3.5/5 overall. Pros: I really appreciate the White Rice stall at Liberty Public Market, and all their locations are consistent with their options. It's conveniently located in front of tables to enjoy your food, and the stall decorations highlight and introduce Filipino food and culture. Cons: inconsistency. Online, the location says they're open at 10AM on weekends, but i've noticed on 3 different weekends they've opened at 11am instead. A lot of people order online for pickup, and we waited over 40 minutes for an in-person order of two bowls, due of the influx of online orders. The bowl we received had more of a burnt egg than fried, as pictured.

Love seeing Filipino food vendors! We were waiting for them to open up so once they did I stood there at the register. There was a guy and a girl working and neither of them even looked at me. They were definitely open already based on the time but didn't even bother to say anything at all. I waited an awkward amount of time and finally asked "are you open?" And he responded yes as if I was the one bothering them. So strange and really off-putting, kinda didn't even want to buy anything from them at that point but I knew my kids would really like the pandesal. I was hoping for sisig but didn't see any on the menu so just ended up getting the pandesal and lumpia shanghai for the kids. It kinda took a crazy amount of time just for those 2 things considering I was the first customer. I didn't even hear them call out my number or name and just happened to see it sitting on the counter. But they both came out fresh at least. The bread was really fluffy with a toasted exterior and I liked the whipped ube butter with it. The lumpia was nice and crispy but nothing super unique about the flavor or presentation. I'd round up to 3.5 for the pandesal but otherwise probably wouldn't go out of my way to return based on my first experience.

Visited the Liberty Public Market location and the service was friendly and fairly quick. We ordered the Lumpia Gulay and they didn't have enough, so they were kind enough to give us some Lumpia Shanghai free of charge. The Uber Pandesal was nice and I really liked the Ube butter spread on top. For my main I got the Lechon Kawaii which is pork belly over a bed of rice. The dipping sauce it came with added some flavor but I enjoyed the dish more without it. With the exception of one piece, most of the pork belly pieces were nicely crispy and moist. They were really nicely seasoned and very filling. The garlic rice was also a nice flavor boost to the overall dish.

Glad to find Filipino food within Liberty Station. Pros: -casual environment. You order at the cash register, pick up your order, and you can either dine inside or outdoors. -their lechon was nice and crispy -good size portions! Cons: -n/a

Moving to SD I was recommended a few spots, this was a common talk of the town. AMBIANCE: Parking: Liberty Station! There's parking and there's not parking. It really depends on the day, time, and if there are events but for the most part there's good street, meter, and plaza parking. Seating: It's very community space so find a standing table or eat outside and enjoy! Vibes: Liberty Station is a signature place to visit if you're in San Diego from the food, activities, or community! Whether you're in the mood to socialize, study, or dine, this is your spot. It's in a marketplace so you'll see a lot choices. The restaurant is relatively simple with your counters and screen-menu. There's some decor paying homage to Filipino culture, which feels welcoming and comforting as a Filipino. Great place for a grab and go FOOD: Sweet Pork Sausage Silog (Recommend) Delicious! Their longanisa (sweet pork sausage) was enjoyable - soft, lightly charred, mildly spiced and sweet. This is usually embraced for breakfast but appreciated all day long. The green onions gave it a good kick and the pickled veggies (atchara). The rice was well cooked - not too soft and hard with a good amount of garlic. The egg gave it a nice savory umami touch. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! I had a gift card and they had some issues but they resolved it. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Excellent! Simple choices, good prices, and a pleasant experience! As a Filipino it's timely to make these dishes so it's great they're able to make these bowls presentable and great comforting flavor. Thank you, Chef Phillip Esteban and team. I wish you all the best! #FilipinoFoodMovement TIPS: * Silog means garlic rice and egg!

First time seeing this place at the Liberty Market at Liberty Station. Perused the menu and wanted to purchase the Ube Pandesal. However they were sold out already!!! Oh well next time. I ended up just getting the Calamansi beverage!! YUMMMMMMMM I so enjoyed it!!! I will be back again in hopes to get a taste of ube pandesal.

If you want Filipino Modern/Fusion, the flavors here are pretty good. I thought prices were high for Filipino food considering San Diego has a large Filipino population/businesses. The raw onion was a bit overwhelming for me in the Sisig (and I normally love raw onions), but I liked the garlicky flavors and the perfectly cooked egg. Service was great though!

I'm in town on vacation and was craving some god old fashion filipino food. The longganisa was cooked perfectly--I love a good sear on them! The garlic fried rice was also cooked super well with a great garlic and pepper balance. I've never made or had the longganisa topped with fried garlic and it was a game changer. The lumpia Shanghai we're also freshly fried and crispy. Perfect flavor, always balanced with the mae ploy. The service was fast and only took about ten minutes or so to cook. There was no line so it was quickly done, and they take Apple Pay which was so convenient after I forgot my wallet at home!

I miss this place. I've had this dish 4-5 times and only one of the times it was overcooked. The other times it was perfect. Crispy outer skin and juicy and tender in the inside . Ube pandesal here is also AMAZING with the Ube butter. Should've taken a pic of that too. I'll go back here fasho.

Got lunch here in Liberty Island, San Diego. We got Spaghetti and Tocino with rice. Foods are tasty and freshly prepared. Service was decent. The place is very clean and trendy. Love the displays and atmosphere of the store. Lots of parking spaces outside.

10/10 would recommend!! It was my first time to this part of Liberty Station and as soon as I saw this Filipino restaurant, I knew this was the one!! Great selection to pick from, I went with the pork adobo bowl. Good portion sizing, not too much and not too little. The pork was cooked perfectly and was super easy to bite into. Never doubt the flavor here ever!

    Messy pork bowl missing egg
    Sharon W.

My husband and I have always enjoyed white rice. Unfortunately we had a not so great experience this past Sunday. We always get the chopped pork belly and chicken bowls. This time my husbands bowl was missing an egg and the bowl was just messy. By the time he noticed this we were already gone and I tried calling to talk to someone but I don't think this location has a phone. It's a let down for sure, especially when an extra egg is +$3 and we didn't even get the one that comes with the bowl.

Overpriced. Garlic sauce was way too salty and bitter. It looks like the cook did not even taste what they were making and serving.

I have a loved one in a nursing facility in North San Diego and the staff there provide the kind of compassionate care that comes with dignity. After experiencing another facility that was so heartbreaking it left me questioning everything. I wanted to do something meaningful to thank this incredible team. A card didn't seem like enough. Flowers fade. But good food? Good food creates memories. I ordered the sisig, pancit, and their famous signature lumpia rolls, along with pandesal from Valerio's. Ordering was a breeze. I placed my order at 9:30 a.m. and picked everything up at 4:00 p.m. Three small trays turned out to be an incredible amount of food. I planned for 10 people, but it fed a whole lot more as many from different units gathered to share. The moment that sealed it for me happened before a single tray was opened. A nurse I had never met walked over and said, "Oh, you went to Tita's. I recognized their lumpia." That gave me chills because I knew I had chosen the right place. The food tasted like it came straight from Mamasan's kitchen, authentic, comforting, and made with love. Staff members kept stopping by to thank us, and my only conidition, "Make a plate for the receptionist. He's awesome too." That is what great food does. It creates connection. If you're feeding family, friends, coworkers, or an entire care team, Tita's Kitchenette delivers more than delicious Filipino food. They help you show appreciation in a way people will remember. The ambience is posh and decadent, perfect for a fancy date night, but each time we came with friends, so we can try as many of the delicious dishes as possible. Definitely recommend family style. The service was impeccable and attentive. I never felt like we needed to flag someone down. They just magically showed up at the perfect time. Someone even brought out a little stool for my purse, which I've never seen outside of the best Michelin starred restaurants. The drinks were well-balanced and inventive, and perfectly matched the food. Apologies for the poor photos of the dishes - I was tipsy ;) The menu is mostly Filipino fusion, with some additional Asian fusion (ie Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean). If you expect traditional flavors and textures, you might be disappointed. Come with an open mind and your taste buds will thank you. The finesse and effort was evident in even the most humble sounding dish. The roasted cabbage was the dish that came to mind. It was at once soft in the center and crispy on the edges, with a flavor punch from the brown butter miso. The cucumber appetizer was such a hit, that we ordered it a second time. The kare kare short rib was fall off the bone tender. As far as creativity, I have never heard of tteokbokki with perilla pesto, but it absolutely works. It was probably my favorite dish of the night, even if it didn't quite match the rest of the dishes we ordered. Some dishes will still hit that nostalgia factor. For me, those dishes were the Wagyu fried rice and the Taiwanese chicken. Were they the best dishes ever? Probably not, but they were tasty and felt like a warm hug. Sometimes cooking with soup is just as important as all the fancy tricks. This time we did not order any of the mouth-watering steaks, because we wanted to try so many of the dishes on the menu. However, the last time I did have steak, and it was divine. They've done the A5 wagyu justice, and it is well worth the money. In short, I highly recommend checking out Animae. I know I for sure will be back!

I hustled home, grabbed my credit card and high-tailed it back! Since it was still morning I only limited myself to just one food order. I was seriously debating between the pork lumpia and Malasadas. Savory always wins! Ordering and paying was easy peazy lemony squeezey. They are rolled and fried fresh when you order them so I didn't mind the wait at all. He gave me a beeper and told me to wait 5 minutes. $15 dollars for 6 long lumpias. On the menu they are described as jumbo, but the are long not wide. I popped into the coffee shop because they had a feature baker pop-up. I sat down only a few minutes and the beeper buzzed. These pipping hot golden deliciousness was handed to me with the box opened for optimum crispness. They smelled so good but I had discipline to wait until I got home and not burn my mouth. The lumpia were sprinkled with Microgreens and showered in fried garlic which was a very nice touch to elevate the lumpia experience. They were served with the classic sweet chili sauce, a generous amount too. I only needed half and I dipped before every bite. They were more reminiscent of long cigars than the lumpia I'm used to, but very yummy! I'll have to try the chicken adobo next time.
