I really enjoyed this place. I came for brunch, because I had seen it recommended on Yelp. My friend got a breakfast sandwich and a homemade cinnamon roll (we split it, it was huge). I got a breakfast sandwich and HAD to try the pancake battered bacon. Wow. Everything was delicious. There was some healthy stuff on the menu too, but save up your calories for the week and splurge on that cinnamon roll. Also they had a bunch of different types of mimosas. The service was good too. We were looking for a spot to take a doggie out for a meal, the patio is great and has heaters throughout. They even have a dedicated pup menu including desserts! The human menu is also great, the pancake coated bacon strips were nothing our family have eaten and they love it. They also have non meat options for me (avocado and beans bowl). I love this place. It was a total suprise in an unassuming strip mall/offiice building kinda way. The service was super-fantastic. Everyone who came by my table checked to see if I needed anything or was willing to help if I asked. The food was delicious and such a great value--even the meals for the dog! Smart way to encourage adding onto the tab but NOT in a greedy, it's totally not worth it kinda way. If the prices remain as fair as they are, I'd order extra for the pets every time I came. Not only is it healthy food for you and your furry friends, it is all reasonably priced. Not many places I can say that about. So an early bottom line: It's a place you should keep in your arsenal of regular never-fail-me-go-to joints. The booze list has some good choices, and during Happy Hour, was an excellent opportunity to try or enjoy beverages that I wouldn't have before. Happy Hour is a great time to check this place out, and you can build a tab that won't kill your paycheck, and at the same time, be encouraged to spend a good amount because everything is reasonably priced and worth each penny. I have been here twice with the intention for going to happy hour. The first time after we sat down, we were told we could not get happy hour prices sitting at our particular table. If we moved to one a short distance away we could get the special prices, so we did. Yesterday, we and some friends met up there and grabbed a table outside since it was a beautiful day. Great new addition to Loudoun county. Our first time here as they just opened back in December 2019. (Before covid) - Food was fantastic and service exceptional. Our waiters Bill and Kyrsta were super friendly and helpful. They did a good job of welcoming newcomers like us and making sure our drinks were always full. Heard about this place from a friend and stopped by for a quick bite to eat and drink on my way home from work to start the holidays...it's just off of Rt 7... The Asian meatball appetizer is definitely a winner. Friendly bar service and reasonably priced, I'll definitely be back to try the full menu but so far it's full marks from me...we're at a 5 out of 5. I'll update after thnext visit. I'm really rooting for this place since it opened just before thIs craziness started and definitely deserves to stay. IMO it's really putting out some great food with big portions and run-by-the-owners service. A couple of notable additions to my previous review... 1. The "special" rotation changes week to week and while I've found the regular menu to be great, the weekly specials have impossible to pass up. Very creative and very tasty. 2. I'm a gin-guy and a traveler as part of my job so believe me when I tell you, it's nice to have something other than the big-four offered as a choice (Bombay Sapphire, Tanquery, Hendricks, rail-Beefeater). They have Botanist here as an option. Take it, you won't regret it. 3. Their soups du jour were batting something like 4 for 4 before the pandemic started. The price was reasonable so we ordered and really enjoyed our chilled seasoned shrimp, roast beef au jus, roasted potatoes with cheese, broccoli, and cobbler. We went a few weeks ago to see what the hype was about. Not knowing that an early lunch on the weekend really equals a brunch, there was a little bit of a wait, regardless of inside or outside. Note that I think you can call ahead to get your name on the list. After we were seated we were greeted by our server who took our drink order while we decided on our food. We ordered wings, a mixed greens salad, and a curry chicken salad sandwich with tots. The food didn't take too long to come out. I was told the chicken salad sandwich was good and didn't contain a strong amount of curry. The tots were nice and crispy and not greasy. The mixed greens salad was pretty big for being a side salad. All the fruit was nice and fresh and overall it didn't need any meat to go along. The wings are where I struggled. A lot of the reviews said they were awesome so our expectations were high. My husband makes great smoked wings so there was that expectation as well. While these had great flavor, we both found them a little chewy. Not raw chewy but more that it wasn't smoked long enough or at the right temperature to have the meat just have a slight tug off the bone. We dined in on a Sunday and immediately felt really rushed when we walked in. They weren't too busy as we were sat right away. It was our first time and the second we sat down we were asked our drink order without even seeing the menu. They came back not even 30 seconds later for our full order. Upon getting the food, it was okay. The ranch tasted off, but still edible. The lemon herb grilled chicken was weird. The first breast had the worst texture where I could barely eat it. luckily the second breast was more of a normal chicken breast. The best part of the meal was the tater tots that came with the breakfast sandwich. It also took awhile to receive my check, even with the obvious signs of all the plates stacked at the end of the table signaling we were finished. We stumbled upon this place when we were heading to another restaurant nearby and thought we should try Wicket Door instead! I'm so glad we did! The servers were awesome, very attentive and helpful! We started off with the cinnamon buns and it was delicious! The bread came out nice and hot with a cream cheese frosting drizzled on top. The curry chicken salad was filling and had alot of chicken, I really enjoyed all the flavors. The sweet corn bisque is a must try! I used to live in this neighborhood and wish that WDP had been here then, a nice alternative for those who prefer avoiding One Loudoun. The smoked chicken wings, loaded tots, cold smoked salmon, shrimp & grits and cauliflower mash were group favorites. The beer selection should offer something for just about everyone, and the ladies loved their Chocolate Raspberry martinis. I loved that there's rhubarb in the dessert menu! The crumble was amazing... At breakfast, my wife couldn't finish her breakfast burrito, so I happily obliged. The house cured bacon is definitely noteworthy. The owner actually came out to say hi during breakfast, and told me about another thing worth mentioning: the bagels are brought in from NYC! I've been wanting to check this place out for a while now. Very happy that we finally got the chance. There isn't a lot of seating indoors but they have a spacious area for outdoor dining. Several people had their dogs with them dining outside. I thought the food was excellent. I had the underhill sandwich. The steak was tender and perfectly cooked. We also got the pancake battered bacon strips. Oh. My. God. Those are little strips of sugary heaven. It's essentially funnel cake with bacon inside. I could eat that by itself and be content. Husband ordered the salmon sandwich. He wasn't thrilled with it, but put some of the garlic ranch on it and liked it. Only reason I am giving this place four instead of five stars is because of the menu and clarity of pricing. The sandwich says it comes with a side. One of the sides listed was a salad so we got that as our side. We ended up getting charged for the salad. We asked the waiter and he said that only some sides were included and some where extra charge. We are ok paying extra for the salad but just make it known to the customer that some sides are extra. One of my worst experiences in a long time. I went to this restaurant for the first time on Saturday, October 10th, with two friends for brunch on the patio. We arrived at 1:00. We had to wait almost an hour for our food after waiting for quite some time to have our order taken. The staff was very nice and apologetic and explained that they had been slammed with orders all at once. (The restaurant was not at capacity due to COVID-19 restrictions. If they couldn't handle the volume that day, I'd hate to see what would happen at full capacity.) Since we had to wait so long for our food we asked if we could have a complimentary drink (not alcohol) but were told no. Wicket Door Pub would apparently rather lose a customer if it means having to give someone a free Diet Coke or cup of coffee to compensate for crappy service. When our food finally arrived, my entree and Friend A's entree were ice cold. Both had apparently sat around waiting for Friend B's pumpkin pancakes, which made no sense since pancakes only take a minute or two to cook on the griddle. Our meals had been sitting for so long and were so old and cold that the sauce in Friend A's entree had congealed and the eggs in my breakfast burrito had turned an ugly dark yellow color, but they still brought that food out and served it to us. Obviously we had to send it back ... and wait some more. Once we all finally got some hot, fresh food it was very good but the experience was ruined. We were there to celebrate my birthday but we didn't stay for dessert. We'd already been there for over two hours and we were afraid we'd get deep vein thrombosis from sitting if we ordered anything else. They knew it was our first visit and did not offer to discount our meal, offer a gift card for a future visit or anything else. They didn't even send the manager to our table to apologize. I recently discovered the Wicket Door Pub and I am so glad I did! I've been a few times for breakfast/brunch and for dinner. Everything has been so good! I love the loaded tater tots appetizer. I also really like the pulled pork sandwich - it beats many local BBQ restaurants in terms of quality and it's even better when it's on sale Sunday nights. Even the pancakes and bacon are really good. All of their dipping sauces and salad dressings taste like they are made from scratch which is really nice. The servers also are very attentive and refill drinks and check in regularly. If I could give more than five stars I would. read more
