Whole Hog...you can do better. I have eaten here many times but the last couple have been just okay but last night was not close to your standards. My daughter and I came in close to closing 7:40 and decided to order takeout. We ordered a sliced brisket sandwich and wings. When we got home we opened the sandwich and there was 2 small pieces of brisket that was not sliced it was (best I can explain) a tube , skinny hot dog or about .375 x .375 by 4 inches layer across the bun. The wings were dry and did not have a sauce that we requested. I will say my daughter enjoyed her mac and cheese. Damn good 'Que. Just a handful of parking spots located next to a Rita's, right on Rt. 70. Small dining room with trophies all around winning some serious competitions. Family lives near by and I wanted to check this place out. We both got a half slab, but I went with the creamy corn & coleslaw, while she got a side salad and potato salad. Excellent all around. There's a glaze on the ribs and sauce wasn't needed, but she got a sweet & thick sauce & and went with a slightly spicy one. Great smoke flavor on the ribs with the meat falling off the bone. These were a good meaty rib and very filling. Finger licking good! The sides were awesome as well, every single bite. The cornbread was delicious, a little crumbly but not dry and a hint of sweet to it. My brother & sister-in-law have gotten platters of the beef brisket and pulled pork plus buns before and that's how I discovered Whole Hog.. couldn't forgot something this good! read more

After watching so many BBQ shows on Food Network, my family and I wanted to put some bbq in our mouths instead of our eyes. So we came here and it was GREAT! First of all, it's a small place and very clean. The person who took our order was friendly and helpful. He took time to help us figure out what to get. We got the ribs and brisket. Ribs fell off the bone and brisket was super tender. Ribs were great by themselves, but I tried one of their 6 table side sauces on the brisket: Sweet and Bold. So good. This was my first time trying this BBQ spot and boy was I disappointed! The young lady at the register was very polite and helpful. She suggested I try the chicken when I asked. So I decided to do the 2 meat combo. The meat was just okay, not tender nor really flavorful! I used lots of BBQ sauce. The macaroni and cheese was very disappointing it tasted like boxed Mac and Cheese. Ugh the Potato Salad was just disgusting... All I could taste was mayonnaise and skin from the potatoes. We found this place by accident after a trip to Johnson's Corner Farm. The place was busy. Lots of pick up orders going on, but the staff was very pleasant and efficient so we didn't wait long. I had the smoked Brisket and my husband had the sausage. Both were excellent!! Preferred the Cole slaw over the potato salad ( to much mayo not enough flavor) the variety of sauces was a great surprise from sweet to spicy and everything in between. The baked beans are TO DIE FOR. We loved it so much we decided to cater a party and it did not disappoint. Everyone loved the brisket pulled pork and sausage. I want to go back and try the 1/2 chicken that looks delicious. Oh and the Mac & Cheese and cornbread: delightful! We live 40 minutes from this place and will frequent it. I have been here several times and love the brisk. Today I got the usual brisket plate with baked beans and fry's. The corn bread is usually moist and delicious,not today! it was burned,brown in color not golden. I went to the counter to get a different piece , the manager rolled her eyes. The next piece was smaller and dry, but not brown with the top scraped off. I HAVE passed by this BBQ joint every Friday for the past 8 weeks. Finally, I had the excuse I needed to stop in and try some of their victuals...New Year's Eve! Let me get right to the point. Their food is hog heaven for any connoisseur of the BBQ treatment. I believe that you can tell the quality of a BBQ joint just by sampling it's sauces. Whole Hog Cafe gets it right! My order only included a pound of pulled pork, brisket, a quart of beans, and corn bread. Let's start with the meats. Both were smokey, tender, and tasty. I do not know which I liked more. But I topped off the meats with a sampling of 4 different sauces. All delicious. Okay, so the beans were hot and fresh with a slightly sweet finish. The beans are most excellent. Definitely 2 thumbs up. Not to be outdone, the corn bread did not disappoint. Corn bread this good qualifies to be called "corn cake." Slathered with butter, this can can hold its own as a dessert. It is just fantastic. The service was fast and friendly too. On the whole (pun intended), Whole Hog Cafe goes the whole 10 yards. I am definitely a fan. Whole Hog will be a favorite from now on! The ribs here are incredible. I love BBQ and these were some of the best I have ever had. The brisket and pulled pork are really good as well, just not as incredible as the ribs. I also had the mac and cheese and the potato salad; both of those were really good as well. Nothing here was awful. The only thing that was meh was the cornbread. It was just okay but even then it's not like it was bad. Prices fit with any BBQ spot in the area. Sauce wise the mild and the strong and sweet are both very good. I don't care for spicy BBQ so I couldn't give you an honest review of the other sauces they provide. Definitly stop here if you get the chance! read more

I wanted to love this place, but there were parts of my experience that were great and others that were disappointing... The sides items were good, you can tell they're made in house. Some of the best beans I've ever had. Chili was excellent. Except the corn bread, which was stale and couldn't eat it (may have been originally made in house, but mine was clearly old). Then the meat. I ordered the Brisket, which is kind of my "thing". I love good brisket. I had mixed feelings on this brisket, however. It did not LOOK good - it was a solid color brown throughout the slices. I've never seen brisket look like that. However, the taste was nice. But then again, it was a bit dry. Honestly, I think it was cooked, cut, then cooled... ultimately re-heated to serve. That would explain why it was brown thru and dry. Good flavor was there, but the final taste was off. The service was pleasant. And I loved the selection of sauces. Since I only visit the area once a year (to visit family), we'll try to be back. Maybe a different day will be better. read more

If I could give this one star I would. Do not come here unless you have a lot of time to wait for your food. 6:30 on a Friday night. 3 tables occupied with couples. So.... not crowded. Phone not ringing either. So not that busy. No line at the register. Walked in and walked right up to the register and placed an order for take out. 2 sandwiches. 1 person taking orders. 4 teens/young adults and one older male adult in the kitchen area. No one was wearing masks or gloves. How do I know this? I waited 35 minutes for my 2 sandwiches and was standing at the end of the beverage counter while I waited. I could see into the kitchen. The blond girl needs to stop touching her face. And maybe the kitchen staff should be wearing hats or hairnets? Unless they were custom smoking the brisket for my 2 sandwiches, 35 minutes to put already cooked meat on 2 buns and put little containers of beans and potato salad in styrofoam containers is inexcusable. I've been eating here frequently for several years and was super excited when they moved into the Mill and a bigger space because I like supporting small businesses and all the food and service has always been great. We ordered tonight and I could not believe how bad the meal was, specifically the potato salad, cole slaw and pulled chicken. The potato salad was mushy with hard, undercooked potatoes mixed in and they've changed how they make the salad because it doesn't taste or smell anything like it used to. The cole slaw has also changed because it is so salty, it's not edible. It smells like they are using soy sauce in the slaw, that's how salty it is and it's an off color, not the usual bright color it typically used to be. The pulled chicken was hard and old, with a lot of dried out chewy bits. The saving grace was the pulled pork, which was delicious. I'm so disappointed with tonight's meal. :,( read more

When in to whole hog cafe on 2/4/2020 , I was Disappointed in the brisket plate that I received, this is the second time that they are now cutting it to thin and it crumbles in little pieces went you try and cut it . Food was good and the BBQ sauce I got (spicy) was excellent also. There was no one in there so there wasn't a line and it's convenient to the highway being that you don't have to go around a jug handle to get to it!
