We got seated outside and immediately got the bread with garlic and olive oil. It was delicious! We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and the portion was decent. The sauces were both spicy which we loved! If you're not a spicy person, may not enjoy them. The calamari had an even ratio of rings and tentacles. The breading was light and the calamari tasted delicious and fresh. I decided to go with the Fettuccine al Pescatore and I was blown away by everything about this dish. The pasta was delicious and a very generous portion. The sauce was amazing with a spicy kick. The seafood was a generous amount and tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. As I was enjoying this meal, I looked to my husband and said "this is one of the best meals I've ever had!" My husband got the ribeye steak and it was over cooked. He didn't enjoy it and complained quite a bit as he ate it. I told him to send it back but he just ate it. It took a while to get the server to come back to give us the check. We had to chase him inside the restaurant to pay. Ambiance is very laid back. Small indoor seating space but felt stuffy. Outside seating space with heaters. Outdoor seating was nice especially with nice weather. Saw a lot of locals coming to the spot. I will be coming back to enjoy another delicious meal.

I'm glad we did because the place filled up quickly. Cafe Dolce Vita is a classy Italian restaurant with authentic Italian cuisine. There is some street parking, but it fills up fast. There is a parking lot a few block up on the same street that has more availability as well as behind the restaurant building. The inside is very modern with a lovely bar with 3 screen TV's. Right now, they only serve wine and beer. They have a really cool old fashioned espresso machine, that is more for decor. There is a modern one behind the bar for espresso's, cappuccino's and cafe lattes. The building is long and narrow. So there is quite a bit of seating that goes all the way to the back of the restaurant. Our waitress was very attentive and kind. We were brought a bottle of cold water for our table and fresh bread and garlic infused olive oil to dip the bread in. It was very good. Since it was an our first time we decided to try several dishes that we would share. We started with the Antipasto plate. This plate had a combination of fresh mozzarella, cold cuts, olives, roasted bell peppers, artichokes, eggplant and zucchini. It was a huge plate full of deliciousness. We had to stop ourselves from eating it all, so we would have room for everything else. They kindly wrapped up what was left for us to take home. We then ordered the rest of our meal. We ordered the Pappardelle di Napoli, Pollo Marsala and the Short Rib Tortelloni. Our entrees arrived quickly and they were all amazing. The Pappardelle di Napoli had large shrimp and baby shrimp with fresh tomatoes and spinach in a white wine sauce. It was so delicious. The pasta is made in house and was cooked perfectly. The Pollo Marsala was so moist and had a wonderful flavor from the Marsala wine. The mushrooms absorbed the sauce and made the dish more flavorful. It was served with a side of vegetables. The short rib Tortelloni was on their daily specials menu. The tortelloni were generously stuffed with short rib meat, in a white wine sauce with bacon and tomato. That was my husband's favorite dish, tonight. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu and the Spumoni Bomba. Both were very good. I would say my favorite was the Spumoni Bomba and my husband loved both desserts equally. Service was excellent here. The owner, Aldo, came to our table to see how we liked our food. He was so hospitable and friendly. He is from Napoli and I could tell that he has a passion for food and making sure his customers are enjoying themselves. We had a wonderful experience and we look forward to coming back to try other menu items.

I called the day before and made a reservation, but it turned out to be unnecessary because the restaurant was pretty empty. The interior is beautiful with white table cloths and brick walls. We were seated in the window and it was fun to people watch while we ate. I enjoyed the small, hot loaf of bread they brought us after we sat down and the garlic olive oil dip. For lunch I ordered the lobster ravioli, which I have mixed feelings about. I knew it would be rich, but it was REALLY rich and the taste of butter (I think) was overwhelming. My mom had a beet salad with grilled prawns and candied walnuts. She loved it. One of the reasons was because it was so different from anything she'd had before. The restaurant got busier as time went on and a few more couples were seated for lunch. I understand they get very busy for dinner and you really do need a reservation. There is street parking and parking in a lot in the back.

Everything in my life changed. I never used to eat at McDonalds, but after I got out of the hospital, I eat there a lot (it's all I can afford - if that) and I'm always trying to pay attention to the McD points so I can get more food. That being said, going to Chama is either because of some miraculous unplanned result, or deliberately saving money for the better part of a year. The worst result of my new life with these injuries is I can't take care of M as much as I'd like. We did take M to Chama for her birthday a couple years ago and she has always been wanting to go back every day since then. Recently, she requested to choose where we would have dinner, and in addition she said we couldn't change her mind. We weren't even sure until we arrived that she had chosen Chama (so that implies Chama is her favorite restaurant - even though she's been to a lot of nice places including in Monterey and on the ocean side). We could only afford to get just M a meal and Grace was really nervous that us being on a really obvious budget and being out of place would cause the staff to be upset or impatient with us. Actually, the staff was super nice and accommodating to M, and to all of us. That could only happen because the Chama staff and Terry our waitress treated us like family. If you put me at the McD ordering kiosk, I'm pretty good at navigating my way through ordering and making sure I use up my points before they expire. But we were lost as to how ordering worked at Chama, and I couldn't remember anything I learned from the last couple times before when I was there. Terry was really patient explaining how to order, and helped M choose a meal option / buffet that was perfect for her. All three times I've been there the staff has been great. Recently was M's second time and we appreciated that the staff would be so kind to a child. There's something special and permanent about a child's memory eating at their favorite restaurant in the world. We appreciate that Chama staff and Terry made the effort to make that dinner magical and inviting. We have a really good memory now of a family together having that amazing experience. I like M had an unusual opportunity to plan our evening and restaurant choice, she did make the plans, and she had such a memorable shared adventure and outcome. Thank you!
