You know when you walk into a sub shop and it has that really good smell, you know it's gonna be good. Definitely my new place to go for a sandwich. Service was great friendly and helpful. Have tried to order sandwiches multiple times around lunch time. The phone either never picks up or you get put on eternal hold. Website is worthless and you cannot find a current menu anywhere online. Too much work for lunch. read more

Small, CLEAN restaurant with about three employees at most. It's hidden in an industrial complex right by the I-17, so if you blink, you'll miss it. It almost looks closed fron the outside when it's open. I discovered it about 20 years ago. The menu is extensive and the main guy behind the counter knows it by number and description like the back of his hand. Don't try to challenge his memory. You can't win. He's been there every time I come in. They close at 3pm. Everything I've tried is excellent. So good, in fact, that my day is kinda ruined when I'm in the area and I'm too late. I've even planned my day with a detour just to get there before closing. read more

This was a last minute grab for people at work. Called the order in for 5 subs and they were ready before we arrived 10 minutes later. Amazing! They recommended the #20 and everyone agreed. Good food, quick service and very friendly staff for a great price! See you next time. read more

Forgot to post this yesterday, had an opportunity to try this place out on a suggestion from the people who were working on my vehicle, located in a industrial park off McDowell and 25th Avenue. It's been around for years and is a hidden gem, great selections of subs over 60 items on the menu. It was hard to pick one but I settled on #51 Hot Pastrami & Cheese combo. Good place to grab a sandwich. Now my only issue (personal issue nothing against the owners)they heat things up in a microwave, for most places it makes things rubbery, but here they have it down to a science. I was impressed with the quality of the product and meat that they prepared and the line was steady as the patrons flowed into the shop to place their orders. Need just a good ole sub? Then go here. I have to first acknowledge the owner and customer service. The man seems to know everyone who walks in or calls on the phone. Not only does he know their order, but he appears he really gets to know their life. That alone deserves for this place to get 5 stars. If I had the money, I'd invest and have him open several locations with the same level of service. Think Chick-fil-a, and then bump it up a notch. The food....the subs are great! I've tried 2, and have no complaints. The quality of the meats and cheese are high quality, and the bread is unique and so good. Great prices, and so many options. One person mentioned something I do want to mention. The microwave. So many of the hot subs are tossed in a microwave, which is not as bad as it sounds. Let's be real, most places use them. I'd just be curious to see how much more tastier they could be if there was an oven like Subway or Starbucks. Nonetheless, it works. It didn't not taste microwaved. Perfect lunch! My co-worler and I decided we wanted sandwiches for lunch and that's when Yelp lead us to "What A Sub". I am so happy we found this little gem of a sandwich shop. All I can say is, this place is serving up fantastic sandwiches. Not only are the sandwiches deliciously fantastic but the prices can't be best. Just a mere $5.95 for a full sub, add a 12 oz. Coke and side of potato salad, $8.50. On this visit I had the Genoa Salami, Ham Provolone Cheese, With, lettuce, tomato, special seasoning, mayo, and mustard and a side of potato salad. The meats were high quality and the bread was soft and fresh sms the potato salad was delicious. Great sandwiches, Great Prices, Great Service, stop by you will be happy you did. read more

The best subs I've ever had! The bread is fresh, soft and just downright delicious, the owner is extremely friendly and personable! Just overhearing conversations and how he interacts with everyone on a personal level makes the environment comfortable and cozy! I usually order the number 35 - Turkey, lettuce, tomato and substitute mayonnaise for vinaigrette - plus the brownies are super moist and grand! I was hungry looking for something near my office. Not a great area of town but it's a hidden gem in a tiny strip mall near the freeway. You would have to look hard to find the place. The guy at the counter was extremely nice and helpful. I got the 62. Bread was so soft and fresh. This was probably the best sub I've had in a long time. Now I will be back all the time. Finally had a chance to try this place after a year driving by it. Glad I did! had their Philly Cheese steak. Meat was a good quality sliced very thin. Great taste, people there were very polite. You just need to get their during the off peak hours. When they are busy it's very hard to find parking. But it's still worth it. read more

This place is a little gem hiding in a business strip. Not a lot of parking, but you can get in. Simple seating, but functions. Clean restroom. The subs are fresh and tasty and come with chips and a drink at a very reasonable price. The menu is amazingly diverse with a TON of options. The staff are friendly and helpful. Was driving around, hungry, and wanted good fresh food and happened upon this place and made a quick u-turn. Great value! Got a #23 (tuna sub) and added deli mustard. Delicious and filling, lots of tuna and saved half for dinner. Got the combo which added a huge fountain soda and side of potato salad (or chips) - potato salad is so good! It a more mustard based and pickle sweet, some of the best homemade I've had around Phoenix. Guy that helped me was super friendly and helpful, mentioned this place has been open for almost 32 years! Best sub in town. I don't crave sandwiches. I didn't atleast until I came here. Fresh bread and it's amazing when it's warmed up. The lettuce and tomato were fresh. Everything was fresh and great. I drive across town just for my sandwich here now. You just have to try it to believe it! read more

I've been eating here on and off for about 6 years and the sanwiches are always great. Even with new owners (which I think at this point they aren't that new anymore) the food quality has not changed. I've never gotten one bad sandwich from here. The service is always fast and friendly. The one drawback is the parking. They are in a tiny plaza with a few other businesses and the parking is very slim. Lunch time is very busy, probably best to call ahead and place a to go order. Not much else to say about this place. It's a small sandwich shop with great food and service. read more

Well after 6 years, we've found it! The food was amazing. My husband had the rack of lamb Marsala. The lamb was tender and the Marsala sauce was perfect and included a generous amount of mushrooms. I had the eggplant parmesan. Hands down, it is the best eggplant I have had in Phoenix. It was thinly sliced lengthwise, with the perfect amount of cheese and sauce. The sauce was very flavorful and the pasta cooked perfectly al dente. I highly recommend this restaurant. We will definitely be returning!

I come in at least once a week. Great family great service and it's often packed. Can't go wrong it's delicious food!
