Excellent pho! Super fresh with lots of flavor. The shu mai were also fresh and delicious. I had ginger tea that was made with pieces of ginger and was sweet and spicy. We finished with halo halo which I was told means mix mix. It was made with shaved ice, fresh coconut, sweet beans, ice cream and a bunch of other unusual bits of goodness. My kids loved it and it tasted just like what I used to get in Philadelphia at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant. My #1 guilty pleasure is having a big bowl of pho when I have the house to myself for an evening. I ordered takeout of pho bo with well done flank, brisket, and rare top round. I shopped at the asian market in the same plaza while my food was being prepared, which is a wonderful stop. This is a great place. $10 for beef pho was a great price, and the food is delicious. The beef pho was amazing. The portions of beef, noodles, sprouts, etc in the pho were generous, and the broth was so good. The sweet potato fries were great. The only downsides were the service wait time and the tv in the dining room, so settle in or go on non-peak hours. They were busy, so they must be doing something right! read more

We order take out here weekly and the food is amazing. However their customer service is terrible. Anytime we call to place an order we're always put on hold, I understand they're busy, and servers always short with us. Recently came by and was told a 15-20 minute wait. Called to let them know I was here and was rudely told by the girl who answered "well it's only been 19 minutes so it's not going to be ready yet. You'll need to wait longer." I wasn't expecting them to rush it out just because I said I was here but I didn't appreciate that attitude. I ended up waiting 30mins ironically. We've waited before outside the door 10minutes, servers seeing us through the window but not coming to check our temp to let us in and with it being cold outside. I think they just have too many young people here who do not care. We will continue to come here for the food but if we order take out and they continue to be rude we will not be tipping on to go orders in the future. read more

I had the veggie spring rolls which were tasty and the chicken vermicelli. The vermicelli was good but was not the same flavor as at the many other places I've had it at before, it was spicier than usual and the chicken didn't have that good chargrilled crispness. For the only Vietnamese place around they do a decent job but I've definitely had much better in bigger cities. Best Pho hands down that I've ever had. I love Pho, moved from DC to Houston and then Houston to Arden! I would've given five stars for my carry out except that my appetizer was left out of my bag and having a few containers having ordered Pho Tai I didn't realize it was missing until I'd gotten home already and changed and was in the relaxing phase of not going back there for steamed dumplings. I do give them the benefit of the doubt that it was accidentally packaged up without them realizing it was missing. But at 6.95 it's a loss,... so I cannot comment on anything other than the Pho. Pho was immensely flavorful bone broth. I loved it! I do wish that there was an option for extra meat or extra noodles for an upcharge which my old pho place would offer because sometimes you need more meat or noodles. I do hope they'll offer that in the future. Because ultimately I end up with more broth left over for the next day without anything to put in it unless I cook rice noodles myself. Best thing is since I've had the Pho and its to die for excellent I cannot really order anything else; I'm ruined! I would've tried more if I'd not have enjoyed their Pho so much! So good; food is awesome. Attention to detail on my order; not good. I will return; but maybe will just order main dish and not anything extra. LGBTQ Discrimination Post: We love Vietnamese food. I had waited for almost 2 months go eat at the Wild Ginger Restaurant on Hendersonville Rd. My partner and I recently relocated from the West Coast to West Asheville. It's been a good experience. Slight obvious homophobia here and there, but in general W. Asheville is well balanced and accepting of Mixed Races, LGBTQ people, different looking people, artists, musicians, etc.. However, today ad Wild Ginger, the host and our waiter, literally laughed at us. Probably clear that we're a gay couple, no major signs from anything other than we are artists and musicians and it's probably clear that we're a gay couple, we don't hide it. Certainly not here. But the Host, a slight, small, medium colored skin, possibly Asian waiter, with spiked black hair, 'welcoming' us when we went in the door, once we turned around, he laughed and pointed. Then when he thought I saw him, when I turned around, he went stoic. We turned around and walked towards our table and then I turned around again. The guy had literally walked towards the kitchen and turned and looked at the kitchen staff, most f which had not yet recognized or seen his mockery and he laughed with open mouth and nodded towards us. Then he turned around, saw me see this attempt to mock us and I stared directly in his eyes. He went stoic again. We sat down and waiting for him, hoping he was our waiter so we could ask him what he was laughing at. He came to our table and said almost nothing and I asked him, "Is Wild Ginger on Yelp?" He said nothing. One sure thing I"ve learned from old waiting table days, don't eat at a place that mocks you or doesn't want you there. Shame on this business for either owning or hiring employees that are this unaware of how awful this is. We only have the story that can have impact for people and/or restaurants to change. Let alone that this type of mockery is discrimination, a form of its own. We will tell Asheville about this experience. It's really all we have, each other, to support and NOT support those businesses that discriminate in ANY form, no matter who you are: Black, White, Gay, Straight, Mothers, Children, other religions or citizens of other countries. They were very busy which is always a good sign! My lady and I didn't wait long for a seat. The egg rolls are fantastic and well priced 3 for 4$. We both had the PHO I had the B2 which is med rare beef and she had the chicken. Bith had great depth in the broths and the meats were very tender. We have dined at Wild Ginger several times now as we live here in Asheville. The food there is totally amazing. Our last meal was the Bulgogi burgers. Better have lots of napkins, because these are juicy and have awesome flavor. Their chicken wing appetizer was a savory sweet heat with amazing herb spices. My waitress, Dorothy, never came to refill my water. I have worked in a restaurant before and I understand how stressful it can be. However, it does not take but a few seconds to look over at a customers table to refill water. I think this place has lots of potential however the waiters need to be more attentive to their customers tables. This place I would say have decent pho. It is not the best I have ever had but still good. I came on a Sunday around 6:20 pm. They were very busy with only 2 waiters. My waiter seated us, a group of 6, and took our drinks. I'll start off by saying I did go on a busy day, so I do give them the benefit of the doubt. I ordered my food and I didn't receive my drink until 5 minutes after my food. I ordered the pork chops and it wasn't even fully cooked. I'm not sure who is cooking the food anymore because it wasn't this bad last time I came. The fish sauce is horrendous they must've changed the recipe to cater to a more American style. Having traveled Asia extensively I can't believe how authentic this food is! There are a million restaurants now selling Pho but not like this. Each bowl is hand crafted and taste so Fresh I really appreciate the detail. My other go to is the Miso Salmon cooked to perfection and plated with amazing Rice and Vegetables so delicious. Whenever I've journeyed over to the new chef Eilene's Wild Ginger, the food quality, environment, and service have all been top notch. I've not eaten Pho in any Asian country or many other cities, but I'd say hers at Wild Ginger is certainly some maximum deliciousness!!! WOW. This place is AMAZING. What a great find. Authentic Vietnamese with a blend of flavors in each dish. I ordered the vermicelli salad with grilled chicken. This is a simple dish, but somehow the chef made it special from roasted peanuts in sesame oil to fried shallots, dashes of lemongrass and fresh herbs. The attention to detail was impressive. I have eaten this dish many places and never had it this good. The grilled chicken was delicious on par with roasted pork. Even the spring roll was a cut above average crisp fresh chock full of flavor. The portions were huge and reasonably priced. I have eaten at many Vietnamese restaurants from California to New York and I would have to say this is one of the best. After having their salad I have already made plans to come back with my boyfriend this weekend. I can't wait to share this place with my brother and his wife who is Vietnamese. The wait staff was incredibly attentive and friendly and the owner made a point of speaking to me as I left. Keep in mind, this was a Monday night and the place was completely full. We started off with ordering the chicken wings for an appetizer. Although the ginger/chili/lime glaze wasn't bad, ordering the wings was a big mistake. The menu reports that an order of wings consists of 6 wings. Upon ordering, we were alerted that an order of wings is now only 5, as they now use 'jumbo chicken'. The 5 wings arrived, and there was absolutely nothing jumbo about them. Moreover, they were dry, fatty, and mediocre at best. As for the quantity, it was clear that we merely received 5 wings instead of 6 because that is all that was left in the back of the restaurant. Next. Each of us in our party of three ordered a variation of pho. I ordered a small chicken pho, my boyfriend ordered a large house beef pho specialty, and his mother ordered a large 'seafood' pho. The sizing was a joke. My small was essentially the same size as the large, just in a differently shaped bowl. The seafood pho included no seafood; just faux scallops that were spongey and flavorless. The chicken pho wasn't bad; but the broth was so flavorless that I had to douse it with chili paste. The biggest disappointment in the pho department was by far my boyfriend's house beef specialty. The specialty was said to include three different types of beef, and tripe. He ordered his with out tripe. Sure enough. the pho was riddled with tripe. The service was a complete joke. We were never offered silverware, were given no refills on our water, and were not asked, even one time, how our food was. read more
