Had some family visiting from out of town and wanted to try something new. Came here as a second choice after finding out the first restaurant we wanted was unexpectedly closed around the corner. All five of us ordered, 4 dishes came out relatively quick. Husband told us to go ahead and eat. Waited forever for his fish and chips, was told it would be right out. Server came back twice to verify what he ordered (so pretty sure she forgot to put it in the first time) we were already done with our food before his even came out. Finally made it to Wild Oak. We decided to dine in their nicely decorated dining room since it was a windy day out on their deck. We decided on the French Dip sandwich that a friend recommended. Here are my notes: French Dip: - The thinly sliced beef was tender and the grilled onions were tasty. A little more meat would make this a star dish. - French fries were crisp and very tasty! Wine - Great wine list including Morgan Pinot Noir and Rombaur Zin. - The wine glasses were a little dirty and didn't even match. I'm not trying to be a wine snob but c'mon man!?! - The good news was that our waiter Kim promptly replaced my wine serving with a new glass and fresh pour. Soup - Whoops, no soup!?! Came in on a busy Sunday, service was great, upon arriving was greeted right away and was seated at a decent amount of time even though it was a busy afternoon for them. Love the restaurant inside, loved the vibe it's giving. Drinks and food were delicious. My favorite was the shrimp scampi, pasta and shrimp were cooked to perfection. The truffle fries are a must! My daughter got the Morgan hill burrito and it was delicious as well, love how they put French Fries in it. Will definitely be going back and trying other things. I was with three other people for dinner and gave this place a try for the first time, since it is the new place in town. We were excited to visit but not when we left. Get a better cook. Maybe the experience would be better at lunch time? What was good about our time? My Perrier was good and the waiter remembered to include lime slices--but left out the ice in the glass LoL. And our conversation with our friends was great--until the music was turned up so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. What was sub-par? My fish and chips were way substandard--low quality fish--small, flat pieces, with thick batter and very little fish inside, and was hard fried. I could have bought my own battered fish at Cost-Co and had a better experience. The 'chips' were ok--there just weren't very many for the price of the meal. My wife ordered salmon with veges and rice pilaf. The salmon was ok, but the veges weren't--they were poorly cooked, partly burned black on one side and hard enough that she left most of them. Service was substandard--maybe they were under staffed. The waiter for our table took our order but never came back to check to see how our food was or find out if we needed drink refills. No-one else did either. When it was time for us to leave my wife asked another waiter for a container for one of our companions to take food with her--a steak that wasn't well cooked. After waiting, she asked again; and after waiting for another five minutes, she got up, spoke to a third waiter, and was handed a to-go container to bring back to the table herself. Suggestion: get cooks who know how to cook veges well, train the wait staff on how to serve customers well, and hire a quality control manager. read more

The only bright spot was the sweet waitress who kept apologizing for the lack of knowledgable bar service for a bar not properly stocked, unusually long wait times for all service, a gray overdone hamburger ordered pink and so much more. We recently came here to celebrate a family member's birthday dinner and unfortunately left very disappointed with both the food and the service. Several people in our group ordered burgers and all commented that they were extremely dry and lacked flavor. The hanger steak was probably the best item we tried, but it would have been nice to have more sauce options besides chimichurri. The mashed potatoes were bland, and the jalapeño cornbread appetizer also lacked flavor. On top of that, the service was very slow despite the restaurant not being busy at the time. I dined in yesterday for the first time. We started with the mozzarella sticks. My partner ordered the steak salad and I ordered the flatbread and a Greek salad. (I added chicken). The mozzarella sticks were flavorless along with the marinara sauce. The flatbread was also very bland. My partner's steak and the chicken in my salad totally lacked flavor. The Greek salad had two pieces of cucumber and two or three olives and the rest was lettuce with some onions. The service was good. (There were only three other tables with diners). I will be fair for trying a FEW SELECTIONS at Wild Oak in Morgan Hill. I'll be specific about this New Grill oriented operation. We arrived there just past noon on a warm Saturday and the outside area was almost full but opted for indoors seating and fortunately we selected our table. The gentleman host was a bit one minded and we sat waiting for our menu for 10 minutes. There was ample time for him to bring it to us but Lea, a young efficient and observant waitress showed prompt service and apologized and thanked us for our patience. I tested their calamari appetizer and was disappointed and felt it came out of a box of small cut portions but loaded with batter crumbles cooked I can assume via air fryer over a limp bed of greens, not overtly oily and what appeared to be deep fried zucchini. The fish and chips were cooked properly since they were thawed well to be served. Malt vinegar, tartar and catsup for fries were averaged but acceptable for a quick order establishment. I enjoyed the slaw . My wife had the steak sandwich and was disappointed since it lack flavor or any memorable sensation to her palate. All in all we'll try one more time for a higher value meal to be fair. The establishment must step up their short order presentation. The door by the bar was a cluttered safety issue walkway waiting for a tipsy customer to blow out a window. Service from the kitchen was spot on . I'm surprised they had no sausage, link or linguisa type of sandwich for a grill oriented establishment. Morgan Hill needs a grill specific type offering. read more

We had the most wonderful experience at Wild Oak tonight. We were able to get a spot outside on the Patio after a last minute decision to grab dinner there. Our waitress was one of the best we had ever had in Morgan Hill. Christine was in tune with exactly what we needed, getting our drink order right away and staying on top of everything we needed. I'm not sure how they managed to mess up nachos but they did. They used flavorless queso instead of real cheese. (Who does that?), jalapeños out of a jar and left the steak completely unseasoned. They forgot the tzatziki sauce on our gyro and when requested they brought us sour cream. The bun on my burger was great but the patty itself was obviously a frozen patty from the freezer section. Completely flavorless and mushy. Drinks were wildly overpriced, especially for lacking any flavor beyond the alcohol. Fries were also poorly done. No crispy exterior with a soft inside, just mush all the way through. Do not waste your money here. read more
