Turns out axe throwing is a skill that requires a bit more than just chucking it at the wall! Though I'm still not quite sure how the magic happens where it sticks, after throwing a few dozen times just about anybody can get the hang of it. We had a group event here, and after a bit of a slow start, it got really fun. There were three different kinds of throwing axres, as well as a saw blade and a metal measuring tool! My personal favorite was the large two handed axe. Its weight and power made it fun to throw and had a satisfying thunk when it hit. The sawblade was also fun to throw and the metal protractor was different but satisfying. It was a bit freaky, throwing axes right near to everybody else but the cages they had around each target were quite effective in stopping some of the missed throws. It still feels like it's crazy to be doing that kind of thing but nobody was injured. They also have a pretty cool dance floor in a live band started up while we were there. Apparently they have square dancing and line dancing. There are also days when families can come in so kids can get in on the throwing action too. Overall, it was a fun and different activity. I've been to Whoop Axe in Lake Forest and tonight I tried the Mission Viejo location. There was a lot of good and I had a lot of fun with my friends. There were a couple things that could have used improving, but mostly my experience was excellent. First thing to mention was that this time I came for the Rage Room. I was really excited and have been wanting to try one for a LONG time. We had a great time, so, first I'd like to highlight what went well... THE POSITIVES *Emma was a great instructor. She gave us the low down, rules, made sure we were safe and had tons of fun! *Just like Lake Forest, this is a giant space and has tons of axe throwing lanes, games and a snack bar. *This location even has a mechanical bull. *HUGE dance floor for line dancing. *Fun and upbeat environment. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: *When we first arrived and checked in, we saw another group go ahead of us, despite having a reserved time for 7pm... *We were not told how long the wait would be and felt like we were just waiting around and not knowing what was happening. *Would like a little more variety of items to break...like cups and plates. *Personally for me, the rage room felt very claustrophobic, it was small, hot with no ventilation. *I did not enjoy the spray paint smell in the rage room - cool idea, but not great for breathing in. One other thing we realized is that you can do the room alone or with up to 4 people. We chose to do a group of 4, but next time I'll do it individually. While in the room as a group, you have 15 minutes total, but still have to go 1 by 1 for safety. The cost is the same per person (no deal for a group), so it makes sense to do it 1 person at a time in my opinion. Overall though, I don't want to discourage anyone from enjoying a fun night at Whoop Axe. I think they're doing a fantastic job and provide a great experience. The staff are all friendly and make sure you are instructed on how to stay safe. If you're looking for a unique experience that you'll never forget, this is the place for sure! read more

I was a little scared to come in here, but it was super cold and they were having country line dancing tonight on Friday, May 16, 2025. What a cool crowd! Great experience! The staff is super friendly! I can't wait to come back here and throw some axes. I feel very safe doing that. Came back tonight and so happening! I came here yesterday 3 hours before a group event and found out that the Mission Viejo location had been CLOSED PERMANENTLY as if January, 2026. Thankfully, we found out that the Lake Forest location was still open so we went there. But some people in our group left and went home because of the situation. If you're thinking about axe throwing or line dancing, go to Lake Forest which is 10 minutes away! read more

Had a good friend come into town for a week and planned somethings to do. Took him to whoop axe and had a great time. One hour went by fast but got in plenty of throws. Helpful, friendly staff. Def something to do if you're looking for guy stuff but I'm sure many girls would enjoy it to. read more

My wife and I had our wedding reception here. I have to say the owners were very accommodating and helpful through the chaotic process of playing. The staff was very professional. We catered the Mexican buffet and it worked prefect and it was very good. Also if you order the Mexican buffet order the cake!!!! It's very good. Such a fun place! Took our crowd of 15 for our son birthday and graduation celebration. Jordan was awesome and very patient while our guests arrived and settled in, then gave an overview of the axe options. He kept checking in on us and other customers while giving pointers. This was the worst experience we've ever had at a local establishment. I've lived in this community since 1999 as an adult and never have I been treated so disrespectfully. We were there less than 10 minutes. During that time we were accused of bringing drinks in our boots( is this a thing??) so we let them search our feet! This was after they accused our daughters of misbehaving because they went to the bathroom together. Ours daughters went to the bathroom and they thought they were drinking or doing drugs in the bathroom. It was so bizarre. It was two daughters and two moms and were there for 8 mins total and they kicked us out because the girls went to the bathroom together. It was a weird and direct target from the girl that checked us in. We didn't even have time to buy a drink or get on the dance floor. Their customer service was atrocious, the girls at the front checking in were beyond rude and entitled. Overall I'd never suggest anyone go here. I am reviewing this location for the rage room experience. I came on a weekend, and they didn't have much for me to break. The guy gave me a free rage room card to come back, but when I came back, it was the same thing. Just small mugs, bottles, or plates to break. There is also a window that lets people see you taking out your anger which is uncomfortable. On my second visit, a family was right outside the window watching me. Can't speak for the axe-throwing. But as a rage room, I think it fails. read more

Fun experience and nice vibe. Appreciated the variety of activities (darts, line dancing, etc) and that they don't serve alcohol due to the safety issue.
