I am not a BBQ expert but have traveled enough and tried many various types of BBQ. We got a variety of meats and sides. All of the meats were very good. I liked the Ribs, brisket and pork the best. The chicken was also very good and the sausage was good but my least favorite. As for sides the beans were awesome with pieces of brisket in it. The coleslaw was also excellent, crisp, creamy and a great a contrast to the meat. The Mac and cheese was good and the potato salad was ok. I really liked the cornbread but I could see some not liking the crisp charred edges. We got sauces 2 (sweet/spicy), 3 (spicy) and 4 (Carolina vinegar). All were excellent. Overall it was an extremely satisfying meal. The meats were cooked perfectly. Tender but still a bite, not overly smoked or sauced. Will definitely order there again. read more

Well I accidentally realized this gem was here!! I couldn't believe my luck... I ordered a meat sampler and each and everything was delicious. The absolute best pulled pork I've had stand alone no sauce. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is I wish they had fries or some kind of fried potatoes. BBQ just doesn't seem right without it. You have to try it. They have lots of other great sides too. I'm just a fry person with my BBQ. My wife and I recently had a casual dinner at the Cherry Hill WHC. This wasn't our first time. We have always enjoyed the food and thought it was a perfect place for a quiet, "unwinding" kind of Saturday evening. This time, we had a comparison to the great BBQ restaurants of the South. We recently spent some time in Charleston, SC and visited one of their "top three" rated BBQ restaurants. It was terrific, but we honestly felt our meal a couple weeks ago at Whole Hog was superior to what we had in Charleston! The ribs were meatier and evenly cooked to perfection. The brisket was tender through and through; not loaded with fat and gristle. And had a moist smokiness where it didn't even need any sauce (although we did sauce it!) The staff was young and very courteous and efficient. They seemed really happy to see us there. They chatted with us a bit as they did other customers. The manager (?) was attentive and friendly. Plus the whole place was clean and tidy. We have often thought the BBQ in our area was kind of ersatz: you know, an attempt at the real thing. But we can tell you, having visited one of the top BBQ places in SC, Whole Hog of Cherry Hill is legit! It is the real thing! And it is very clear the staff takes this seriously. Kudos! Stopped in with my customer for a quick lunch meeting. It's a small place and easy to miss but I'm glad we didn't. Service was quick .... We ordered at a counter and got our food delivered to the table in individual trays. I got the beef brisket with Cole slaw, cheese corn and complimentary cornbread. My customer got the pulled pork. There were six sauces on the table and I liked the vinegary of the best. My brisket was tender and the portion was huge (took some home for the pup, which was much appreciated). I would have got some of the cookies after but since you pay upon ordering, I didn't want to whip out the card twice. Pricing is pretty reasonable ... The brisket plate was$12.99. I've been to the Cherry Hill Whole Hog Cafe a few times and never was very impressed. The ribs were ok, but I didn't like the side dishes, and it seemed overpriced for the quality. Because of this, I was in no rush to try the Medford location when it opened, but passing by on the way home from kayaking in the Pine Barren today, my family and I decided to give it a try since we were a little grungy and looking for somewhere casual to eat. The Medford Whole Hog Cage is much much better than Cherry Hill location. The decor isn't much, but I really enjoyed the food. My wife and I both got the ribs and really liked them. The barbecue sauce selection was very good, especially the Volcano is you like it spicy. For sides, I got the beans and the cheese corn. The beans at the Cherry Hill location weren't good, but they tasted great here. I hadn't tried the cheesy corn before, but really enjoyed it, as did my wife. If you're looking for good barbecue at a nice low key restaurant, I highly recommend it. Even if you've had a bad experience at the Cherry Hill location, give the Medford one a try. read more

Before you even hit the door you can smell the amazing bbq that this place has to offer. Walking in and you have a pretty good choice of select meats that you can choose to get either a la carte or a plate of . This is a sit yourself restaurant where you order at the front and they will bring you your food at the table. Service is great , very fast and super nice. At the table you have 6 different sauces you can choose to put on your meat. I ordered the ribs with a side salad and baked beans with corn bread. First I will say my only complaint is that I did not order more. Ribs were perfect , a little tug but other then that they were great. Warm tender and slathered in some good bbq sauce and I put some more on just to try a different sauce and it was a good idea. Best thing to do with the corn bread as it is fairly dense is to either throw some of the beans on it or try out some of the different sauces on it and you probably won't be sorry. Salad was also fresh , light and comes with a variety of your normal dressings. Overall this place is great and I will definitely make a come back trip here. Good for groups and I also saw they had party packages that you can pickup and get large quantities of many of your favorite foods. Terrible BBQ. Ribs were dry as sticks, brisket was like dry London Broil. No flavor at all, smoked or otherwise. Pulled pork was the only edible meat, but also tasteless. They were inexplicably out of chicken and about another quarter of the menu. Any place that needs BBQ sauce to make their food marginably edible is not real BBQ. Disappointing, to say the least. After a day at the Adventure Aquarium, we ( 3 adults) stopped and picked up takeout. I ordered the small party pack. It included a rack of ribs, 1 lb of pulled pork, 1 lb of brisket, 3 large pieces of cornbread, 6 rolls, sauce and we choose beans, cole slaw, & potato salad as our sides. It normally has 2 lbs of pulled pork but we were allowed to substitute 1 lb of brisket at no extra charge. I prefer my ribs to be "fall off the bone tender" these were not, but they were good. The brisket was a bit tough, it seemed as if had been reheated one too many times. We all loved the pulled pork, nice and tender. The cornbread was great, fresh, not dry at all and had corn kernels throughout, yum! Both the cole slaw and potato salad were good, had a homemade taste to them, the slaw a bit tangy, just as I like it. All in all, it was a good meal, but oh so much food. It stated that it served 5-7 and that seemed to be right as although there were three of us adults, we had plenty of leftovers. If you are a barbecue aficionado, or from the South, you will probably say that nothing ever compares to Memphis or Texas barbecue. Best barbecue in South Jersey bar none. Bare bones atmosphere, but you're going for the ribs, brisket, and pulled pork. Good sides, especially the homemade potato salad. Their corn bread is a serious treat, made in the traditional southern way... It could make a meal in itself. While the BBQ is the best in the area, that corn bread is the best I've had anywhere in the country. A bit pricey but worth it. The Cherry Hill location is just as good. read more

We ordered food last night for our dinner. The website said to use the app, do that's what I did, even setting a time for pick up. On our way to pick up the food, over an hour after I had ordered, they called to cancel, leaving us with no dinner, just as all other restaurants in the area were closing. The guy on the phone asked if I wanted a refund, as if he were doing me a favor. I was in the car with kids and it was quite disheartening to hear I now had no dinner for them. He told me I should've called, despite their website telling me to use the app. Making me feel like I was the reason I had no food to feed my kids and no other restaurant options available to me was bad customer service. The worst. Don't treat customers so rudely when you make a mistake. Oh, and the food isn't that great either. The Medford location is the worst. read more

Great to have more barbecue places coming to the area. Walked in to an organized counter where my order was takin. I ordered the ribs with two sides of meat(extra), sat down and waited for my order, also filled my soda and prepared for the feast. The ribs were nice, tasty and not needing much from the seasoning side. The brisket was also nice, cooked correctly with awesome crust. Pulled pork was good, at times a little dry but the sauces at the table quickly fixed that. Like most bbq places I go either the owner, family member or pit master is out talking about their food. I am a Texasseee girl myself and I found this establishment to be the closest thing in the Yankee occupied north to either of my homes. The brisket isn't as good as what Daddy makes on the church smoker back home- but it's tender and smoky. The pork BBQ and sausage really shines here along with the plethora of sauces. I've been here a few times and always love the food. The ribs are consistently cooked perfectly. My 6 yr old son always does a happy dance when we get take out from here and would eat a whole rack by himself if I let him. That being said, I deducted a star because for the price of a platter, I wish we would have gotten bigger portions of the sides and I wish they offered collard greens. I tried Whole Hog's Medford location when they first opened years ago and was not impressed. I was told that the original location didn't have a smoker, which is weird because it's called Whole Hog and the only way I know to prepare a Whole Hog is by smoking it. Weird but ok. So I was hoping that now that they are in a bigger space and supposedly have a smoker, there would be a vast improvement. WRONG! It's still bad! There can't be a smoker on site. Like I need to see pictures to believe that there is truly a smoker/smoker back there. You would smell it when you pulled up. And if they do, it is not being utilized properly. I tried every meat they had on the menu and almost all the sides. The brisket is dry. The pulled pork and pulled chicken had no flavor. Not smoke flavor nor salt. The smoked sausage was nothing spectacular. Get some sausage and put it on your own grill or smoker. The burnt ends weren't bad actually. But that's because they're fatty. But they are first come first serve. So they aren't always available. The ribs were bleh. The Mac and Cheese and potato salad were HORRIBLE!!! Don't even waste your time. The green beans also weren't too bad. A little firm, but seasoned pretty well. The cornbread comes free, but they can go ahead and keep that. And don't bother with dessert. I don't know who they get their desserts from, but they need to find someone else. The positives...um....the staff is friendly and the restaurant is clean. I love this place with my whole heart - everything is amazing, not just the BBQ. The mac n cheese, potato salad and cornbread make for outstanding sides. At the soda fountain they're equipped to make a nice refreshing ice-cold Arnold Palmer. If I could make one small suggestion though: consider offering packets of honey with your condiments; when I brought home take-out I discovered that drizzled over the cornbread it makes for an out-of-this-world dessert. Awesome BBQ. Food is A+. Medford really needed an awesome BBQ place like this and they delivered. The place style meals are good value and you would never be able to finish it all. They offer catering options as well. My company had them cater a lunch and it was fantastic, we do it monthly for several hundred people and Whole Hog was everyone's favorite we've ever had. The only negative is I wish they had a few more options in terms of menu items. Additionally, a few times we have ordered they have been out of rolls for sandwiches and can only provide meat. DO NOT WORK HERE. i have worked here for 2 years and 9 months with 0 lunch breaks on 10 hour shifts, needing permission to go to the bathroom, as well as not getting my mandatory breaks while i was a minor working 10 hours in one day. And the general manager Chrissy is very unprofessional and immature for her job title. She has made many jokes about my financial situation, my family problems, called most co workers disrespectful names as well as body shaming some of them, talked bad about almost every co worker including the owner behind their backs, and made fun of my wage even though she controls it. She has also called our special needs dishwasher the "R-word" on many occasions. And she picks who she wants to work with when she makes the schedule, so if you are not one of her favorites, you will most likely not get many hours. If multiple people request off on the same day, which we are given the right to, she picks which ones are the least important and forces those people to work that day. She rarely let us talk and laugh, as we are scolded everytime we did so. I have also only received 2 raises, not including minimum wage increasing, in the past almost 3 years i have worked there. Almost every employee is miserable working here and has been on the verge of quitting at one point or another. Overall i give this job a 2/10. read more

Love this place. One of the best BBQ Rib spots on the East Coast ! and the cheesy corn is amazing. Don`t know about the rest of the menu as I only get the ribs. I`v had ribs from all over the country and theirs are some of the best. The only ribs that have been better was this 70yr old black guy off Indrio rd. and Emerson ave in Lakewwod prk Fla. he had a couple pull behind BBQ trailers that he would set up at a beat up corner schoolhouse in the early 90s. No one in America made ribs better then his but this place is a close second..lol read more
