I would love to provide Wien's with a five star drunk-tested rating, but I felt a bit lost when surveying their large sampling menu. First of all, the winery is beautiful! Their store is full of gifts (candles, etc.), wines, and a spectacular wooden bar. The backyard is full of manicured gardens and grapevines. The wine tasting menu at Wien's is packed with multiple vintages of all colors and flavors. Their blends are crisp and not muddled. My main issue with the vineyard was that I felt like I was attempting to master the art of tasting while blindfolded. The bartenders were busy and took little time to explain the origins of the wine. Points for having a real parking lot. Also, staff is friendly and knowledgeable...they'll talk as much or as little as you want them to. I wouldn't have picked this one by choice, but they were the only winery on the Temecula wineries site to have a 2 for 1 tasting coupon that works on weekends, so a normal $10 tasting now becomes $5 if you split with a friend. You get 6 tastings. The white wine list is a little thin here...I believe there are only 4 to choose from. There are about 6 to 8 reds. What was popular for me (and in this order): Dulce Maria, Tempranillo (red), and Solace (white). Even though Dulce was my favorite, I'd think twice before taking a bottle home...might be tiresome of drinking it after a while. If you're down for it, try the cheddar cheese for $0.75, it tastes pretty good. They probably have it at the other wineries too I'm sure. read more

Free Ritz and cheese cubes. A nice Hershey kiss when you taste Port. Chocolate and Port belong together and some places tell you that, but don't give you chocolate. Just lovely. We went up to Temecula just to try out the vineyards. This was one of the places on my list of your a red wine type this is the go to place. Very nice setting where your wine tasting. The resisters are right at the entrance so you pay and then you wine taste. The service was a amazing with a very knowledgeable gentlemen that knows his wine. Very clean winery and not to crowded for the weekend. You get to take your glass home. The only thing that I was disappointment when that obviously when your tasting you get a different taste if they pour it in the same glass. And unless you ask them to clear the wine they poured before they wouldn't do it. So it gives it a different taste and sometimes it's a bad taste... and not much to see outside. Not even to take pictures. But I guess if your going with an older type of crowd very chill then I suggest this place. Small seating area also outside. Overall all good place but small. read more

First of all, I am a BIG cab-lover. I love bold, full-bodied Cabernet with dark fruity/jammy or smoky/oaky finish. After spending a few years up in Napa surrounded by fantastic wineries, I was not able to find a place close to the quality and taste of Napa wineries down here in socal. Couple months ago, my friend who is also a red-drinker recommended me this place. I was finally able to try this place out over Thanksgiving. I did a flight, which is $20 for 5 different wines. After you pay, they give you one glass and a card with 5 empty boxes. You get one box checked off for every tasting except for the reserves which get two boxes checked off. I was able to try their Sang de L'Orange, Primitivo, and one of their reserve Cabernets. Sang de L'Orange - like the name suggests - was an orange-flavored sparking wine. It was light, refreshing, and delicious. Primitivo was not really jammy/fruity but slightly smoky (reminded me of Regucci Winery in Napa). I enjoyed this so much that I got this twice! The reserve Cabernet was not as good as the Primitivo (especially for the price). I would definitely pick Primitivo over that! Wiens Winery is very popular. There were lots of people when I went on Friday afternoon. It was a little crowded inside the tasting room so took my tasting outside. I liked the patio overlooking the wineries. It is definitely not as quiet or private but has great choices of red wines. Definitely recommend this winery for all the red loves out there! read more

I am not a Merlot fan, perhaps because I am too gullible and listened to the subtle put-down of "Sideways", but Wiens have produced a very delicious, full body Merlot. It bursts in the front, continues to entertain through the mid-palette, and has a very nice mid range finish. The Zinfandel and Reserve Zin are still my favorites, but truly, there isn't anything on that menu that is NOT worth your attention. We almost left as we entered through the large back grassy area and patio -- kids running all over, riding scooters, etc. I love kids but not particularly for a relaxing afternoon of wine tasting. Fortunately we walked through, and found a quiet table on the front porch for our picnic lunch and wine tasting. They do not have a restaurant, but a food truck was available. The tasting process has limited customer service -- first you pay for your tastes at the register, then take your coupon to the bar and pick up your tastes. No discussion of the various attributes of the wine etc. Walk back outside to our table, then return back to the inside bar for the next taste. Back and forth -- No customer service. Except for the gentleman at the door who held it open for customers traipsing in and out, and also generally kept an eye on things.....The wines were just OK, but definitely overpriced. Home of the Big Reds! This was our first stop on my anniversary date and it was such a great start. When you enter you pay first grab your wine glasses and basically go with whoever you want. The service was great, our first sommelier didn't provide us with any information on the wine, so we just didn't go back to her. The lady that help us next was a bit more informative, this is why I do tasting because I want to learn about wines grown at the vineyards I visit. I recently joined Wiens because every bottle I was gifted was fantastic! Today was my first day in the members' room and Kevin was fantastic! Although he is my daughter's age, he was like an old friend that you could talk to for hours. It was a busy Saturday but he made sure to come to check on us frequently, my glass was never empty, and went above and beyond in his hospitality... which is rare these days. He's an asset to your business. I would also like to make mention that although I am aware that Wiens has been around awhile (my sister used to serve multiple wine families as a kid at Scarcella's) they still maintain an intimate, friendly atmosphere which is huge for us locals who have been around since the 90s. Rude managers! I was a club member at this winery and cancelled due to a very rude manager Sandy who gave me attitude and was disrespectful over the phone. I was making a reservation for wine tasting with my friends and I was given the wrong information by the employees of what was included on my membership twice and on 2 separate phone calls. A manager called me and apparently left a message to clarify but I never got the message until after speaking with her when she called me a day later. When speaking to her over the phone I asked why they gave me the wrong info (that wine tasting pairing was included free on my membership for up to 4 people). She said well you called the cellar room so my employees thought you were an upgraded member. I told her that I don't know where or which room I am being transfered to so how would I know if that was the cellar room. She also mentioned that she left me a voice mail regarding the reservation and I told her that I haven't checked my voice mail. Her response to me was "IT'S NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK YOUR VM!!!" I felt so upset for the way her tone and attitude was towards me and so I told her I didn't appreciates the way she talked to me and that as a customer/ club member, I should never be treated that way and it makes me feel unvalued and therefore would like to cancel my membership. Without hearing me say anything else, she said ok your membership is cancelled as of now and she hung up on me. I have never been treated in such a way by a business place now anyone that I know. This is no way to treat a customer and specially a club member. I will refuse to go to this winery again and to be honest after the first time and you've signed up to be a member the service was slow and it took 10mins to ger a different wine to taste each time. read more

This was my favorite winery from our day of tasting featuring fruit forward, nicely balanced reds and creative and delicious red blends. I told the Spenser my palette and let him select the 6 wines for the tasting and his choices and wine knowledge were amazing. I usually taste in Santa Barbara and Paso Robles - but Spenser made me a believer in this winery. If you are looking for big reds in Temecula, I strongly suggest you give them a taste. read more

This tasting room was fully staffed, so we had ample time to taste and chat with our hostess Ramona. She was informative and friendly and patient as we visited with other people in the tasting room.
