After seeing one of their ads online, I decided to call to see if they had any locations in Texas to help with a modification (#1) with my newest Meta gear. They also specialize in selling phones, screen repair for smartphones and tablets, console repair, laptop and data recovery. Norbert was super professional, friendly, and immensely helpful. I appreciated his recommendations and suggestions for my situation and was impressed with his ability to diagnose my issue over the phone. He was extremely upfront about their pricing and their reasons for being in business. It's clear they have a community initiative, for which I give them major kudos. The biggest surprise was the owner, Gabe who was not only extremely responsive but also went the extra mile in offering a discount for rapid shipping due to my timeliness. He was also offering tips and maintenance advice, which was completely unsolicited and generous. This is an example of going above and beyond and it certainly has not gone unnoticed. I would give anything to have a resource like this in my neck of the woods. I genuinely wish them the best. ___________ (#1) Which is only $30. What followed was completely unacceptable. Bob was pleasant only until payment was involved. After diagnostics, we made the first payment of $120 and waited for parts that Samsung confirmed were fully covered, including shipping. On the day of installation, we were told the remaining balance would be $265 (cash or check only), which we agreed to. The technicians arrived nearly an hour late--our appointment window was 2-5 pm, and they didn't show up until around 5:45 pm. The repair took less than 15 minutes with two technicians. Afterward, we were suddenly told the total was $304.95 because they "forgot" to mention shipping and handling. This is unacceptable. We contacted Samsung, who confirmed that shipping and handling had already been paid for. When we confronted Bob, he became dismissive, defensive, and completely uninterested in resolving the issue. He refused to let us speak to the owner and told us to "follow up with Samsung," even though the overcharge came from his company. This was a bait-and-switch, plain and simple. Zero accountability, zero professionalism, and nonexistent customer service. We were clearly overcharged and brushed off when we questioned it. Do not use this company. If you value honesty and basic customer service, take your business elsewhere.

My iPhone 5s looked like it was ready for the garbage can with its busted up screen but the phone still worked great I was unsure what to do with it then I heard about this newly opened business in Marina that repairs electronics like cell phones, computers and much more called "What'd You Break" so I decided to check it out and I am SO GLAD I did!!! The owner Joshua was so kind, courteous and very professional he looked at my phone and said no problem I will have it done for you in about an hour and a half, now I have to admit I was skeptical because the condition of my phone was so bad!! Shortly after dropping off my phone Joshua called saying my phone was ready I could not believe my eyes when he handed me my phone!!!! It looked like it did the day I bought it!!!! This place is professional, fast and delivers excellent customer service!! From now on you can best believe that Joshua is my man for all my electronic needs hands down!!! I brought a couple of PC monitors into What'd You Break? after being referred by another local shop. After a brief phone call explaining the issue, Josh had me bring them into his shop. Turns out I'd accidentally shorted them both out (oops), but Josh was great about it. He kept me updated throughout the process, gave me an extremely reasonable quote, and when I came to pick them up, he took the time to walk me through what had happened and why. He's friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly cares about helping his customers. I'll absolutely be coming back to him for any future electronics repairs. Highly recommend! read more

Josh is top notch service with a quick solution to your broken devices!! Took my sons old iPad mini here to get a broken screen fixed and Josh had the part there the next day, unfortunately the screen they sent him was faulty but Josh quickly fixed the issue with another screen and fixing the iPad!! I didn't really want to take the small amount of cash Josh offered due to the faulty screen, I was just happy he got the thing fixed but he insisted!! AMAZING SERVICE!!! I would like to personally thank Joshua and Salena for all their support and help for reviving my Beats by Dre Studio headphones. I was about to throw these in the trash and buy new ones, but they saved me a ton of money and replaced the foam ears portion of the headphones. It was a quick repair and they mailed them back to me same day!! I'm looking for other electronic devices I can send them to fix and save me some serious cash!! I dropped my tablet, and when I picked it up, the screen froze, then went black. I couldn't turn it on. I called and took it in. He quoted me for the new screen and the job $300. So he ordered the screen but when he went to change it he noticed that the wires got disconnected from the fall and told me that the screen didn't need to be changed .I was only charged $45 . He could have lied and told me that he changed the screen, but he is an honest man. I really recommend people to go here for there repairs. read more

This place is THE BEST. I brought my waterboarded macbook in and Josh did everything he could to save it. Even though it ended up being a hopeless situation, he tried everything and was able to let me know within a day or two what my options were. I wasn't sure they would do it but shop was able to fix the electronics for lights on our MICROSCOPES... yes microscopes. They were fair and honest about the work being done and knew what they were doing. Josh was communicative and speedy once I followed up (they guy I dropped the scopes off with not so much) but I'm glad I tried the shop out! It will be my go to for any electronic repairs. These guys had it on hand, performed the replacement exceptionally quickly, and were nice enough to show us why the old battery was failing and let us see the work they were performing. ‼I literally created a yelp account and downloaded the app so I could write a review for such dedicated customer service.‼ I broke my phone screen, and I took it to them right as they were closing, and they let me in and fixed my phone for a really good price. Went in because I thought the charging port on my phone was broken. The guy looked at it an right away he could tell that it wasn't broken and just needed to be cleaned out a little. He had it working again in less than a minute and didn't charge me anything. He also quoted me a very reasonable price on replacing the battery. I went to the Apple Store to fix my broken screen and they asked for 380$ then I decided to give this shop a look and I wasn't disappointed at all they did it for almost 80 $ that's 300$ less than Apple Store and it works perfect , I would definitely recommend "what'd you break" they're good and gentlemen, I hope not to need to be back but if that happened I'll definitely be back read more

Received quote promptly from Josh. Took laptop in to install internal battery and received the laptop back the same day. Price was very reasonable for the amount of detail needed to install battery, lower than other computer repair places in the area. They did a great job and I received the old battery back too. These guys are amazing! I broke a flashdrive which I had 7 years of my career stored. It was broken in half. They assured me that if they could not fix it, they would not attempt. I came back and she said she needed more time. I had to leave to Monterey but I told her I'd be back. When I came back 2 hrs later to pick up my phone, a corner of the screen was very dim and the brightness wouldn't go any higher. She called another tech and said they could give me a $10 discount but they would try to replace the screen again and fix the dim light issue. Another tech came to get it and they told me it would be 20 minutes. I came back 20 min later and the new tech said she couldn't fix it and she was waiting for another tech who had more experience but was on break. She told me to come back in 30 min. I then came back 30 min later only to be told that they needed 10 more minutes. At this point I was frustrated but again we waited and came back. I kid you not that when I came back my phone was still not fixed and they had to call a 4th tech to try and fix it. The 4th tech told me she was the manager and her name was Victoria. She explained to me that screen would no longer turn on and it was damage that happened when the screen cracked. She said a piece had come loose when the phone was dropped. I don't understand how that would be the case if the first tech was able to fix it but it was just dim. I asked if it could've been damage from her technicians and she said they wouldn't break that piece on purpose and fixing the screen is very simple so she didn't believe it would've caused that kind of damage. I'm confused why it took 4 technicians to figure that out and why the first technician even tried to fix the screen if there were other issues. I didn't understand how I brought it in with the screen working fine and it was only cracked but now it was completely black. She told me they would have to send the phone out to have a piece soldered and it would be $140 plus $80 to still have the screen repaired. She urged me to consider buying one of their refurbished phones they were selling at the kiosk. She seemed to try and steer me away from sending the phone out to be soldered and just to buy a refurbished one instead. The cheapest refurbished one was $198 so only about a $20 difference from having my original phone sent out and fixed. But the refurbished phone was a downgrade and older model. She told me the refurbished one would be better because more things might break on my phone and I'd keep having to put money into it because it's an old phone. She told me to think about it and she would offer me a discount and she said if they did soldering she would even offer to do it for free but they didn't offer that service at the kiosk which is why I would have to pay to send it out. I will say this, Victoria seemed to be the only technician with any sort of costumer service skills. The other girls seemed lost and didn't seem confident to even be working there. The first girl didn't even notice the phone was dim and when I left to Monterey she didn't ask for any of my information for when the phone would be picked up like my name and phone number. When I would walk up to the kiosk most of the time the girls would be on their phone and seem to not even notice me. I ended up not buying a refurbished phone from them and just left with my now unusable phone. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt but at the end of the day I'm sure I got played. Something so simple that was supposed to be 20 minutes ended up being hours with negative results.
