A nice little dive bar in the Westerwood neighborhood here in Greensboro. The inside has low lighting with lots of seating, a pool table, a board game table, and 2 bathrooms. The outside also has a nice patio with a roof for those who wish to sit outside. I know that there are some days that there are certain events held here like book club or even drag show! I know Thursdays there is free pool (so get there at a good time) and Tuesdays and Fridays there is Karaoke. When it comes to drinks I would say that the price is very fair. The bar tenders are very attentive. Also since a lot of their regulars come here it's easy for them to know what you want. My go to here is a white russian. It's really good and if you enjoy things coffee flavored definitely give it a try. Overall I've always had a great time here at Westerwood. The environment is super welcoming and the service is great. If you want to explore a new scene and get out of downtown this is the place to be. read more

Westerwood has held a place in my heart for about 13 years. This homey dive always feels like a welcoming spot. While I no longer live in the area, so you couldn't call me a regular anymore, I still love Westerwood. Here you can find friendly bartenders who feel like friends. A variety of draft beers, affordable liquor pricing, and a cooler of cans & bottles. It's very likely you'll be able to find something that hit the drink itch you might have. Over the years it's gotten brighter and cleaner inside but it's still that perfect homey drive. If you're in GSO looking for a bar to call home, don't skip over Westerwood. Dive bars have a tendency to look intimidating to me when I first walk in and ruin my perception of the establishment, but this is not and was never the case at Westerwood. I haven't been to a bar with a more welcoming atmosphere. By your 3rd or 4th time here, the bartenders start to recognize you and call you by name. I've never seen anyone get into a negative confrontation here, which is saying a lot because sometimes at dive bars you get those pretty often. They run daily specials, like everything is a dollar off on Wednesdays, karaoke on Friday nights, there's a $3 shot day (what day of the week it is is escaping my mind right now), and they have a moderately expansive draft selection. This "Dive" bar was magical. I met a few co-workers and be bonded over Red Stripe, jello shots, and shots of gin, tequila, and vodka. It's hard to low star a dive bar. It's kind of its own niche and should only get a 5 star if it's truly a dive. This is a true dive bar, nestled in a neighborhood next to homes/business/etc. Tip: Don't park in the parking lot, as I'm guess that people are getting towed often. Drinks are cheap, people are from all walks of life and you will literally see any particular type of person in there. I'm the year round, shorts, flip flops client. Westerwood is my favorite bar I've been to in Greensboro. I visited it the last two times I was in the city thanks to finding it on Yelp. One thing you have to say off the bat is it is out of the way. This isn't a bar that can easily be a stop while bar hopping unfortunately, thanks to its rather remote location. However, it is a very laid-back bar that is full of character. It has a nice small selection of taps of good craft beer, and a wide selection of bottles that is extremely well curated. Was very impressed by the selection of beers they had. It has a indoor area with some tables and bar games and a nice outdoor patio area to hang. It had a hipster type crowd, but very eclectic mix of people and very friendly. I ended up in conversations with other customers both times I've been. I'm glad I found this place and will continue to support it when I am in Greensboro. A very good dive bar. read more

I have been searching for a bar just like this for years. Here in the "new" south going to a bar means a franchised piece of crap....not this place! This is a place to simply have a beer and talk to a complete stranger for hours. No food, no live bands, no soup of the day.....just an honest place right in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Westerwood is my go to bar for... everything, I guess. I like to play darts there (there's only one dart board), but the regulars are friendly and it's easy to make new friends there! The bartenders are awesome. It's a dive bar, pretty much. It used to be a real, true, dirty dive bar prior to new ownership (years ago), but it's cleaner now with some upgrades. It's still casual and comfy if you prefer low-key, non-fancy, filled with locals bar. People of all ages come to Westerwood. It's in the college area and located directly in the pretty Westerwood neighborhood. (Lake Daniel park is very close by.) I've been coming to Westerwood for over 5 years and I will continue to come back. Side note: There's one pool table, a pinball machine, and one of those golf game machine things. There's also one of the game machines that are attached to the bar where you can do puzzles and card games. The Touch Tunes juke box is awesome here as it isn't a total rip off like many of the touch tunes I've come across in Greensboro and in other cities. I use my cell phone app to buy credits. You can spend $5 bucks and get 20 credits. I think it's 2 credits per song. Not a bad deal at all. Other Touch Tunes take 3-4 credits for a song, or if it's 2 credits per song the credits cost more. Like $5 would only get you ten credits. What I'm trying to say is, the touch tunes isn't a rip off, basically. There's an outdoor patio/seated area that wraps around one side of the bar. The bar keeps board games on hand if you so please to sit around at the front table/wrap around bench area and play. They have puzzles too. Outside they have a big jenga type block thing. Sometimes they have live music and they also have dance parties and other big parties on weekend nights. With regards to crowdedness, Westerwood can get packed and other times it can seem dead. The regulars tend to come around 4 or 5 and stay late. I don't prefer to come when it's super crowded with mostly college kids, but it's fun any time either way. Noise level can range from quiet to loud depending on the crowd. I love you Westerwood! read more

Super chill, outdoor seating, pool table and juke box. All types of patrons, in terms of both age and culture (hipsters, older folks, professional types, Gen X'ers, college kids, etc). Affordable drinks in general, awesome drink specials, great bartenders. I do wish the draft glasses were larger, but you can't have it all. They have the most awesome karaoke Friday nights... best I've ever seen. The crowd was friendly and very enthusiastic, and the staff seemed to be digging it. They also do potluck events, which is beyond awesome. Westerwood is within walking distance to downtown Greensboro (Elm Street area I mean). It's also just over half a mile from the baseball stadium. I have actually been to the pub in many of its reincarnations. I am pretty impressed with this newest version. There is a wide generational span which adds to a very nice mix. I am most impressed with how they strive to bring their patrons new experiences along with wonderful drink specials. All bars can sell you alcohol but not all bars can give you a unique experience like Westerwood does . Chili Cookoff to dance parties to karaoke you never know what to know what they're cooking up next. And Wednesday is one of my favorite days it's $1.25 day on all domestics and what a relaxing spot after a hard day at the office. I definitely give this spot a thumbs up. read more

This has been my and my friends' favorite place/bar, both while attending UNCG and a few years afterward. They have a good selection of music and different genres on the jukebox. We have never had to wait more than 5min for a refills. Overall, the crowd is very welcoming with the exception of stares from some older man and his wingman. If you're a young woman, I wouldn't advise going alone after sundown unless you have any kind of defense, just in case. That is just an extreme caution, but there's nothing public around that's open and at night it's just safer to call a taxi or Über to get home and get your car back in the AM. One of our favorite dives in the city. It's a cozy hole in the wall; a mix of well-acquainted patrons and infrequent visitors. A very welcoming experience for first time guests, so don't shy away. The bartenders are great; very friendly and provide fast service. After a few visits, they will quickly learn your name and drink preference. Drink prices are very reasonable. The environment is LGBTQ and POC friendly; it's truly a mix of various ages, genders, and demographics. There are planned nightly events such as trivia and karaoke, so you always know what's going on. It can get quite crowded some nights, so arrive before 11 for a more quiet experience (a conversation with a close friend or journaling). My favorite things about Westerwood are the unassigned restrooms (there's rarely a wait), and the curbside parking, which is great if you're stopping by for a light weeknight drink after work or even on the weekend. read more
