Not sure what this location was prior, but they have a big commercial Espresso machine that doesn't look like it's been used recently and what looked like a pizza oven in the corner next to the grill area. I went for the Mixed BBQ Plate (short ribs, bbq beef, bbq chicken, $8.25) and 2 Spam Musubi ($2.15 each. Special 2 for $3.59). The workers were super friendly to me and got my order quickly. Parking might be the only concern since there's never really that much in downtown Berkeley anyways. It's cheap, portions are moderate, and it just fills that Hawaiian craving. I got the double cheeseburger combo with a side of the macaroni salad. The macaroni salad was $1.50 and hot damn was there was a lot. They served on top of a bowl cap and the salad covered the entire cap. Overall the cheeseburger + Belgium style fries was delish. Before I ordered the seafood plate and everything in there was great too! The fish was moist and tender. The BBQ chicken had that authentic Hawaiian sauce on it and was not dry at all. There's meter parking out in front but it's severely limited because it is shared with the surrounding businesses. There's plenty of seating here, plus, you can see them make your food as well. Don't expect a gourmet meal, but more of a casual mom and pop style experience and BAM you're going to love this place too. I was recommended this place for Hawaiian BBQ foods, and haven't gotten a chance to try until rather recently. Things that I have tried here: - BBQ mixed plate - BBQ Short Ribs Plate - Spam Musubi The BBQ Mixed Plate was the first entree that I tried here, and it was a great introduction to all the meat options that Wiki Wiki offered. In each order, one gets chicken, teriyaki steak, and short ribs, along with two mounds of rice and a mount of macaroni salad. The BBQ Short Ribs plate was also the same concept, except only had short ribs instead of all three meats. While the macaroni salad was not my favorite cup of tea, the rest of the plates were quite delicious. The short ribs pulled off the bone quite nicely, the teriyaki steak was nice and tender, and the chicken was quite flavorful. I can definitely see myself coming back here for a cheat meal now and then. The Spam Musubi was a bit lacking, I think; while the flavor was there, the ratio of spam to rice was a bit low, which personally, was a bit disappointing to me. This is my most favorite place to eat. I have tried other Hawaiian BBQ places before, and I have to say that in my opinion this is the best. I used to eat indoors prior to Covid and really miss sitting inside to enjoy my food. They always give a generous portion which makes me full for the rest of the day. The prices to me seem very well priced and enjoy that they have the window to order your food to go. It would be nice if they would have outdoor seating, but I am totally fine with waiting to get home to eat my food. I usually prefer the chicken deluxe plate and it always makes me happy when I am eating it. I think it's great for college students and there is a large variety of condiments (Tabasco, Sriracha, soy sauce, Teriyaki sauce, ketchup... the list goes on). This place is cheap, tasty, and filling. On a college budget, your only other comparable option is probably McDonald's. They have a combo deal in which you pick two of the following four for $3.75: burger, fries, spam musubi, and/or a drink. I usually get the hamburger and fries combo. The burger is not all that big to be honest, but the fries really make the difference between full and unsatisfied. All their menu items are pretty great too. I think a mini size is decently filling. They give you a scoop of rice and a scoop of macaroni salad along with your choice of meat. The size above it is almost too much to finish. It is probably one of the best bang for your buck deals on west side if not all of downtown Berkeley. Definitely worthy of frequenting if you live close by. read more

Time for another Hawaiian BBQ fix. Like I've mentioned in another Hawaiian joint, there aren't that many Island food options in the East Bay area. That means, when I find a joint, I'm not going to pass it by. This place was no different. It originally came up on my Eat24 app when looking for a place to chow for dinner. After doing some research, I realized this place was only 15 minutes away from my house, so I decided to just take the drive up and check the area out. Rolling up to this joint, you'll notice the neon sign of the restaurant with a pineapple like creature. The inside is pretty big, full of table seating. The walls are bright yellow and the menu is mounted super big on the side of the ordering station. Everything seems pretty clean and inviting for mealtime. Speaking of, here's what I ordered: Regular sized Chicken Katsu for $8.25. WOW, talk about huge portions! They literally included three breaded chicken fillets cut up. The breading is panko bread crumbs and super crispy. This plate was also served with two scoops of white rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. Everything was flavored nicely and lots of food meant happy bellies! This place gave such a great impression, I KNOW I'll be back again soon. Good prices for decent food for starving college students. I love chicken katsu, so I like eating it here once in a while... but not all the time. They give you a lot of rice and crispy chicken katsu (not too soft/soggy and not too hard), and the maracroni salad on the side tastes good so you fsho get your money's worth... but I feel disgusting after I finish. I guess, other than the large servings, my lack of self-control is partly to blame for eating everything in the box. The food here is actually really good - as far as Hawaiian BBQ goes, this is my family's favorite place. Their short ribs are good and their macaroni salad is the best. The reason for the low stars is because my family all got food here last week (each their own plate) and my brother and I both had the loco moco (ground beef patties with egg and gravy). Both of us got sick overnight and experienced food poisoning for the next few days. Everyone else in my family (8 people) were fine but the two of us. First time this has happened here. I will still come back since the food has always been so good and this could have been a fluke but my brother in law I don't think will be returning. read more

I believe I have ordered the Kalua Pork mini meal and Spam Masubi twice and it was fairly good. The mini meal is not mini, IMO, - my sis disagrees. They have other kind of masubis with chicken, chicken katsu and more. I love macaroni salad and theirs was pretty good. For one masubi ($2.15) and the mini meal at $5.75, PLUS a $.50 charge for the total being under $10. It came out to be $9.17. I'm sure we'll go here again to get food for the office.
