Where do I start with our memorable and outstanding stay at White Water Inn. This is our 4th stay since November 2023. The Inn is lovely, the staff so friendly, welcoming and thoughtful. I spent the weekend with my 3 best girlfriends and we booked a room with 2 queen beds. We entered into the lobby and it was gorgeous. Loved the style and the beautiful lush plants spread throughout the lobby. The staff was super friendly and very accommodating! We got the keys to our room and drove to the other building. I love the fact that we could park right in front of our room! Major plus!! The room itself... absolutely lovely and so stylish! We enjoyed the Aesop products and all the little touches and decor in the room! The robes and slippers were also very nice and luxurious, better than a lot of hotels where they provided these items. The breakfast basket was also a nice touch each morning with coffee, champagne, and pastries. Another huge plus is it was literally right across the street from Moonstone beach. So lovely and enjoyable to just take a nice stroll along the boardwalk! The rate of the room was a bit on the pricey side. May need to try to find a better time to come when the prices are not so high. But all in all my girlfriends and I truly enjoyed our weekend here! read more

Warning ! Under new management and most of good reviews are before changes. I have stayed at the white water inn for years. This was my first time back. What can I say everything has changed. The decor is not appropriate for the beach vibe, It's cold and modern. I miss the ocean facing patio spa. Its is now a boring soaking tube. I wish you would have cut down the bushes. So we could have at least had a view. I would have given you guys more stars if It was not for the price. I was paid almost three times as much as the average hotel on moonstone. With really nothing different offered by other hotels. With exception to the burnt colored exterior paint and ugly light fixtures. I don't know if I can properly articulate how much we enjoyed our first stay at The White Water Inn. Having a senior pup, Milo, and we understand our time with him is finite, so we've developed a travel style that maximizes our ability to include him as much as possible. I don't think we've stayed anywhere before that had welcomed Milo so enthusiastically. Beyond their love for dogs, I'd have to say a close 2nd best feature is the location. Just across a small street you have some of the most gorgeous unspoiled California coastline. The path along the cliffs is completely boardwalked, so there's no tracking dirt into the room or your car. It's honestly perfect beyond words. The grounds of the inn are meticulously kept in pristine condition. Everything is cheery and bright. The rooms are cozy, we stayed in room 4. Kind of a shabby chic style that personally isn't my taste, but we were very comfortable and had plenty of room between 2 humans and one K9 supervisor. You receive breakfast daily at your door. It's great to have a fresh bite of food without having to trek out or to a "breakfast room". Our room had a fireplace that we used daily and a large jacuzzi tub that we sadly didn't seem to find time to use. I don't think I've ever been so sad to leave a hotel before. We truly cherished our time there and will return as soon as possible. I have no constructive criticism for potential improvements (a rarity for me), so, very well done! read more

3 WEEKS LATER: still waiting on refund which the owner states was credited I just checked in roughly an hour ago. I'm completely underwhelmed with the room, service, "partial ocean view", and hospitality. I'm staring at a parking lot with no ocean view, the room has stains on the floor, the bedding was disheveled, and a towel was laying on the ground when I arrived. Having to walk to the front to retrieve my own cheese board (or anything I'd need for the next two days/nights) does not reflect the high guest service standards that the establishment portrays online. I asked for the alcohol to be removed from my room and was informed that I need to bring it to the lobby myself. I've worked at both Four Seasons and Belmond El Encanto which are comparable in pricing and am well versed in what working in the hospitality industry SHOULD consist of. The hospitality reflected within the hour I've been here is extremely upsetting. I've stayed in multiple hotels on Moonstone Beach that are a fraction of the price. I was able to get the second night refunded and will be booking elsewhere. I am thoroughly disappointed, this was a spot I had been looking forward to enjoying. I'd highly recommend Ocean Point Ranch, Fireside Inn, Cambria Shores Inn, Cambria Beach Lodge, or literally any other hotel. Big bummer. UPDATE: shortly after posting, the lobby attendant came to retrieve the alcohol. She informed me that in order to receive a refund for tomorrow evening, I would have to leave this evening (note: this evening would not be refunded). I am thoroughly confused as to why a manager would think it logical to charge a guest 750$ for a room that they are essentially getting kicked out of in order to refund a second night. It keeps getting worse... Additionally, manager is unavailable for a chit chat....but front desk attendant has been relaying information from manager UPDATE = COMICAL AT THIS POINT I just went to the front desk for forks, a washcloth (only one clean room in bathroom on arrival), and coffee (only one on arrival) The lady stated they were completely out....like what? I asked her to check again as I only had one wash cloth on arrival and she rudely told me to wait in the lobby, I waited for 10 min and she came back with one. Hard to believe they are out of pour over coffee (half the reviews mention how good it is). I'm so annoyed at this place/the service. TO NOTE: water pressure is nonexistent, like, took 10 min to get soap of my body, no AC, no Smart TV/streaming access, knob on portable fan was broken, room was stuffy with windows open due to heavy curtains, chair next to fireplace is seemingly a decoration, walls are paper thin, list goes on... Location is right along Moonstone Beach, you have direct access to the wooden walking trail...so if you enjoy LONG walks with very epic and scenic views...this is totally your place to stay. White Water Inn is one of the many hotels along the Strip on Moonstone Beach. We recently booked "Room #2" - one of the two rooms with the private hot tubs and direct ocean view. Room was fairly spacious and well stocked with amenities. Fireplace, microwave, fridge, etc. There was also a living room area in addition to the bed. The best part hands down though was the patio and hot tub! Sitting in the hot tub, you get direct views of ocean which is amazing. Service here is very personalized. They deliver coffee and a light breakfast you to your every morning and even wipe down your windows on your cars. Every employee I spoke to was VERY friendly except for the younger employee who checked us in (not sure why they had attitude or what their issue was!). Pricing wise, it was about $330 a night for the hot tub suites (in December) so I can imagine it being pretty pricey during Summer season. If you do visit, I highly recommend paying a bit more for the hot tub suite. You get an ocean view form within your room and the view is priceless and in my opinion a way better value then the standard rooms. I'd give White Water Inn a solid 4 stars! Hotel is in a great location right across from the beach trail. There are two separate properties. One is the yellow one shown in most photos and other is grey. We stayed in grey location. Pros: room is a good size, there is a Jacuzzi tub in restroom, outside there is a communal table, nice fireplace, room was clean, breakfast is brought to your door, parking is convenient, coffee and bagels are good. Cons: view to ocean is very limited from room, jacuzzi does not work, there is random door leading to the back of the rooms that is kept locked, fridge was hidden in closet, bed was really uncomfortable, room was hot!, no AC, only a tiny window can be opened to get fresh air, room has very little natural light (light has to be kept on even during the day), no USB ports to charge your phone and outlets are not in convient locations. I really wanted to like this location but price does not match services offered. read more

I was really excited to stay here to celebrate our anniversary after reading all the amazing reviews but I guess that was a mistake to do because I came with expectations and they were not met. Struggling between 3 and 4 stars because the people in the office deserve only 2 stars (one morning they greeted us with a good morning so that was a nice change). We left feeling like the unwanted in-laws that visit you but have to be nice to just because. We arrived around 4pm and the lady at check in was helping a family before us asking her what preferences she had for breakfast and what pastries she wanted and offered her the famous fresh baked cookies the reviews rave about. However when it got to our turn to check in, the same lady didn't seem so cheerful and spoke minimally to us. She did not ask for our breakfast preferences other than time for it to be delivered, cream or no cream, tea or coffee. I said I didn't drink tea or coffee but was not offered an extra juice or anything else. Instead she just handed us our keys and told us our room number with a flat tone and no smile. We took the keys and thanked her and were not offered any refreshments or cookies like the lady who was being helped before us. When we checked into the room, we saw that we had no view at all. The fireplace for us was the most important factor as it was one of the main reason we booked here. Unfortunately, the fireplace was very finicky as others reviews had mentioned where it's only a pilot light the whole time and it works 80% of the time while the other times it didn't. I followed the front desks directions on operating it so luckily I managed to get it to work most of the time but the other times it wouldn't work. We had no problems with the water pressure but at times the water from the sink was scalding hot or the shower water would burn us if someone flushed the toilet so be careful. The bed was super comfortable thank goodness and the heater kept the room warm although it is pretty loud. The room included a keurig and complimentary daily pods and water bottles which was nice. Overall the room wasn't bad but I left really disappointed in the service from the staff at the front desk. We had gone to the office multiple times in our stay and each time we were barely acknowledged. We didn't get a warm welcome or a warm thank you goodbye upon checking out. And we were never offered cookies even up until check out. When we asked them questions about activities or recommendations they barely looked up from the computer screen. The daily breakfast delivered was decent and consisted of an over toasted cheese bagel and a croissant. They were very stingy on the condiments as my boyfriend and I had to share only one little packet of jam for the two pastries. They gave us two bananas to go with it. No eggs or anything else others had mentioned. Also they stopped doing the free DVD rentals or free popcorn. But they do continue to kindly clean our car windows in the morning which I give them props for. Overall, I would have had a way better experience had the staff in the office been more warm and friendly towards us. My main concern was the rude and unhelpful lady at the front desk who refused to understand or understand from a customer pov (point of view) Being so upset I decided to spend a valuable 5 mins writing the experience: We were making an online booking of 2 premier king rooms for 2 nights at White Water and thought will call up to clarify about having 2 rooms booked. This is the first time I heard a hotel saying we cannot book 2 rooms together - irrespective of whether you book now or after 6 months I believe (we have 2 cute kids who we prefer hanging alongside us). She says - We can put a request, but the kids may need to be in another room away. Many hotels say they can request but not guarantee but from Vegas to Europe they do fix 2 rooms together for family. So, Here we are booking 2 rooms and the lady at the front desk (Jessica) ALSO says don't book 2 rooms then book 1 room instead with 2 queen beds! (DUH??) - Pity the owners as somebody is lowering the sale and I am a business owner too. Step 2 - I am trying to find a solution and getting none from the other side - I requested if I can book them over the phone with the hotel then to accomodate our request and she rudely said that wouldn't be possible! She manages everything (I believe a single person is not a team) and nobody else can help.. She had so many possible ways to help maybe make a note post my online reservation or something and she just went by ABC - these are our policies and the constitution cannot change!. Not just that the lady did not even check for what dates was the booking needed to see availability. Extremely unhelpful, maybe judgemental, unflexible and rude. I think the resort needs to up their customer relations and management standards, be a little more kids and family friendly and atleast revisit the "front desk rudeness syndrome" disease lingering there. This is an awesome retreat with excellent view of Moonstone Beach and especially from the front two rooms with the private Jacuzzi patios attached. Upon our arrival, the two ladies running the office were friendly and bubbly upon greeting us during check in. They had homemade cookies waiting for us. The room was quaint with a panoramic window facing the beach. The patio has a sitting area with chase lounge chairs and an actual stand alone hot tub. Partaking in the hot tub watching the sunset was absolutely breath taking. The bed was comfortable and the room was warmed by a gas fireplace. We found out the fireplace can definitely heat up the room to point that windows and doors needed to be opened to cool the room down. We found the was a stand up oscillating fan which was a nice treat to keep the air circulating in the room especially while sleeping. This is a great little hideaway and will definitely will be back. read more

Five stars is not enough to describe how good White Water is. It is truly fantastic in every form from Check In to Check Out. When you enter the main building, you are welcomed by three gas torches going up the steps which was a very cool touch. There is also a gas fire pit outside of the main building. The lady who checked us into the motel was very helpful with everything and helped us get checked in super quickly. The room was top notch all around. We booked a double queen room and we loved it. There is lots of space for luggage and a nice TV that also came with complimentary access to Netflix (no need to sign in!). All of the rooms come with a very nice gas fireplace as well. The breakfast service was simply incredible. Between 7:30 and 8 AM, a picnic basket will be dropped off at the butlers table outside your room in order to not wake you up. The food was some of the best we have ever had. We were provided pastries in little bags (that even had our names on them) and a full thermos of coffee with all the sugar and half and half you would need. There was also pour over coffee available at any time. The breakfast service also provided fresh squeezed orange juice that will make you never drink Tropicana again, it was so delicious. All of the breakfast was included free of charge! The internet service was great as there is an access point in every room. Did I mention that there are two EV Chargers on site as well? I also really enjoyed the ocean background that was on our tv when we walked into the room. The only thing that I wish all of the rooms had was some sort of air conditioning or mini split as we were pretty warm in our room. However, some of the rooms do have mini splits for heating/ac. They did provide a fan in all rooms, however, so I can't complain. Check out was great with the man giving us some tips of walks we could do around the Cambria area. It also looks like there is a standby generator on the premises that powers the guest rooms if there was an outage, but it was not used during our stay so I am not sure. 5 stars all around here. This hotel is in a perfect location. It's newly updated and now the aesthetic is extremely instagram chic. However, we had enough uncomfortable problems with the room that it made the $280/night price hard to swallow. - the roll-down black canvas shades on the windows let in no air, and there's no way to filter light. It's either pitch black or you're revealed to the parking lot. - the pilot light makes the glass front of the gas fireplace extremely warm, like it pumps out heat even when it's off. With no air conditioner and no way to open window-shades without letting in the outside light we were burning up at night. When we called the front desk they said they'd come check it but never did. - the (windowless) bathroom fan automatically shuts off when there's no moisture and the rooms are very small so if you're using the bathroom but not the shower...you can see where this is headed. Also the fridge is in the bathroom which seems unhygienic. - The wall lights are on a bare bulb fixture - very Bauhaus but feels like you're being interrogated while you're trying to watch tv. The pour over coffee in the rooms is super fussy but tastes great! The color scheme and decorations are very appealing. Moonstone drive is fantastic. read more

Wish Moonstone Beach was dog friendly but there is at least a long boardwalk to walk the dogs on. Very friendly service. Next time we will try and get an end room for better ocean views. Perfect. Alex was the stand-in for the usual office clerk the day I checked in. Extraordinary in every way, helpful to the core, he even rescued me when I locked myself out of my room, lucky number 7, (reminder, Wendy, the doors are self locking), and gave me a spare key to keep in my car. Too bad there was no microwave nor a coffee maker, but you can get stuff heated, and coffee made if you traipse over to the office, not that far away. The room has a state of the art tv and a small refrigerator. The room, huge, with a very cozy bed, whirlpool bath, and gas fireplace. The very 21st century amenities and interior are hidden in a very quaint, perfectly charming, beach cottage with a faux post Victorian look (flower boxes and all). I love the wooden boardwalk that is just across the street, the dog friendly cottages, the hand delivered continental breakfasts delivered to your room each morning. There is a large whirlpool bathtub that you don't dare use because of the serious water shortage. Thankfully, there is a low water shower head to keep you clean instead. If you simply want respite, take walks along the beach and stick your toes in the foaming sea water. There is a small State Beach nearby, within walking distance, where you can sit and eat your picnic lunch, or take a hike down the bluffs into the rocky areas and have encounters with the ocean. This hotel is an absolute hidden gem on the central coast. My partner and I visited last year for Valentine's Day weekend and had such a great experience that we did the same this year. My husband and I are locals, restaurant and vacation rental owners (so appreciate good hospitality)... and I do not go out of my way to rant about businesses OR write negative reviews, because I understand how that can affect morale etc.. However, we were on an adventure walk along the moonstone beach boardwalk in Cambria today, enjoying the start of the new year... as well as exploring hotel options for our 10 year vow renewal party this coming June.. I would like to think we are young, hip people- the kind that this hotel seems to be interested in attracting... so when we passed by this hotel and noticed the cute market and what appeared to be a wine and coffee bar, I suggested we take a peek inside and get more info about what they have to offer... I was also interested in taking a little break from our walk and ordering a glass of wine! However, when we stepped into the lobby, the lady at the front desk: 1. was not warm or welcoming 2. seemed perplexed that we wanted to look inside their market 3. Immediately shut us down when we vocalized the idea of sitting and having a glass of wine and enjoying the view.. she said "it's for GUESTS ONLY!" No apology, no.. "oh I'm so sorry we aren't able to accommodate you at this time due to xyz... reason... we can only serve our hotel guests at the moment.." It was so off-putting, rude, and not hospitable at all. We were ready to spend like... $50 in there on a bite to eat and some wine... which you would think a hotel/cafe establishment would love to have on a sleepy Monday afternoon. Very strange and sad... it was pretentious and unwelcoming, and unfortunately we will not be giving this hotel a try in the future or renting out 10 rooms for our anniversary party. This place was on our bucket list for years! We first saw it as we walked by during the pandemic in 2021 as we had stayed elsewhere that weekend. Our other hotel on the water just about a mile up the road was less than clean and although the staff was nice it was not great. It smelled of cigarette smoke! This hotel/ White water, looked fun, young, and hip. Stay far away tho - it's really so sad and disappointing on another level! We were not asking for much...just some simple info - it could not be given easily. Training must be given to staff about how to react and present accurate info. It is not, in the least, at all. The customer service is horrific. If you want to be treated well - and feel like you are welcome, do not book a room here. The staff is confused, miss-informed, rude and less than helpful. Terrible Service and unlivable Rooms We booked 4 nights in their Ocean View Deluxe Suite .. We drove all the way from Coronado San Diego .. When we arrived the power was out , the wifi didn't work ... the man at desk was condescending to me when I asked about no power . I asked him if they could offer us anything complimentary to make up for the fact that we had no power , no wifi , no TV ...he just smiled and said NOPE ! Lousy customer service attitude . The walk in shower was an accident waiting to happen .. The floor tiles they have are SUPER SLICK SLIPPERY and you can easily fall down just trying to wash up or leave the shower .. They need GRAB BARS to enter & leave .. The lights on the bed nite stands may look cool but they will blind you when turned on ... They need dimmer switches Not very romantic . The fireplace flame was barely noticeable! What a joke Oh also ... good luck trying to bend over to the floor to make coffee in a strange coffee pot . I have never seen one like that ... So many accolades I have for this place! The staff is comprised of the loveliest and most attentive people you could imagine. I loved the happy, positive energy they exude, along with their willingness to please and meet your every need. I love a place where I can get out of my car and be at my room...no walking through a huge lobby, no elevator, stairs, etc. The lobby here is a luxurious living room with walls of glass, and several areas to sit and visit, or just enjoy the ocean view. The staff will serve you wine, water, tea. There is always beautiful and relaxing music, so you feel relaxed and pampered. The rooms and suites are beautifully appointed, and all of the ones in which I have stayed had large windows with views of the ocean. I'm the morning, you will awaken to find a picnic basket outside your door with fresh baked goods, bottled cold pressed orange juice, a sparkling champagne for a mimosa(if you choose) and a large thermos of fresh brewed coffee. This was a last minute booking.....as in we booked an hour before we needed a room. Everywhere else had no vacancy and was $$$$. Saw the great reviews and took a shot at it. So glad I did. It is right next to the beach. You can see it outside your window. The room was clean and had a fireplace Free water, tea, apple and bagels for breakfast. There is a log book in the room that visitors can write in. Next stay I will be booking the room at the front with the jacuzzi! The only negative thing I have to say was the piping in my room was very loud(room 10). If the neighbor used the water it woke me up at night. Light sleeper. Otherwise I had a great stay and will be back on my next trip to visit hearst castle. read more

This was probably one of my favorite places I've ever stayed! The location is wonderful across the beach and the Main Street/many restaurants are nearby. The staff at the front desk were welcoming and helpful with recommendations. The rooms are clean and bed is sooo comfortable and cozy. The coffee and pastries provided every morning outside your door were a very nice touch. The only thing I wished our room had was an extra mirror besides the one in the bathroom. Also as kind of tacky as this is - they didn't have their mugs available for purchase at the moment due to shortages :( hopefully next time if I ever visit again. Other than that would definitely recommending stopping by here if you're looking to relax! read more

Ugh wish I can give more stars! Stayed at White Water for one night (should have booked for more nights ) and it was PERFECT! My boyfriend and I lucked out by booking through Groupon! As we checked in we were told that unfortunately they will stop accepting Groupon bookings after having trouble :( We stayed in room 10, bed and pillows were super comfortable! The room included two chairs and a small table for their yummy light breakfast they offer (bagel, fruit, coffee/tea, and hard boiled eggs!) The room also had 20 years worth of journal entries from previous stays! LOVED reading their recommendations and the reasons for their stay. The only con would be their little refrigerator didn't seem to work no matter how much we tried to turn it up, but was not at all a deal breaker since they do have an ice machine next to the office. The view of Moonstone Beach was breathtaking! I sure wished we would have stayed longer but we will definitely be back! read more

I've canceled quite a few flight-required travel plans over the last year for obvious reasons, and I needed a weekend out of the big city to just clear my mind. Cue a last-minute drive up to White Water, where I not only found a pretty good deal, but had an excellent stay. Being right across the street from a beach trail and some tide pools, this visit was exactly what I needed. Besides the fresh coastal air without too many disease-ridden people around to worry about, the hotel itself was extremely pleasant. The rooms are built more like little cottages, and they even leave everyone breakfast treats every morning like you're at a retreat. The fireplace was a nice touch too. Great location with views of the sunset over the horizon line of the ocean. Soooooooo super clean. If your a clean freak this is your place. I will definitely be back and will tell anyone that asks, how great this Inn is. Breakfast is delivered to your room at your desired time. Slept with the windows open, can smell the ocean. Staff is friendly and very helpful from the moment I called for a reservation. Awesome restaurants within walking district. Quaint town of Cambria is a short drive across the 101. The most amazing place we stayed during our CA road trip. Checking in was quick and simple! They were ready for us with a full plate of cookies :) We stayed in room #1 which costs more but has THE BEST amenities you cannot find anywhere else at this price. They have thought of everything! This Inn isn't a Ritz Carlton (save your $$$$) which made it feel so relaxing and at home. All employees were overly helpful when needed and our room was clean and well maintained. My only regret is that we couldn't spend more time here. Can't wait to go back soon! read more

Having stayed in many hotels, our bar is set rather high- especially in this COVID period of time. This hotel exceeded are expectations. First, the staff are delightful. Very friendly, warm and willing to serve. Second, the rooms are impeccably clean. You can eat off of the floor. The water pressure. The shower along with the lush towels that simply smell clean not bleach yummy is wonderful. Thirdly and probably most important is the attention to details. Having Aesop as amenities is! Simply doesn't get better than that. The basket of items in the room are things you wanted or liked and didn't even know you needed. The breakfast "basket" delivered to your door in the morning with coffee, yummy muffins AND mimosas was an extra touch. In the evening, we sat in the lobby which has the coolest vibe- a place you could sit all evening and watch the sunset, have a yummy cocktail or glass of wine from their bar, and just bask in the California pacific. Location is amazing, but all the extras make it a place not to be missed. We are absolutely coming back to have this place fill our wells! The best motel I've found on Moonstone beach. I've stayed at various motels on Moonstone beach and this is probably the best. First, they keep this place neat and tidy in typical British fashion. They go the extra mile with details like hand delivered breakfast (best I've found so far), and washing your car windows. They also have free video rentals, you hear that sea otter inn? One negative is that this place has the worst cell phone reception. This is a problem all along Moonstone beach though. Tips - Stay away from the Sea Chest and El Chorlito ( San Simeon) GO TO SEBASTIAN'S in San Simeon for lunch.. Best sandwiches in California. read more

Had a great weekend at Whitewater and really appreciated the nice clean room. The only reason we're giving this place three stars was due to the initial service checking in. Upon checking in the woman working did not seem quite suited for customer service in her sharp and annoyed tone to our questions. We shared that one of us had a gluten allergy and we're excited for the breakfast basket. She seemed annoyed by the request and asked if some nuts or macaroons would be good for us. Obviously we said and are thankful for options when you have an allergy like this. I never did receive any GF option, goes to show that she didn't really care to help with the issue. Or other normal questions seem to annoy her as well. I know it's a tough time for many people but I think we all do still deserve customer service when spending a lot of money. The room was clean and simple but the customer service did not meet the price point. read more
