All this for $31.47 -- and no drinks. Would have bumped it up to $37 and change. Def no bang for the buck here
    Chris M.

It's 1.5 stars for me, I'll round up to 2. Not a complete disaster, but I'm pretty sure after my 2 visits I'm done with this place. Don't mean to be a Shake Stack Pooper Scooper but it just doesn't ring my bell as much as it rings my pocketbook. The best thing on the menu is the Fried Chicken Sandwich - it's solid yet not top notch. I ask for onions (wow - no extra charge?!? Kewl Beans!). The next best thing are the malts and ice cream, problem is it costs the same as 2 gallons of premium ice cream or 1 gallon of premium gelato you can buy at the store. You definitely don't get bang for the buck here by any means. First visit I got food for 2 of us - it cost a whopping $47 not including tip. That's $24 bucks for a sandwich, fries, cheese on the side, and a malt / shake. WTF? We should have went to P-Terry's down the road and spent one-third for nearly the same thing (minus the side of cheese). I'm talking $18 vs $47 - - WTF? And I'll be very transparent here - we definitely think P-Terry's tastes better. Way better. That's the other thing here - I can't explain it, but after my 2nd visit here I just had this "bad taste" in my mouth. This food tastes "manufactured" to me, if that makes sense. Every place has it's own "taste" so to speak, and IMO this place just doesn't taste that fresh or unique or out of this world. It has this blah to it that doesn't do it for me. That's when it hit me - - they've gotten $75 of my money so far, and that's it - I won't be back here because it doesn't excite me for the whopping price I'm paying here, and it just doesn't do it for me. Well those 2 visits mentioned above were back in 2024. After staying away for a year I did make it back in the last couple of months using their BOGO offers. The Chicken Sandwich was good, but it was small. I got a Chicken Sandwich from KFC - it was 30% larger breast and tasted better. So I won't ever go back to pay $10 for and undersized chicken sandwich. Went back a couple of weeks ago for the double cheeseburger. BOGO, and these suckers were like double large sliders. And they were way too salty too. Just did not taste that great, and their shake sauce was way too salty too. So it continued to be very disappointing Shake Shack experiences as I have yet to have a great or phenomenal food experience here. It's oh for four, and that's about $100 spent with low results. The only positives are the service always is friendly and attentive which bumps them up to 2 stars, but their food just doesn't measure up to the hype and expectations and premium pricing. There are plenty of other burger and chicken options out there to keep me going.

I was first introduced to Shake Shack from out of state before I found out Shame Shack existed in Texas too! These burgers are so good! Great to grab after concerts downtown! Their spicy fries are super spicy so I will definitely get the regular fries like I normal do. For spicy lovers you will like that! The strawberry with strawberry boba pearl was tasty! The Oreo shake was yummy too! The meat is juicy and it's everything you want in a guilty cheat meal! So good! Do I recommend this place? Yes! Great burger and good prices! You can never go wrong with shake shack !

First, service while finishing my meal has always been great. The person checking on how I'm doing and offering to pick up any unneeded items has been friendly and engaging. However, you order food on your own here, so there is no interaction from the start of your visit here. While I appreciate that self-ordering allows seeing the entire menu easily and allows for clear modifications, I find it takes much longer than just talking to an employee. And waiting in line to order takes longer than waiting in a line to order at a counter. I really dislike this part of Shake Shack. Other than that, the food I've had has typically been solid, so despite my recent visit being disappointing, I'm not lowering my stars. I only ordered onion rings and a root beer float, but my onion rings had excessive salt. I had to wipe off salt in order to eat them. That wasn't a positive experience. The root beer float was exceptionally average. Shake Shack is conveniently located close to the Alamo Drafthouse and is a cheap alternative to other dining options in the area. It also typically has quick service, so it works as a quick bite before a movie. I still plan on visiting this location, but I'll not being ordering onion rings!

I remember when I once waited over 3 hours to eat at Shake Shack at Madison Square Park in New York back where there were only 2 locations. Fast forward to 2025, and I am still excited to visit Shake Shack which is now on South Lamar. You can place an order at the counter and they provide you with a number and call your number when your food order is ready. I like that you can see into the kitchen and watch your food order being prepared. This visit there was virtually no wait which makes me grateful I no longer have to waste 3 hours of my life to enjoy their burgers! I came here before a movie showing to grab a quick bite. I still had my $10 birthday reward coupon to redeem. I was excited to see a specialty Shake flavor Dubai Chocolate Pistachio Shake that I just had to try. The shake is made with real pistachio frozen custard mixed with toasted kataif shredded phyllo in a crackable dark chocolate shell, topped with chopped pistachios and crunchy kataiti. The shell cracks and breaks into little pieces of chocolate to enjoy with each sip. It was a delectable and unique treat that hit the spot on this hot summer day! I also ordered their namesake ShackBurger, a made-to-order quarter pound single patty of 100% Angus beef with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, and ShackSauce on a toasted potato bun. Each bite of their burger is balanced with so many fresh toppings. If you are feeling extra hangry you can get it with 2 patties also. I enjoy their crinkle cut fries as well and usually order them with the cheese sauce for dipping. I noticed this last visit there are more sauces and toppings for the fries like ranch and spicy options. Yay for the addition of fried pickles. Overall great fast food option with fast service, great burgers, shakes and sides. They always have a unique shake option that is worth a try. I will keep coming back!

I remember the quality being better and Shake shack before. It's not that good anymore. The meal is alright. The restaurant is spacious and clean and it offers a good view of downtown.

I am giving this four stars because parking is hard. All the stalls we're taking in both parking garages at 5pm. We had to park on the street in one of the neighborhoods. When entering inside, you order through the kiosk for card or pay cash at the counter. They really prefer you to order on the kiosk. We got our food in a timely manner which was 10 minutes. This was Jeff's first time ever trying Shake Shack! My burger was super pink. We did like the lemonades, but I felt it was on the pricier side. The fries were nice and crisp and he liked his sandwich. If we decide to go back, it would probably just be to a different location.

It's been so long since I've had Shake Shack so we decided to give it a try again for dinner tonight. Not only have the prices increased over the years with inflation, but I swear the burgers have also shrunk in size too (especially the buns -- my partner said the buns look like the buns that they serve you in the cafeteria back when we were kids lol)! Don't get me wrong, the fried chicken sandwich and black truffle burger were good, particularly the side of truffle mayo that came with our truffle fries. I also appreciated that the smash patty was cooked to medium rare, which gave the burger a nice tender texture. With all that being said, we paid $40 for 1 burger, 1 sandwich, 2 orders of fries, and 1 fountain soda drink. For that price, I would have either just paid a bit more to go to Hopdoddy or paid significant less at P. Terry's to be honest. I still perceive them as a fast food restaurant, so the price we paid just ultimately wasn't worth it.

The new veggie burger is delicious! The shroom burger is pretty good too. This location has a huge indoor seating area and patio seats. You can self order at the kiosk for dine in or takeout. Parking is at the lamar union garage adjacent to the restaurant.

The three of us each grabbed three flavors (F, E, D--haha, funny, right?) and rated each one with sugary zeal. Roasted Beets & Fresh Mint (F, E) - delicious, subtly minty, with a very creamy, mild beet flavor. I never had such a refreshing ice cream that wasn't sorbet. The mint really made a difference. I'm a huge fan of places that curate exotic flavors (a vegetable, really?) into their menu, which only increased my opinion of this place. Hill Country Honey & Vanilla Bean (E) - one of the smoothest vanilla bean ice creams I've had. It reminds me of a traditional ice milk soft serve. It wasn't the most impressive vanilla ice cream I've ever had, but it was still very good in its own right. Dark Chocolate, Olive Oil & Sea Salt (E, D) - such a great balance to the sweetness of the rest of the ice cream options. I always love little chunks of salt in sweets to cut through the sugary intensity, so this one was an instant favorite. GOAT Cheese, Thyme, and Honey (E, D) - a complete 100% hit. Probably my top, alongside the beets. My BFF said it tasted too much like a meal rather than a dessert and couldn't give it a high rating, but as a charcuterie fan, I know there are plenty of "dessert" cheeses. I mean... cream cheese, for example? But is that really a cheese...? Uhhh. Very Strawberry (F) - a clean strawberry flavor. A bit artificial, but still so great. It far outweighed the Sweet Cream w. Strawberry flavor we tasted later. Cookies & Cream (F) - I never liked cookies & cream before, but this changed my mind. It hits so hard when you get a full spoonful. Probably the only cookies & cream I would eat. My BFF's #1. Chocolate Chocolate (F) - love chocolate? Get this. That's all you need to know. Coffee & Cream (D) - oooh, reminds me of the keto coffee ice cream I had once. Would get again. Coffee notes are always great in ice cream. Was this a STRONG standout? No. But did it do its job? Yes. Sweet Cream w. Strawberry (D) - too creamy for me, not enough strawberry. My top flavors by far are: 1) Roasted Beets & Fresh Mint, 2) GOAT Cheese, Thyme, and Honey, and 3) Dark Chocolate, Olive Oil & Sea Salt. All three were unique flavors that I would absolutely get again. We sat on the little barstools watching the line get progressively longer as the night went on. It was really interesting to see how many people came in for a sweet treat at 11 PM. The atmosphere was pleasant, parking was pretty easy, and while it never got too crowded, the place was surprisingly popular.

While we were there, it was always a packed line so it definitely gets really busy from 8-9PM! We got three larges for a total of twelve flavors, a little bit of overlap: Mine: Dark Chocolate Olive Oil and Sea Salt - Really liked this, the bitter saltiness offset the creaminess really well. Coffee with Cream - A very light but roasty coffee, like a light coffee. I liked this!; Goat Cheese, Thyme and Honey - The herbal flavor is more subtle than I expected! Not too sweet, liked this one Sweet Cream & Strawberry - this one didn't stand out much to me Others: Roasted Beets and Fresh Mint - I really liked this one! The beets and mint hit on the back of your tongue, yum Chocolate Chocolate - Very intense chocolate, not too crazy about it though Cookies & Cream - Surprisingly good! I liked this one Very Strawberry - way more strawberry than the sweet cream. I'd recommend this over the sweet cream and strawberry Hill Country Honey & Vanilla Bean - Pretty light, a classic. Thought it was okay. If I had a tier list it would be: 1) Coffee with Cream 2) Goat Cheese 3) Dark Chocolate Olive Oil 4) Roasted Beets and Mint 5) Cookies & Cream 6) Very Strawberry 7) Vanilla Bean 8) Chocolate Chocolate 9) Sweet Cream & Strawberry Overall, a few hits, a few misses, but it was a fun tasting experience. We paid via inKind with no issues, which made it a pretty solid value.

It has about 3 to 4 times as much sugar as it actually needs. In fact, I was physically ill from eating it. Not only does the ice cream itself taste too sugary in the flavors are too cloyingly sweet, but they then want to mix in additional candies and sugar items which blows my mind. I humored them and tried an ice cream with mix ins and was greatly underwhelmed. Everyone who likes Amy's raves about the Mexican vanilla but honestly, that is also way too sweet and tastes like drinking vanilla extract. I can only surmise that there are a lot of folks with unsophisticated palates in Austin, otherwise there would not be so many positive reviews and this place would not be in business.
