I rarely review fast food joints, but I've eaten at this Whataburger often enough, I feel a weird obligation. I always order curbside, which is effective and efficient through the app on the iPhone. Ordering is intuitive enough, but you have to remember to (1) use the phone not the iPad and (2) take the phone with you so you can tell them which slot you're in. The sandwiches are almost always warm when you get them, and the curbside guys call you by name. On a whim and because my wife was gone playing bunco for the evening, I ordered out. The Bacon Bleu Cheese Burger was on special - order a drink and a side and the burger is free. Four points to make about the Bacon Bleu Cheeseburger: 1. It's huge. 2, it's gigantic. 3. It's frigging large. 4, it's damned good. The patties were large, juicy and warm. And had great beefy flavor. The Bleu cheese was decent and tangy, and the ranch peppercorn dressing was a pleasant addition. Luckily, I live only a few minutes away, so all was acceptable temp when I got home to eat it. It's enough for two meals, so I'll find out tomorrow how it survives the refrigerator. Whataburger sides are always disappointing. Their fries are mediocre for fast food fries, their onion rings are dismal. I'd rank Whataburger above McDonalds and Burger King for almost anything fast food-wise and light years above Dairy Queen, particularly the local one which is atrocious even for a Dairy Queen. That said, we're getting a Mighty Fine and a P Terry's in the near future in a nuclear winter explosion of fast food joints in Drip. This place purely sucked. I got a double plain and I specifically asked " does it come with 2 slices of cheese?" He said yes. Then my son ordered a plain cheeseburger, yes I said plain CHEESEburger. Had to stop for food on our way to Enchanted Rock, came to Whataburger! Of course there was a long drive-thru line, so we parked and ordered inside (though, there was a bit of a line to the checkout counter as well, LOL- that's Whataburger for you!). The cashier was friendly and had personality, even though it was crazy busy. We weren't kept waiting too long however, before our food was brought out to us. I hit up the restroom (it was nice and clean) and we head out since we'd gotten our meal to-go, and ate in our car in the parking lot to space ourselves away from the crowds. The burgers were warm, tasty, and fresh, as were the fries (though they could've used a bit more salt). I believe masks are still a requirement at this location (3.9.2021). read more

The majority of the problems after you purchased your food is by the time you get home and something is wrong like my burger being flat and hardly any lettuce it's a waste of fuel to go back and get another burger. 'What a wait!!' 1 star for the first time my order was wrong. A # 2 with jalapeños. Well I got jalapeños but it only had one beef patty. Oops. Still tasty but not what was ordered. About 2 weeks later. When I walked the cashier looked at me and turned around and walked away. I wish I did too. The 2nd star for another partial order. A #2 with jalapeños and a drink. I got a tea. Yum. Then after 20 minutes waiting, and hearing the 'what a team' talk about my food (but not to me.) I left hungry- more like hangry. No effort or attempt was made to explain to me or correct the problem. So I left. Things happen for a reason, and although I'm sad at the cost of my iced tea (I paid for the burger and my drink but only got the drink) I am glad I didn't eat the food after seeing some things. During 20 minutes, you see a lot of things... Some of the things I saw bothered me. An example- Several of the 'what a team' members were handling money, then items like straws and lids and filling drinks. Then going out side and coming back in and repeating the same behavior. None ever went to the kitchen to wash hands. Maybe there was some sanitizer somewhere that I couldn't see. Let's hope so! I get it, it's fast food. However, some basic standards (like washing hands) should still be required. Food handling is not hard and they were not busy, it was around 1:30 pm. Mistakes happen. I get it. I work in retail too. When mistakes happen, own it, correct it, learn from it, and the most important... communicate with your customer. The first time I went there, there was a mistake. We went to this location at 3p today 9/18. Our fries were cold and hard, very stale. Asked for fresh fries, the lady kindly took them and told us they had just put fresh fries down. Shortly we got our fries back, but they were our old fries again, they had been put back in the fryer again for a minute. We declined to make further comment, just didn't eat them. We do regret not saying something. Instead we decided that due to the lie we were told and lack of concern for their customers, we just won't go back to this location. After recent events I've gotta reward another star to the Whataburger in Dripping Springs. Little Rooster loves his single pancake with two butters, bacon piece, and one syrup tub. No more, no less. This proved a successful reward for his recent potty training. I did it; we all did it. But, when you have to do it to a tiny person, you pick what they love. Take for instance the usual counter guy Pedro. He makes ordering an event! I have to chase the boy thru the line straight to the counter. Its that important, a whole lot of words that equates to his above mentioned order. He gets one pancake and bacon in there somewhere. Ol' Rooster has been hitting the biscuit and gravy train, substituting the chorizo breakfast on a bun with grilled onions a few times in between. Burgers are above average compared to the other chain outlets in the area. The make it to order! I'm usually a cheese and grilled jalapeno with no lettuce kind of guy. And thank the fast food gods for onion rings, something McDonalds hasn't even ventured into. A cinnamon roll in the morning on the way to work completes a summary of my dining pleasures. The management team and the staff at MY Whataburger is phenomenal. Small town friendly and they take the time to care for regular customers, especially the boy. Sure, I rather be dining at some fancy place but in the real world of a three year old, work schedules, and ranch chores this Whataburger has found its home in my routine. read more

After waiting in line for about 10 minutes because I couldn't back up I finally was able to order it took another 20 minutes or so to get up to the window and pay and then they asked me to pull forward because my food wasn't ready. After waiting for about 15 minutes I got out of my car and walked back to the window and asked if my order was coming - they said they were working on it. Then about five minutes later two kids come out and ask me what my order was! I finally just said give me my money back. So I basically wasted 45 minutes of my time and have no food. In the past you could always count on Whataburger being open. For example we ate at one onIH 35 late Thanksgiving evening. We were traveling from west Texas New Year's Eve. We decided to eat at the Whataburger in Fredericksburg. We got there a little after 10:00 pm. There where cones across the entry to the drivethru and the door was locked with an empty parking lot. So we decided to eat at the one in Dripping Springs. We got there about 11:30 pm. The door was locked with a sign. The driveway was open but we were tired from sitting in the car for hours and wasn't interested in eating in the car. In reading the reviews it looks like it is good that they were closed. I guess Whataburger has gone to crap and we will probably not attempt to go to one any more. read more

Saw the drivethru queue had only one car in it so stopped by today for a late lunch. Ordered a #4 Jalapeno Burger with Cheese, Fries, and a Diet coke. Drove right up to the window and waited. And Waited. And Waited, 15 minutes after taking my money and delivering my drink, out came my burger. Drove the short distance home and found the burger was stone Cold. Piping hot fries, though, they were obviously waiting for the fries to cook and let the burger sit on the side. Was an odd experience. Ordered food from the drive through. Got the food, but order was incorrect. Went inside and explained MULTIPLE times what was wrong. They strangely had over 10 people working, several older managers with people running around. This was an ordinary late weeknight with no crowd. Got food and was still incorrect. Went back in to correct. Got food, many apologies from them, got home and they still missed food we paid for. All the employees were very polite and food was good, but experience was just bad.
