We deemed this place a C+. Happy to discover it in the neighborhood. Probably would try it AGAIN, but if the food was C+ at that time, we might not come again. CONS - Pretty slow-ish service (22 minute wait for avocado toast and a burger) and they have signage to reflect their attitude ("We're NOT fast food.") The food wasn't exactly thoughtfully prepared or special, but it did take a long time to come. PROS - Nice shaded outdoor dining. Slightly cramped? - Went at 10am on a Sunday. No wait! Love that! - Avocado Toast (3.7) NICE poached egg. Lots of well-ripened avocado. Underseasoned. Overpriced. But isn't that the joke about avocado toast? (Open challenge: serve me an avocado toast worth $14.) - BBQ Burger & Fries (3.5) NOT a totally fair rating, I substituted the "impossible patty" for the standard beef patty, and declined the bacon. That's tying their hands behind their backs. Obviously that's not the "bbq burger" MAGIC, but also it took a lot of extra bbq sauce to get this burger back to interesting. This is a tough one to grade on, but if a restaurant's attitude to veggie patty is, "you're probably not accustomed to getting a great burger," or "you ordered a veggie patty, if the burger's weak, that's on you," I deem that a missed opportunity. Fries seemed like frozen bag basic, not terrible but undercooked and undersalted. I'd come back here. I'd order something else. read more

Super cute cafe! They have a lot of outdoor sitting with cute decorations and flowers. Parking lot is small but there seems to be a lot of arresting parking as well. I ordered a pastry and their rainbow latte. It was good, but also just tasted like any regular good latte, but loved the latte art on it! read more

Hidden gem. Felt like we were out of LA and someplace in the woods. Cute cafe for breakfast and lunch. Outdoor seating is very relaxing and beautiful. Big trees all around. It was in my bookmarks for a while and finally got a chance to try it out. My ten year old liked it a lot saying mom feels like we are in Big Bear let's make this our secret breakfast place. The service was friendly and quick. Plenty of breakfast and lunch options to choose from. They also serve colorful cappuccino/lates. So pretty. The breakfast burrito was ok, not the best I had. Lacked flavor, it was dry and falling apart after every bite. The waffles were good and the fresh strawberries on top very sweet . I have to come back again and try more items to have a better idea of the food quality and taste here. Overall a cute place to go to , away from the busy city. The ambiance was very pleasant! The food was good too and the location is really great--the whole area is a patio. The one thing I would note is that the wait may be a little longer if they're busy and it may be difficult to find seating because it was so packed when we went. Would recommend! read more

Yesterday I went to get breakfast at Wild Oak Cafe. I ordered a breakfast plate.That would be eggs, hashbrown,sausage,toast and a coffee.The food was to go.The cashier that took my order was a male.Im assuming his name is Jeremy. That name is on my receipt from my order.When my food was ready Jeremy did not put my food in a bag.He handed me the plate of food in my hand.He did not give me a bag for my food and did not give me a fork or napkins.That was unprofessional. How am I supposed eat my food with out a fork. I think Jeremy should give people a bag for their food if their food is to go and he should give people a fork and napkins.I'll be honest the food was good but Jeremy's service wasn't professional. read more

Popular place for brunch. A la carte menu. My go to meal is the turkey bacon burrito and fruit waffle. The salsa helps the burrito. The fruit waffle has great crunch and good variety of strawberries and berries. It was freezing outside so it helped that the heaters were on. Look forward to trying other items on the menu on next visit. read more

Ambience 5/5 Coffee 4/5 Food 0/5 Great place to go for a tasty cup of coffee at a beautiful place, but their food is overpriced and not good! Do not order the soft shell crab sandwhich! It was so gross, as it was super sweet rather than savory. Honestly, I hope their other food items are better, but I just couldn't justify paying $15 for just a breakfast burrito. Go for coffee and a chance to get outside the house, but avoid the food. read more

Cute aesthetic location. Service is odd, you stand in line to order first and then they choose a table for you, the process takes a while, if you're really hungry I wouldn't recommend this place always has a long line. Food was pretty good but expensive, $15 avocado toast could've had a bit more sauce and flavor but the poached eggs were a great touch. Stuffed French toast was DELICIOUS the marmalade and cream cheese filling made a surprisingly wonderful pairing w the strawberry French toast. Ultra sugary though we definitely crashed after this meal! read more

I love coming here. The food does take a while to get to your table but you're outdoors so that makes it better. The cashier was very nice and attentive and the rainbow latte is almost too cute to drink. Their digital latte machine is broken but you can still order the rainbow latte art. read more

The area is open, friendly and easy to deal with. The food was delicious, and all three of us were happy with our choice. The service there was fine, polite and friendly, and not a long wait. I was impressed with most everything about it. It is also a bit of an adventure compared to most small breakfast/brunch places, nothing but the great outdoors, and that alone was a treat! My GF and my son brought me here for Mother's Day today. Was a beautiful cafe amongst trees and birdsongs. We ordered the stuffed French toast, and the avocado toast with poached eggs. I had a drip coffee and my GF had an almond milk latte, both Peet's coffee, both delicious! Order food first, sit anywhere you like, and they bring your food and drink to your table. Servers were prompt and kind, and they brought all the ladies with children in the restaurant a pink rose! It was a lovely morning. We arrived at 9am no wait on Mother's Day. They have self serve water on the patio, so if you bicycle by, I recommend grabbing some free ice water and use of the easy access Bathroom . I highly recommend this place! read more

I'm sorry, i really wish i loved this place like i wished to! The vibe is super cute and all but the food is honestly ehhh. Whatever I've tried has felt kind of unseasoned and flavorless? I used to order from here all the time but at this point I will not be ordering again. Every single time I order food from here something is wrong. I order delivery and it's frustrating when the food is not correct because I cannot go back to the cafe and try and fix it. For some reason, the salsa smelled and tasted like it was rotten. When I spoke to the restaurant, the person on the other end said " the chefs would like to know what would you like to do?" that's not how you handle customer service the proper way. Loved his gem in the middle of a gorgeous mountain road. Old gestation turned into a retro hip restaurant: genius! I loved the flowers decorations outside. Inside they wave the front of a VW face that just adds another level of coolness to this place. We ordered iced vanilla latte, their avocado toast with fried egg, the crunchy French toast and a side of fries. They had this giant drink dispenser next to the register with this pink drink. We asked if we could try it and the workers was nice enough to give us samples. It was rose water. absolutely delicious! We went outside and grabbed a table and not long after our food and drinks were out. My sister also decided last minute that she wants fresh OJ since she saw the machine inside. The worker was nice enough to grab her card charge it and come out with the fresh OJ for her. I so appreciate when servers go out of their way to accommodate their customers. At last we dug in and wow! The French toast with the orange peel jan in between was heavenly. And the avocado toast was extremely tasty. Also loved the coffee. It wasn't too sweet which is how we like it. It's safe to say we will definitely be back, soon! read more

Beautiful cafe & Love their outdoor vibe! Their food looked amazing and so hard to pick one! Its a must try their rainbow latte! Inside is strong coffee but the top is perfect sweet taste with chocolate around it! Very limited parking lots but plenty to park on street. The waiter was kind enough to ask me what flavors I wanted in my rainbow drink. Surprisingly, I got the Nutella flavored Rainbow drink! It was really good. The cozy vibe here provides a nice atmosphere. The Latte has a woody taste. You should definitely come visit this place. It's a really nice place to hang out at. read more

This is the second time I have gone to Wild Oak Cafe and I have to say overall it's an okay place. I have to say that their breakfast food is better than their lunch food. I had their fried chicken sandwich and the chicken lacked flavor. I also got their rainbow latte, which was good. In my opinion this place is super cute and located in a place with a nice view it definitely makes you feel like you are somewhere else. Overall I'd say you should try it for yourself it's definitely a cute trendy place with average food. read more

We had asked the staff to clean the table we were seated at that still had the previous party's plates and trash. Someone came to move the plates, however, didn't wipe down the table. Another staff came later to drop off a drink, and after asking if she could wipe down the table she gave attitude saying she didn't know what we were asking, implying she didn't want to wipe down the table to begin with. To my family and my surprise she proceeded to spray a cleaner bottle while our drinks were within range. We really wanted to like this place since most of the staff was great, but one in particular most likely Armenian descent female with brown hair in a braided ponytail ruined the experience after spraying our drinks! Wish we had tipped after the service, but unfortunately already had at the register. So we basically paid to get disrespected. 8/11/24 @ 12:11pm // UPDATE // After expressing my concerns about the poor service I experienced, the owner Susanna personally reached out and handled the situation with professionalism and care. They not only apologized for the inconvenience but also offered a full refund, which I greatly appreciated. This gesture demonstrated their commitment to customer satisfaction, and I'm willing to give the restaurant another try. read more

This is a hidden gem in the neighborhood. I would never have known it existed but somehow managed to find it on Yelp while looking for cafes close to me! All I can say is that it's so good that I went twice in one week! My friends that grew up here say that it used to be an old gas station! It's located on Chevy Chase near the country club. It honestly reminds me of Coldwater Canyon in Beverly Hills. It's calming, beautiful and serene. Anyways I got the chicken bowl the first time I went along with a rainbow latte and it was amazing! The chicken isn't just grilled chicken, it's Marsala chicken which has a really yummy marinade. The second time I went I got the avocado toast with an iced latte, which was amazing as well! The staff is nice and attentive and they have plenty of outdoor seating. They have their own lot with limited parking as well as street parking! Definitely stop by if you're in the area! read more

Feel in love with this hidden gem... if you're going down Chevy chase rd slow down because you might miss it.. The staff are all kind, polite and efficient. Super friendly vibes. Finally I get to check this out from my bucketlist. Came here on Saturday brunch. I'm shock it's not busy, no line and not crowded. Since they reopen the restaurants for outdoor seatings. Food: Breakfast burrito was good but there's not slot of meat. There's sausage, bacon, egg and hash browns. I barely taste the bacon and I only had couple of sausage. Avocado toast with poached eggs : there arugula, tomatoes, aioli. I didn't taste the aioli. It's $15 for one toast, I think it's really expensive. Not worth getting it. Nothing special. Stuffed French toast: whipped cram and strawberries on top. There's orange marmalade inside. This is $15 and it's worth trying it. Also, it's huge. Chicken bowl: the hummus is the highlight of this dish. Without the hummus it's taste okay. This bowl is really small. Overall plating is small, not meant for sharing and its over price. Costumer service is great. The guy that helped me is so nice and very helpful. read more

Super light on the sweetness overall, hardly any honey or agave in their matcha drink. There were neighborhood parking too, but it was far easier to park closer to the streets than in neighborhood street parking due to many tow away signs and private parking signs. I am open to revisiting although the drinks I ordered were not home runs. I felt there were more coffee or matcha drinks to try and their menu intrigued me.

Okay, now the coffee, which is what my rating is based on. The latte was a small step up from Starbucks and had an odd taste that I couldn't quite place. My wife couldn't finish hers. The drip coffee was barely above lukewarm and just didn't taste good. Again, it was hard to put my finger on exactly what was wrong with it, but it didn't taste particularly fresh. I noticed the bag of beans on the counter was roasted on 6/30 and marked down on clearance. Anyway, it's probably a perfectly fine place if you're not obsessed with excellent black coffee or high-quality espresso drinks. The space is large, there's lots of outdoor seating, and the staff is nice. I just wish I'd known going in that the coffee wasn't very good, so I'm writing this review for the other people out there who are equally insufferable about their coffee.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at White Oak café, which I must say was one of the dirtiest cafés I have ever come across. Despite being enticed by the alluring coffee photos on Instagram, my family and I decided to venture into this unfamiliar café with hopes of establishing it as our regular breakfast spot. Our visit took place on a weekday between 2 to 3 o'clock. Upon arrival, we found that all the outdoor tables were occupied, leaving only one large table unoccupied. It seemed that a sizable group had vacated this table some time ago. Normally, if there had been an alternative café nearby, we would have promptly left. However, due to the lack of options, we found ourselves compelled to stay. Unfortunately, our initial impression of the café was marred by a series of unpleasant encounters. Despite standing around and patiently waiting, it appeared that the waitstaff and café employees were determined to overlook our presence. It was only after I personally approached an employee that we were able to secure a table. To our dismay, the table provided for us was merely a portion of the previously uncleaned large table. The staff hastily cleared away dirty dishes, but I couldn't confirm whether the table was properly wiped. To my dismay, as soon as I rested my elbows on the table's surface, they slipped due to its greasy texture. Moreover, my husband inadvertently got a piece of jam stuck to him from the table. The overall environment around the table was deplorable, with chairs strewn with debris, napkins, and disposable cutlery scattered across the floor. Given this disheartening start, I found myself deeply disinclined to dine in such unsanitary conditions. This led me to contemplate the state of their kitchen, considering the state of the dining area. In the end, we opted for a chicken sandwich and two coffees. Regrettably, our food arrived in an equally disappointing manner. The waiter delivered our order, placed it on the table, and promptly departed. Despite my request, we were left without any forks , which prompted me to venture towards the kitchen area in search of forks and ketchup for our french freis . The set of spices I took for next table because we dont have any. Astonishingly, the ketchup bottle was grimy and slippery, likely due to the residual grease and the touch of previous diners who had enjoyed fried potatoes. In light of this unsatisfactory encounter, we decided to leave the café without having eaten anything. While the coffee did possess an aesthetically pleasing foam, perfect for an Instagram photo, its taste was far from satisfactory. If you possess a high tolerance for unhygienic conditions and find discomfort easy to overlook, then perhaps White Oak might be a suitable place for your meals. As an individual who rarely pens reviews, especially negative ones, I feel compelled to break this habit due to the appalling experience I underwent. Having spent numerous years in the restaurant industry myself, I understand the challenges it entails. Nonetheless, this particular instance left me with no choice but to voice my concerns. The Wild Oak Café sits in the a safe space in the city of Glendale, and it's genuinely one of the most beautiful cafés I've visited thus far. The scenery is stunning especially this piano painting I couldn't even imagine was possible which was illustrated by @DeeBeeWhimzy_Designs. The surrounding greenery gives the space a vibrant, open, and airy atmosphere, truly full of life ｡The people around are authentic, kindhearted and hardworking, genuinely mindful of what they're putting into their bodies. There's so much passion behind the food they craft Their poached egg was honestly one of the most delicious I've ever had, sitting atop a fresh avocado salad, accompanied by a spicy mayo that paired perfectly with the toast. I was completely obsessed. I'll admit I forgot to snap a photo of their iconic rainbow latte . So I had to return a second time just to capture it! Looking for a good brunch spot, I came across this place with the beautiful rainbow lattes and had to try it. My fiance and I got the stuffed french toast, breakfast burrito, and rainbow latte during our visit. Overall everything was pretty good! I enjoyed the orange marmalade that was added to the french toast and the fresh strawberries on top. The breakfast burrito was juicy and they had a fabulous salsa to go with it. The rainbow latte was gorgeous but tasted like a normal latte - it's more to visually enjoy and get your Instagram picture. The food was good, but the price ($50 for two people, including tip) was a bit high. You order your food at the counter inside and then you have the option of taking it to go or eating on the patio. The patio was a bit on the crowded side, even on a Monday morning, and you choose your own seat rather than being told where to sit. YUM!! This place is Fantastic. I've only been twice, but the staff is so nice and friendly. They serve breakfast and lunch and have a small case to buy a few grocery items for people that live around the area in the hills. Looks like it could of been a gas station at one time. Outside they have cute chairs and tables to eat at with heaters if it's chilly. You order at the counter. The Chicken sandwich with avocado is great and I hear a popular item. Homemade potato chips and pickled red onions come with it. All very tasty! Tried the breakfast croissant with eggs and bacon and it was delicious! Will definitely be back to try more of their items. Honestly, I rarely leave negative reviews, but the service we experienced was extremely disappointing. This location has outdoor seating only, and when we arrived, there was trash all over the floors, which gave a terrible first impression. Several tables, including ours, had not been cleaned. I had to ask multiple times (four times) for our table to be cleaned, yet staff chose to clean an empty table instead of the one we were seated at. There were at least five uncleaned tables upon our arrival, which made the entire space feel disorganized and poorly managed. This experience reflected a lack of attention to customers and basic service standards. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I will not be returning. read more

I ordered from here via door dash. I was really looking forward to the vegetarian burrito. I was super sad. If you enjoy spice, to the extent that you can't taste the tofu or potatoes, then this will totally work for you. I stopped eating after 1/2....about an hour ago, and my mouth is still burning and my tongue is swollen..... Hey folks, just cause I like tofu and it can be a bit bland, does not mean it has to be drowned in hot sauce. Tomato basil? What tomato basil? The stuffed French toast was close to burnt too. Like so many have already mentioned, this spot is the definition of a hidden gem. The location is beautiful, tons of greenery to gaze at while you eat. The food is fantastic, it looked just like the picture lol. It was a bit pricey but worth the splurge and the portions are really generous. The staff is also really friendly and helpful. I'd like to thank Cynthia in particular. She was very kind and when I mentioned it was my first time here she made me feel very welcomed and was really patient with all my questions. An amazing find. We went here for the first time. The menu includes breakfast/brunch items as well as salads and sandwiches which are freshly prepared. Heard great things about Wild Oak Cafe and had to try it. Apparently, the Turkey Bacon Avocado Sandwich is very popular. Flavorful, moist turkey and the perfect amount of bacon and avocado on fresh ciabatta bread. I had a side of fresh homemade chips, but everything my friends ordered looked and tasted great. We'll be back on the weekend to try brunch, or maybe more lunch. Lovely place with great service and generally great food with generous helpings. read more

Hey there! Just wanted to share my thoughts on this place I've been to a couple of times. The food here is really good and it comes out pretty fast too. The flavors are just perfect, can't complain at all. But what I absolutely love about this place is the ambience. It's so unique that it makes you feel like you're somewhere else, even before you arrive. Old gas stationed converted into a café is brilliant and definitely needed in this covid-era. Outdoor seating and table arrange of what used to be gas pumps with a nice shade. Very tasty and tender ribeye sandwich. Stuffed French toast was nice. A nice place to get away from the city street scene. They also got a decent delicious chicken and waffles, I was amazed but to me roscoe's still reigns supreme. It doesn't look like much but it tasted soooo very good! Hot food was served cold, service was slow though it was not very busy. The skirt steak was very tough and unexpected from a place with good reviews. Our order was not done as requested and though they did offer to re-do it, by the time it is served everything else gets even colder. We were hoping to find a new "go to place" that specializes in breakfast and lunch. A real shame. It is a quaint place if you want to go for coffee. Its obviously the owners aint involved, and doesn't care.
