I had the medium rare beef pho, and I thought it was very tasty although maybe a little saltier than your average pho. Prices have gone up and quality, taste and portion has gone down. Pho 54 a favorite for years under another name. Beef and Broccoli no flavor and portion almost half what I normally get. Crab Rangoon were still good. I use to pay around 11.77. Last visit over 14$. I'm still in search of a replacement for Pho 54. read more

The best Pho in town and our favorite Chinese take out. We eat here 2-3 times a month, dining in is lovely, everyone is friendly and the service is fast. We also get to-go, it's usually ready in 15 minutes. We have loved everything so far - Pho, veggie goi rolls, beef and broccoli, Kung Pao Chicken, and Soft noodle Cantonese-style. I almost always get the Pho. If you get it to-go the parts of the Pho are packaged separately so you can customize your bowl as if you were dining in. read more

Pho is good but there is at least one place better in town. The broth & taste are fantastic however I was disappointed that they did not have more veggies (even though I asked for them) I am use to a more mixed veg assortment. I did get some extra veg but I would have liked even more (and would have paid extra for it). Suggestions for improvement: Bubble Bobba Tea - very very tasty but not as thick as I am used to - suggest frozen fruit? Menu - needs more detail in English regarding what is in the dish - lacks details for a good choice if you did not know the items on the menu. read more

Probably one of the worst Vietnamese restaurants in the city as far as food. The staff and servers are indeed friendly and careful and the dining environment is peaceful and quiet. Overall a relaxing vibe. I have visited this restaurant about 12 times in the past year. The first time I went to try it out, the first thing I noticed was an annoying fly zipping around in loops, which nearly ruined the experience. The food.... sometimes bland. The only decent food I'd recommend to eat here is just the typical mixed rice Chinese-American dishes (fried rice/shirmp, beef, chicken, pork, etc). Some of the Pho's are also just ok. Chinese appetizers and of course the beverages are ok. Banh mi served on a super hard and old bun. If you've eaten at another local Vietnamese restaurant, you can definately taste the difference. I've only gone to this place many times because of the convince of it being very close to home.... only to always end up disappointed. The name of the restaurant should be changed from "Pho 54" to "China 54". Overall the Vietnamese food is horrible and so is some of the Chinese-American dishes. This is the BEST place for vegan/veggie Vietnamese food in town! My partner and I both ordered the veggie "beef" pho, and it was simply delectable! Broth was amazingly flavorful, and the veggie "beef" strips were delicious. Tons of veggies in the soup and even veggie fish sauce available! We also ordered the cold spring rolls with mint leaves and the veggie dumplings (available upon request!), which were also wonderful. This is definitely a hidden gem/hole in the wall type spot, but so worth the trip. We will definitely be back!! read more

Gaaaaaaawd, I don't know how I never found this Pho restaurant, even though I've been in indy 2.5 years. It takes me back to living in atlanta, eating pho at least 3-4 times a month. I had a bowl with rare beef, meatball and tripe and it was fantastic. Sometimes pho broth is too salty or bland, but 54 has a great recipe they use that brings out some serious flavor. Where have I been? It's been a long time since I've ordered any take out or even stepped into Sizzling Wok. New name, new remodel--I was so confused when I could check in under the old name. LOL. The owner told me the reason for the name change was because their supply deliveries kept going to the Sizzling Wok on Lafayette. I'm still a fan of their take out service; call 15 minutes ahead and my food is ready for pick up. I love their Pho, but..... I'm grossed out that a lot of people have been complaining of roaches inside the resturaunt. Especially after the remodel. Pho 54 and Saigon are the two restaurants I go to for Pho. Pho 54 is a lot less busy than Saigon which is perfect when you are so hungry and can't wait for 20min for the food. After years of living within 5 minutes of Pho 54, we finally tried it out. We are vegan and after reading other reviews, we ordered the lemongrass tofu, veggie beef pho, and veggie egg rolls. When we arrived, the kind woman working there (who I presume is the owner) informed me that they were out of the veggie beef, but had veggie chicken which was vegan. I agreed to swap for that, and confirmed again that everything we ordered was vegan. She said yes, and told me she is vegan also. I just finished my pho and I can't believe the flavor of the broth and the veggie chicken. It's absolutely the best pho I've ever had, and a new favorite restaurant for us! read more

Don't judge the book by its cover. I'll be honest, growing up around this area I was hesitant to stop at 71st and Michigan for a tiny, somewhat sketchy looking restaurant. My friend and I went here in the late evening on a Tuesday. We were the only ones in the restaurant at the time. It was super quiet with no music and just a nice couple running the restaurant. I was very pleasantly surprised when I got my Pho. Chicken pho was so delicious. The flavors were perfect. My friend got beef pho and it was good as well. Great and fair prices. And they are quick with the check and attentive with refills and checking back in on how the meal is.
