The ambience is exceptionally amazing.. loved it. The drinks were great and food was good. Loved the crispy broccolli. Boiled peanuts was a good addition. We tried most of the appetizers. Other than that the menu had very good additions and I am sure I missed some items to try. Mainly the whiskey flight, I will be back to try others definitely. We tried mostly of the cocktails and they were ok. Toddy was absolutely amazing and it's a must try one. Old fashion was not up to the mark though. They even have a good beer selection. This spot is a great choice for a medium sized group. Their menu has a southern flair while remaining light and high end in its presentation. Not only that but it totes a lot of noteworthy appetizers and sides that are enticing for any vegetarian that may be tucked inside your group. My husband and I had a reservation that we were late to, but luckily they still seated us quickly. They brought water pretty soon after, and then we ordered drinks. I got the weekend at Bernie's, which was good, and my husband got a whiskey flight he liked. We then ordered the cracklin' biscuits as an appetizer. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and my husband ordered the chicken sandwich with fries. It took forever to get our appetizer. Groups that came after us were getting food before us. The biscuits were really good but quite small. Then we waited probably 30 minutes for our main courses to come. The shrimp and grits were fine, but I didn't love the sauce. My husband liked his sandwich and fries. The food was alright and drinks were good, but the service was so slow and not great. We were there for almost 2 hours, which is ridiculous for 2 people. I came to Whiskey Kitchen for a drink and left questioning every other lamb burger I've ever trusted. This lamb burger didn't just set the bar--it picked it up, threw it across downtown Raleigh, and said "good luck." Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and stacked like it knew it was that guy. One bite in and I was mad at myself for all the years I spent eating inferior lamb burgers like a fool. I have to start by saying I don't love biscuits. I'm a southern girl and believe most restaurants can't replicate a good biscuit.... BUT these biscuits OMG ... I wanted to order a few plates... do yourself a favor and get them!! Second the BLT was ok. I think the bread was too toasted and dry, which made for a very messy sandwich. can't even lie about this, we wanted to check another place out and they had a three hour wait so we opted to go for a walk and see what we find we stumbled across whiskey kitchen and man was i pleasantly surprised to start off, the place has ample seating both inside and out we didn't have to wait to be seated or wait too long for food to arrive although they were busy the food was pretty solid.....we had a little bit of everything from appetizers to salads and entrees the biscuits with cracklins were by far the star of the evening....the biscuits were fluffy and buttery with a slight sweetness to them which was offset by the saltiness of the cracklin dust and the amazing smokiness of the compound butter it was served with they also make their own cheeses and cure their own meats so the chef's special charcuterie board was also a star! now to the low points our server was pretty terrible she didn't really seem interested in working and wasn't paying attention to the details like when we needed refills or the timing of the food also, we ordered a fried chicken sandwich and to say it was dry was an understatement all that being said, i'd definitely come back to this place to have the charcuterie board, salads and some drinks read more

This place didn't get a perfect score because the drinks & service ruined it for me. Stopped here last night after dinner at Death & Taxes. Wanted a cocktail to finish our "Date Night" (yes, after 27+ years we still do Date Night!) and were pleased to find a good couple bar seats. I went with a Heaven's Door on a large rock and The Mrs chose a Classic Manhattan. The coup do grace was a slice of their Shoo-Fly Pie! More Pecan Pie than plain Shoo Fly but when drizzled with caramel it was Astounding! I always compare Shoo Fly and Pecan Pies with those my Grandma's made. This place is not friendly at all. The service was not up to what I expected. I came with my friends from out of town and I had a box of food leftover that I wasn't going to just throw away. My friends were hungry so we stopped here for them to eat and they never mentioned that I cannot have the outside food leftover. I would've understood and not eat if that was the case. I was in town for work in Raleigh and grabbed a lunch at the Whisky Kitchen. This place so so cute. I loved the tile, menus, and lighting fixtures. I sat at the bar- as usual and did some work on my laptop, the service was awesome. I had a Passionfruit Whiskey drink that was super tasty and I got the Farm Cheese. I loved it. It had a perfectly poached egg on it with some yummy oil and seasoning.. Then I got the chicken Sandwich with a salad. The salad was kinda boring but fun. The lettuce did taste really fresh. But the Chicken sandwich really stole the show. It was crispy and the bun and fixings were on point. I'd come back here again for sure.. Dinner, Brunch, a drink, you name it. We visited Whiskey Kitchen after dinner for a night cap while visiting the area and were excited to see if it was worth coming back the next day for lunch. We sat and the bar and unfortunately didn't immediately notice the horrible fruit fly investigation they have. I got a cocktail and my fiancé ordered one of the whiskey flights. The drinks and service were amazing and the food on the menu even looked pretty good too, but the bombardment of the flies were so distracting. We even noticed other patrons at the bar covering their drinks with coasters to prevent them from flying into their drinks. We would have stayed for a second round but couldn't bare to sit there any longer with all the flies. Again, the bar staff was wonderful but you could tell they were trying their best not to bring any additional attention to the issue. Such a disappointment as the place is very cute and has wonderful ambiance with a large indoor and outdoor spaces. But they definitely need to get a handle on the fruit fly issue. 5/10 recommend. read more

Nice spot for lunch or dinner. I've been to Whiskey Kitchen twice now and haven't been disappointed. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich both times I dined in and it hits the spot. When I went to dinner with my husband and brother-in-law they both got the Pork Chop. My brother-in-law said the pork chop is one of the best he's ever had, which is saying a lot given he grew up in the South. Outdoor patio and indoor dining have plenty of space between tables. Taking off one star because the women's bathroom doesn't have a changing table. Whiskey Kitchen may not be the #1 spot to bring a baby, but it was really uncomfortable having to change my daughter on the floor in the bathroom (thankfully I carry a portable changing pad in the diaper bag). read more

We returned Sunday after brunch for drinks at the bar. Both bartenders were appropriately attentive and drinks were consistent with drink experience on 9/26. I've eaten at Whiskey Kitchen many times. The food has always been great. I enjoy the whiskey flights so I can taste something different from my home bar whiskeys. Whiskey kitchen is a cool set up. We went there for my birthday dinner and started with the Brussel sprouts which were amazing 10/10 must order (not pictured). I got the Cornish Hen which was delicious but the white meat portion was a little dry. My boyfriend got the NC pork chop and loved it (it's more expensive but a huge portion). My mom and dad got the BBQ platter and the smoked mozz salad and said they were good but not earth shattering - the chicken on the salad was a little dry. They have a good selection of drinks so you don't have to be a whiskey lover to try this place out. The wait staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They brought out a lemoncello cake on the house for the birthday celebration and it was warm & delicious. I would recommend making a reservation for this place especially on the weekends. read more

Ate here once with my wife and son. We had our stroller last time and ate outside over the summer. Food was okay but we came back recently because we were in the area and wanted a quick bite to eat. Our son is now older and we needed a high chair. Was told they did not have high chairs because the owner does not want kids at the establishment. Coming from San Diego, never been to any establishment that purposely did not have high chairs or booster seats to sway away couples with children.
