I do love that O'Hare has upgraded it's restaurants options over the last few years. The addition of Wicker Park seafood is a nice welcoming addition. You can dine at either the sushi bar counter or some side tables. I have always kind at the sushi bar and found the service friendly and efficient. They seem to be aware that people are in a hurry to catch a flight etc. Tonight was no exception since I had a three hour delay I was not in a hurry. I opted for the Spanish roll, some individual pieces of sushi and the Matcha tiramisu. That item seemed fresh and tasted delicious. It was the first time I ordered desserts and was pleasantly surprised at the tiramisu. I also had a Crunchyroll which was good but I probably wouldn't order in the future since it's such a basic role no matter where you order it. I do find the pricing a little high, and walked out spending close to 50+ dollars with tip. I'm not on an expense account tonight so to spend $50 on an airport meal sometimes is a little disconcerting. I don't think there's anyway around it unless you just order one item, and even that a specialty roll can run you around $17. I only stopped here for the sake. The prices were a bit high for my liking and the sushi didn't look that impressive. I realize the prices are also scaled to the location, which is inside an airport, but still I was planning on grabbing a bite elsewhere anyway. The service was relatively slow, so you had to get everything in that you could when you got the chance. The line to be seated was pretty long too. It made me feel bad taking a seat up just for a drink. I got my hot sake though. This is airport sushi... and not "I need to grab a bite quickly on my way to the gate and I don't care what it tastes like because no airport food is good" sushi. Rather, this is good quality, quick, sit down, I "look forward to it" airport sushi. I'm not sure if I've mentioned travel rituals before. With many frequent travellers there needs to be an on/off switch for the week. Many use food as the trigger to tell themselves that it's time to switch to their home life so they can arrive without stress from the week. Wicker Park has become my "off switch" for Chicago. And, for everyone that sat around me, I could tell it was their off switch too. Not a one of them looked at the menu; they all knew exactly what they wanted and how much time they'd have to reach their flight. The food is good. The ambiance is pleasant. Again, this restaurant is a great place if you are craving some sushi on your way out. I come here every Thursday because that's when my flight is. The restaurant is located between terminals 2 and 1. Service: The service varies every week, depending on the mood of the staff and how packed it is. It is generally packed around 4-6 pm, where you might have to wait 5-10 minutes until you get the attention of a staff that will bring you to your seat. They don't like it if you just go grab some seat at the bar even though its open (I don't know why - it's more efficient, it's an airport!) Knowing what you want to order is a plus, the staff will take your order right away and the food will come out quickly. My tip would be, for travelers who are tight on time, to ask for the check right after you order because it does take a while for them to come back with it Food: I generally order the same few things but had a chance to try the rolls this time. As of now (November, 2016) they took out the hotote from the sashimi/nigiri menu :( 1. Super White Tuna Roll - my most favorite roll out of all, it's a simple white tuna roll with some scallions. The fish is generally fresh every week and it gets me full and it is not too expensive! (9/10) 2. Caterpillar Roll - the roll fell off out of its shape the moment I used my chopsticks to grab them. The chef didn't really take a lot of time making this. The eels were very chewy and barely have meat in it, mostly its skin. I wasn't a fan of this at all (4/10) 3. Ok I am rating this on an AIRPORT sushi place. The fine folks at American cancelled my flight and put me on United which would be fine except I was bored and was trying to kill 5 hours...ooh la la....lunchtime!!!! I must say for an airport establishment it is pretty good... It is better than same old Mickey Ds or Chili's to go, Macaroni Grill or Wolfgang Puck.... I don't love the seating mostly all hi-tops...especially if you are short like me...I hate dangling legs while I eat. The prices are a little bit on the higher end so don't come here if you want to eat on the cheap...my spicy tuna roll of a good size was about $9 and the Spanish dynamite roll was $16. The service is good my waitress was smiles and came back for refills on my drinks often. Good for people watching and passing some time. They do have plug in available to recharge your techie goods...it is located in terminal 2 right before you head into terminal 1. I will be back when I am back to the airport...again this Friday. Let's start this with a disclaimer. This is sushi. In an airport. So, yes, it's more expensive than you'd expect for the quality. That said, if it's 11 am and you're stuck in O'Hare, craving sushi for breakfast, this is a perfectly respectable choice. The food is...Okay. I had the Spanish dynamite because it had the fish types I wanted and it was fairly good. Swimming in sauce for some reason, but perfectly edible. Not overly hot, but spicy enough that you'd want a steady supply of water to go with it. Good thing their service was impeccable, so I got it. Sitting at the bar was nice, even without drinking and the bartender let me use a plug to charge my phone. Which is important to any airport restaurant, frankly. This is a sushi bar in an airport. I didn't expect much but dang. The host sat us and it took a good 10 minutes for someone to even notice that we were there. We had to flag a server down and she said that we weren't her table. Shortly after that, the host came up to us and asked us if we had been helped then got us a server. Once we tried to order, it didn't seem like the server had even read the menu before. We had to point to the item and she copied the bento title down. Had to repeat ourselves about 3 times to tell her we wanted just salmon in the sushi portion and teriyaki sauce on the side for the chicken. (frustrating to say the least) We got our food. Food quality was not bad. The bento we ordered came with miso soup, chicken teriyaki, rice, and 3 pieces of nigiri sushi. The rice they served it with was sushi rice. Awful customer service Friday night. I typically always eat here when I come to the airport but will not be returning. My waitress immediately had an attitude when I asked her do the do to go. After receiving my bill I told her to add my military discount to the order. She waved me off and proceeded to talk to her next customer. The other staff saw this and did nothing. She told me how she couldn't reprint the ticket which was a lie. She eventually did the impossible. Reprinted my ticket and I then paid leaving no tip for my overpriced small Togo sushi poke bowl. Airport sushi...who knew you would kill it with fresh, inventive, and most importantly tasty rolls. Sushi is not a meal you want to be rushed in either preparation or eating. I think it is important to mention that Wicker Park Sushi Bar is not located next to any gates. It is not the type of place you go to, leisurely order food, then demand the bill and food in 30 seconds because you're going to miss your flight. If you want that, go to Chili's (yuck!). WPSSB is designed for long layovers or people that actually have time to eat a meal. I was at the airport 2 hours early because that is when I could get a ride so I enjoyed sitting at the bar and having a friendly and personable waiter not try to cycle me through like a McDonald's drive-thru. I ordered the Philly Roll (tribute to my former residence) and the Spanish Dynamite. Philly Roll was standard but still tasty and pretty good size. But the Spanish Dynamite knocked it out of the airport. Fresh yellow tail and fresh tuna with the dynamite (jalapeno and cilantro) and an amazing ponzu sauce I could have drank out of my plate. The sushi is pricey but A. You're in an airport, everything is, B. your stomach and fellow passengers sitting next to the lavatory will thank you for not eating greasy junk food, and C. Sushi is always expensive if it is fresh and WPSSB is fresh (if you're at the airport early in the AM you probably don't want to eat sushi but you can walk buy and see them prepping the fresh fish). read more

We loved this little spot! All the efficiency of an airport restaurant, but with delicious sushi instead of your standard club sandwich. We ordered a hot sake and Sapporo to split, as well as an edamame. For dinner, we had a Hot Night roll and an eel roll, and everything was wonderful. We had about an hour to kill, and that was just about the perfect amount of time. We were able to sit and watch the planes as they came and went, and our server was cognizant of our schedule and took care to make sure we were taken care of in plenty of time for our flight. OHARE AIRPORT, CHICAGO: I was really hoping the food would be good here. Although I is served artfully, it is just not that good. I tried the Spanish dynamite roll and the Hawaiian roll (see the photos). Both were beautiful, but they were lazily rolled and sort of fell apart as they were picked up, which is a huge mistake with sushi. Worse, they just tasted way less good than they looked. Was passing through this airport, and this sushi restaurant caught my eye, so I decided to eat here, and made a wise choice. I ordered the miso soup and the black dragon roll, and I have to say that the miso soup was phenomenal. I love eel and the black dragon roll really hit the spot. I can't believe I'm writing a review for an airport restaurant, but there's such a chronic lack of decent food at airports which makes this place stand out. When you pass security at terminal 2 just go to your right. I had the seaweed salad and then crunchy california roll (they use a bit of popped rice to make it crunchy, haven't seen that before). Very good, clean and light. What I like about this place most of all is that its quiet and stressless, unlike all the bar food places. A bar seat gives you plenty of space and the service is very relaxed. The concourse is also not that busy. I felt Zen at O'Hare Chicago airport. How about that. read more

Yikes. I ordered a spicy shrimp salad that is listed under the "small plates" section of the menu. It was a bunch of mixed greens with three jumbo shrimp, avocado, ginger and grape tomatoes. Very basic, very underwhelming and not spicy at all. Definitely not worth $23. I asked the bartender where the spice was and he passed me a bottle of Tabasco sauce and siriacha and told me to make my own spice because they don't have a spicy sauce/seasoning. This is false advertisement. I had to prompt the bartender that I ordered a cold sake that I had been waiting awhile for-- It seems like they are understaffed which is understandable, but there are way to beef up service qualities in other ways, if you are lacking in others. Also, if I have to look around to figure out what's going on because nobody asked me, "Do you need anything right now?.. How is your meal?, ect., then we have a problem and so will your tip and future patronage. Writing these reviews really breaks my heart. read more

I fly through O'Hare a lot. To my delight, I ran into this new restaurant on my way to terminal F: a fancy sushi bar with counter style seating smack in the middle of the hallway! Really nice find. I managed to forget I was amidst the teaming hordes scurrying to and fro... The fish was delightfully tasty and very fresh, and although the menu is a little limited, I found a nice sushi combo (plus there's s full sushi bar of possibilities if you're inclined to go free range). The miso was really tasty, and just the right temperature and size. The rice was done nicely, but unremarkable -- I felt no shame dunking in the soy sauce. A Frenchman would call this a faux pas, assuming he speaks as much Japanese as I do. :-). Overall the food gets 3.5-4 stars (3.5 on a restaurant scale, 4 on the airport sushi-meter), but the bill brings home that I'm in an airport. Rats, I feel the hordes closing in. I've now eaten at Wicker Park six times, usually because I've got an insane delay on a United flight, and I'm always pleasantly surprised. My expectations for airport sushi are pretty low; I only go this route if I'm really jonesing for raw fish and consider it a "win" if I can satiate my craving and avoid food poisoning. So using that context, let me say how much I appreciate the folks at Wicker Park. This isn't jaw-dropping, life-changing sushi, but WP consistently delivers fast, efficient service before my connection, and I always leave satisfied. They also have delicious spicy mayo. The rolls are loose and poorly-made, the ingredients are mediocre. The pickled ginger is a faded yellow, like it's been sitting around for some time. It tastes like it was, too. The breakfast rolls with miso soup was a good value, but the spicy Hot Night roll was equal in price. Plus, they brought it out first so the spice killed Amy chance of tasting the mild flavor in the breakfast rolls. The only way the miso soup resembled actual miso soup was that it was cloudy. The coffee was pretty good. Next time I'll go to the Starbucks around the corner. It'll be 1/4 the price and taste better. read more

This place is, hands down, the best place to eat at O'Hare International Airport! They're not cheap, so don't plan to go there if you're on a shoestring budget, but if you like sushi, have a dinner-long layover, and have some cash to spend, go here. They're located on the walk between Terminals 1 (B and C gates) and 2 (E and F gates) right next to the WWII Hellcat that's on display in the airport. I've been here about a dozen times while traveling and every single time the sushi is fresh, the wait staff is professional, courteous, and prompt, the beer is cold, and I leave satisfied. I highly recommend the rainbow roll if you like variety and the spider roll if you like something a little exotic. For us road warriors, it's also helpful to know that they'll let you plug in your phone or laptop into outlets just inside the bar so if you've got a long layover, you can get some food and literally recharge your batteries all at the same time! read more

I was flying through O'Hare airport and stopped at the help desk to ask about what restaurants were available. The nice lady showed me the list and asked me what I was looking for and when I said seafood she asked if I liked sushi. Then while giving directions to the restaurant she said "keep your eyes on the prize" and I'm so glad I did find this place! Had the Spanish Dynamite roll and it was so good I ordered another one! Yelp 31 Day Challenge #2/31 Probably the worst sashimi and miso soup in my life!!! OK maybe I'm a little spoiled I live in Hawaii and get the real good quality stuff here :))) But hey I'm just being honest by giving this place a one star, they would go OUT OF BUSINESS here in Hawaii.. Good place for bland seafood served by disinterested staff at an inflated price - if you can get anyone to bring you a bill. Although I had hoped this would be a really good alternative to typical airport food; instead, it was just a rip off. Have some extra time between flights? Order their side salad (lettuce is not cut up and they don't bring you a fork or knife ), then pour some dressing on it and try to eat it with with ridiculously oversized plastic chopsticks.
