Oh gosh this place is absolutely great!!!!!! The staff is super helpful when you're trying to narrow down your options to pick out a good tasting taco that you're craving. We each got a different type of taco so we could share the diversity between the menu. I personally like the Korean taco the most. There's a mouthful of flavors within literally just one bite. We also have to talk about their queso. Good gravy that queso was absolutely divine and the they give you PLENTY of it for what you pay for. The chips are nice and crunchy as well! The margaritas they do not skimp out on as far as alcohol goes. Heck I don't drink too much but after just one margarita I was feeling lightly buzzed! You have to try out this place. The place is decorated pretty nice too. They have brightly painted mural looking artwork all around the place. There are maybe 6-8 booths inside along with patio seating outside. We visited this highly requested spot while in Asheville to see what all the hype was about. Unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. I ordered two tacos, the Bangkok shrimp & the BBQ carnitas. These tacos failed to impress and had the strangest flavors. I should have been a bit more skeptical when I saw there were not any traditional taco options on the menu. I think the best part of our meal were the chips and salsa. (However, I'm a firm believer taco shops should offer free chips and salsa like restaurants offer bread but I digress). The location on the river was nice and I believe I remember seeing them offer cornhole. The location is a great spot to get some fresh air and bring a big group. Huge fan of White Duck taco. I've been trying to make a stop anytime in passing near Asheville. While I know they have 3 locations in Asheville, I seem to only go to the Riverside one. Which has awesome outdoor seating. Their tacos are serious fire, some of the best and most unique ones you can find. My last stop there, I got 3 tacos in all, the fish, the steak and cheese, and crispy pork belly. While they are all super amazing in their own right. I always eat the pork belly one last, because this taco rates a 20 out of 10. The pickled watermelon is surprisingly good (I actually don't like watermelon) and the sauce pairs perfectly with the pork belly. You need this taco in your belly. I've not had a taco there I didn't love, so go find your favorite. I'm absolutely a huge fan of this place. Trying to plan my next Asheville trip just for tacos. read more

Went with several buddies after hiking. They had shrimp tacos and enjoyed them as well. Fountain drinks are self service here. It was fine fall day and sitting outside near the river was perfect. Small area for indoor dining too. You order inside from big menu on the wall behind the counter. Long line but it moved swiftly. Friendly service at the counter. Got a full spread. Between all of us we had the gyro taco, fish taco, steak taco, falafel taco, and bbq carnitas tacos, salsa trio, and queso. We would get all of those things again besides the salsa (not because it was bad, but just because it was our least favorite) Highly recommend the gyro taco and the falafel tacos! It's a walk up and order type deal, then they give you a number to put on your table. The food comes up pretty quickly. We ordered 2 tacos a piece and tried each others. While in town for business, several of us stopped in for a working lunch... This place gets crazy busy at lunch time!! We were fortunate to not have to wait very long and we sat outside, as the weather was beautiful. They definitely have ample seating, but they only have 2 restrooms, both outside. The menu is interesting... it's a taco joint, but only a few items were Mexican in nature, most everything was a different ethnicity put into a taco shell. I got their Chicken Tikka taco which had nice flavor and their Japanese shrimp taco which was also flavored quite nicely.... This place is not too far from the 40, opens at 11:30, and gets packed. The tacos are unique, with funky flavors, and are very delicious. The staff is quick with the food, so even though the line is long, the food doesn't take long to arrive. I tried four tacos - fish, shrimp, Korean, and carnitas - and they were all great. Next time, I'd like to try four more. The place has a funky atmosphere, and the music is excellent. When we knew we were going to be spending a few days in Asheville, one source for food suggestions for us happened to be the "Not The New York Times Cooking Community" on Facebook. A mom was coincidentally bringing her son to Asheville a few days ago for a little getaway and asked for recommendations. This evening, we we had our opportunity to come here after spending a day walking around the River Arts District and all three of us loved it! The friendly gal at the counter said the Bangkok Shrimp tacos were the overall favorite here so both my daughter and I chose that one. My daughter also had the Banh Mi Tofu (her favorite) while I had the Fish, and my husband had a Chicken Tikka and the Black Bean. The tacos were $4.85 each. For sides, we shared a Chips and Queso and the Green Chili Black Beans. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and delicious! It's clearly a local favorite because it got very crowded right after we arrived! If we ever come through Asheville in the future, we would definitely make a stop here again! read more

This is a casual place. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Love the outdoor seating. The river is right next to us, made me feel like we're camping. Very relaxing and great place to spend time with friends and family. Ordered 6 different tacos ($4.85 each). We wanted to try pork belly tacos but it's sold out. You probably need to get there early lunch time ~12PM to get them. We got there at 3PM. What a delicious little taco spot!! They had such fun mixes like tikka masala and lamb gyro tacos. I don't think they have a taco that is bad. I got the steak and cheese taco, and it definitely goes beyond your normal steak and cheese. Definitely one of the best I've ever had. The black bean taco was good, but nothing to write home about. I tried the coconut lime margarita, and wow! It was so flavorful, while simultaneously being refreshing and overall delicious. I could have one of those every day and be happy. There was also a frozen cheerwine I wish I could have tried. The line - when we arrived, the line was out the door and into the parking lot. Granted, it was Friday around lunchtime. That being said the line moves very quickly. I saw people get their food 5 to 10 minutes after ordering. Our food came out about five minutes after ordering. This spot is by the river, and I can see it being really beautiful in the summertime, when I visited, the trees were still dead, so it was a little dreary. Parking - although there is plenty of parking, it is in a gravel lot that has lots of potholes, the parking lot is at a slant as well, so if you have a lower car, be wary entering an exiting. Heard so much about White Duck so decided to give it a shot. They had an interesting selection of tacos ranging from Indian-inspired ones to Korean ones etc. so the menu was very fun. I did three tacos: 1. Chicken tikka masala taco: good flavor, kinda spicy. Tasted like a legit chicken tikka masala. Found it kinda odd that they literally stuck an entire slab of Chicken breast inside so not the best eating experience but the flavor was good. 2. Duck mole: I liked this one. Of all the locations in Asheville, we like this one the best. They have the beer bus outside, parking in general (looking at you, downtown), and the outdoor seating is great with kids and dogs. It also overlooks the river, so it's just nice to sit out there and hang out with your drinks and food. Always felt the service at this one was quicker and the food just tastes a bit better. Pushing my luck a bit, I didn't even look at the menu until I was called to order, and just let those same Taco Gods take control. We ended up getting: -Chips & salsa trio + house margarita -Tikka Masala Taco which was my favorite. It was topped with crispy chickpeas, had a great, flavorful curry sauce and lots of chicken -The BLT taco which was pretty good but not 100% what I was after. It had a big fried chicken strip in the middle, mayo, lettuce and tomato -A fish taco that, admittedly, I was too full to tackle. I didn't realize these bad boys are HUGE Beyond that, I loved the outdoor atmosphere. Folks were enjoying craft beers, dogs were lounging on the patio being treated as the family members that they are, and the river went by gently behind the restaurant. The icing on the cake was the hint of a chill in the air of mid-September, and the friendly crew running things. I first experienced the White Duck years ago when they were still open near the University of SC campus in Columbia, SC. I loved the concept of eating fun, uniquely flavored tacos that you can order a la carte. My husband and I were recently in Asheville for the weekend, and we decided to visit White Duck on a cloudy, Friday late afternoon. This particular location is so neat! They have an outdoor picnic area with some sort of bar that looks like a yellow school bus. The actual restaurant sits inside what looks like a large metal airplane hanger, with stained glass windows. Very cool! After standing in line for a bit we ordered at the counter. The staff was very nice and helpful. We ordered chips and queso to share and several tacos. We were able to find a table without issue. Once try server brought our food, I was excited to dig in. I ordered 3 tacos: Crispy Pork Belly, General Tso Chicken, and Bangkok Shrimp. My favorite of the three was the Crispy Pork belly. It was seasoned well and had a nice chunk of pork belly. The Shrimp was a little salty for my liking. The General Tso was good, just not amazing. Next time, I will try more simply style tacos, as I remember those tasting the best. Chicken isn't very flavorful though but it's still worth getting. Bangkok shrimp - Yes. Pretty tasty and has a small kick especially if you add the spicy sauce you can order on the side. Thai peanut chicken - Good, for sure, but definitely too much onion and not enough pineapple Chicken Tikka Masala - WOOOOOOOOOOOOOW! This is why you come here! This could make cry it's so good lol. Try the crunchy ball on its own too. 10 stars! One of the best tacos I've EVER had! Zorba - light and refreshing! Especially given that their shrimp taco is the same price as their black bean and cheese taco... It was moist and flavorful. It went nicely with the masala taco. I was a little surprised that the masala chickpeas were hard and crunchy, not stewed. Not a bad thing necessarily, but unexpected. - the Bahn Me Taco was great in theory, but poorly executed. Its was a large dense tofu rectangle as the base. We first saw this place on a travel video for Ashville and definitely wanted to come since it reminded us of Not Not Tacos in San Diego where we loved the tacos produced there. It was a bit of a challenge on the GPS...maybe it was me. It had rained just before and so the parking lot was a bit muddy, but getting into the building was fine. There is a lot of seating outside and in, but due to the weather, all of the people were inside. I got three different tacos all of which were excellent...much bigger than the place in San Diego, one thing is that it only had one tortilla for each taco and due to all the fillings it would have been great to have two tortillas to split it out. They have a couple of locations and the one we went to was not the downtown location. I will go there again when back to Ashville. read more

Great choice for dinner. It met everyone's desire for various cuisine. One person wanted Indian, another person wanted Thai and I wantd tacos. Evetyone was able to get what they wanted here due to the variety of tacos . They have Greek, Thai, Indian, Bbq and much more . The tacos are so filling, I struggled to finish the tacos.
