Will not work with disabled. I drive a wheelchair modified van, I am a quadriplegic driver. The manager was very nice about telling me he couldn't accommodate my wheelchair van because there was no seat and I had hand controls. It's not the managers fault it's a company thing. I just got some all-terrain Michelin tires on my car. I had been shopping around different tire stores in the Oakland area and they had the best service. They didn't have the exact tire I was looking for, but they ordered it and had it ready the following morning. I went in and had the tires put on in about an hour. They got started immediately after I got there. The sales manager got me set up with free rotations and the free 80,000 mile warranty. She was really great. read more

I don't want to discredit any of the less-than-positive reviews of other reviewers; HOWEVER, I AM FLABBERGASTED THAT ANYONE COULD HAVE ANYTHING NEGATIVE TO SAY ABOUT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE OR REPAIR WORK DONE AT THIS AMAZING SHOP. I recently purchased a CPO 2013 Audi A4 with 12,500 ml and was shocked when I immediately wanted to be driving my Chevy Cruze again!!! No lie -- the handling, steering and breaking were a nightmare on the highway and during my first week of ownership I was SERIOUSLY disappointed with my purchase. And we all know, you can't just take a car back to the dealer. Fast forward, it turned out that the issue was not my beautiful German-engineered vehicle, but the Pirelli Four Season tires that came as standard equipment. I feel terribly for the previous owner who only experienced the car on these tires! I decided to hand wash my car a week after I got it. I ran over a nail on my way out of the car wash --what a nightmare. Long story short, I made it to Wheel Works, because they were right down the road and open till 6PM on a Saturday. The employees at this store COULD NOT BE ANY MORE COURTEOUS OR HAVE ANY GREATER INTEGRITY. As a new car owner, without a clue, they could have told me anything and taken every dollar I had. Instead, Francesco said that he would patch my tire, even though it was obvious they were closing shop for the day. All of the mechanics were professional, personable and ready to help in any way they could. I explained that I had a feeling the tires on my car were significantly hindering it's performance. They said that I shouldn't "waste my money" on tires that had two to three years of travel left in them. At my request they provided me with a very clear quote on three different possible replacement tires. The most surprising thing is that they REFUSED TO TAKE MONEY FROM ME FOR THEIR TIME AND SERVICE. Seriously, the manager did not charge me for the tire patch, weight balance or labor. Francesco literally said ' I love what I do and can't take your money.' Amazing!!! I knew instantly that this would be my go to tire/oil change retailer. I was so impressed and also so convinced that the tires on my car where going to cause me to be in an accident, I researched online and found a ton of reviews condemning my Pirelli's. I went back into Wheel Works five days later and another set of technicians and manager Roberto Coto advised that if I wanted to change the tires, I would see significant improvement in all aspects of driving if I went with Potenza RE97AS 245/40R18. The did not try to sell me; I insisted on the tire change for fear of my life. OMG!!! It's like it's another car all together and everything that I expected from a $40,000.00 car. The tires are PERFECT, the alignment is perfect and I have had a blast driving the past day. I got from San Leandro to Livermore in like 22 minutes, plowing through corners masterfully at 70+, totally controlling my position on the road. Literally, it was a night and day difference! Roberto did an amazing job and I wouldn't hesitate for one second to take my car back or recommend the service to friends. Sure, I waited an extra 40 mins or so, but who cares (!!!) --THE WORK WAS IMPECCABLE and everyone was working diligently to process the work load. No one standing around with their thumb up their ass. My best advice is don't go here if you're in a rush maybe. They care about the work and want to get it right!!! The waiting is insignificant and the service is A+++. They made a $1000.00 sale because they did incredible work and provided amazing customer service. read more

Went back for rotation and balance today (11-20-2011). I had purchased the lifetime package when I purchased the tires. Guy checked the tires while the car was outside and said "OK" and took it inside for the service. The first tire comes off and immediately there is a problem. Now all of a sudden there is too much wear (a wee bit on the inside of one front tire) and now they cannot rotate the tires -- company policy. More like company rip-off. They sell you lifetime service for the tires then refuse to do it -- but they are glad to quote you a price on replacement tires! When I complain, the manager THREW a copy of the warranty at me and said "maybe you should have read this." I told him I would ultimately buy tires but I'd never buy them from their company again, to which he replied "big deal." DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS COMPANY. They do not stand behind their own lifetime service agreement. Their only goal is to get you back in the door and try to sell you new tires. My tires had roughly 20K miles on them and very decent tread. While the manager quoted all sorts of "state code" that prevented him from rotating and balancing the tires, the shop down the street had no problems performing the service. Of course I had to pay them but it was still cheaper than buying new tires that weren't necessary. read more

The long and short of it is, I would never do business at this place because it's run by a couple of very questionable characters. I obviously cut out as soon as I realized what Jim and Roberto were trying to do so if you're looking for a review of the actual quality of the work they do, this is not the right review for you. Yesterday, I called these guys and got a quote for a set tires from Jim. I then snooped around on the web and found a shop in Stockton that does the same thing for about $200 less so I called them to see if they price match. This time around, I talked to Roberto and he told me that they in fact do price match, and I provided him with the name of the business and the number to call. Now, mind you the number I gave him was a 209 number and I also specifically asked if Stockton prices were matched so there should have been no confusion at the time about whether or not the shop is 5 or 10 mins away from them. He tells me that he'll call them and call me back within an hour. After two hours, I called him back to see if he has checked with them and he says he hasn't had time to yet. By then it's almost 6 so I tell him if I can schedule an appointment for the next day pending his price match verification. So we go ahead and make an appointment for 10am the next morning. This morning, I drove over to their shop promptly at 10 and I was happy to see that they weren't too busy. I met a guy by the counter and he identified himself as Roberto so I told him I'm the price match guy from yesterday afternoon. Now, here is where it starts to get really interesting. Roberto: I'm so sorry. I realized when I was about to call the number that it was in Stockton and that's too far so we're not going to be able to price match. Me: OK. Why didn't you call me to let me know when you knew I had an appointment? Roberto: Oh, I did. Me: I have no missed calls from you. When did you call. Roberto: I called you after 6. In fact, I called you twice. (I showed him my phone and he insists that he called me multiple times...like I would have to delete his missed calls). Me: You should have left a message. Roberto: Well, I called you twice! Me: Where is Jim? Can I talk to him? Roberto: Sure you can. (Walking out and shouting out loudly to Jim) Hey Jim, didn't we call this guy twice yesterday? Jim: (Walking up to us). Yes we did. I called you a couple of times. Roberto did to. (I'm thinking at this point, how does Jim even know who the hell I am when he has been pulled into this conversation with no context whatsoever? But I already know the answer...it doesn't matter.) Me: Why didn't you leave me a message? Jim: (Screws up the story) We did! Me: You both left me messages? Roberto: He did. I didn't! (I know AT&T is bad but this is the first time I've missed multiple calls and a message from the same number...especially when my phone was on the whole time) Me: (At this point, I'm laughing at how bad these guys are). Frustrating experience. I got 12,000 miles on 70,000 tires. Various possible causes. I was told they would research and call me on this They never called. When I called them it felt like they were trying to make a case that this was my responsibility but the reality was much murkier. They offered to "do me a solid" and inspect suspension for free instead of charging $40. The inspection seemed like a reasonable idea to get to the bottom of the situation but I checked with other stores and found there was a company-wide promotion for this inspection (and a series of others also included) for only $10. So the free inspection wasn't so a big favor after all. Overall I was left with the sense that these guys were not so reliable and trustworthy. I'd suggest going elsewhere. read more

Ray the Service Manager is the best. The service managers at this place always seem to make a bad situation into a good one.

For starters my co worker called in and made arrangement for me to purchase new tires and was quoted an amount so he went ahead and made the appointment for me since the price sounded reasonable with the "house tire". The next day I took my car in and they pulled my quote up and the guy at the counter said it was $100 more then what my co worker had told me it was gonna be...hmm strange...right? Well I told him the quoted price was this much and he then played dumb saying "oh I guess he wanted the cheaper tire.." My guess is because he seen a girl come in he figured he could get me for a few more bucks...WRONG! Left my car and went on about my day...got a call back and was told my car was ready to go. When I got there a semi doing there drop off was blocking my car...great! I'm gonna have to wait till they leave...so I walk in and some other guy is now at the front counter; very sarcastic! He got my paper work and made a smart comment saying I'd have to wait till the truck moved so I could leave...no shit Sherlock! I grabbed my keys since he didn't hand me my stuff, I guess he couldn't move his arm. And again was like yea your gonna need those....annoying!! Considering I had to wait for you lazy ass delivery driver to move!! These people act like a couple of jack asses! Hate to give this place a bad rating , but I brought new tires and paid for the new tire valves. A couple weeks later I needed to do some work and noticed that the tire valves were the original old ones. The tire valves had never been replaced(same old markings). So I wonder how many customers brought new tires and valves and was never changed out. Either just lazy or is done on purpose? What else do customers pay for and don't get in return? read more

I dropped in on a Saturday to get a new battery and John started helping me immediately. Before he was even done ringing me up, Adam was already working on installing it and finished within a few minutes. He then started doing some tests to make sure everything was running smoothly. Adam even took the time to give me extra advice for keeping the battery running longer in my old car. I am so glad I found Wheel Works on Marina Blvd! I relocated to San Leandro from a few towns away a couple years ago, and didn't want to drive 20 miles to my old mechanic (who I loved!) every time something went wrong with my car. So I got a referral to a local mechanic from a friend here who works in the industry, but not with the guy he recommended. Long story short, that mechanic sold me a bad car battery, then when I brought the car back because it wouldn't hold a charge, replaced it with another bad battery (so I bought yet another battery from my old mechanic and suddenly my car stopped ending up with a dead battery). And, while the new mechanic was nice, he couldn't diagnose an issue I had with my car (turned out to be the exhaust system), and completely missed that my master cylinder was leaking (that's brakes, people!) and could fail if I pressed the brake pedal too hard. Yikes. So, because they were only 3 miles away and I often drive by, I ended up going to Wheel Works on Marina Blvd. And guess what? They nailed every problem immediately, and fixed everything - the first time. Awesome. And the customer service provided by Ray and Jeremy (manager and asst. manager, I think?) was on par with my favorite, old mechanic. They were friendly, took time to explain exactly what I needed and why, and for one of the bigger jobs, Ray even dropped me by my house when all the customers had been taken care of so I didn't have to wait all day in the shop. I know lots of garages do that if you don't live too far away, but they don't all do it, so it's nice when you find one that will. I will say they seem to be a popular location - probably because they get it right - so don't think you're going to walk in and walk out with a serviced car an hour later. I'd strongly recommend making an appointment in advance, and call ahead the same day as your appointment to make sure everything's on track, because if they're down a guy or two (it can happen anywhere), it might take them a little longer to get to your car, even with an appointment. But I'm willing to do that, because I want my car fixed right the *first* time, and for a reasonable price, and it doesn't hurt that the customer service rocks. I have been here three times and will never go back. The first time I got a couple of tires from them. Good tires, good price, took twice as long to put them on as the hour they quoted me, but I thought I'd go back for an oil change. Made an appointment for an oil change, dropped off my keys and they said it would take under an hour. I came back and hour later and sat to wait, and wait, and wait. Finally 45 minutes after the hour quoted time they were done. Almost 2 hours for an oil change, with an appointment. For some reason I thought I would give them one more chance. I made an appointment for 1:00 for an oil change. Dropped off the key, the guy told me about an hour, and I went shopping. I came back and hour and a half later and the guy told me I was next. Seriously? So I asked him how long once they got my car in the garage and he told me half an hour. I told him forget it, and he asked if I'd like to make another appointment. That part was at least kind of funny. Moral is, these guys don't care how important your time is to you and I still don't know what the point of the appointment is. What can I say, first time I went there I was treated well and then they told me I needed front A arm bushings and showed me what they had to offer. Well I knew I could get better parts then they could ( Audi factory ones) and they agreed to install it but with no warranty, no problem. I came back 2 weeks later, and with new policies in place they told me NO. No, we do not want your money, new co. policy dictates no part repair with customer parts. SOL I was told (after waiting an hour) then I was told to go to this new place Junior and Nicks, they could do it..... well, after visiting the new place and then calling them back to schedule a repair, 3 times later.... no call back and not open when I swing by..... Quoted me a certain price and sent me to another location in which they charged me more then the original price???? Is it because I had my wife go there?? I don't like writing bad reviews but this place is the f'n worst. Went in to get a flat fixed. They said it would take all day and come back at 6. No problem. I left my rim and tire. They then called back a couple hours later to say it's fixed. No problem. What triggered me was I asked them to put it on my car for me and the guy she asked which I think was a manager said it would be 45 minutes before they can do it so I would have to wait. I don't do Yelp reviews, but I just have to give it to the guys and gals on Marina. They are always very friendly and professional. Adam is the mechanic that worked on my car today, and he seems very knowledgeable. Though, I just drove my car home today, I'm confident that he did a good job. And if not, I'm confident they will go out of their way to rectify any wrong doings. They, in the past, have even rented me a rental car (for free) so that I could get to work, since repairs were taking much longer than expected. Now that's taking care of the customer! read more

They just lost my business. Had the car three hours for an oil change and called to tell us they couldn't do it because the sump plug was on too tight. When we picked up the car, the guy made a snide "should have made an appointment" comment when we asked what they were doing with it for three hours. Drove the car straight to jiffy lube and they got the plug out without a single hesitation. The guy barely used any force. Wheel works left us in a bad situation and thank goodness jiffy lube knew what they were doing. read more

I've been bringing my car here for quite a while for oil changes! My car requires synthetic oil which means it's that much pricier. I am able to get my oil change here for a lot cheaper than most places which I love! Downside is, they take forever even with an appointment and you sitting in the lobby waiting for your car to be done! I am not sure if they overbook, but I find myself waiting an additional 30-45 mins just for them to get started on my car. When I get my car back it always seems to need additional work or have something else they need to give me an estimate on! No I will not pay for you to have my light bulb replaced for $50 in labor when I can buy the bulb for less than $5 and do it myself!! read more

The absolute worst experience I've had in a long time. I have an older Dodge van and it had hubcaps on the wheels. They dented each and every hubcap and didn't even say that there was a problem. I have a tent trailer that needed tires. Didn't want to go to an RV shop due to cost. I called around to local tire shops and no one wanted to let me bring the trailer in; said I needed to take the wheels off the unit first. I called and spoke to Roberto at the Marina Blvd Wheel Works. He suggested if I came in when it wasn't busy that they could accommodate me (Issue is it is a small lot to move around in). The gentleman who did the work listened to my needs (where to place the jack is critical on a trailer) and did the work fast. I was on the road in about an hour. Price was excellent. Seems like people give mixed reviews on this place. This is my experience. I'm really picky with tires so every time I switch out tires I either stick with one I really like, or one that I know it will perform well and I want to try it on my car. I know Big O matches online prices within reasons and that would be my place to go, but that was when I was working closer to South Bay. Now that I'm working closer to Oakland, it's time for me to find another shop that can help me out with the tires I like and not charge me an arm and a leg. Called Wheel Works the day before I go in, locked down a price (pretty reasonable), and they said they can do it the next day, which is a pretty good turn around if you're looking for specific tires. I really like how they open late so I don't have to get of work early or anything. So off I went. Gave it a 4 star because I was just sitting there for 10mins with nobody at the front... But as soon as I got a hold of a person, I get in and out in about an hour, not too bad overall. read more

Convenient hours sold me on this place. They also have prompt, expedient service. I did notice that there were quite a few negative reviews, but my first experience with them has been great and their prices are reasonable! I'm getting two tires replaced right now and they have friendly, courteous professionals. My only minor gripe is that they keep it a little bit too chilly in the waiting area and the tv was set on those abominable infomercials #HomerSimpsonScream. Lol.
