5/29 Coming back to The Smoke House brought about a totally different experience. I've been here 2 other times and just decided to give an update. First things first! I felt safe walking inside of The Smokehouse today, no unofficial doorman. The second thing, this used to be a few seats for dine-in, but I can understand why it's strictly in and out. They are very busy, I would say, too busy to deal with cleaning the dining area. That is a good thing for business. I didn't see what I wanted and the young lady, ( I appreciate her so much) was kind and sweet. She informed me of the type fish they serve. I got Whiting, Mac n Cheese, and Greens. The Food* The greens were very tasty, properly seasoned and proportioned well. The Mac n Cheese is always compared to moms. Though the Mac n Cheese didn't hold together like I'm used to eating it. I did find it quite D'licious. What ever they are doing? They, are doing! I had the fried whiting, it had a bit of spicy kick. Very tasty, moist, not over fried or dry. The cornbread was silky smooth and held together on its own. I've never had cornbread that was like butter yet held together and didn't break apart, even when you bite it. I got three pieces, of course for an extra cost and it was so worth the purchase. To sum it up, this is the exact kind of meal, taste included, mind you, that I'm used to eating down south. The smoke house has duplicated a fine Southern dish. Just thinking, if they decided to offer a full sit down experience, like severs, a hosts or hostess to greet diners, table service, what a wonderful world this would be. We are still big fans of the Smokehouse. Food is always fresh and tasty. We usually deliver because they are quick and easy. When in the restaurant, sometimes it's not as fast due to how busy it can get at certain times of the day. The space is good enough to hold many persons, but when it's busy it's busy. Soul food done right and with proper courtesy too. Props to the ladies holding down the fort, I was served well. To start off, this was a detour lunch trip. I didn't intend to come here but the restaurant I was originally gonna go to was closed (on a Wednesday of all days) so I shifted over to this place because I came all the way out here, I'm gonna review something. Inside of the place is very roomy and certainly clean. I do have to dock off one star because it's a take out only spot and I would've preferred to stay and eat in, especially with the weather getting more chilly but I digress. The young woman, Bianca tended to me as soon as I came in and I made my order. A large Curry Chicken w/ Mac n Cheese and yams. It was a pretty sizeable portion and was priced fairly at $16 and you certainly get your money's worth. After receiving my order which came with a free piece of Cornbread, I had to deal with the dilemma of, where was I gonna eat this? Eventually I settled on eating my lunch by the park nearby my Grandparents old residence in the rather windy elements. Despite that, the food definitely came in clutch. The Curry chicken definitely had a spice that kept me warm while the Mac n Cheese and yams were delicious and filling. I wonder how amazing it would've been if I were to eat it hot and ready but it was still good nonetheless. My faith in soul food has been restored, at least a chunk of it. I haven't had a taste for it considering the two options Nearby my place is either mid or just awfully bad but I liked what I got from this spot. I've eaten here multiple times and always enjoyed the food. However on this particular day, the oxtail was tough and plaintain was not sweet. I also asked for gravy on the rice, which they did not put. And they usually give bread with the meal but this time they didn't. I also got a jerk chicken meal which was good. 12/22/2025 Just bought a large oxtail dinner for $20.69 and got home looking forward to enjoy the meal. I opened the container to find rice, vegetables and some mush covered with gray. There were three oxtail bones with no meat on them; apparently, overcooked and the meat fell off. The mush was salty and tasted like nothing I ever had. The receipt said the server was "Bianca." I don't mind paying the price but for Heavens sake, make it worthwhile, make it something to lick your finger for and respect the Customer's rights to satisfaction. I called back the restaurant after my discovery and they had me on hold for more than fifteen minutes waiting for a Manager. The manager Chris came on and he did apologize but I am still not satisfied. This is terrible service and a robbery of people's money. read more

I had an opportunity to order food from The Smokehouse twice this week. I had a fried chicken meal that was okay on the first day and a fish sandwich the second day. Everything was just okay to me, and I was disappointed. A few years ago I had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant and it was surprisingly and excitingly delicious. I've tried the Bar-B'-Fried Chicken meal, the large oxtail meal, the Jerk Chicken and Curried Chicken meal, the Jerk Chicken Macaroni Salad, the Baked Mac and Cheese, Collard Greens, the Dumplings, and the homemade Lemon-Ginger juice. The food was fine. The process of ordering and receiving your food is tragically broken. First of all, when you enter the store, there is no direction or no way of figuring out where to go to order your food. There were a crowd of people standing on one side of the counter and another crowd on the other side. This side were UberEats and Door Dash drivers. It turns out that is where you have to order. Ok, once you have ordered, you would think that you pay and then wait for your food. That is where the next crowd comes in. You have to wait on that side until they call your number and then pay for the food. This whole ordeal took around an hour. They need to fix the broken process. read more

I discovered The Smokehouse via UberEats. So, for the longest time I only knew what it looked like from mapping the address. The Uber orders always came quickly and were correct for the most part. I was finally able to visit the establishment itself. I went once in the afternoon and once well into the evening. Both times, the place was BUSY! Ordering is straight forward, order then pay when your food is ready. The woman at the counter was cordial and answered whichever question I had without issue. There is no dining room, so you've got to take your goods to go. But the prep area is visible and you can watch your food get put together. I often have one of their soups. Either chicken or red pea. They are hearty thick stews, full of provisions and meat. Otherwise it's stewed chicken or oxtail with rice and peas. I've tried their different wing options, which are all good. read more

I was thinking I would get 2 wings being that it said wings & not wing. What they did was took a whole wing and cut it in half and threw in an extra tip from another wing. Food can be really good or it can be a miss sometimes. When they have the BBQ pigtails, that is the thing I go for. Mac and cheese can be really good or sometimes it can taste a bit off. Fried fish and the corn bread has always been really good here. read more

1st and foremost, this business is not "BBB accredited", the nerve! The way things are in society today with $$ inflating and restaurants selling a small quantity of food and doubling the prices, the Smokehouse has the audacity to serve me today, 1/2 jerk pork that was hard around all the edges, and the meat has been sitting under the light for too long, how do I know this? I used to work in a restaurant/fast food place and nowadays the food is "fake" or "overpriced"! THE SMOKEHOUSE IS NOT AS GOOD AS BACK IN THE DAY, 20 YEARS AGO WHEN THE STAFF CARED AND WERE OLD SCHOOLED (baby boomers, gen X). The customer service sucks in 2025/2026 and the food is horrible they don't care if the food has not been sold for 1 week, smokehouse will sell it to anyone that will accept it! Throw the food out if you know it has been under the light sitting getting harder and harder. Religiously every Friday I would drive from bklyn to get jerk pork/chicken and baked Mac--that should show just how good the food WAS! Was in the area today and decided to stop by--BIG disappointment! Ordered pork chicken and Mac today and everything was blah! The Mac tastes sweet...yuck! They've cut the pork into such tiny pieces it's almost as if it's diced for a toddler. It also has a sweet taste to it. WTH What went wrong?! Did they change chefs? First time trying Jamaican food from Smokehouse, and it was okay. We got a large oxtail meal with a side of rice & peas, turkey collard greens - plenty of tender oxtails with good flavor. Rice & peas were normal. Turkey collard greens were pretty good. We also got an order of Jerk Pork Ribs - the jerk flavor is there, but the pork ribs were very dry. The jerk chicken has never seen an actual grill ever... but it was a bit tasty. The oxtails were not authentic, but were rather gourmet tasting ...like a red wine taste. They were tender and well seasoned. Mac n cheese was really creamy and tasty and it shocked me! The collard greens were delicious, the yams delicious, rice and peas, delicious! This place has horrible customer service. You call ahead to shorten the wait time and you wait 45 minutes still and when you ask about it they kiss their teeth and roll their eyes. If I could give this place a zero I would. I have been ordering soup with no meat with extra food lately. This is the fourth time that I've placed my order and received broth only. I called the restaurant to speak with a manager . She said I would need to bring the food back to receive a replacement or a refund. I explained to her that I was in Long Island and unfortunately could not get back there. She was very abrasive and would not budge. I told her that I don't think anyone would pay $13 for just broth only which she responded " people do". My frustration is paying money for something and not receiving what you paid for. I ordered cow foot soup from the restaurant and it had a dead house fly in it. When I called the restaurant to report the incident, I was left on hold for over ten minutes. Food was okay. We ordered a jerk chicken meal and oxtails. Pretty standard and hard to mess up. What was bad about this place was the service. Employees were very rude. They chastised us about asking for silverware and hot sauce. They messed up my order and told me it was my fault because I ordered 2 different things. The food is a solid four stars. However, The food tastes different every time you go there. Also, the ordering process is chaotic and unorganized. That makes the wait time longer. My absolute favorite place to go for Jerk! I drive 30 Minutes each way just for the jerk pork. Also, on the weekends they have STEW PEAS. Real stew peas with pig tail and everything. Be aware if you order from Uber eats as this establishment sends out in satisfactory food. They send out inedible food knowing if you complain about it it's handled through Uber and they loose no money. They sent me unsatisfactory food and one time missed an order it's entirety their rebuttal for these actions was to dispute it with Uber because knowingly they wouldn't loose any money. Considering social media has made a joke of the horrible service provided by Jamaican restaurants you would think that would make a difference. Unfortunately NO! Female staff is so rude, they're soo busy staring at me tryna be funny for whatever reason but still manage to get my order wrong and barely cooked. Staff members should spend less time cutting there eyes at female customers and more time providing decent service . I am polite and well spoken and I understand how busy restaurants can be so I always am very mindful when ordering. Paid for my meal !! But still there are 2 females staring and snickering over my food the next one throws 2 open containers of jerk sauce in my bag for whatever reason with an attitude. After all that extra nonsense my order was wrong and pork was soggy. I had to cook my jerk pork again when I got home. Me and my husband came back to correct the order they did not even offer any accommodations. Staff is weird & rude it's always the women for some reason.
