The WB employee gave him a contact and store number and the guy asked if he had anything to write down this information on. our future is doomed. So instead of grabbing someone to help me. I waited and waited for the WB dude to find this future outstanding employee a pen and paper. I walked out again across the parking lot to Chick-fa-la. No JUST NO!!! Wasn't busy when we got there. The young guy argued with me about what I ordered even after hearing what my passenger confirmed me ordering. After handing me our food and I touched inside the bag to see he then took the bag back and charged us full price for the onion rings as if they was separate. It really is a shame that half stars cant be given. I waited in line for 27 minutes!! Then when I get to the window the coffee, which was pour the second I ordered it, was cold!! I had ordered cream and sugar which was not provided. When I asked for cream and sugar the clueless window girl left the window, and came back only with "sweetener" .. not sugar. So I said that isnt sugar, she again left the window and came back with only sugar. Then I had to repeat my request for cream she left the window for a 3rd time and came back with French Vanilla creamer.. not cream. I gave up WHAT IS WRONG with Whataburger!!? This one is right next door to Chick-fil-A. GET A CLUE AND DO BETTER!! My first email went unresponded to. It has been 3 weeks since the call and emails to corporate and I have not been reached out to. You can't blame COVID from being able to pick up a phone and dial whataburger. Don't bother with the Wylie location. Go to chick-fil-a next door and save yourself. read more

First, hilarious how many very negative reviews were done as the restaurant opened - clearly a lot of people don't understand restaurant openings and having to work through the problems. That and COVID was in full bloom and the restaurant had problems hiring kids (thanks Biden). My understanding is this is a Franchisee who also owns Murphy, so they should have expected issues but I won't ding them for all of that ... the problem is, and still is, it takes forever to get through Drive-Thru. That's a Management issue that still hasn't been addressed. They do make mistakes on orders, but so do the Murphy and Sachse locations. In the end, love the burgers and fries .. but things have seemingly gone down hill since the family sold the company to the Chicago firm. It is no longer a regional classic, expansion has give rise to Franchisees and in this business they are only as good as the Ownership. read more

I never write reviews but, I just can't ignore the current state of the Wylie Whataburger. To say that I was elated to have a Whataburger in Wylie is an understatement. I was driving to Murphy or Sachse to get my fix on a regular basis. Once I saw the sign that the Whataburger was going in, it only confirmed how PERFECT Wylie is. Shortly after it opened I did a curbside pick-up (due to COVID). The order was wrong. I chalked it up to the staff being new as was the whole curbside pick-up thing. Just 1 week later I was needing my fix. I made the HUGE mistake of trying the drive-thru. OMG! Never again. The wait was ridiculous. I think that they thought they were doing me a favor by walking my order back to me in the line. The line that I had 3 other cars in front of me which had me locked in. I actually stopped going for a couple of weeks because it was just such a letdown. Still, every time I would drive by, I would look at the MASSIVE drive-thru line. Even on non-peak hours. All I could think of is, "what could they possibly be doing that would cause that kind of a back up"? This last Sunday (3/14/2021) I needed to grab a fast lunch for my daughters as we jetted off for softball practice. Their initial request was Chick-fil-a. However, being it was a Sunday, that was a no-go. Since Whataburger is right next door we swung through...the drive-thru....why? 3 PM on a Sunday, 5 cars in the drive-thru, total standstill. Un-freaking-believable! We finally get to the order window and we were handed our three drinks that are covered in soda down the side of the cup. Not 1, not 2, ALL THREE. How could you pour a drink, knowing you dribbled it down the side of the cup and then KNOWINGLY had it to a customer?! I know that this was a long review. I write it with the hopes that somebody in the Whataburger chain-of-command reads it and takes action with this particular store. I eat Whataburger pretty much everywhere I can find one. It is my go-to burger joint due to the variety of burgers that I can create and the quality of the food. This is NOT how we run restaurants in Wylie. I think what makes their poor service and management even more glaringly obvious is the fact that they are in the same parking lot as Chick-fil-a. A restaurant that has MASTERED the art of the drive-thru and customer service. Whataburger management: offer someone over at Chick-Fil-A a free Whataburger if they will come over and explain what customer service is and how to run a restaurant. Had a couple of successful visits again recently, then a terrible one the other day. The good ones were nice, because the food was hot, the order was accurate and delivered to our car via curbside quickly. However, the most recent visit was not great. I did curbside, and ordered via the app 15 min in advance. Then I got there and marked the spot I was in via the app... and sat there... for 30 minutes, before getting out of my car and flagging someone down who was carrying out orders to other vehicles. To be clear, the staff response was very nice and they apologized profusely for taking 30 minutes. They also gave a reason that clarified why this happened: Management. Management did NOT provide enough staff hours to allow the team the necessary manpower to meet customer demand. So, maybe Whataburger corporate should step in here, before the management (at this almost brand new location) ruins the chain's local reputation in Wylie, TX. In any case, I still love the spicy ketchup. I still like the burgers. I HATE bad service, and worst of all - I hate bad management causing perfectly preventable issues because they're pinching pennies in the wrong areas. read more

Never had a problem with the food, we always get the whatawings and they are great! The lead for evenings I'm assuming (purpleish hair) instead of helping the older man(Gary) infront she was concerned with her friends that were there. Also there is a fairly tall guy that was obscenely rude because he was trying to get his lunch order in while my husband was trying to ask for something. GARY WAS AMAZING THOUGH! They've brought food out for 2 cars behind me already and no one has asked me to pull forward and let them out. The Dr Pepper was warm and flat. Don't come here if you're in a hurry. I could expect my order to be more correct in my college town right after game day than I would going to the SH78 whata during a slow lunch time. Even after asking at the window if my order was correct and being told it was, knowing it wasn't, I had to go inside and be like ???pleasefixmyorder??? Above all else, Gary is the saving grace of this whataburger, as he is a kind old fella with good intentions. Order taker around 5 pm was very courteous and pleasant to work with. We all heard the rushed or stressed tone of voice at the drive through before. None of that today. Ordered the number one with large onion rings and fries, plus a spicy chicken sandwich. Chicken sandwich was the star of the show. Was surprised how good it was. I guess when you're right next to a Chick-fil-A, your chicken game better be amazing. Fries were hot and delicious. Dad complimented on how golden it looked. Dark fries tends to hint at old oil. Not today. Onion rings were prime example of dark oil. Tree bark color. Nice crunch and taste though. Even though it was a large, there wasn't much in the container. I suppose if they stuff anymore in they would break the round shape. A little disappointed but I understand. Sweet tea was nice. Didn't taste like vending machine. I work the night shift, 7PM to 7AM. I had gotten off my 12 hour shift, and had decided to stop for "breakfast" at my local whataburger. The place is super clean, and the food was great, but the cashier who rung me up will make me think twice before entering that facility. Jodie H. was kind and friendly when conversing with the customers in front of me, but when she got to taking my order, the way her demeanor had changed led me to believe not only was I not someone she knew/was comfortable with, but I was also inconveniencing her by cutting her conversation. She was very short when responding, and kept asking "is that it" every time I added something to my order. When she said "your order will be right out" to the customers before, and after me, she had handed me my receipt silently. After I had received my order , while I was checking it, as she stood at a distance and said "what are you looking for, it's all in there" not knowing I was trying to hand my coworker the food he ordered that he had been emphasizing how excited he was to eat it. None of this may seem bad at face value, but as a customer it made me feel unwelcome indoors. I'd rather skip breakfast than even consider having an interaction that made me feel that way again. The only problem I had at the restaurant was the attitude I dealt with when I approached the counter, and that tainted my experience until I drove off the premise, until my vehicle was completely out of sight. "Why did you have to be completely out of sight for the suffering to end?" One might ask themselves. That's because no sooner than our food was handed to us, sweet Jodie was outside to smoke a cigarette, glaring at our car , almost encouraging us to make haste off her territory. I'm giving 1 star because when they first opened. We had a long wait. I absolutely did not care I was just so excited it opened. I thought it would be worth the wait...By the time we got home and emptied the bags it wasn't our order. 2nd time...I had my mom pick us up an order...I heard her order over the phone because she had me on speaker. She ordered 2 #1's no onions and two lemon pies.... when she brought it to me we had two burgers with onions , 2 drinks and no fries and no lemon pies. My mom never checked the bag. Tonight we went and ordered 2 #'1's with cheese 1 with no onions and 2 lemon pies. We did not get our lemon pies and our burgers were so freaking wet I am just so curious as to what would cause a burger to be so wet that something would be dripping off of it on both our burgers?? So, I thought...screw the burger I will just eat my fries and my lemon pie....only...THERE WERE NO LEMON PIIIEEESSSS AGAIN !!!!!!
