The food was massive amounts and delicious. I could not even open my mouth wide enough for a bite. Amazing and fresh ingredients. I love onion rings, so seeing them in the Roy Boy hamburger was all I needed to see to know that would be my selection. I really appreciated that they asked for details about whether I would like the bacon crispy. All of that made it perfect for me. H&H is located in a quiet area with shops and other things going on. It seems like a part of town that might be busier in the evenings. There were quite a few people having lunch. There are a few organizational things that might need tending to, but honestly, it's probably just me. I would have liked to see employees helping with seating. It was a pretty warm day so everyone wanted to sit inside. There were 2 young men sitting at a table for 5-6. If I worked there I would have asked them to move to a 2 top table so the waiting family of 5 could have sat at that table. The family of 5 ultimately pushed 2 small tables together and awkwardly sat there juggling the tight space. The setup of the counter could be better thought out. Again, it all seems to need someone coming in to help manage placement and flow. The decorations are eclectic and don't make a lot of sense. I enjoyed the artwork but could not tell if the paintings were for sale or just to admire. There is a lot going on. None of this will keep us away but I hope they tend to some of this to make it a more inviting and comfortable space.

We split an order of seasoned fries and an icy cold Pepsi. Price was fair and customer service was super homely. Wait time for our food was minimal and they even walked our lunch baskets to us. My wife really enjoyed her western-style "Treasure" burger and I essentially inhaled my double cheeseburger. They were both cooked perfectly, without rush, and very neatky assembled, as if the cooks were prepping it for themselves or for royalty. Definitely recommend this spot and will return. Back to the meal! Eager to quell the obnoxious hunger growls emanating from my stomach, I opted for this small but hopping diner's moneymaker- The Las Vegas Burger Combo. The LV Burger comes w/ lettuce, tomato, onion rings, bacon, mayo and jalapeños- I hungrily devoured it all, save for the peppers I had them withdraw. The fries are of medium thickness- Think of that middle ground between McDonald's cigarette-width fries and the (frankly, fat) steak fries that Red Robin serves. They come perfectly sprinkled w/ seasoning salt, fried to a decadent golden crisp. Pros- Kudos to the young man and woman behind the counter, both of whom visibly cleaning table tops and sweeping floors during (rare) pauses in the more or less steady drum beat of Pomonans who drop in for a meal. LV Burgers serves a battalion of "aguas frescas" to quaff even the fiercest of thirsts- Flavors incl cucumber & lime, strawberry, blueberry, horchata and a roving flavor of the day- Just ask! My sole gripe? The sinking "nickel + dimed" sensation that struck when the staff insisted on collecting an additional $0.87 for a refill of my medium Diet Pepsi. When you're charging $3.49 for a medium (16 ounces) soda that costs the proprietor, oh, around thirty cents- Don't make your dine-in customers feel insulted by charging 'em for (one) refill. In sum, this small restaurant does a lot very well. It may be named for "Sin City" and located in a decidedly working class neighborhood but it punches far above its weight! A fantastic meal at a fair price. Your favorite correspondent spent $17.83, incl tax and a small tip.

On top of that, some managers don't have customer service skills and can be rude in general. To be fair, every manager has their own pros and cons--there are good managers here, but there are also some bad ones in the mix. Also, if you start working here, be aware they might cut your hours (one of the department managers does that a lot). I know some people really need to get out of here, and honestly the best move is to update your resume and start applying elsewhere. It won't be easy, and you'll probably deal with rejections, but it's doable. Keep going until you get an offer. And don't think less of yourself just because you work at McDonald's. So count us among the multiple dozens -perhaps even hundreds- of semi-local residents who were crestfallen when it shuttered, around DEC of 2024. So when my youngest son the 21yr old and I started jonesing last night for the best-in-the-industry honey butter rolls and mashed potatoes w/ gravy, we turned our hungry gazes to the internet...and were pleasantly surprised to see that P-town had another Church's way over on the far East side of the town, nestled on the corner of Holt and Towne. We ordered the Ten Piece Special (legs only), a large tub of their mashed potatoes and gravy and sextet of their signature honey butter biscuits. And because it was my first time deploying Church's app, we were treated to a free 3-piece order of tenders, served with a side biscuit and a duo of jalapeños. The service was, though delayed, otherwise sharply on point! The young lady offered me a free Coke while I waited eight minutes after my arrival. Bravo for her gracious, sweet gesture. She explained that this particular location experienced a lot of canceled orders, therefore they don't start prepping the orders (even those placed online) til the client arrives. My bill, for 13 pieces of fried chicken, 16oz of mashed potatoes/gravy and 7 biscuits was $34.13 incl taxes. Most definitely not the lower prices that Church's usta be famous for! Unexpected benefit of Church's longer wait times? The fried chicken is piping hot, juice geysering outtve each bite while the crackling skin makes for a wondrous textural counterpoint. Pro Tip #1- Order the spicy chicken! It's not too spicy but is vastly more flavorful than the original recipe which is a bit boring from a flavor perspective. Pro Tip #2- Be patient! Even though the website said our order would be ready at 8:05pm, I was told "Five to ten more minutes, please" when I arrived at 8:12. Now I recognize this falls under "First World Problem," but let's just say that my 8-minute wait in the parking lot of the Church's was a visual, um, torrent of the city's seedy, squalid underbelly. My heart hurt for the pair of homeless residents, likely gorked outtve their minds on their drug of choice, pushing their worldly possessions in tired old carts. Catacorner from the venue, you could see streetwalkers arrayed in brightly festooned, tightly fitting trampy garments, plying their bodies with apparent gusto but undoubtedly barren souls, within. When the rain started lightly falling just as I was receiving my order, I remarked to myself, "These are surely the tears of a neighborhood that cries itself to sleep."

I ordered a three chicken taco combo with rice and beans. With a can soda, tax, and a credit card fee, my total bill was about $17. More than I expected to spend, but oh well. The food was ready quickly, served on a cardboard plate that easily weighed 3 lbs. from the weight of the food, which included lime wedges, a bunch of grilled onions, and a whole grilled green chili pepper. The tacos were street taco style and stuffed with delicious chopped grilled chicken, tender yet crispy, and diced onions, cilantro, and fresh avocado slices included (no extra charge). Really good. The refried beans were so good, just the right consistency and flavor, with a little shredded cheese on top. Almost as good as my mom's. The rice was fluffy and plentiful, obviously made fresh. But it could've used a little more flavor. They offer three types of salsa that you serve yourself. I tried the green and the lighter red one. Both good. When I first got my order I didn't think I would be able to eat all of it because it was so much food. But it was really delicious and I was pretty hungry, so I devoured almost all of it (left some rice, the grilled onions, and the roasted chili pepper). I'm about to cook dinner now but I'm still thinking about that lunch I ordered. My dinner won't be as good as that was. Don't be turned off by the looks of the place (weird exterior; dark and unappealing interior). Some might call it a "hole in the wall". But you know, some of the best Mexican food can be found at those places. You can also order to-go if you'd rather not eat there. I think they also have a drive-thru.
