Not what we thought this place would be. But we should of kind of expected it not to be great since it was the only outdoor patio in the area that only had another table seated. The appetizer was diced up velveeta cheese with some pico on top. The chips were very hard and greasy. The burrito was an absolute miss, it was stuffed with rice, beans and steak and was served with more rice and beans on the side, absolutely no flavor to it whatsoever. Same with the tacos, no flavor at all. I have never had taco shells the texture this place served. Oily and kind of crunchy, and they were actual corn tortillas. The vegan portobello taco wasn't even salted, I asked for a small side of salsa verde and they brought it to me piping hot and also charged me $2 for it. The only reason they got 2 stars was for the super friendly service. The staff was very nice, always smiling. But no I would never return here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone. read more

Once a year I bother to write a review. Today is the day for 2024. We waited 30 minutes for 2 tacos and a burrito that never showed up. Waitress did not bother to apologize or check on us. I asked if they had started to make the food after 25 minutes and she went to kitchen and instead came back with someone else's order ( who showed up 10 minutes after us). With a new owner, updated menu, and amazing overhaul of the bad - WTF stays at five stars. The new owner changed up the recipes for the rice and beans sides- oh my- I'm not one that ever raves about rice/beans - but the WTF versions are off the hook tasty! Almost addictive. The taco selections are great. Using Chorizo from Honey Bee in Detroit gives a great spin. Their queso may very well contain meth due to its addictive nature. Yes, we like the food here. The stuffed peppers are amaze balls!!! The bar is WTF's secret sauce. The can do all the things a good Mexican flaired restaurant does- but it is the bourbon selection that differentiates them. Selections from solid to medium to high end bourbons fill their shelves.... a great menu of fun whiskey cocktails to try. They do not price gouge you on straight pours of the higher end picks. I've seen pours of Blanton's and Jefferson's go for 3x what WTF charges. During COVID they offer a family special of 12 tacos for $44 including chips, queso/quac, rice, and beans. We were invited here for dinner by a friend who's been wanting to try this place, I had been craving Mexican all week so it was the perfect choice. The menu is pretty extensive and allows you to customize your food. You're given an order sheet where you can circle the items you want and then customize what exactly you want on your tacos. The tacos are Ala Cart which was nice because we were able to try the different taco options. My favorite was the bang bang shrimp, super flavorful with a little heat. For the table we ordered chips and a trio of dips, all the dips were pretty good except the salsa which was a little bland in my opinion. Drink menu was also extensive. We tried the guava margarita and jalapeño margarita. Both were amazing. If you like something spicy but with a little bit of sweetness definitely go for the guava margarita. Service was great and the atmosphere was pretty chill for a weeknight. All in all it was a great spot to satisfy my Mexican craving. read more

WTF has a great and fun location in downtown Clawson. The food is always delicious and with all the variety on the menu, there's something for everyone. Took my family to this restaurant, took them 20 minutes to even recognize us. We have 2 kids and they didn't even give us a booster, we had to find one. We ordered our food, nachos and a cheese quesadilla..... nothing hard, should take 5 min MAX! I ordered a frozen marg, their machine isn't working..... ONE HOUR goes by, 2 kids starving, and the staff just is sitting and doing nothing, no one checks on us, let's us know, etc.... Had high hopes, but they were dashed quickly. If you are looking for cold tacos with no flavor and old taco shells, this is your place. Not one of our taco's was even warm. Not even the one they had to remake because they messed up the order. The proteins were not seasoned and the sauce had no flavor and was to oily. We had to pay at the bar and had to wait there for the bartender to reappear. When I went to the restroom saw staff members standing in a group near the kitchen. It was our first time here and based on this experience we would not recommend this place or go back. The beef tacos were incredibly greasy. We ordered them on a hard shell and the bottom of the shell was breaking apart because it was all soggy from the grease. The French fries were soggy and greasy. They even had that greasy smell to them. The chips and salsa were ok. The chips were very thick and hard which I didn't care for. The rice wasn't too bad. The quesadillas were ok. Bartender (who I think is the daughter) was having a bad day. Was very evident and she made sure to let me know it. She was not polite. Ordered a burrito and their premium margarita. Chips and salsa came first. Chips were pretty stale and salsa was extremely garlicky. Margarita was made with housemaid mix; I think it was spoiled. Tasted really funky, but not funky enough to send back. Burrito arrived. Served with side of rice and beans. Burrito is filled with very runny and bland refried beans. It is pretty huge and with lots of shredded chicken. Not bad, but for the excessive amount of refried beans oozing out every time I try to cut a piece. Ordered a handmade margarita. Bartender quipped, "everybody else likes our house margaritas". She put in the tequila, Grand Marnier, and then filled the rest of the large glass with lime juice. It was absolutely a undrinkable. Then the bartender got snippy with me, saying that she liked it. Wow. I know this place is family owned and I really tend to favor those restaurants. Decent lot sized tacos and salad. Good flavor and options for a date night or family event. Only issue is that it took 45 min to get our meal and by the time my frozen drink came out it was 1/3 melted. My only honest critique is that the salsa bowls are too small for the complimentary chips and salsa. How can you go wrong with a family owned restaurant? The quality of the food says it all at Montage Grill! Food is incredible and everything you eat, you can taste the food is homemade. No shortcuts here. Excellent menu with a variety of Mediterranean options...including REAL gyro meat! Montage offers a full bar with a great drink menu, personally selected and organized by one of the owners. One of their best selling dishes is the feta artichoke dip appetizer. You can go anywhere to get spinach artichoke dip, but at Montage it's gotta be different! This is one of the best appetizers you can get anywhere. I got one of the flatbreads and it was DELICIOUS. The crust is homemade and the sauce is sweet. Didn't get to dessert during my visit but it's on my to-do list! Make it a point to come here in the spring. While every restaurant right now is understaffed, the waitstaff did their best to meet all the needs of the customers on a busy Saturday night - hats off to them! The tacos were decent. Some definitely better than others. The Bang Bang shrimp taco and blackened fish taco were our parties favorites. The chorizo was spicy which was good but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I did appreciate how large the guacamole side was. We ordered chips and guacamole and it was a large portion for two people! Usually, places charge $8 and it's a tiny side. Not here, the size is worth the $$! I will say, their mixed whiskey drinks were so good! I placed an online order for delivery for a specific time. They delivered it an hour early. Ok, not worth a bad review.. Then I had a taste of the chips and salsa. Worst chips I ever had. They were hard and severely over salted. The sauce was basically ketchup with spice. The rest of the meal was over salty. My wife had the shrimp tacos. She said the tomatoes that were on it appeared to come right from the can. Hers was also overly salty. In closing, this place might be a good place to go drinking and then order bar food. One of the big issues I had with Montague Grill was that their service was awful and the food was lackluster compared to other restaurants within a 5-10 mile radius. While I think rebranding was a good move on their part, unfortunately the food and service issues persist. On this particular visit, we waited over an hour for just two street tacos and a chimichanga. The server apologized once, and that was about it. Extremely disappointed. As far as the food goes, if you don't already know, these owners also own Mojave Cantina across the street; so if you're not a fan of Mojave, WTF probably won't satisfy your hunger. The chips, salsa, rice, and beans are EXACTLY like Mojave. The fish taco had a different sauce that was spicier. The potato in the potato and avocado taco was so salty it was inedible. Picked up a carry out here. Had 4 different kinds of tacos..all were very good! My wife had the chicken burrito and loved it! Chips were fresh and crisp and the salsa was top notch. I admit, I've only been here twice but both times, not very impressed. First the good... Excellent service! Very friendly and outgoing. The atmosphere is a lot of fun and it always seems busy. Those are good signs for a good time. Now the not so good... The salsa on the table is pretty bland. I think it's a chipotle-based salsa, and that smoky flavor is just not everyone's taste. The chips are OK. The tacos that I sampled both times I was there are incredibly bland. The ground beef doesn't seem to have any seasoning, the avocado taco had nothing complementing its flavor, and the chicken was pretty dry. While they have a variety, and I've only tried a few, I'm sure there's some thing that definitely kicks it up a bit when it comes to taste. Maybe both times I was there, I just ordered the wrong things. There are plenty of places in the area to get authentic, and tasty, tacos. This isn't one of those places. If taste a second to atmosphere and service, then this is a must try because those two things are top notch. Maybe third times the charm but I won't be rushing back to find out. read more
