This poor place was clearly way short-staffed (I think all the cruise ship people were departing that day). The lady (who I assume was the manager) was busting her butt! Shout out to her for not throwing in the towel. The service was incredibly slow, but they were inundated with too many customers. If you are in a rush, definitely picks somewhere else. The food was fine - at least they had a veggie burger on the menu! My husband and I had a pretty early flight back home and weren't quite ready for our vacation to end yet, so we stopped by Whisky River for a couple of pre-flight cocktails. The bartender wasn't friendly, per se, but he was pretty fast and efficient. He was working alone, taking breakfast orders and mixing drinks, and his performance was admirable, but I was not a fan of some of his time-saving tactics. I watched him stir drinks with the nozzle of the soda dispenser. You know, the "spray gun" used to top your drink off with soda water or Sprite? He dipped that into the drink and swirled, rather than just grabbing a stir stick or using a new, clean straw to do so. I ordered the Goin' Down South, which is made with Bulleit Bourbon, honey and lemonade. It was good. Tasted so nice that I ordered it twice! After that, I was nice and relaxed for the flight. We had eaten that morning before we left the hotel, but several of the menu offerings were tempting. Whisky Wings, Quesadillas, Burgers...everything sounded really good. This was a nice stop-over spot for us to relax after the chaos of check-in and TSA. We sat, enjoyed our drinks and some television, had time to visit the nearby restrooms and refill our water bottles at the "filling station". It was near our gate. Great location! read more

We had a delayed SW fight at FLL and decided to get something for dinner. Whisky River sounded appealing so we stopped in. We were seated right away and quickly approached by 2 different servers. They had an extensive beer and cocktail menu, (especially whiskies.). I ordered a Blue Moon and my husband just had a Diet Coke. The menu was full of appetizers, sandwiches, and burgers. We decided to share the Texas Tequila Bacon Cheese Burger with fries. It was $17.89, (a little pricey but that's to be expected at an airport.). It was actually quite big and very tasty. Both of us really liked it; plus the fries were good too. The service was fast and we were in and out in about 40 minutes. (We are fast eaters.). As airport restaurants and bars go; this place is definitely better than most. Good food and good service is always a plus when starting a vacation....,I would definitely recommend Whisky River if you have some time to kill in Terminal 1 of FLL. read more

The food was your standard burger and didn't come with any sauce. Without sauce I would say the bread was dry but once I added ketchup it helped the burger. Who wants to wait on tables on Saturday, the 4th of July? Probably no one, but we were very lucky. Our waiter, or perhaps the restaurant manager, I'm not sure, was Angel (Server 434685). There were seven of us, and two of them were very tired children. The restaurant was very busy with a huge amount of people but Angel waited on us and treated as so well that I had to just write and tell him thank you. We ordered two salads for lunch here at Whiskey River. We did receive our iced teas. After 30 minutes our waitress came to tell us our salads would be "right there". At the 45 minute Marley there were still no salads. Another waitress said that "they had had a busy night the night before and had not been able to prep salads." Terrible overall experience! It took over an hour to get our food. When we arrived, (seated at the bar) my husband ordered a beer, I just wanted water, it was 10:45 a.m. The bar tender (Brian) told me I had to order an alcoholic drink because I was seated at the bar. I told him I did not want alcohol. But he proceeded to tell me I had to if I was going to sit at the bar. I have never heard of such a thing. So, I ordered a canned surfside pineapple drink that he said did not have much alcohol. When I looked over to the side, I saw another couple, he had a drink, she had water. Then looking at the menu, I saw they had listed Mocktails which do not have any alcohol. When I mentioned this to Brian after the fact he responded, yes but they are very sweet. So he lied to me telling me I had to order an alcoholic drink. When we finally got our food (2 burgers, one with fries the other with coleslaw) Burgers were so dry I almost choked. Cole slaw had a very strange taste so I did not eat it. French fries were at least edible. Finally, for those two burgers, my required alcoholic drink and my husbands 2 beers, the bill was almost $100. including the 20% tip my husband added. Of course I had not looked at the bill until after we had left as we were running late to catch our plane. Come to find out they had already added the tip to the bill, making the total tip 43%. Quick, easy, delicious. Only had 30 minutes before I had to hop on my flight back home and Whiskey River was right by our gate so we gave it a try. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Great service! Plenty of open seating. Limited menu but great choices. We chose the teriyaki salmon with rice and broccoli and it was all very good. It was very easy to order through the website and the food came out really really fast. I couldn't believe we had an entire hot meal in such a short amount of time. I noticed the "no outside food" sign on table but didn't think it mattered since the airport doesn't have a food court with tables and chairs. (They were also closed) Plus another airport employee had already told other people that no one could eat at the bar and only at the tables. One of their (im assuming managers) came out and told me and other people that we could not sit at the tables.
