I'm not usually an oyster fan, but my associate highly recommended that I try the grilled oysters. I have to admit -- they did not disappoint. My associate also loved the tacos. He barely seemed to take a breath between bites. The star of the show, though... the fish and chips. Baby, YUM. They complemented each other perfectly -- the chips were fried to perfection, and so was the fish. The spiked hot chocolate was okay, but I'm weird about eating hot food and drinking a hot beverage at the same time. My Arnold Palmer was mid. The bread pudding was good, though I should have ordered the compote on the side. It slightly overpowered the dish. Sadly, I'm told this was one of their last days open. Came here for happy hour with coworkers and had a great time. They take reservations. The happy hour menu had a variety of seafood. We tried the coconut shrimp (which were large and tasty), $2 oysters, fish and chips, calamari, mussels. Drinks were $2 off during happy hour, and the cosmo was delicious. We also ordered the lobster roll and the lobster grilled cheese, which unfortunately were just eh. The crab bisque was creamy and filling. Went here for $1 Oysters on the third Monday of the month. The deal is only valid if you purchase a drink, so I ended up getting a glass of wine. I think overall it's a good deal and the oysters taste pretty good. I particularly love to drench mine with sauce and horseradish and they included that as well. I guess it says it all in the name...the oysters were the star of this meal. We came here as my man wanted rockerfeller oysters for his birthday. Every where else that recommended them weren't accepting reservations for the time we had wanted. The restaurant itself reminded me of saltline, but the food was not up to par. We spent A LOT of money for the food to be mediocre... I guess they work as a team and tip pull, however it was hard to get assistance for our group of 7... it was not busy so I don't it didn't make any sense. Rockerfeller oysters were 8/10...it was a good balance of bacon and cheese. Crispy duck rolls- 4/10 the inside was extremely soggy and I did not like that it was served with Thai chili...not a good mix of the flavors inside the rolls Coconut shrimp 2/10 it was so well done that the outer shell tasted burnt...again served with Thai chili. This made me question their menu at this point. Almost every dish was a Thai chili dish. Grilled oysters with bourbon sauce-5/10 it had a very weird bitter after taste Grilled oysters with thai chili! 10/10 amazing buttery taste with the Thai chili was amazing. It was so addictive we ordered 5 rounds of it. Scallops 7/10...was cooked very well, but it lacked so much flavor...sage was not present at all... but was the main name in the title. Rockfish 3/10 so so dry, for a plate over $30 bucks...it was terrible. It was so bitter. The sauce helped not one bit. The mac/cheese was so grainy...spinach was the only thing on the plate that had salt, but it was extremely cold. We arrived during happy hour with our dog to enjoy some oysters. The space is nice and we were looking forward to our first happy hour in a while. Things took a turn for the worse. There were stinging bees. Multiple angry, attacking bees. I had to sit still to avoid being stung while a bee crawled under my hair, over the back of my ear, and into my ear. It was horrifying. We moved to the other side of the patio. The bees followed and stung our dog. We also saw a guy walking in get stung on the hand. It's not their fault that bees exist and are attracted to areas with alcohol and food waste around. But it is their fault that they still charged us for a beer (that my husband had to chug while we fled) after we thankfully avoided anaphylaxis. One would have hoped they'd comp the beer for the trauma and close the freaking patio to avoid someone dying from an allergic reaction after a known swarm of angry bees attacked an unsuspecting customer(s). read more

Just came back from DC for a military reunion and to celebrate the Blackhorse Regiments 125 year birthday. DC was cold like Germany was back in the day so I guess that was in a way fitting for the occasion. While there my friend and fell in love with this seafood restaurant in DC called Whiskey & Oysters man their food was on another level ! I usually don't go for seconds but my babe knew it was a hit and didn't ask he just ordered me another one. He loved his drink. He's a Manhattan guy so that was his pick! Overall this little gem is going to have to be put in my DMV fave bookmarks. Service was great! The hostess was a bit out of it but our server made up for it. No manager presence but it's only rated two dollar symbols so the expectation wasn't there for me for this place. I was visiting Alexandria from out of town and we came here for dinner with friends. I really liked the menu which had a southern/ Cajun flare. It so happened to be lobster day coincidentally (who know), so they were running a special for buy one get one lobster roll 1/3 off. Given the proximity to Maryland, they also had a decent amount of crab on the menu, which I was happy about. For starters, we ordered calamari and Kung pao cauliflower. The cauliflower came with sweet chili sauce and was pretty good (but not at all healthy lol). The calamari was also one of the better things we ordered. The plate was enough for 4 people to share and came with a red sauce. For our mains, we ordered lobster rolls, the seafood Alexander pasta (with chicken instead) and I ordered the crab cakes which came with 2 sides. Overall, the consensus was that the apps were better than the mains. I ordered my crab cakes with asparagus and "sidewinder fries". I never had sidewinder fries before so that was new. They're like a cross between wedges and curly fries. The asparagus was tasty and nicely seasoned. I didn't really care for the mustard based sauce on the crab cakes but I appreciated that the crab cakes were nicely stuffed and the portion was good. It tasted fresh but something about the seasoning wasn't all there. The guys said the lobster roll was a bit small and the bread was just so so (bread can def make or break a lobster roll). The pasta was good but they apparently they charge a fee to substitute chicken (seems weird since chicken is cheaper but oh well). The service was attentive but a bit interesting. When we were first seated the hostess wanted to seat us in a back corner outside even though there was no one outside. We asked to be seated at a less isolated table. The waiter also seemed like he'd been smoking a bit lol. But no complaints on the speed of the service. Once we were seated and they took our orders, the food came very quickly. Ate at this location due to it being close by and seemed interesting to try. Regular food was good. Oysters were just kinda ok. Service was not so good. Oysters came out after dessert. Place closed as 9pm but was rushed since they said the kitchen closes at 8:30. Haven't been to a restaurant that closes the kitchen down before they officially close. I'm giving a 3 star because some of the food was cold after waiting for a long time to receive our food. The waitress said the restaurant was backed up even though there was hardly no one in there. I ordered the 2 jumbo crab cakes which was not jumbo at all. The crab cakes were cold with hot fries. I couldn't really enjoy my crab cakes because of it being cold but it's was tasty. I took home to heat up. The she crab soup was delicious and hot. The oyster Rockefeller was good also. I order deviled eggs top with fried oysters and they were good. Sooo this review is long over due because I've been to this restaurant at least 5 times . Decided to do a review because I actually never had a entree there, only appetizers. This time we had crab dip, deviled eggs , land and sea as the entree. Everything was yummy! The steak and crab cake of the land and sea dish were cooked to perfection. Our second time here as our son and daughter-in-law live in the area. The service both time was superb, everything they served this time and the last was outstanding and it is a beautiful restaurant. One of my staple restaurants every time i come to alexandria for a work trip. If you are a fan of oyster, this place is a MUST! My colleagues go crazy and order trays upon trays of oysters and they're cheap & fresh. I unfortunately do not eat oysters. I decided to get half a pound of shrimp and scallops tonight. The shrimp was pretty small unfortunately but it was still tasty. The scallops were HUGE and it is a bang for your buck. It comes with a cauliflower puree on the bottom and i wish they put more of that puree because it was creamy and went really well with the scallops.
