My girlfriend and I shared the Spanish Dynamite and Hot Night rolls, along with a few pieces of salmon sashimi. Both were interesting flavors that we didn't expect. The sashimi was very fresh, too. We got the banana roll desert and it was AMAZING. Sweet, but not too sweet, and the sliced strawberry on the side complimented it nicely. At only $5, it was the perfect size for us to share too. Funny story: My layover in ORD was a couple hours and I thought, How much fun would it be to eat sushi in the airport? Well, that's the extent of the humor, because my phone didn't update for the different time zone and I nearly missed my connection to TOL. He he. Kidding aside, I truly did have two good meals at Wicker Park. The fish was fresh, the service (albeit on the slower side) was courteous, and the price was comparable to non-airport sushi. I was confused on how to order/who to talk to. It took probably fifteen minutes to obtain my rainbow roll. I wasn't impressed by the taste itself, the fish was less fresh that I would like. For airport food, it is okay and will hold your craving for sushi over. Guests seat themselves and it can be a bit difficult to find seating, though we were able to see a couple tables unoccupied. It can be notably tight and limited in space due to people having luggage around the area and tables close together. Orders are taken on a piece of paper to make it easier and more streamlined. I ordered the spicy salmon and the red dragon roll (shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, red tobiko, Japanese cucumber, sesame, spicy mayo). The shrimp tempura from the red dragon roll doesn't have the nice crunch that you'd expect from tempura and the rice is loose. The rolls themselves were not generally well put together. Both the spicy tuna and spicy salmon fish were not very fresh nor high quality. Looking at the fish from the rainbow roll someone else ordered, it appears that people may be better off ordering rolls with other fish. Our server was very attentive and extremely efficient, given how busy it was. He helped put tables together for us when a table opened up so that we could have more space since the three of us were crowded in an area designed for two. He also was prompt in helping us get the check. We spent about 45 minutes there since our flight was delayed and took our time; I'd estimate about 25-30 minutes for folks. While I wouldn't come with high expectations since the quality of fish is not great, it still is a decent location for people looking for sushi or something different from the normal grab and go or bar food that you'll find at the airport, which are what most of the other Terminal 2 options are. read more

The wicker park roll caught my eye as it had shrimp tempura (my favorite) and honey wasabi which I had never heard of. It is a successful fusion roll and you should try it. I also had my usual saba (salmon) nigiri which is my test for all sushi places. It was fresh and sweet. I also ordered the crab leg nigiri and it was perfection! I travel through O'Hare at least twice a month if not more. Until Wicker Park opened there were the Chili's the Wolfgang and your normal airport eating establishments. Nothing memorable to say the least. That all changed with Wicker Park. Because of it's location between terminal one and two it's easy to get to and has a nice view of the arrival gates. The fish is very good and the service if fast and friendly. While there is nothing exotic on the menu it does offer all the staples of a Sushi restaurant. The only reason I give Wicker Park three stars instead of four is that it's pricey. I guess that has something to do with having a captive audience. Other than that I highly recommend Wicker Park for a nice healthy dinner while in the nations busiest airport. read more

Instead of pay $50 for a day pass at the United Club, I instead ended up at this great sushi place nearest my gate. Great selections of wines by the glass and great sushi rolls. I ended up with: - Hot Night Roll - shrimp tempura, tuna sashimi, sriracha - Salmon sushi Just the right amount of food with some entertaining conversation with a fellow traveler who was fresh from a trip to North Dakota and got into a bar brawl. The sushi was marginal and good - depending on what we ordered. My sushi items were - hamachi, hotate, tamago. Two maki sushi rolls - and eel roll and a hawaiian roll. The hamachi was warm??? hotate was mild and sweet, tamago a nice slice, the eel roll very good but small, and the hawaiian roll was very good but a little too sweet for my liking. As someone who was stuck in the airpot for the Polar Vortex/Storm of January 2014 I was happy to redeem my crummy United Airlines food vouchers here. What happened to Wicker Park? I was once a frequent visitor here, but I'm sure this will be my last visit at least for a while. I usually come in early to enjoy the hot soups offered for breakfast. As of late the service and the soup has been lacking. The wait staff acts irritated and put out. The soup is luke warm or flavorless and at worse times both. I forgot to mention the floor and table were filthy as well. Upkeep and pride of service have fallen to the wayside. Very sad and very disappointing for a place I used to have an excellent dining experience at. Good luck to you if you choose to ventura here. I know it sounds a little silly, but I go to the airport early when I fly out for business so I can enjoy the food and drinks at Wicker Park Sushi. First, I cannot believe how good their food is because it's in a ... airport dare, I say it. I won't even drink beverages with ice from a plane or airport, but I'm nearly hauling butt to get to this place. Some of their rolls are just amazing and everything is always fresh. I always like two good drinks just before my flight maybe it's because the bartenders mix them so well or maybe I'm just growing into a lush but there's nothing like a perfectly mixed drink (or two) before a flight. ;) My tip for eating here: Order a glass of wine or a mixed drink and sit around and wait before ordering. Check out the cool dishes other people are reviewing before placing your order. Sushi is very filling because of the rice so if you are like me two rolls is going to be more than enough you might as well order something you've seen on someone else's plate that looks as delicious as it sounds on the menu. We stopped here during our layover and overall I liked the sushi. I ordered California rolls and the person I was with ordered tuna rolls. The California rolls were tasty and fresh and I thought the wasabi tasted better, spicier and unique in a good way. I wanted to order a second California roll but the person I was with was picking up the tab and didn't seem enthused by this.
