This place is very clean and modern. I guess they built this restaurant quite recently. They practice social distancing and provide hand sanitizer. The service was great. The staff brought the food to our table with napkins, plastic utensils, and dressing. We ordered Apple and Cranberry Chicken Salad and Garden Chicken Salad. Whataburger lines are always usually long, but this one is the hardest to catch at a good time. Not sure if its the location, the quality, or what, but after living in austin for 21 years, ive met my share of bad whataburgers. This might be better than most. Always a long line. Meals are constantly missing items, for example my sons kids meal was missing the chicken strips. Food is being made and looks messy and rushed. Cashier is wearing gloves and taking payment from customers and at the same time adding kids items into bags for kids meals, with the same gloves. The girl at the counter was very sweet but my burger was old. Not just cold but the bread was stale and the cheese wasn't even melted. There was still tomato residue on the burger (I asked for no tomatoes and to add cheese. I think they just took an old burger took off the tomatoes put on a piece of cheese and called it good. Except it wasn't good. The fries were also cold and stale. Again the girl who waited on me at the counter was very nice and apologized. This is my second time at this location and both times the food has been cold or stale. The replacement burger was good and I was grateful for that. They had several employees and they seemed to be having a good day visiting with each other but the only one working was the girl at the front counter. Stopped by after a long shift and not only did we get in and out quickly (used to 30+ minute waits anytime Th-Sun after 10pm) but Matt at the drive thru was awesome; friendly, quick, offered upsized & dessert (I sound like a secret shopper but I manager a restaurant downtown & appreciate great service when I see it). Also appreciated the runners coming out to a second line to get everyone on their way. Disappointed in the inconsistency! We are from Vegas and have never had what a burger so we decided to come Thursday night when we landed. It was wonderful and Jose helped us and was great. He gave us a free chicken sandwich coupon to return. We returned on Saturday and Jose was not friendly. There was no cheese and I was advised it could not be added in.
