"I'm obsessed." - me walking into Whiteys. Situated right on the river, this place is about as scenic as it gets. Indoor and outdoor seating, a covered patio, tropical tiki vibes all around. Walking in feels like you're on vacation. Servers were super friendly. We sat on the outdoor patio near the boat docks. Live music playing, we were basking in the ambiance when..... a spider dropped down, spinning its web. Okay, unnerving for sure. Then, we looked up... and see, I can't even tell you how many spiders, variously situated through the rafters and the awnings, including two directly over our table. We decided to ride it out and hope they stayed put, as we were truly enjoying ourselves. Our drinks arrived - a margarita and an espresso martini. They were delicious... but very small. We ordered another round. We ordered the fried catfish with mac & cheese and rice & beans; and the stuffed flounder with rice; both came with hushpuppies. All of it was delicious.... but small! We finished our meal, cleaning both plates, and received our check. $90!! I honestly don't mind paying for good food, but considering the portion sizes, to pay $90 and leave a restaurant still hungry.... I'm not sure I can justify coming back for a full meal. I'll definitely be back to check out happy hour, because the ambiance is undeniable. But minus a star for all the spiders and minus a star for the small plates. read more

Whiteys underwent a change in ownership and it is apparent EVERYWHERE..and NOT in a good way...I have been a regular for the past 5 years and it was a local fave and great!!..but now that salt life owns it they changed the menu and decor and ruined what was a local Middleburg spot.. the decor is awful and the food is not what it was.. shame on them for not doing their research‍even the key lime pie sucks now..no reason to go back.. read more

Seeing that I live only 1/4 mile away, we are frequent customers at Whitey's. My favorite meal is their Fish n Chips dinner which I ordered tonight. What I got tonight had no resemblance to any Fish n Chips I had ever had from there. If you look at these pictures, the one on the black plate was tonight and the one on the wood counter top is what I expected. This is a cute spot in the water. I showed up to meet my cousin here and there just happened to be one outdoor spot left to eat at. When in Florida I usually eat more seafood since I'm closer to the source. While I waited, the server took my drink order. The server was killing it waiting on the entire outside area by herself. I think they only had two servers in the entire place. I get that it's hard to find help! I got the free hushpuppies since there was a way to redeem an offer for them on Yelp. I also ordered fried gator because "when in Rome". The food came out at a good time. The food runner forgot the sauce and left to get it but never returned. I tracked down the server and got the sauce. I enjoyed the salad also. Simple Caesar but the lettuce was much needed for a fried meal. All was delicious. Caitlyn was amazing! Today we came in with a very huge (about 50 people) party. We had all just had attended a funeral and only had 2 hours before having to make it to the burial site. She and her other coworkers managed to feed all 50 in a very short amount of time. What amazed me more is her attitude, it could have shown on her face how overwhelmed she was but she didn't let it. She kept being pleasant the entire time, and I commend her for that and her excellent customer service and professionalism. The food was also delicious as always! read more

This is a really cool restaurant with a great location and view on the water. As great as that is, the food fell way short. I had the famous Whitey's Fish sandwich and it was the worst fish sandwich I have ever eaten. It came with two fish strips served on a semi-stale bun with a piece of lettuce and a tomato the size of a pickle. Who wants a fish sandwich where the fish are two measly strips? Not to mention, this battered fish didn't even taste good. I ordered a side of beans and rice, and although it arrive five minutes after my sandwich, it was really good, but was a very small side portion. Five stars for the location and view, four stars for the restaurant's ambience, but only two stars for both the food quality and service. read more

My granddaughter and I came on a Sunday afternoon and the weather was fantastic. We were sat promptly and then... Waited and Waited... and waited. 15 min later we were approached by a waitress that told us our waiter would be here soon. 5 min later she came back and asked if he'd made it to us yet. No he hasn't. Our family was passing through while on vacation and decided to swing in for lunch on our way home. We were told to sit anywhere, so we chose a nice water front booth. We were there for around 10-15 minutes without anyone coming to seeing us, but we notice a couple sitting behind us, who showed up well after us, who had already gotten their drinks. After asking the bar staff if we could get any service, a very polite and apologetic waitress showed up to serve us. We asked about a few dishes that we seen online and we were told that they are no longer available. All the food we did order was deep fried, with a lot of the oil still in it. Even the one plate that wasn't deep fried, had a decent layer of grease on the top of it. The worst part of our visit was when we were using the restrooms on our way out and we had to go INSIDE the restaurant. Everything wreaked of cigarette smoke! It was absolutely disgusting. This seems like a "good ol' boys hang out"... complete with confederate flag decor on the walls. It's unfortunate the location is amazing and it has a ton of potential. read more

Been here a few times. A Go-To place when up in the Middleburg or Blanding area. I always defer to a seafood entree and of course some oysters, gator bites, a/o hush puppies. Food is always on point. Have enjoyed seating bit inside and outside and the atmosphere is always enjoyable form both customers and any background music. The servers are always professional and interactive with our groups. I go get my son from NC once a year , my precious son has a disability, we love to give him great experiences, so we took him on the boat to go to Whiteys , now, I'm a very casual person so it was great to go to a place where we can relax , well ,,,, yall,,,, it seemed our server was much more relaxed then we were, she barely spoke didn't bring to use things we asked for, i.e. extra sauces, literally it's all we asked for and we couldn't even get that, she took my son's glass when it got empty and didn't refill, just took it, our bill was right at 130.00 that was including a 14.00 dollar drink that we swear had 0 liquor in it, now we gave her a tip, we're not assholes but really she didn't deserve the 20 in cash we left her, just know , stay away from the waitress that are the younger generation, 0 personality took pretty long to get waited , ordered, served, billed, what a sad lunch, it's ok whitey's you keep that 130 bucks, we won't do it again. read more

Parking was hard to come by, but we found a table quickly in the rear bar area overlooking the river at sunset and got waited in a timely manner. Not fancy, but good value, good service, and cool location We rolled in on a Tuesday night and the special was an all-you-can eat shrimp boil. I'm not a huge fan of shrimp, but went with the flow and ordered it anyway. Had an Old Fashioned from the bar that was delish too. The food was of course plentiful, the shrimp and sausage were great, a few veggies thrown in and some corn on the cob. You do have to peel the shrimp, so be prepared for the extra work, worth it since the shrimp was good. Our server was very prompt, the all-you-can-eat specials took some time to make it to the table, so I can only assume the kitchen was busy. The decor is classic bar...with the bonus of some autographed guitars from Lynrd Skynrd (how the hell do you spell that?) and Molly Hatchet. Locals. Awesome dockside eatery in Middleburg. Great food and drinks + a lovely view and live music. Since it's so popular, the kitchen can get overwhelmed, but! They do have a TON of seating so while you might have to wait an hour for your entrees on a Saturday night you can at least get seated, enjoy the atmosphere, grab an app like their giant pretzel (so good! ) and some beers. I tried their salmon bowl with brown rice and wasabi cole slaw and enjoyed this. My man enjoyed his shrimp tacos. When I tried three of the raw oysters there seemed to be grit like sand or a broken shell in each one. Personally would not order those from here again. My friend raved about the cilantro butter cream sauce on the mahi mahi. Hush puppies were on point! Sweet potato fries were also great while the mac and cheese could have been better. For a city surrounded by water the places to grab a bite or drink on a boat are few and far between. So, if you're going to go to one of the few places, Whitey's is a great place to go! There were 5 of us so we ordered a few different appetizers. The gator tail and the mahi fish nuggets were excellent! Once we placed our order we returned to the boat and waited for a phone call to pick up our food. It was a gorgeous day to sit on our boat and enjoy our food. Okay so let me start with the positive.... The ambiance looks fantastic, the space is big and has a lot to offer visually.... That said I can't rate much else, because the service was non-existent! I arrived almost an hour before the kitchen closed, which is apparently when the staff checks out. After sitting for a while, and all of the wait staff passing by and ignoring us, we asked the bar, which told us the kitchen closed in 5 min and we were outta luck. Would have been great to know that we needed to order from the bar or whatever. The music, atmosphere and dance floor were great. Unfortunately I was so hungry I forgot to take photos, thinking I would when I got my order in. Maybe eat somewhere else, and come here for drinks and dancing, because the service and hospitality stops at the entrance unfortunately. Ultimately I'm more disappointed about having to write a less than stellar review, because I was actually excited to promote this lovely looking long time establishment. So perhaps your luck, and other reviews will shed a better light on this place, unfortunately I can not at this time, as I had to drive to Mellow Mushroom to get food & then went to Cheers for drinks and dancing, both of which had fantastic service! If management reads this, I'm not opposed to an edit, since I want to like this place, but perhaps rethink your service strategy, and at least make customers informed/have a management/host of some sort when people arrive, so that costumers can have a better experience. This is a good seafood restaurant with views of the beautiful river. We even spotted an alligator lollygagging near the pier. This place has been on my to go list for awhile. My dinner companions ordered fish and chips and the fish tacos. I ordered the shrimp basket with cheese grits. Everything was hot and delicious. My Rhode Island friend had never tried a hush puppy or seen rice in the salt shaker!! We do take things like that for granted here in the wonderful south. We've been to Whiteys fish camp a few times in the past. We like hanging out watching the boats dock or listening to live music. Drinks were fine as always the atmosphere and view are great. Today's visit was disappointing. We had a late lunch on the enclosed outside patio. I had the fish and chip dinner which was better. They forgot both our coleslaw sides and our waitress disappeared. A food runner served us lunch and was gone. My wife had the Fish of the Day. It was grouper. She had it blackened and it was definitely not fresh. Even with the blackened spices, grouper should never taste strong. The market price for that small piece of grouper was $32.99. Too much for a less than fresh piece of fish. Unfortunately, our waitress was away from the area for a good 15 minutes. We knew she was gone, because we had to ask another server for our waitress and when she returned she was putting on her apron. I understand sh*t happens, it might have been a personal emergency but there was no apology for her absence and it was too late to take the fish back. It will be a long time before we return. read more
