Super fast service! Very kind staff. One item came out not quite right and the staff fixed it immediately! Very large portions and delicious food. Our only problems was that we had too much food! Very nice patio with soft music and great views of the mountains. Overall amazing experience.

Great food!! Not the blow-my-mind out of the world great, but delicious, filling and lives-up-to-its expectations kind of food. I was looking for a restaurant where we could walk in and get seated. Westside cafe uses Yelp for their wait-list and I think we got lucky showing up when we did (8:40 am on a Sat), as there was no wait. Within about 20 mins though, there was a wait-list. The cafe has a cafe in the mountains feel - wooden architecture with pictures of mountains and skiers. They have the same metal mountain cut outs that I have at home! The servers are nice and there is decent parking right outside the cafe. For the cold loving people, you have seating outside too. We ordered the Chilaquiles, dirty Biscuits and gravy, and avocado toast, with a couple of cups of Hot Chocolate and Freshly squeezed orange juice. Of the three, the Chilaquiles were the best - spicy, crunchy, great balance of eggs and cream with the spicy sauce, and avocado slices to top the whole thing off. The biscuits and gravy, and the avocado toast were also very good, but not as good as the Chilaquiles. The hot chocolate was excellent as was the orange juice (very fresh, you could taste the pulp). Pricing wise, reasonable for Vail. Gorgeous views outside! Highly recommend!

Our first morning in Vail, we walked over to the Westside Cafe and were pleasantly surprised at how great this place was. First thing, hot coffee, refilled several times - not many places get that right, just sayin'. From the everything bagel & lox to the eggs benedict, avocado toast and chicken and waffles, each dish was filling with great flavor. These guys know how to make breakfast. We wound up visiting a few times during the trip, that's how good it was. If you're in Vail and looking for a good breakfast, this is definitely the place to go.

Basic ham and eggs. Mostly hash browns.

The food was good and cooked to order but smaller portions and Vail high prices. Ambiance was nice and summer quiet.

It's a nice traditional breakfast joint compared to all the boujee crap in Vail. The prices are a bit high for the serving size, but it's Vail. The B&G and CFS were $20 each and glass of OJ was $8! You can't really mess up breakfast but the CFS is not homemade and was small. Probably the size of a pop tart. Overall it was better than any place in Vail.

Our server, Matej, started us off on the right foot with his enthusiasm and charm! We loved the orange juice, so delicious. Our food was fantastic as well. We had an order of the Hangover Skillet - three eggs!, chicken fried steak that was cooked perfectly and lean, and the split Benny with bison and chicken &waffle. The menu says it's all fresh and handmade and we could tell! Please try this gem when in the area.

Chilling in the same seat I sat in when I lived here for 26 years. The memories are priceless.:)

I've been coming to this establishment since it's opened. I was a regular, seven day a week customer. They have the most consistent tasty menu in the valley. The service is impeccable, and the recipes are spot on. Thank you, Brad, for welcoming me back, Mike, Steve and Ryan. Sorry I missed you, but I'll be back at lunch with my renters to dine again today..... This, place is beautiful!

The patio area is beautiful and the service is good! The problem is the amount of food for the price. It was $18.95 for about 4 bites of Corned Beef Hash. The flavor was excellent, but I cannot see coming back for that cost.

We're staying at the Grand Hyatt, which has been... fine. Meh, if we're being honest. A local recommended Mountain Standard, so we tried to make a reservation on OpenTable and quickly learned they were booked solid until tomorrow (a great data point, btw). But, being the swarthy pirates that we are, we showed up anyway; and thank sweet baby Jesus, we found two seats at the bar. Our barkeep, Gummow, a fellow swarthy pirate, was excellent in every possible way. His bar back, Rowan, could not have been a better support man. Together, they delivered the kind of service that makes you remember why hospitality is an art form. And the food? Absolutely to die for. My girlfriend had the oxtail, and I had the mock paella. Both were incredible. The service, the food, the environment; every facet was dialed in. We will be going back tomorrow for lunch, possibly dinner, and possibly to inquire about monthly rent. As a former service industry worker myself, real recognize real. This place and these people are it. Mountain Standard is iconic and must be protected at all costs.

The gondola is cool because we had our own speak to play whatever we pleased! It felt very private and intimate which I really enjoyed. For drinks I tried their feuerzangenbowle and the muled wine. My husband got a Hugo spritz and jagertee. I loved my drinks the feuerzangenbowle uses flambé which was so cool!, it's pretty similar to the muled wine. Muled wine is always a favorite of mine when the weather gets cold! We added on a fondue, ordered the raclette that came on our fixed menu and added on steak, along with the pretzel that comes as an appetizer. The food was really good, I think it is also just so cozy and suiting for the cold weather! Fondue and raclette are also just such a fun way to dine! Highly recommend and definitely will be back just to try the standard experience too without the gondola.

I consider myself a professional diner...meaning I am out 3-4 nights a week, and Northside Kitchen is my most favorite restaurant in the Vail Valley. I usually dine at the bar where either Connor or Brandon are not only offering service with a smile, but are also welcoming everyone who walks through the door! Their custom cocktails are awesome, but I go for their insanely extensive wine by the glass menu!! Caymus, Silver Oak, Duckhorn, Quilt, and about 40 other high end wines are all offered by the glass at Northside! Both 6oz and 9oz pours are available. The dining staff, are professional, pressed, and knowledgeable about wine, food, and professional fine dining service levels. The dining room offers beautiful white linen covered in butchers paper, with the perfect level of lighting to see both the menu and the guests you are dining with. The dining room and porch are modern and clean. The menu items, created by Chef Noah Bender, are delicious! Hand cut steaks and Prime Rib are favs, but don't be afraid to try their pappardelle Bolognese or the fantastic fresh "sea to table" black cod or trout! It's dynamite! You will find the service in the dining room attentive yet not overwhelming. Northside Kitchen to me is one of the most underrated fine dining restaurants in the Vail Valley!! Definitely go give this great spot a try!!

And to stumble upon this chic and inconspicuous cocktail bar in the busy downtown was something I wasn't expecting and became a treat after a nice stroll through the town after dinner in my hotel room. From the moment I stepped inside, I knew I was at the place where my heart was calling for. There were two gents at the bar and one of them warmly greeted me and said I could sit anywhere I would like. I hence picked one of the bar seats. Except one table that was occupied by a couple I was the only one. I appeared to have picked the right time; I had the whole bar to myself (eventually though, several different groups of people streamed in; only a few of them sat at the bar close to me. The bar was spacious enough to comfortably accommodate a little over 10 people.) Jeremy, who greeted me upon arrival, was a super host. As soon as I explained that wine is my usual got-to, he said he could mix and match reds and whites to create a "flight" based on what I had told him as to my likings. His extensive explanations as to what sorts of reds and whites the bar offers/serves was (of course) all in his memory. His eloquent speech with no filler words truly impressed me; he sure is a wine connoisseur. What he picked for me were... -2024 Pepiere "Les Gras Moutons" (Muscadet) -Kobal "Bajta", Hazole Belo (aka Orange Wine) -Sandlands "Red Table Wine (Lodi Red Blend) With his wealth of knowledge, after giving him only a hint of what I liked, what Jeremy selected for me to sample/sip was a superb choice. All of them were world-class excellence with elegance and beauty. I carefully and slowly sipped each one little by little to truly immerse myself in the art of wine. Yes, wine is a piece of art for sure. I think I said it correctly at the beginning of this review. This is a cocktail bar with variety of spirits which Jeremy could easily concoct just about anything from gin-based one to vodka-based one to tequila-based ones to whiskey-based one to name several. For those who don't drink, their zero-proof section also has something interesting to browse and choose. Not to mention, rotating pilsner or IPA on tap to name a few from the beer section as well. If you need a little bite to eat, their (changing) food menu has a good number of New American-style plates. The bar originally opened in a different building back in 2015 (I believe). They moved to the current location in 2019. They also offer various different classes so you can expand/extend your knowledge. So for your next foodie vacation in Vail, make sure to include Root & Flower in your list.
