I really want to like this place, but they have a consistency problem when it comes to ordering the exact same thing each time. When I ask for extra chicken, I am charged, but have yet to get the extra chicken. Also, tried the sticky rice today and it was inedible. Hard as a rock and was unable to eat any of it. In addition, I always order a heat level of 5-6. The last three orders to go I got were a 0 and a 0. As much as I enjoy the food, there have been too many issues for me to want to return. Not quite sure what is happening in the kitchen for them to get the orders wrong almost every time. I have never said anything to them, but will look for an alternative for my Thai moving forward. We were so disappointed when Amarin Thai closed in the midst of the pandemic. We decided to try White Elephant, which now occupies the space. I was pleasantly surprised. The outdoor patio has a fresher cleaner look, and the staff were friendly and engaging. I enjoyed the Red Curry with chicken, which was a large portion, the spice level was a 5, which is milder than Amarin's level 5. Entres arrived piping hot as well, very important. We are all missing at least one of our favorite spots in the wake of Covid. White Elephant is a major contender in my search to replace Amarin. read more

Super cute, small restaurant! Our server was friendly and overall provided great service. The food was AMAZING. My friend and I got the pad see ew shrimp, spicy green beans, and, papaya salad. The spice level on these dishes went up to 10 stars and I got 7 stars on the pad see ew. I normally get the most spicy thinking they only went up to 5 stars but the server was explaining that 10 stars was pretty spicy and that we can always add more spice if 7 wasn't enough but it was perfect!! Mouthwatering spicy yet flavorful. We went on a Saturday afternoon and literally no one was there. Definitely a place I'd recommend for some good Thai/Lao food; They deserve more business!! read more

Parking is a challenge. Indoor and outdoor seating. Casual, comfortable, and not crowded at 4pm on a Sunday. Service ok. Music a bit loud. good for mood setting, but not the best. Mango chicken with white rice. cold thai tea with coconut milk, coconut ice cream recommended by the server all ok. If you like Birdseye Kitchen in Encinitas you are going to love this new spot. It's a small menu to start but everything looks delicious. I am gluten and peanut free and this wasn't an issue. Of course if you are celiac please check what precautions they take. I had the Pad Thai and found it to be super fresh and the vegetables still had an amazing crunch. I found the portions to be generous and I couldn't find finish it. My husband had soup which he found tasty and delicious. I also ordered a fresh spring roll and had a couple of bites and found it to be bursting with freshness and the beautiful taste of mint. I put that in the fridge until tomorrow so I could enjoy it when I am leas full. I did take out and wished I didn't. The dining room is small and inviting. I wanted so much to dine at the beautiful wood table. The outside seating looked inviting too. If I had any critique it would be the on line ordering system doesn't allow for a tip larger than 15 percent and in this day and age I wanted to tip more. I went on their soft opening and was not disappointed. I got the Tom Kha Soup and the Massaman Beef Curry. The soup was my favorite dish out of the two. Though the Massaman Beef Curry was also quite good, the boldness of the curry wasn't like other Thai restaurants I am use too. I also thought the spice level was off. I got a 7 for the soup, and a 5 for the curry and they both tasted delicious, but equally as spice (mild at best). My friend got the Panang Curry (spicy 7) and thought the same thing. We also shared the Cha' Gio' (Crispy Roll), which was also good. If you enjoy Thai cuisine, I suggest the visit. I will be returning. read more

Overall rating on the food we had. It's nice to have a Thai restaurant nearby but competition isn't too far away. Overall it was good but what I didn't understand was the salt and pepper shrimp. Shrimp had shell and were deep fried with shell and if one was to peel the shell, you're pretty much peeling the seasoned part. Shrimp with SHELL AND HEAD ATTACHED and NOT DEVEINED: no bueno. Are you suppose to eat the whole shrimp with the shell? I wonder. Maybe I'm eating it wrong? Maybe someone can tell me. I had one piece and I couldn't have another. The mango chicken was ok. I like the mango pieces. I always give a place another try. Next time I'll try the yellow curry. I hope I'll get wowed. read more

I'm from Seattle and have had a hard time finding good Pho in San Diego - this was by far the best I've ever had here. The Potstickers were great. Mango rice was delicious. Great Thai food. Food has great flavor. I always have good service here. Crying Tiger is one of my favorite dishes. I always ask for steam to be cooked medium rare but it comes out more medium well but the cut is good and it's still tender enough to eat. The chili lime sauce on the side is very delicious. But it was a total failure for the chicken house fried rice: just rice, seasoning not the best, just 2-3 dices of tomato, "trace" of eggs - doubt it was 1-2 whole eggs used, and chicken consistency wasn't the best, kind of rubbery, big no no for the fried rice. I know taste is subjective, but as a constructive review, I would suggest you guys to revisit the way fried rice is been made in order to catch up with some of your concurrent version ones. read more

Outstanding food and great ambiance. An eye opening jewel located in the heart of Hillcrest. They've been in the restaurant business for a long time prior opening a restaurant at this location. Go try it and just enjoy the delicious dishes and the moment with a variety of wines for your tastebuds. If there's something that you are dissatisfied with, just ask them about what could be better and they will be more than accommodating. No restaurants will be perfect but as long as you walk out of there with a full stomach and a delectable palate, it's worth going back to.
