Typical bait and switch. We wanted a set of 4 tires that Mtn View didn't have, but Cupertino did. They claimed the courier would have them delivered by noon the next day. My wife takes the car over at noon, no tires. The guy claims they are "on the way" and says they'll get the car prepped. The hoist the car, remove the wheels, and trash the old tires, while my wife goes off to do some shopping. She back at 2, and the car is still up with no new tires. The courier showed with no tires. She can't leave because they have immobilized her car. They offer "even better" tires for the same price. My wife doesn't know what else to do, so goes for it. The tires turn out to be ok, but still not the highly-rated ones we had wanted. Never going back here again. read more

UPDATE: My Tire Pressure Monitor went off, which is supposed to be normal. I asked the agent at the front desk and he said it would turn off in 10 minutes. It never turned off. I checked the tire pressure the next day and the tires were inflated to 30 PSI. The sticker on the side of my vehicle states the tires should be filled to 39 PSI. Looks like they never read it. I have a portable air compressor so I inflated the tires to their factory recommended settings and the tire pressure monitor turned off immediately. I'm updating my rating to two stars because they let me drive off with under-inflated tires. The only redeeming star is they honored their $59.00 refund for taking longer than 59 minutes. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Like other reviews noted, this Wheel Works location takes their time installing tires. I ordered tires from TireRack.com and had them shipped to this location. It took them 4.5 hours to install four tires with alignment. Since I already expected a long wait, I walked to the cafe across the street to get work done while they installed my tires. Despite the long wait, the prices are good. I shopped around and for my tire size, 225/40R18, and at the time of this writing they charged about $18.00 per tire while other places around this area were charging $35.00 per tire. In addition, I asked the clerk to honor their $59.00 refund for taking longer than 59 minutes and he obliged. Cheaper installation prices and $59.00 cash back made it somewhat worthwhile since I was doing my normal work schedule at the coffee shop across the street. For people who have remote friendly jobs and don't have anything urgent the day of your appointment, this place isn't bad. We had a low tire and ended up needing 2 tires replaced. Came in at 11:19am and didn't get out till 1:47pm. They claimed there was an issue with some equipment but they all spent the 3 hrs bunched up laughing and talking. Lots of upset people but it didn't seem to bother the employees at all. Agreed with the previous review. Corrupt service advisor, store manager and area manager. Unethical business. I came in to ask for having a tire patched, but I was told that the tire can't be repaired and I need to buy 4 new tires. So I was about to leave and said " In that case, I will go to Costco to change tires because I purchased 4 tiers from Costco and have Costco's warranty. " The service advisor stopped me and told that Costco's warranty is not good which only lasts 2 years and is not as good as Wheel Works's and they have the exact type of tires for my car in store. As a customer, I trusted my service advisor's recommendation and never expected he would purposely giving wrong information just to trick me into transaction of buying 4 tires. My tires from Costco were bought 2 years ago but very new due to working from home since pandemic. I signed paperwork and purchased 4 news tires and warranty. Only when I came home out of curiosity I googled Costco tire warranty and the first search result jumped out is " All tires sold through Costco Wholesale are covered by a 5-year Road Hazard ". I contacted store manager and area manager about this and the only response I got was " Our service advisor did great job and gave the correct recommendation about changing 4 new tires for you, and you signed the agreement to authorize the work and got the four new tires. We can't see anything wrong here." No wonder service advisors in Wheel Works can do anything and lie about anything to mislead and trick customers for purchase. Not happy at all. Granted I did not have an appt. I walked in before 2pm for brake service. They quoted me 2-3hrs but nearly 3 hrs into my wait they hadn't even started my service. They invited me to come back the next day but I was just over it. This was a complete waste of my time Especially since I was there just waiting. I been a customer for over 15 plus years. I recent came across some issues with alternator issues which they were trying to rip me off. They are tripling price on service. I will only come here to get my tires done because I already had purchase lifetime warranty for tire rotation. Their loyalty to customers is not the same. I won't be recommending this place anymore. I'm probably a little biased since I'm within a decent walking distance. I've been there twice due to nails in my tires. I just drop off the car, tell them I'm going shopping at Target, and ask them to give me a call when they're done. It's very convenient with all the stores in the area to run errands and/or eat while you wait if you're getting something relatively quick done. It's not the most modern place, but they get the job done and do a decent job. They've also been very nice about rechecking the air in all my tires. I went to Wheel Works with the "Winter Car Care" coupon. I have no complaints about the car care. They changed my oil and rotated my tires, etc. Nothing was wrong with my car, and they didn't try to sell me anything or convince me to do any unnecessary maintenance. The guy I talked to told me it would be done within an hour, but it was more like 1.5 hours, so I was a little annoyed by that. Service was polite and professional. read more

I came by this place with a screw in my 2013 WRXs tire after only 6000 miles; Barshawn (my apologies if I misspelled the name) was very quick to inspect the tire and assured me it would have no issues. I ended up taking my car to the track shortly after and had no loss in tire pressure. As the winter season gets closer, I went ahead and ordered a set of all-seasons. I brought the new set to Barshawn who promptly set me up with an appointment to get them on my car. Service was fast, cheap, and with excellent customer service. Will use them again. read more

I brought my car in yesterday, had it towed it because it died. I had called AAA and they used a jump box and determined my alternator was bad. Suggested I have it towed. They called a tow truck who immediately took out a jump box. They said the same thing. Today I called Wheelworks where my car is towed. Well the guys can't even jump my car because they don't have a jump box. WHAT?! Isn't that standard equipment? Unbelievable. They can't even give me a suggestion for it because they can't do the test without the jump box. I am so dissappointed in this place. The Service Manager said the Store Manager is not even doing anything about it. I don't even know what to do at this point since they can't even test the car to fix it. I just went over there because they had an ad in the Sunday paper for a discount on an oil change (it's one of those ads that's hard to miss because it's attached to the comics...), and the ad mentions right below the oil change price that they're open on Sunday. So I get there, and I'm informed that they don't do oil changes on Sundays (!?) because they don't have filters in stock for most cars....and they only get deliveries on weekdays. The manager wasn't really apologetic although he offered to schedule me for another day. I've previously had a good experience with them with alignment, so that's the only reason I'm not giving them one star. Waste of time - at least in this case. Arrgh. read more

They replaced 2 tires because of a nail in one of them which appeared to be not needed at all. That costed me $300. Another time I went to another tire service with the same problem. To pull out the nail and fix the tire costed $15. Giving 3 stars just because I don't want to be unfair. I'm not completely sure that the tire could be repaired (maybe the puncture was larger than ¼ inch (6 mm) or was outside repairable tread area), but it looked the same as in the second case and it was successfully repaired. So at least double check such cases with another service. read more

I had a great experience at Wheel Works on 1/14/21. I was driving to work in the morning and saw there was an alert on my instrument panel that my left rear tire was low on air. I stopped to add some air and saw a nail and realized that it was a very slow leak. I have had great experiences at Wheel Works in the past so I looked for a location near my work office. I called the location and spoke with a nice gentleman who told me to stop on by and he would help me out. I didn't even need to make an appointment which was great. I arrived to the wheel works and Steven accompanied me out to my vehicle and told me he would get it fixed promptly. After looking at my tire which had the nail, the team notified me that they would be unable to fix it due to the nail being to far near the outside tread wall. I understand it is a safety concern. They also suggested that I replace the alternate rear tire as the tread was very low. Gil helped me look up some tires in the system. I wanted to go with the most economical tire which was the Primewell but they didn't have it in stock. Gil went out of his way to call other Wheel Works in the area and had the tires personally delivered. About an hour later they received the tires but they were the wrong type. They were actually the Firestone all weather tire instead of the Primewell. Gil acknowledged the error and gave me the Firestone tires which were more expensive for the price of the cheaper Primewell tire for the inconvenience. That is how you do business. He apologized and made it right. I want to give kudos to Steven and Gil for their great customer service. I appreciate the fact that they rectified the problem and were considerate to the fact that it had cost me some extra time to wait to get the correct tires. Because of their assistance and the fact that they took care of me, consider me a Wheel Works customer for life. It is rare in today's world that a business genuinely cares about their customers. Thank you Steven and Gil for treating me with respect and rectifying the problem. I hope that their supervisors can give them some positive recognition for a job well done. This goes out to the Barshawn, Luis, and the staff on Sunday 8/18. My husband scheduled an appointment for an oil change first thing as they opened. He was able to get priority over those who walked in before him. The oil change included the normal maintenance work and inspection for a cheaper price than other competitors. Tons of coupon/discounts are on their website. They recommended new tires and honor the Costco prices and promotions, but why not get it at Wheelworks who also do alignments? Had a flat tire because of a nail but they did a pretty well rounded job on putting on the new one. They balanced it out afterwards too and made sure that I knew everything that was going on in regards to my tire. Only downside was that it was suppose to be done within the hour but ended up taking longer since they were short handed. I went to Wheel Works for my life time warranty on my alignment for my car. Wheel Works then said I needed 4 new tires. Well I bought the needed 4 new tires and got the alignment. Then when I picked up the car Wheel Works said I needed a new arm for the car for $1,600! Well, I already spent $1,600 for 2 new arms at the Magnussen Toyota dealership in 11/2016 so I just brought my car to Toyota since the arms should be under warranty. Toyota said the arms were fine on the car and I did not need a new arm! Toyota took pictures of the intact arms. I am so upset that I had to waste my time on an inaccurate problem. read more

I am waaay late writing a review for this place. I bought some tires here back in October 2013. The sales person was Barshawn Haynes. It was an exceptional experience. When I buy tires I always go online and do my research (tirerack.com, Consumer Reports, etc). I found some highly rated tires for my Nissan. These are odd sized tires that are not common for many cars, so finding them is not easy. I first called Americas' Tire Company which was right around the corner from my house. They told me that the tire I wanted was not common and that it would have to be ordered. So I asked them how long it would take. They said they'd have to call me back with an answer. Nothing wrong with that. So I left my number. I never got a call back. I called them back only to get a bit more of the run around. I then called another smaller mom and pops type of tire company locally. They could get the tire on special order, but it was going to cost considerably more. I tried a couple of more shops with similar experiences. I don't know why I called them last. Honestly, there was no reason. But when I called Wheel Works, Barshawn stepped up and helped me out. He had product knowledge no one else had. Explained to me that the tire was not typically in stock because as far as he knew it was only used for one make and model of vehicle. However, he said that he could specially order it. I asked how long that would take. He said within a few days, which worked perfectly for me. What was also good with Wheel Works is that the price that they offered was equal to the lowest price for that same tire that I was able to find advertised elsewhere. So I didn't have to check if they had a price matching promo or ask if they would do that which is typically a common thing. They were already at the best price. All the guys working in the shop were really nice. I also happened to be a bit rude that day as I was in a hurry and pulled my car up in front of their garage blocking it off. I could tell after I did that it was an obstruction to them. Rather than say something to me, or get upset, they made an unoffensive joke about it. They could have used that as an opportunity to get frustrated or nasty with me, but didn't. Barshawn was a nice guy. Spent time to talk to me about the product and the services that their business offer. All in all this shop was a good experience for price, sales and service quality and speediness of getting the tire swap completed. Although I live about 15-20 miles away from this shop and now have other Wheel Works closer to my new home, I am seriously going to drive the distance back to this place for my future business as it left such a good impression on me. Brought my old lexus here to get my brakes checked and they told me that bushings were cracked, rotors needed to be replaced, and brake pads were gone and it was going to cost me $1,400 to fix it. This is the best tire place I been to. They were the oly place that had the high performance potenza tires for our bmw 325 and the matched tirerack.com price so I got it done right on the spot. They provide free rotation and balancing for life time of my tires. BMW was not happy that I didn't pay them 300$ extra for OEM install lol. Two year latter and it looks like For once I might get the full rating out of my tires. Going yearly makes sure the tires are aligned and not wearing down. I will use them to service my beamer once my warranty runs out for oil and suspension system. I've come here a few times over the past couple of years when I needed new tires. And every single time, without exception, the staff here has been amazing. They've helped me research the right tires, took the time to price compare them online (and price matched when they found a lower price!), and just generally did everything possible to help me out (including accommodating some weird scheduling requests from me). Look, no one comes to a tire shop for fun -- you're usually there because you had something go wrong with your car. These guys understand that, and go out of their way to turn a crappy situation into a good experience. I felt very upset and frustrated about their way to treat customer like this. I had an appointment and I told them I will wait for there since the person told me that they need 1.5 hour to change my 2 tires. But after 2 hours, my car was still in the parking lot. They hadn't even started on my car. I felt it's really strange. I asked them why and No one answered me. If I didn't remind them, I might have to wait 8 hours until they were closed. I was not sure they forgot my car or doing this in purpose. One more hour later, I found my car was back to the parking lot again and no one told me anything. I checked the new installed tires, and I felt very surprised that the new tires are very dirty, greasy and dust. Some white glue stuck on the tires. They looked as used tires. I really doubt if they are new. I thought I could leave or ready to leave, but they told me that my car need alignment, I felt really upset. I asked why didn't let me know early? I told them very clear. at the beginning They said we were busy. I wondered if they did alignment check. If so, they were supposed to ask me right away. They would not take my car to the parking lot. However, they took my car back for alignment. I paid about $450 for two tires and waited for more than 4 hours. Don't you think this is so ridiculous! It shouldn't take 4 hours to change two tires and alignment. Also No one followed up. In the result, and let me waited for over 4 hours. Damn. I feel very disappoint about wheel works in Mountain View. I can't trust them at all. They are nice only for sales but not for the services. Also they are not honest with quotes. They lead you to spend more if you are not careful or you don't know car well. In this point, I like Goodyear and American tires. With my experience, I would not recommend anyone use them. read more
