However, my encounters with employees have been very hit or miss. Maybe because I'm a young woman, they often assume I know nothing about fish. During my most recent trip, the employee helping me was very condescending. While lecturing me about things I already know, he also gave me several pieces of misinformation about basic fish care. I should have corrected him, but I felt uncomfortable and just wanted to get my fish and go. After this interaction, I decided to get my next fish from an online retailer. Disappointed because I would rather shop local, but I don't want to deal with these kinds of interactions anymore or buy from a store with misinformed employees.

From the moment I walked in the front door, I could tell the place was locally operated and the employees were listening to my concerns. It started with my ailing cat, Benny, who badly needed a clean, protein heavy wet food diet. After a short consultation, I brought home a slew of canned stuff, some of which he liked, most of which he didn't. On the walk back to the store, the cans got a little wet with olive oil, totally random, I know, but it happened. The owner kindly issued a refund. That's when I started buying everything from them. Benny's long gone, but my dogs get a monthly grooming, nail trimming and tooth cleaning here. They have a self-serve dog bath in the back, and a decent selection of non-dog/cat supplies as well. But what you'll notice is the personable and kind customer service, especially in the grooming area, where they'll remember your name, and whoever you bring in.

I happened to glance at this shop while waiting for my dog to get her nails clipped next door so my son and I visited. I'm so glad we did! My son was bedazzled with all of the wild bird equipment and seed. He is three. One of the owners took him by the hand and showed him around the store. She was so patient with him and gave him a lesson in feeding birds, attracting birds, and bird baths. We had recently bought a house in the Montgomery and Juan Tabo area and summer was approaching, so I was interested in getting a bird feeder and seed (especially after the kind greeting we got.) She gave me a lesson in bird seed (she was SO knowledgeable!) She helped me pick out a bird feeder that came with a small bird book so my son could decipher the birds that came. She also suggested their blend called "Enchantment Mix No Mess." She even gave us some S hooks for free and a sample of different seed. We set up his bird feeder a few weeks later next to our bird bath in our front courtyard. We patiently waited for about a month watching for birds. Toward the beginning of June, we started getting the most beautiful red finches. Now one of our favorite summer activities is to watch for "our red finches." What a great place this is and such knowledgeable owners! These beautiful birds are going crazy for this seed, and people need to know about this shop. Cheers!

Our Maggie girl hadn't had her nails trimmed before and the gentleman walked us through the whole process and was so sweet with Maggie. She did great! After that we used the self service wash station. They walked us through exactly how to use it and made sure we had everything we needed! After the bath we got Maggie some treats and a new toy. The prices were really good! $10 for a nail trim and the toy we picked up would have cost twice what they were asking at any other pet store. I'll start by saying this offering is incredibly admirable. The clinic is adorable and doesn't require reservations. I stopped by with my 2 pups and the experience was pretty stressful and long. I waited for ~1.5 hours outside in the summer and it wasn't comfortable. During the wait there was a dog that joined the wait whom was pretty aggressively barking- which set off heaps of dogs. But again I want to reiterate that they are doing great things with having this clinics & with it being open, of course it's to be expected that there will be a long wait and a few potentially uncomfortable situations. Today was my 2nd time heading in & it was to try the self dog wash area. It was my first time trying this VS heading to the groomers & the experience was great! There grooming products provided worked well & both the cleaning/drying stations were clean and safe. I called day of to see if an appt was available and they squeezed me in. Today happened to also be another shot clinic & this one looked a lot more enjoyable. Folks were allowed to wait inside and no dogs seemed to be barking at one another. So I'd say it's worth trying out & if the line is around the building/it's stressful; try to attend a different day. I'll be back to clean my pups on a regular basis!

The grooming dept. gets one star only because it was required…read more 169.00 dollars later she was shaved to the skin in some places. Shaved her top knot off, her muzzle and her tail. Very ragged groom too. How can you not have an even shave? Long pieces on her ears, tail and back legs. Said she was matted. She was not matted she was dirty. I was a dog bather and know what it takes for a good groom. She didn't even smell like she had a bath. Her tail and ears will take 6 months to a year to grow back.
