Everyt time we are in Estes Park since 2017 we stop in and always enjoy the daily locals and terrific bartenders.

Rudely was just sent away. Didn't even open the door and some women was pissed off about something and turning us away.

Every time I visit Estes Park, I have to stop at the Wheel Bar. Great service. Good priced cocktails. Came in on a Saturday 6/19 for some drinks to watch the Portugal- Germany EuroCup game and our server was so sweet and attentive. I've played darts here many times. Just a great, fun place! The wheel bar is the nightlife in Estes Park. I was told this by a local and I found out for myself. Typical dirty dive bar located in the heart of the town. I only had drinks here so I cannot give an opinion about the food but they had a decent craft beer selection. Something I've noticed all of Colorado bars do with pride. (I'm in love with the beer scene in colorado). The bar was packed and rowdy, just how I like them. Meanwhile the rest of the bars in Estes are empty. Locals said that The Wheel Bar was "THE" Place . . . & It was. It's been a family-owned business since 1945. That's impressive. I walked in on the lower level, to the sunken Bar, & immediately liked the interior setup. Tables & chairs were casually arranged around a big-screen TV, forming a conversational area. Drinks were reasonably priced, a rare occasion these days, & there was a dedicated experienced Server. I didn't see anyone leave before the game was over. Does it get any better than that? read more

I'm visiting Estes park with family and was recommended by the resort that I'm staying at to check out this place when my family went to bed because they go to sleep early. I walk in after taking a taxi to town and the bartender says that she is not comfortable serving me. Not sure what threw her off but I've only had two beers over a twelve hour day with my 5 year old niece. Well what to say, could be cool local chill hangout. Came in on a Saturday night after dinner down the street. It's a snowy Saturday, but the place is empty. Not a bad thing only just odd place. Drinks were cheap. Patron margarita and jack and sprite was only $11.50. Can say maybe in the spring and summer months these places might get a good fun crowd. It's on the river so it looks super neat! Try if you're here in spring and summer or just coming in for a cheap drink. Oh and lots of tvs for games! read more

The wheel bar is what you're looking for if you just want a dive bar for a couple drinks. It's not super esthetically pleasing and it's pretty dark inside. I give it 4 stars because I felt like it wasn't super clean and that is important to me... We went out back to sit because it was a nice day and I enjoy soaking up the sun and having a drink . However , the back patio was very smokey, and when I went to sit down, there was a wad of long hair sitting in the chair My husband grabbed another chair , and that one had hair in it too! Beware, there is one wanna be tyrant bartender in this bar, who compensates for his minuscule manhood by getting off on trying to tell others what do, based on his own self selected rules. He tries to pretend that he is virtuous, but only enforces his rules against those he decides he doesn't like which is tyrannical. He cannot take any power himself for he is a weakling with skinny wrists, but he pretends because his parents unfortunately let him grow up soft. This place is definitely a local dive. I can only speak from my one experience but the bartender service was poor to say the least. She was in no hurry to serve and short with all but a few locals. I could imagine this place would be fine after a few beers or maybe sitting on their patio in the back. They do have a large back room that would be great for a group. On August 4th we had the reception for our destination wedding at the Wheel Bar. I couldn't have been more happy with the environment and staff. We were allowed to use an outside food vendor for the dinner and were able to connect via Bluetooth to the stereo system and play our own music. This is the local dive bar. We came in for late afternoon drinks after a day of travel. The bartender was really helpful and patient. I took off a star because the music was SO loud. They did lower it a tad for us but it was very hard to hear each other. We visited on a Thursday night for a NFL football game. read more
