    #1 BBQ mix plate.

Was craving some Hawaiian BBQ, so I decided to hit Wikiwiki. I ordered the BBQ combo plate which comes with Mac salad, rice, short ribs, chicken, and beef. All of the meat was well seasoned and the portion size was decent. The cashier was friendly and attentive. If you're looking for solid HI BBQ in this area of Berkeley you're in luck.

BBQ Mix Plate - 2 Rice 1 Macaroni Salad

Stopped by Wikiwiki Hawaiian BBQ with a friend for lunch. There was hardly any people in the late afternoon, and the employees, despite being on their lunch break, made our orders quickly. I was feeling hungry, so I ordered the BBQ Mix Plate, with 2 scoops of rice and 1 scoop of macaroni salad. I thought the price was great, as they were very generous with the portions; I ended up taking half of it home for dinner and still felt full. I loved the macaroni salad, the rice-to-meat ratio was great -- just that the beef short ribs was way too chewy. It was flavorful and marinated properly, but I was just unable to get it apart and off the bone, especially with just the flimsy plastic utensils that they gave us. Not totally unrelated - the restaurant doesn't look too well-maintained, and while that usually isn't an issue for me, the floors were evidently dirty with crumbs and lettuce leaves littered about by other customers. Their plastic cups had dust (?) in them and friend didn't feel too comfortable drinking water from their soda machine - water had a strange color and taste to it, so her only other option was to buy a plastic bottle of water on their menu for $1.50. Not a huge deal, but definitely not a positive in terms of experience, so I'll likely only make my return if I'm particularly missing their macaroni salad.

I love Wikiwiki! The cabbage, rice and macaroni salad go perfectly with my Hawaiian bbq chicken! I was introduced to this place when I first hit the Bay Area! Great service! Comfortable atmosphere! Delicious Hawaiian fruit juices! Walking distance on Shattuck Ave

Ordered take out and it was great Hawaiian food. The portions were large and the food tasted good. We got the mixed bbq plate. The Mac salad was very flavorful and the teriyaki chicken was so juicy. We also ordered a side of chicken katsu which was nice and crispy.

I've ordered chicken katsu my whole life and I've never had one where the katsu strips were this thin. The chicken katsu was extremely thin and had barely any meat on it. Every single strip was like this. You are basically paying for breadcrumbs.

I can't decide which I enjoy more; Chicken Katsu with 2 mac-1 rice or Short Rib with 2 mac-1 rice. I will say that they are consistent and fresh everytime I order...

We entered a few minutes before peak dinner times, so there were seats to choose and sit from. By the time we left, mostly all the seats were filled up, so I would suggest coming in early. I liked the naming for each of the ramen dishes, some I recognized the names from Hawai'i. For this round, we ordered 3 different types of ramen: the Kuni, Broke da Mouth, and the Miso Hungry. These orders also came around the same time. A notable elements I liked about the ramen was that the noodles were chewy and springy, and the broth was smooth and easy to drink. I also didn't have the urge to drink lots of water either, so the seasoning was perfect. The other element was that I got to enjoy the ramen's broth and noodles as the stars of the dish, and the proteins, like the pork were supporting roles. For me, what I enjoy ramen are the broth and noodles, so I'm happy that these are prominent in the dish, rather than me having other chow down a thick slab of pork. This restaurant hit the right marks for what a delicious ramen is for me, so I'll come back, and maybe try their other broths.

One type of food which takes me back to the Summer is Hawaiian food. There are many good places to grab Hawaiian food. One particular Hawaiian dish is one of which a few places make good which is Loco Moco. I say not all Loco Moco are the same. Some places that serve Loco Moco are more Moco ( means booger in Spanish) making me Loco( means crazy in Spanish). There is a place in Berkeley I like to get good Moco Loco at and it's called Moku Hawaiian. On a September Summer stroll I landed in Berkeley for some Hawaiian food. Inside the decor which caught my eye was on the wall with artwork of Kaws. The walls were also covered with surf boards. There were a few tables inside. There was a line up to order using a digital kiosk. I had ordered the Loco Moco. It came with a well seasoned Mac salad and the beef of loco Moco was so tender and the sauce was tasty. The egg within the loco moco made the dish stand out more with the different combinations of flavor. I am excited to try it again. I washed it down with some Hawaiian Sun Luau Punch which was not too sweet and packed a punch. Overall a great value. They have delicious food worth "buying"they give you a lot of food which is worthy of "trying"and the flavor is tasty and there is no "denying"located in Berkeley off of Telegraph and it's called "Moku Hawaiian" Come in here don't be playing with your food like a toddler especially splattering the moco loco "sauce" have some table manners just "because" it's not cool being selfish just do it for a social media "floss" stop being performative and just be authentic and enjoy the Moku Hawaiian food with art on the wall by "Kaws"

Actually mustard might be a helpful condiment to offer to address the blandness of the food here. I'm not saying it's bad here because it clearly satisfies the student populace who obviously need sustenance to make it through their midterms and finals. For me as someone many years from my undergrad days, however, my point of reference relates to the plate lunches I could find on Oahu. Using that point of comparison, I suggested to Jamie W that we give it a try during one of our weekend Berkeley walks. Jamie ordered the $14.99 BBQ Chicken & Beef Combo Meal. It was a hefty portion suitable for a growing post-adolescent. The meal came with the requisite two scoops of rice, one scoop of macaroni salad, and steamed cabbage underneath the meat (Photo 5). He pronounced it middling when it came to flavor satisfaction. I went for the $13.99 Hawaiian BBQ Beef Bowl. It came with the same sides, and the satisfaction level was comparable (Photo 6). Listen, if I was young and running late to my study group, I'd be so in. There are two dipping sauces, a plum based katsu sauce, and a soy sauce hybrid. The katsu sauce has a little bit of heat, but mild enough that my SO whom normally does not eat any spicy, can handle it. Which ever combo or item you pick, it's outstanding. Because the items have a lot of food, I usually skip the appetizers. So for either lunch or dinner, you have two meals out of any items. Service is great, I usually order on the phone and pick it up, but ordering in person or online is fast, staff is great and friendly. the decor is simple and the place is very clean. Casual and relaxed vibe feeling like an island escape. Water was promptly provided and was kept refilled throughout our visit. We tried 4 cocktails. Solid painkiller and variety of drinks and flavors but my absolute favorite was the "Cucu Lada" this was essentially a piña colada with cucumber. Really refreshing and nicely prepared with crushed ice. We also tried the crab rangoons. These came out ultra fast but were not hot, seems like they prep them ahead of time. The dips were awesome though, we loved the spicy mustard that they were served with. Never had that before with rangoons. Our service was great for the most part up until the end when we were trying to leave it seemed difficult to flag our server down so we could close out and leave. Overall it was fun and if back in the area I'd gladly return for another Cucu lada and maybe try some dinner menu items. Tried this spot because of the good reviews. But if you have been to Hawaii, I can't recommend this…read morespot because the flavors did not remind me of Hawaii at all. Also, nothing is served with mac salad... The prices are pretty decent for SF. Maybe that's why this place is popular. They are takeout only and have one bench outside for you to eat at if it's free. Tried the garlic shrimp, the moco loco (idk why they swap the words), and the furikake chicken. Also had a spam musubi (when I ordered online for pick up, I couldn't add egg which is usually an option according to the Toast website). The garlic shrimp was missing a flavor that Hawaii has in their garlic shrimp. The color was very red but it was not spicy. They do have an option to make it spicy though. It was bland to me compared to what I'm used to when I visit Hawaii. The moco loco gravy was good, but the beef patty tasted dry and overcooked. They did have a runny egg too but it was oddly underneath the patties, so we broke the eggs while trying to split the beef amongst 3 people. The furikake chicken is probably better if you eat it right away since it's lightly breaded. We took it home so by the time we ate it, it was soggy. The sauce it is cooked in is a little sweet and wasn't too bad. The soggy chicken ruined the texture for me though. Each dish was served with a little bit of cabbage which I liked to get a little greens in the meals. The spam musubi didn't taste like it had any sauce, and they used so much furikake underneath the spam, that it made it taste fishy. Would not recommend. I can't comment on the service much since I ordered online for pickup. The guy who handed me my food after asking my name was nice and polite though. The only reason I'd come back is to try to the shave ice. The group in front of me got 3 for their kids, and it looked tasty. I would not come back for the food, but at least the prices aren't bad for SF standards.
