We came here while on vacation at PJ Hoffmaster Park. It did not disappoint. They serve Hudsonville ice cream, which is always delicious. The service was quick despite the lines. They have plenty of parking. It was a great place for a sweet treat while camping. read more

Brought kids here to get some ice cream and food and not only did it take over 45 minutes for my daughter to get her fried pickles, but then they came not even close to being done. They were doughy. I had to go up to the window 3 times asking for them because everyone that had been in line behind us for food had come and gone long before we were even close to getting them. Every time I visit Grand Haven, I hit up Whippi Dip with family ! It is hands down one of my favorite ice cream places. The vibes just scream summer, with its chocolate drip paint decor across the roof, mini outdoor play park for kids equipped with swings, slides, playground, and hammocks of all colors. There are lots of benches in the grass area behind the store. I cannot say I have tried anything other than ice cream but it always hits the spot! I usually have a waffle cone with butter pecan but recently tried a Michigan favorite Deer Traxx which has fudge, chocolate, and mini peanut butter cups. Service can sometimes take longer than you think (even with a regular line) but it's a small business so it's understandable. They have a great outdoor seating area which has a kids playground, swings, benches in the grass area and some hammocks. read more

We love going out for ice cream! Whippi-Dip is our go-to! Jeff had a small hot fudge sundae - no nuts Andi was everything he wanted it to be. Made with soft serve vanilla and lots of hot fudge. I had a small Oreo Cheesecake Flurry. For some reason I thought it would have been cheesecake flavored ice cream. There was nothing that lead me to believe that, just my own thoughts I guess? The cheesecake was actually little chunks of cheesecake! They were REAL good. If I order that again I will probably have fruit or hot fudge instead of Oreos - personal preference. Also ordered a little pup cup for Brady who wasn't able to join us for this outing like he usually is. He loved it! read more

Someone had to say it. Great the last few years. although they need to train the new people more. i get it they are new its not them. its whoever trained them. please train them. went there 5 times this summer already and every time it was a bad mistake. love this place though. Wide array of different types of food. Chili dogs, burgers and sandwiches as well as ice cream. The service is always very good. They hire a lot of good folks. It only takes one though. I'm here a couple times a week and am always happy, usually get the same thing. Today I placed an order and it didn't come out as usual. I questioned the young woman and was given a very terse response. Quite out of character. Next time I'll keep going when I see her working. read more

This is our favorite stop after the beach at Hoffmaster! Good old fashioned soft serve. Great service from the High School kids who run it during the summer! Outdoor seating and a nice little playground for the kids! Is it the best, probably not. Is it one of our favorite places on vacation? Definitely! Enjoy the laidback vibe on the patio! read more

I had a very disappointing visit here today. The window girls were kind and friendly but very unhappy with the service. They forgot to give us our sloppy joes than when we told them it took another 10 minutes to get them while others after us kept getting their food. And the sloppy joes were on special. When they handed out the orders they just set out 2-3 orders at once for several customers and we had to, on our own, look In the bags to see what order belong to who. Ordered a caramel shake and all the caramel was at the bottom. I came from Grand Haven too. read more

What a great find! We had a Reuben with french fries that were nice and crispy and hot. Then each had a large hand scooped ice cream bowl that was fantastic!! Salted caramel and traverse Bay cherry chocolate. Can't wait to go back!! read more

So glad my boyfriend and I decided to stop here and get lunch! Strawberry shake , coney dog , fries and crispy chicken sandwich were all delicious! Better than any Dairy Queen grill and chill food! Service was fast and friendly! We live fairly close to here and used to frequent it quite often. In 2021 the service started getting bad and now in 2022 it is downright horrible. We have tried on a few occasions to give them another try and after tonight we will never be back. We will drive further down to fruitport and have ice cream at the one ice cream shop that is spectacular. They need to hire someone to manage these teenagers they have working. read more

I have been a Whippi-Dip customer since I was a kid (many years) Just got back visiting Muskegon and it was great! The prices aren't too bad and the ice cream is delicious. It is a landmark for sure. Kaleb (with a K) was a delight; He could sell anything to anyone. He was funny and knew his business. He made the experience fun! What a great job Kaleb! I will be back next year. This place should be a landmark. My Mom came here as a child and then she brought me as a child. The food is nothing fancy but SOLID. Great place to go after mini golf, state park, or a beach day. I have many great memories with my Mom and my grandparents here. Still have a handful of wooden nickels too! read more

Bummer. Yelp says you are open til 11 pm on Thursdays. So we altered our route to make it and arrived at 10:05 pm. Your lights were on and windows open. We looked at your menu and after a few minutes one of your workers stuck their head out the window and said they already closed out their drawers and were closed. Hope someone fixes your hours of operation on Yelp so others don't go out of their way too only to be sorely disappointed on a Thursday too. read more

I've always loved Whippi-Dip's pork barbeques and onion rings in the past. This season though it's obvious that their recipe on the BBQ's have changed. The bun is huge to disguise the lack of meat and the sauce was just on the bottom of the bun. There was less than half of the meat that the sandwiches used to have. It took the taste of the sandwich from excellent to just okay. We were very disappointed and probably won't be back. read more

A solid second to Frosty Oasis as a childhood stopping place for ice cream. I'm not quite sure why we always ended up on the other end of town rather than here. Probably the only way to get us to church. And by us, I mean dad. Anyway, Whippi-Dip is closer to the ballparks we played at so we tended to stop here more often after home games. read more

A must when you are done at PJ Hoffmaster. Of course the ice cream is good, but it's also good for a burger or fries. The "World Famous BBQ" is not what I would consider "World Famous", but this is a family favorite stop when we head to the beach. read more

After a day at PJ Hoffmaster this was a welcomed pit stop for all the goodies your parents told you to take it easy on. We stocked up on soft serve (green apple, strawberry), ice cream, hot dogs, sliders, fries and onion rings. Don't worry about calorie counting when here. Just throw caution to the wind and enjoy some of the best comfort food around. read more

What a joke. 4 people working in the front and only one waiting on people. 2 were screwing around and 2 were eating ice cream. Waited a long time to get my 2 flurries. 1 small that had no fruit as ordered. Second was a large flurries that was only 3/4 filled. A small works have had more plus I ordered extra oreos and got hardly any. All this for the price of 13 dollars. RIP OFF. the help is terrible, well the ones that did any work. Never again Well, we tried again this year and it is worse than last year. 10:30 at night and they close at 11:00. Heavy set blonde girl didn't want to work and it showed. Shoved are food out the window never saying a word and slammed window closed. Everyone in line sat there with their mouth open not believing how she was acting. So, we tried another year and this place is terrible!! We will never return!!! Can I give less than 1 star??? read more

You'd think it was out in the middle of nowhere...but it's still worth going!! This has been -the- place for ice cream as well as BBQ sandwiches, Hotdogs, Burgers, Malts, Shakes, Slushies etc since my childhood. It's a family run place that is always great to visit. They have a nice area for kids to play outside and picnic tables to sit at. Don't forget to check the forecast with the weather rock. read more

After hanging out at the beach we had to stop by this place. I mean the name in itself is fantastic. However, the service was less then stellar. Maybe because it was a busy Sunday night. Also, I highly recommend not getting a cherry or strawberry slush, unless you really love the taste of sucking on a lemon or warhead. Seriously god awful. So incredibly sour. I had to order an ice cream to get the awful taste out of my mouth. And I mentioned they were so sour and the young girl said "uhh, yeah I guess that's just how they are". So I responded with, "perhaps one of you guys should taste test them". I love the hammocks, playscape and tire swings. read more

So, I don't do this, but I decided the Dip deserved a review... review. I know Whippi-Dip seems to mostly market itself as an ice cream place, but holy crap, they've kinda got it goin' on with their American-style food! My wife and I revisited with our puppy in tow, and ordered fries (crispy and well cooked (a bit too much salt)), corn dog (deliciously cooked and thinly breaded), and sloppy dog (sloppy joe in hotdog form with onions and cheese SUPER GOOD). Anyway, long story short, I'll definitely be going back for their food, but the ice cream is more of an after thought and while it's perfectly acceptable, is the only reason I'm docking a star. Nice job Whippi-Dip! read more

Holy smokes!!! While the lunch food is ok it's the ice cream is what you are going for!! My friend about died and went to heaven over the turtle sundae she got-- we also got the "tree"... 5 scoops ice cream, multitude of toppings (we stopped counting at 7) all served on a frisbee! I walked in and my little brother was already drooling at the smell of the store. Somehow you can smell the ice cream. There is a radius around the store where you can smell it. It's impressive. Maybe the body heat of all the workers creates a special environment that blasts the fumes of the store outdoors. But who knows. My little brother kept saying waffle bowl. His eyes rolled back and he said it again. Waffle bowl. Waffle bowl. Waffle bowl. His eyes were completely turned back and it was like a spirit spoke through him. Cappuccino crunch waffle bowl. I told him that I was going to get a waffle cone, and then he turned around, and then his neck spun on an axis toward me. The lights began flickering and all I could see were the whites of his eyes rolled back. They began to turn red and swell and then he quickly turned around, his neck snapped back and his eyes went down. The lights came back on and the workers were still there asking if we were ready. "Cappuccino crunch is pretty good. Get a waffle bowl." Said my brother as if nothing happened. Traumatized I just got the waffle cone, because my ego could not back down. But I did get cappuccino crunch. The rest of my family got other ice creams piled atop cones and waffle cones, and they were all smalls. Small gets you three scoops atop a waffle cones. On the Fourth of July, I couldn't imagine anything more American. They give you one to two napkins and there are napkin holders with more. I grabbed a few. My IQ is 180 so I ate my cappuccino crunch with ease. It dripped on the ground but never onto my hand. Smoothly I licked the cone all the way till it was gone and then took my final crunch. Man that was good. Between a cappuccino and heath candy, this was the fusion I never knew I needed. Like an affogato from the candy shop, but not too sweet. My intelligence often limits me from enjoying simple pleasures, but this scratched the itch for me. I am a world renowned track athlete, and this was my first cheat day in 4 years. I treat cheat days like bachelors degrees. If I can't go that long, it's worth nothing. Paul's uncle was our cashier, and after the maze of employees scurried around each other like Times Square in NYC, they piled the ice cream up with ease. If I counted right, I think I saw 20 workers in there. Quite the operation. My little brother smiled at me as I ate my ice cream with ease. No mess.
