The Outdoor seating will be available tomorrow. Our overall experience was good for a new establishment. The cocktails were perfect For Appetizers we had crab cakes & clam chowder. The Crab cakes are worth ordering. The potatoes in the clam chowder needed to be cooked more. (They were hard) but it was delicious taste. Called15 min before they opened to reserve a table outside for 8 people. We asked to be seated outside and they said yes they can accommodate. We arrived and the restaurant was empty. We mentioned our reservation and the hosts started walking us upstairs to the indoor area. We told her that we requested to be seated outside and she said that they do not have outside seating for large tables. We told them that we have asked specifically prior to coming and she said she never confirmed. Our serve Victoria was amazing ! She was professional and very attentive to what we needed. She came around the table to make sure we were always good and had everything we wanted. The grilled octopus was AMAZING!!! So fresh. Out of the entrees the surf and turf tasted bomb!!! It had a little bit of to much salt but other than that no complaints. Went to Whalers and we absolutely loved it. Calamari was delicious, wedge salad so good and so generously served, that it was shared between two of us. Entrees we're also spectacular. The drinks were a bit strong, but who ever complains about that? The service was impeccable. Will repeat, and we recommend. It's a beautifully decorated dining room, with quite an ample bar area. It was a rainy Sunday down by the marina at which this lovely restaurant is located at. This was the restaurant of choice for my monthly brunch with my friends. My party had arrived a little earlier than me due to the rainy weather. When I arrived I was lead up a staircase and my friends were all there waiting for me. We were seated at a long table that had a view of the water and boats. Too bad it was a gloomy day. I started with a "manmosa." Which was a mimosa but with blue moon instead of champagne. Those of you that know me know that I love blue moon. It had a little too much ice, but it was still good. My friends went with their unlimited two hour mimosa special. I don't recall the price of the unlimited mimosas, but their glass was never empty. I wast overly hungry, so I just ordered two eggs any style with bacon. It came with home fries and a mini croissant. When it first came out, everything was hot except the eggs. I had eaten some of the bacon and potatoes while waiting for the waitress to come back. When I told her about the eggs she apologized and brought me over a whole new plate! Even though I had consumed most of the bacon, they made me a whole new plate! Who doesn't love extra bacon!! The favorite of the table was funfetti pancakes. Tyedye pancakes with icing?! You can't go wrong. My other friend ordered the French toast skillet with apples. I had a bite and it was delish!! Two of my friends wanted to order lunch instead of brunch. They ordered a wrap and a burger. They enjoyed it as well. Our waitress did a great job for my party of 10! She was patient and kind. We went for restaurant week and I was blown away by the first course the crab and corn chowder. It has a hint of spice to it with those deep seafood flavors throughout. Also paired it with the sweet chili Thai calamari which was less sweet and more tangy/spicy and absolutely delicious. It was different than other places where I've ordered similar. The short rib ragu was over par paddle which was cooked to perfection. But the real star of the night was the crispy skin salmon Over and asparagus risotto in thin lemon sauce it was outrageous - out of this world - classic vanilla gelato and an Oreo like cookies and cream type custard rounded out the night. I've wanted to come to Whalers for a long time and finally got out here for my friends birthday. Their decor is so cute and the staff is very sweet. They actually gave my friend a $20 gift card for her birthday! The food is on the pricier side for the quantity but they deliver good quality . For example, I got the scallops as my meal and there were only 3 scallops. I've gotten scallop appetizers at other locations which have served 4 scallops, so I would have expected at least that many for an entree. I rarely finish my entire meal but I ate this all and could have eaten more. read more

[Long Island Restaurant Week] Price Fixe Menu Review: My first Whalers experience was perfect from start to finish. The restaurant is located on the water, the decor is perfect, the service was spectacular, and the food was uniquely delicious! Located on The Great South Bay, the views from this restaurant are gorgeous. Depending on the season & the day of the week, both The Lakehouse & Whalers have Valet Parking. There also have weddings at both restaurants so the parking lot fills up. The Prices are reasonable. This is definitely an upscale restaurant perfect for celebrations, romantic date nights, or even spending time with friends. There's a huge bar in the front of the restaurant. I loved the theme of this place. It's so gorgeous. Whalers looks like it's straight out of a magazine. The Service was incredible! My server Evan made my first experience a wonderful one. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made my dinner memorable. The other staff members were also friendly and super attentive. My water glass never went below half before someone came over with refills. The bartenders were also great and made some tasty drinks. The food also came out in a timely fashion. I never felt rushed during my meal. I had Montauk Mints & Caribbean Rum Punches during my meal. They came in cute glasses and were garnished perfectly. I recommend ordering drinks here. They are definitely worth the $$. The Food was so unique. It was a breath of fresh air for Long Island. I loved the various menu choices. Each dish that came out was cooked to absolute perfection. It was liberally seasoned and was topped with a nice chimichurri. I also liked the addition of the avocado, it really worked with the meat. The fingerling potatoes and salsa were delicious as well. 5 out of 5 stars -Braised Short Rib (LI RW Entree +$5): Was it worth the extra $5?...The answer is YES. I was served a beautifully cooked, nice sized piece of short rib. The bok choy & egg were great accompaniments BUT the kimchi fried rice stole the show! I took my friend out to lunch for her birthday here and we loved our experience so much! The food is amazing and the waterfront views are unbeatable! The vibes are immaculate. The seating and restaurant is COVID compliant and all of the waitstaff were wearing masks. We got the calamari, lobster roll, shrimp pappardelle. The sweet chili glaze suited the calamari so well we were very shocked. The lobster roll was generous and the pasta sauce was so delicious. For the drinks, they were on the stronger side or maybe that's just my quarantine tolerance speaking. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and would highly recommend this establishment! Our party of 4 got the bottomless mimosa deal. $20 per person for 90 minutes, definitely worth. We decided to get a bunch of appetizers & share everything. We got the PEI mussels, korean wings, calamari, korean bbq tacos, a lobster roll, & a side of kimchi fried rice. My favorite was definitely the mussels; so flavorful & they were pretty big mussels as well. The calamari was a close second, I loved the sweet and spiciness. The korean wings were too salty and the kimchi fried rice lacked flavor, so I would pass on those. The lobster on the lobster roll itself was good, but the bun was a bit stale. I came here on Mother's Day and wow I loved everything! First the view of the water is great and when you walk in the decor is nice and clean and they have beautiful lighting throughout the ceiling. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. We started off dinner with some drinks, the coco margarita was different than any margarita I've had. I loved the roasted coconut rim and the tropical punch was also so refreshing and delicious. For the starters we had fried calamari and it was super fresh and the chili sauce on the side was excellent. The Korean wraps were very good and a great sharable. We picked this place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is located right next to the water, very nice view. There's valet parking so no worries about that. I'll say food is okay, Bloody Mary is okay. However, given the nice decor and also nice location, it is a place I'll recommend to come and give it a try before going into fire island. Food was good, we ordered what felts like the entire menu. Ceviche needed a bit more time to sit in the lime juice, oysters were good, tuna tartare was on a bed of rice which was a bit strange for me personally but nonetheless fresh, risotto was delicious too. We ordered a surf and turf as a main and was really disappointed - the lobster tail had obviously been sitting for a little and was really hard and the steak lacked flavor. Beautiful venue and seating right on the water, plus they take reservations (and if you're going anytime after noon I recommend reserving if you want outdoor). Quick, attentive service, and an amazing drink menu! Plenty of great options there. Whalers is the place to go for date nights or for drinks with family and friends. It's a beautiful restaurant in Bay Shore. This evening, we were a party of 7. The ambiance, decor and food are outstanding. The hostesses and waiters were extremely nice. At first, I was concerned when we arrived. The bar area, on the first floor, was packed beyond capacity. No one was wearing a mask; including the waitstaff. We were the only ones wearing them. We were told to wait about 5 minutes, then we followed the hostess to the second floor. I was blown away by the beauty and the simplicity of the dining area. It was much more calm and relaxed than the downstairs area. There are lots of beautiful plants and outdoor lights hanging around the room. I found the decor really pretty and tasteful. My parents and uncle ordered beer; mom and I ordered sangria. We proceeded with very tasty appetizers. Both the fried calamari and the double fried Korean-style fried chicken wings were amazing! The dipping sauce was on point. Sweet and somewhat spicy. The white sangria was delicious too...very refreshing with some black raspberries in it. I sipped my drink slowl and gradually. The glass is too much for me; since I'm a nondrinker, but I did accept one glass this time! The roasted chicken with mashed potatoes and string beans were the best I've ever eaten. The seasoning was spot on! The apricot glaze provided the right amount of sweetness and flavor to the meat. The platters arrived piping hot to our table. My uncle had the Korean short rib platter. He devoured it! My parents also emptied their seared salmon plates too! This place must be uber busy during the summer months. I can't wait to come back again! I have to start off by saying the food is phenomenal. This is our second time coming and haven't had a dish we didn't thoroughly enjoy. Drinks are incredible and service is wonderful. What is confusing is the outside seating. We had reservations and completely understood that you can't reserve an outside spot. That wasn't an issue and we were prepared to sit indoors if the outside couldn't be accommodated. I however didn't understand when we asked about outdoor seating, the hostess informed us that there were other reservations coming in so she might not be able to seat us outside. I thought you couldn't make reservations for outdoors? The sign was right there informing us of such. I still don't understand it. Went to brunch this morning, at !1 am, they opened at 10:30, the coffee was instant heartburn and must have been from last night. 4 orders of Bananas Foster came out as cold French toast with 3-4 bananas. We had to ask the waitress where the Foster sauce was, the meal was half over before it was delivered to the table, one person was done at this point. We also noticed people ordered the same item and never got the foster sauce yet nothing was taken off the bill. Would not recommend this restaurant. I had the Ribeye Steak and Eggs and that was delicious! The service was terrific and our waitress made sure to help make suggestions as well as help me with my dietary restrictions.
