Service was wonderful and warm and friendly when I picked up my order. You order at a kiosk, and then get a text message when it's ready. I was very very happy with my garlic noodles ($11 for just noodles) with chicken ($18 total.) The portion was huge so I shared some with my partner and my friend and her partner! The noodles were delicious and very garlicky, and the portion of chicken was huge! It's fried, lightly-sauced chicken and was succulent and juicy, no bones. This is my 2nd time ordering from WH42. I ordered the Chicken Plate this time. Like in my first review, the flavors were topnotch. It's well-balanced, not too salty, and still flavorful. The chicken was juicy and crispy. The glaze was kind of sweet, fruity, and had a bit of soy sauce flavor in there. The rice texture is MUCHHHH better than last time. It's more aldente now. We were looking for lunch and happened upon this food truck yard. While walking around, this place instantly caught my eye. It was a one man crew but the guy running the truck was able to pump out the food in a timely manner while having a friendly conversation with a couple sitting nearby. I was kind of eavesdropping and all I could hear was how complimentary the couple was with how great the food was. Once I got my food and popped open the container, I was mesmerized from how much food there was and how good it looked. After bitting into my spicy glazed chicken and garlic noodles, I instantly told the rest of the people in my party that was the best meal I've had in SF. 3.5 stars! More than okay but not quite at 4 star great just yet for me. Got the shrimp sandwich and added fries for $4! So the service was fine - no frills, order at the kiosk and go up when your name gets called. Sandwich itself was good - they have this sriracha aoili type sauce that smother on top the sandwich. The shrimps were large and fried well, shrimp was a tad underdone to my liking but my partner liked it and said they were cooked fine. My only gripe was how much sauce they put in the sandwich. The fries were good but also, when I ordered side fries I was expecting plain fries - so the overly seasoned fries just added to my disappointment because i had overly sauced soggy sandwich and seasoned to the max fries - that I originally bought to share with my toddler -- but because they were so overly spiced I had to try to pick out and wipe some of the fries so my baby could have some. Honestly - would've been a 4.5 stars with the sandwich didn't get sauced up the yinyang especially since they provide a small tub of sauce on the side - and if the fries had self seasoning option on the counter... instead of being heavily spiced as is... of course spark social gives great vibes so the food was enjoyable nonetheless. Came here on a Thursday evening during peak dinner time around 630-7pm. Ordered the Ahi Katsu plate and the pork belly small plate over rice ( no Mac salad or slaw ) both were cooked perfectly and came out between 5-10 minutes. Even for a small plate, I got three solid sized pieces of braised succulent sliced pork belly cooked in a soy based sauce over a bed of rice. I really appreciate that they have small and large sized plates considering how much food is on the menu AND all around you. I've had the ahi katsu twice , once before to go with sauce on the side and yesterday I had it with the sauce on top and both times the thick cut of ahi tuna were not only crunchy on the outside but cooked a perfect medium rare / medium which is tricky to achieve with a big piece of fish let alone tuna! Of course tuna can be eaten raw , seared, or fully cooked but to get tender tuna that is deep fried and not dry, that's impressive. Most places would've covered up the dryness of the fish by dumping sauce all over it but WH42 whipped it up with a generous drizzle but can get you cupped sauce for the ones who prefer to dip. I believe the plate had two sauces that both were not only tasty but also not overpowering and definitely tasted home(or should I say truck) made. One of them was a creamier wasabi style tartar sauce and the other was a sweeter vinegar/garlic based tangy lighter sauce that was definitely tasted chef made and not straight from a bottle onto the plate. Look say what you want about coleslaw but I love it, have had many good and bad varieties, but WH42 has a good balance of vinegar, creaminess , and crunch with no bitterness from the cabbage. The Mac salad was better than most places and the rice was cooked perfectly well, not too mushy or dry at all. They also offer chicken, pork, and ahi sandwiches (even some wigh taro buns), crispy craft wings, and loaded fry plates as well that I'll definitely have to try the next time I go. WH42 not only gives you reasonable portions for the price , quick service, but is also a solid Asian / Hawaiian fusion spot with sizes for both kinda AND hella hungry mouths amongst other trucks that are just meh in a very nice open area of Spark Social. Plenty of places to sit down and enjoy the beautiful SF Bay Area weather. Also GO NINERS! I'll be back ;) read more

I tried this place at Spark Social, which I believe is not the usual location. The chicken strips are about $11 and such a good deal. You get three good sized strips, bread, pickles, and a choice of sauce. The Magic Sauce was pleasant at first, but not flavorful enough. It is also unnecessarily aggressively purple, so definitely watch out if you're nervous about staining your clothes/fingers. The strips weren't as flavorful on their own, but tasted delicious in a sandwich. I might try this place again, but would recommend ordering a sandwich and a stronger sauce. The BEST Chicken sandwich in San Francisco. I like the grilled chicken with bacon and cheese. The bread is soft, and the coleslaw is fresh and crispy. (Add pickled onion) Customer service is on point. Staff is friendly, and they get food out in a timely manner. Parking can be a hassle, but I usually park in Costco with NO problems. You can find WH42 at 428 11 St. Right across the street from Costco in San Francisco. Monarch Gardens has a liqour truck, a barber shop, and jumpers for the kids. Overall, I give this place a 10/10. Let's start by saying that this is a very generous portion size for $10. It came with 3 chicken strips, 1 bun, pickles, and a sauce of choice (we got the magic purple sauce). I was very excited to eat it, but much to my disappointment, the sandwich was bland, other than the old frying oil taste leftover in my mouth after eating it.
