preference. We will be back to check out the Westerville Grill for lunch/dinner. My sister and I are in town for a teachers' conference. We both have our school credit cards to pay for our meals and hotel while attending the conference. Since schools are tax exempt, we gave the waitress our tax exempt numbers from our schools so that tax wouldn't be applied to our bills. I have used the school credit card and tax exempt number at stores, hotels, and restaurants for the past 30 years and every vendor has understood how to input a tax exempt number. The waitress, not understanding what it means for a school system to be tax exempt, screamed at us, calling attention to the entire restaurant, and insisted just because we were teachers, we should still pay our taxes! She was angry and rude and belittled us in front of all of the other customers, yelling that she never wanted us to set foot in that restaurant, ever again! Uhhhh. No problem, Helen. No problem. I hope at some point, she realizes we're not two idiots trying to get out of paying taxes. We always pay all of our taxes while using our own credit cards. We were simply using school credit cards that, by law, can't be charged tax. read more

Yikes, not sure how this place has so many great reviews. This was bad. We tried this place for breakfast. The food was subpar and the service was horrible. Our server took our order and we never saw her again. I also watched as she deliberately passed our table and walked to two others asking if they needed anything after their food had been served. Her attitude suggested that she had something against us!? It was very odd. The girl bussing our table did everything and was the only one around to ask for something! When our food came (delivered by yet another server), we asked for a plate. Never received one so the grease and hot sauce from my burrito ended up dripping through the table and onto my dress. Asking for napkins was time-consuming and took until the end of the meal to receive. And the french toast was bland and just bad. We will never be back. read more

I and one of my associates went to Westerville Grill for lunch because they advertise that they have "steak and eggs" on the menu. We were very disappointed, not only with the steak and eggs, but also with the service. I ordered my steak "medium rare" and what I received was "very rare". I asked them to put it on the grill so that it would qualify as "medium rare" and when the waitress brought it back, it was well done and so tough that I could hardly cut it. As for the service, I can't remember when I have received worse. The bottom line is that our dining experience at the Westerville Grill was memorable for all the wrong reasons. I have no idea how this place gets 4 stars. First, and foremost, it's filthy. The condiment containers on the tables all have dried ketchup and mustard on them. If they can't even keep those clean, god only knows what their kitchen looks like. Which drives me crazy: Even if you are a business owner on a tight budget, it doesn't cost more to be clean. Soak you condiment bottles in hot water, for goodness sake. My coffee had a burnt taste, so they either need to make a fresh pot more often, or clean their coffee pots (judging by the condiments, I'd say it's probably the latter) My BLT had no mayonnaise on it. And, no, don't ask for clarification, just know that my worries were settled by our lovely waitress. We were able to divert the dilemma, no one hurt in the process. The food's classic diner fair. I got their veggie omelet, added sausage for some extra protein. I can't comment on the side of home-style potatoes. The space is small. I was very surprised we got seated right away. Stopped in tonight during Westerville's Fourth Friday. We've been in before to enjoy their breakfasts - the chorizo hash is absolutely fantastic & a ton of food! Tonight We ordered the fried green beans, they were excellent. Fresh, crispy and cooked well with a great fresh green bean flavor. The thick ranch dressing was a perfect dip accompaniment. So good! I ordered the buffalo chicken wrap with tots for dinner & my husband ordered the fish & chips. The wrap was stuffed full of big chunks of grilled chicken breast, romaine lettuce & tomato as well as an overwhelming (to me) amount of shredded cheddar cheese. The spice level was good. I just took out a lot of the cheese. The tots were great, not a lot of them but I didn't need a lot after sharing the appetizer. My husband's fish & chips came with two hush puppies (could have had more of those, they were good). The fish was crispy on the outside without being overcooked the chips were like fair fries, perfect with malt vinegar. Definitely a dinner sized portion. I pass this place all the time and always wish I could go in for breakfast before work. I had an opportunity to have a late breakfast/early lunch recently with my husband during a work day and we chose to come and sit on the patio. I am giving 3 stars due to great service. My meal just wasn't that good. The sweet tea tasted like instant, and my breakfast sandwich wasn't made well. I ordered this Uptown Walking Sandwich without the bacon or sausage. I added tomato and spinach. I was asked what kind of cheese so I chose mozzarella. I was asked how I wanted the eggs cooked and I said over easy (mistake). It was messy and although the bread appeared to be grilled, it was not grilled with the tomato and spinach on it. They were just thrown on after the fact. I think the ideal breakfast sandwich has a folded egg...cooked like an omelet. Not sure how else to describe it, but they should just make it like that instead of asking for a preference. I know I reviewed the last place at this address and probably the one before that also. I would say that this one probably tops them all though. Let's see....parking: plenty of it both on the street (no meters) and in their own lot. The decor is straight forward diner style. All they're missing is a jukebox. The food is great! I started off with a bowl of homemade split pea soup. Good texture and plenty of ham chunks. Then I went with my main course which I saw on their web site; an "uptown scramble" which had bacon, sausage, eggs, and plenty of other stuff in it. Yummy! For desert, the waitress told me they served pies from "Just Pies" and that was enough for me. I gobbled down a piece of their custard with coconut and merangue. All in all, a VERY good meal. And they're close enough to me that I'll be able to go back as often as I want. read more

This is my favorite weekend breakfast spot. I have been here multiple times and have never been disappointed. Service is always good, price is nice and decent portions. The majority of my meals have been breakfast, excellent corned beef hash (not out the can) huge delicious pumpkin pancakes (may be seasonal) and good coffee! A lot of the tables seemed to know each other and seems to be a Westerville hangout. Ordered: Eggs Benedict-good flavor, nothing fancy. Canadian bacon could've been crispier for my taste. Nice portion and shared one with my hubby. Served with potatoes that were crunchy. French Toast-Generous portion, Not too heavy with the custard. Short Stack-For the little one. Wandered in on semi-busy Thursday night. We chose to eat inside, it was pretty humid to sit on their plastic enclosed patio. Service was slow; my guess they were understaffed for some reason. The two servers were really working hard. The kitchen was keeping up nicely, but the servers did have promptness issues. It's about the food, so here goes. Wife had the salad with chicken. She enjoyed it immensely and the portion was very good. She was happy. I had the liver and onions with mashed and green beans. It was really good and I think it would stack it up against anybody else doing this dish. And all for the nice price of 10.99. Good taste, nice portion, and well cooked. Bravo on both dishes. We needed to get to a show so we did not have desert, but they did feature locally owned Just Pies; which I know to be great. Floor and restaurant were well tended to. Thanks for that. This is a diner in the suburb I which I grew up but have only first experienced it this weekend. I wished I had found it sooner (or tried it sooner). My friend brought me here for lunch Friday afternoon. The place was pretty busy with locals. Uptown Westerville, where the diner is located, has plenty of municipal lots as well as street parking (all of which are free). We sat outside in the covered patio. The menu had your standard diner fare ranging from breakfast items to burgers and sandwiches to soups and salads. I opted for the turkey club with onion rings and my friend had the veggie burger. He liked his lunch and I loved mine! The club was perfect and did not have too much mayo. The onion rings were excellent and not too greasy. Our waitress was very helpful and service was very good. Prices are very reasonable and the portions decent while the food itself was good (i.e. overall great value). I will be back the next time I am visiting the parents! read more

Visited with my daughter while in town for a volleyball camp.. she had the ribeye, with mashed potatoes and green beans. I had the buffalo chicken wrap with fries. Sat on the patio, got a bit wet while it was raining. The awning has leaks, but it's a nice place to sit and eat. No alcohol here. Not a downside, but if you're looking to have a drink with dinner, you may want to consider elsewhere? On to the food... My wrap was fantastic! Flavorful chicken along with the hot sauce. Fries were a bit under done, but still good! The ribeye and green beans were spot on with seasoning and flavor. However, the mashed potatoes were strange to say the least. No butter or salt, and I think instead of a dairy product or chicken stock to help loosen things up a bit, tasted like they only used the boiling water to make them? They came out very gelatinous, and bland. They were skin on, so the skin is basically the only thing that gave them flavor. Server was friendly and attentive, although it was a Monday night, and there were only a few other people in there with us. This is a good, solid hometown grill. Probably like 3.75 stars but I'll give it a 4. Food is good, fries are above average. Kids meals are reasonably priced. I had the Monte Cristo sandwich and it was pretty awesome. Kids had burgers and the bite I had was good. They also offer pies from just pies and I can tell you that there are no bad pies from there. Not bad. It's a diner in appearance and delivery - but I still had a beer with a friend for lunch. Came here for lunch on an off-chance to try somewhere new - had the pesto grilled chicken, which was really good, and my friend had a make-shift Chicken Parm (with grilled chicken) and he enjoyed his as well. It's a bit off the beaten path, but it's in a good area that may mean I pop in more often. Based on what everyone has said though, I evidently need to return for breakfast :) read more

I have been to this little gem in Westerville several times. I usually order the corned beef hash, but decided to opt for something different... pancakes with a side of bacon. I was very disappointed. The pancakes were just okay, but the bacon was very disappointing. It was cold and tasted "old", the coffee was watery without a distinguished taste. We were unfortunately at the unbalanced table, so it was an active game of "don't touch the table and spill our drinks". I ordered milk to help with the dry pancakes, was sad it tasted slightly spoiled. Nonetheless, I'll just chalk this visit up to an off day. Will I visit again?? Of course!
