I ducked in here for a late lunch between errands. Originally I was going to go with the tried and true (Au Bon Pain) for the grab-and-get-out experience, but the line was slooow and the cash register line did not look promising as it was also stretching back and featured a mass of seething customers. I getting hungry, and with the time for my brow wax appointment looming, I decided to check out Which Wich. I must have timed it right, as there were only two people ahead of me in the line. The customization looked ambitious, so I decided to grab a bag for the #8- Banh Mi as this is not something I could find at the ordinary sandwich place. I decided to go with the standard option- cucumber, siracha mayo, jalapeno, cilantro, and pork. I was a bit wary of the pork, but figured in for a penny, in for a pound. The fountain drink selections are solid - they have Barq's root beer - so I grabbed my drink, secured a seat, and waited for my order to be called. All was well until I heard, "Banh Mi, no name" called from the counter. Apparently, I was meant to write my name on the bag. For some reason, that had escaped me, though to be fair there were a lot of decisions to be made when it came to crafting my sandwich - even though I went the lazy route. Perhaps it is time for an eye exam. That aside, I found the sandwich to be flavorful, with just the right kick of spice afforded by the jalapeno and siracha. The bread was crisp, without shredding the roof of my mouth, unlike some other banh mis I've sampled. When I looked at my receipt, I noticed that I can go online to take a survey and write down the code to redeem for a free cookie (w/purchase) on my next trip here. alright, let's start with the basics... first of all, it's located in the 'pedway.' born and raised in suburbia...like pleasantville suburbia, i had no idea what this meant. so for all you other pleasantville natives, this refers to the bottom floor of this building - like it's basement. I guess it connects to the underground trains (which i know have a name too, but i can't remember). second, 'block 37' is the loop's version of what we suburbians are accustomed to know as malls. in suburbia, malls are typically stand-alone, gigantic buildings. here in the city, i guess they're all just stuck to huge skyscrapers - all of which look the same. ok, so i'll admit it, i had a little (lot of) trouble finding this place. three months into working in the loop and i still have yet to figure out how everything works on to the sammiches!! which wich was definitely worth my (time-consuming) adventure. not your typical place - sammiches are completely customize-able! i went for the buffalo chicken... deli sliced chicken with all my favorite veggies and sauces. bread was mediocre, hot pepper mix was yumm. oh and how can i forget? i paid $1.94 for my sammy and a drink. gotta love those eclubs. I'll admit that at first it is kind of intimidating how you have to pick a bag that corresponds to the category of sandwich you want. i was in the mood for pickles and pork, so i got the Cuban. the gf got a spicy mayo shrimp po'boy. the sandwiches look small in size, but they are heavily packed with dense consumable contents. idk, i'm kind of at a loss for words because the sandwich choices, options, and add on's are literally endless. the wheat bread was reminiscent of potbellies when toasted but the flavor of Which Which is off the Heezy. I have gone to this place a few times for lunch and I enjoy it enough to go back. The options are almost limitless. You start with the bag of the type of sandwich you want then you pick which of those categories you would like. Then you build your own sandwich. The sandwiches are pretty good and filling. The service is a little slow even when it is not that busy. There are a lot of choices plus they have Mr. Pibb which I enjoy. I would recommend this place. Try one of the Italians! read more

The taste of the sandwich totally depends on what you put on it. You pick your bread, meat, toppings, dressing and condiments by filling out the menu/sandwich bag before ordering. Today I tried the small Italian sandwich. I must say I was underwhelmed. The meats and veggies were fresh, however the bread was very dry and hard. It reminded me of saltine crackers. I'm a bread lover so if the bread isn't right is hard for me to enjoy my sandwich. Not sure if I'll give them a second try or just go to potbelly's next time I have a taste for a good sandwich. read more

This place is very a interesting and unique version of subway. You walk in and choose a paper bag with a number (1 for turkey, 4 for chicken, etc). Then you take a marker and fill out the info on the bag- how big, what kind of bread, what kind of cheese, what vegetables you'd like, etc. Then you turn it into the cashier and pay (about $5.75 for a 7 inch.) I had a turkey on wheat, toasted, with mozzarella, lettuce, tomato, mushroom, olive, cucumber, oil, vinegar, and oregano. It was very tasty- bread was nice and soft, veggies were fresh. But even though I chose tons of veggies, they only barely put a few of each on the sub. I would have like more stuff on it. Seating area is small inside but decent. And as soon as we sat down, someone came and wiped down our table- a nice touch. I would come back here for a quick and yummy lunch! read more

Went back a second time as I thought I'd give them another chance. Ordered egg salad again. This time the girl toasted it without telling me. I told her I did not like warm egg salad. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. I take a ho hum approach to sandwich shop, as they're just a place to get lunch and get back to work. But when I had to work at my Loop office on Saturday, I realized not much was open. I remembered Gallery 37 having some downstairs options and knew they'd be open since the "mall" caters to tourists. So I grabbed a sandwich here. I'm a vegetarian and I loved that it had several options for us. I also loved the unique options to add to sandwiches (hummus, house chips, dried cranberries, walnuts). Being a first timer, I ordered a "medium" thinking that would be a sufficient size. It was HUGE, far too big for one meal. But it was a fabulous lunch! read more

I ordered online with uber eats and saw that is was "being prepared" for 15 minutes and then deliver took 13 minutes, so not bad really. The sand which is so big! And full of toppings. My only complaint was it was a little salty, other than that really pleased. read more

I went in with some friends today. First off, it wasn't so busy so we got to order pretty quickly. There are so many choices of sandwiches to choose from it is overwhelming but awesome for those picky eaters out there. Grab a bag according to the category of your sandwich (vegetarian, Italian, breakfast,etc.) and then choose what you want on it. I loved it. Tasty and good prices. I love this place! I have been to several other locations in addition to this one and the sandwiches are always fresh and delicious. I generally order a chicken or chicken salad sandwich, and you can basically whatever toppings or sauces you want (they have a ton of choices). I will say that when I went here during lunch hours, it took at least 10-15 minutes after I ordered to get my food, which isn't that long, but not fast for a quick sandwich place. Other than that, I love the number of choices you have and different combinations of sandwiches you can make. read more

I doubt I'll go back, at least during the work week. Went in on a Friday at 12:45, filled out the bag to order a turkey sandwich, waited 20 minutes, then realized they made me a corned beef sandwich instead. They figured out the error, but I still had to wait another 5 min for the turkey sandwich, with no explanation. The guy that handed me the sandwich tried to cheer me up after he could see the anger on my face, so that was admirable. The sandwich itself was OK- not as good as Potbelly's though. Love it. You can be as creative as you want in putting together your sandwich, meaning there are endless combinations. The food is the fresh, the service is good, and the wait isn't long. I would recommend that you don't come in too late in the day (which I've done a few times) as they will run out of random ingredients and ruin the composition of your perfect sandwich. The only thing I would caution about is that for first timers the system can be extremely confusing. Paper bags and sharpies and what not... I had some trouble finding the place the first time, but just be sure to head to the basement level and you will find the restaurant there. read more

Which wich was a disaster as far as I am concerned! The do-it-yourself atmosphere has reached a new low here. One does everything except make the mediocre sandwiches. And it is expensive. I spent $12.35 on a modified Reuben, chips (packaged Doritos) and a fountaion drink -- modified meaning I ordered only corned beef, Swiss cheese and mustard. None of the goopy slaw or kraut for me! And it still took over 15 minutes to get my sandwich. They had one poor guy making all the sandwiches and screaming out names badly. To me, I waited a long time for little results. The sandwich was pretty dry and I got one shaved slice of Swiss cheese as a reminder I ordered it. Subway is faster, cheaper and you get better results. That's all. read more

They really need to do something about this place's layout. There's a stand out front with the bags you use to order, but there's also a wall of bags immediately as you walk in, which creates a situation like I found myself in this afternoon. I had filled out my order and thought I was in line, but it turned out I was standing behind a group of 3 or 4 people who couldn't decide what they wanted, were taking pictures of the menu on their phones, changing what they wanted on their little bags- basically after a few minutes it seemed pretty clear they weren't ready. So I made my way to the register since I had been ready for about five minutes, at which point the dad of the group started bitching at me that they were in line. I pointed out that they were still deciding, to which he whined "but we're in the line, dude". So I left, because the food's just not good enough to deal with drama. I will say the Cobb salad wrap is pretty good and the employees are always very nice. But the ordering system is a hot mess. read more

I went here for the first time today and won't be back. No one helped us for 10 minutes (no other customers and 3 employees). Finally someone came up, I assumed to great us, but he just said excuse me and grabbed himself a Gatorade. When we were finally help the man was extremely pushy and obnoxious. Just opened in Block 37. I like the ordering system - you check boxes off on a cute paper bag - and they have a lot of interesting combos you don't see elsewhere. I guess my problem was getting a salad (yeah, yeah) - the whole thing was meh. First, I got teriyaki chicken, which came out resembling sliced turkey lunchmeat with no teriyaki flavor whatsoever. Second, the lettuce was simple iceberg, disappointing, and the veggies were sparse. Third, they forgot an ingredient, which happens, but when I went back they said it would take 5+ minutes to prepare said ingredient. They did offer me free chips, which was nice (didn't take them up on it). I might try again next time for their sandwiches, but the meat on my salad really did throw me off. Finally, the space is kind of spare and uncomfortable - the tables and chairs reminded me of a bus terminal or something. Not a pleasant place to eat in. read more

I really liked Which Wich! I thought it was super fun, quick and tasty. I got the Black Bean patty on white bread with pepper jack cheese, lettuce, onion, tomatoes, pickles and Dijon (toasted, because hot's better). I saw that someone else thinks that these are the Morning Star black bean patties - that I can't really comment on because I've never had the Morning Star...BUT, I thought that it was a delcicious sandwich and I think we have to give them credit for the right amount of black bean, delicious cheese (and pepper jack is usually not my favorite), lettuce, etc. It came out hot and I thought the bread was delicious! Not too bready (i.e. very thick bun), but just right and tasted fresh. I am really looking forward to returning and trying something different! I must say that I walked in a little embarrassed because I was confused by the paper bag options until I realized that there are different paper bags for "Veggie, Meat, Chicken, Turkey, etc." However, I did not feel rushed, and the final product did not disappoint. read more

Just ordered a breakfast sandwich from this place via uber eats. Not going to complain that it was cold when I got it, my issue is that the sandwich was horrible. I was very surprised that they used the fake eggs. I hate fake eggs! I've never had a breakfast sandwich from a sub shop that didn't use real, scrambled eggs. Eggs tasted very spongy and gross. Previous to this experience I heard only good things...maybe they should stick to lunch sandwiches. What a let down, especially since the sandwich cost me $15 read more
