It's truly more like soup with noodles (at least the way our tables was prepared) we were so full that we couldn't try dessert but they had a lovely array of desserts to choose from. First Visit, and I really want to give 5 stars but just can't. But: for all the other restaurants I've reviewed in Reno and said "your service sucks" here's a restaurant you should emulate. Service (Justin) was awesome. Never left me hanging; but also wasn't constantly in my business either. Perfect service on a pretty busy Sunday night. Food was awesome. I had the seared scallops appetizer and it was tasty....but...$27 for 3 little bitty scallops? C'mon man. I mean, it tasted good, but not $27 good. For my main I had the pacific dorado (mahi-mahi) and again, it was really really good. I have no complaints about it. Very tasty and very well prepared. The only other negative was the dessert menu. Pretty sparse selection wise. So I passed on dessert. All in all, an excellent meal with excellent service. A bit pricey for the app, and a bit of a let-down with the dessert menu. I was attracted to the Grille by the amount of folks waiting to have dinner at the Grille on a Sunday evening. Alone and not wanting to wait for a table, I found a seat at the bar for dinner. Staff was friendly and offered good suggestions. My experience with trout is minimal, but I found it to be very delicious and a good portion. White wine and bourbon were my choice of drinks that night. I did not try any cocktails; however, the bartender, Abigail, was mixing a host of drinks that looked wonderful. It was amazing how many drinks she put together in the nearly 2 hours I was there. She was the hardest, non stop, working young person I have seen in a long time and another patron at the bar commented the same. Hope she is well appreciated and compensated. Nice place to have a classy dinner along the Truckee river in Reno. Knowledgeable and friendly staff and excellent service. Tried the French onion soup, pork belly, and the Dorado. All dishes were solid, even the pork belly, which is typically hit or miss for me, as I don't care for fatty foods. But this pork belly was nicely rendered and seared and was more lean, which I appreciated. Good flavor profile and nice portion size. The French onion soup was spectacular. Very classic with lots of cheese and well cooked down onions in a flavorful beef broth. The bread, while a little mushy, still had a bit of chew to it. The Dorado was also quite good. Nice size for the money and perfectly cooked. The couscous was a nice accompaniment as were the green beans. I would definitely return to try one of their steaks. read more

We came here on a Saturday night to celebrate our anniversary. I made reservations the night before, it had me do it on OpenTable.com. We arrived at the restaurant to see it be at full capacity with the social distance between tables being enforced. Our hostess and waiter were wearing masks and there were hand sanitizers everywhere. Our table and menus had been freshly wiped down. We were immediately brought 2 glasses of water and greeted by our waiter. Thanks to the Yelp check in, we got a free appetizer! We ordered the pork belly and cocktails to start off with. I ordered their Ribeye steak with some shrimp scampi. He ordered the soup of the day and the duck breast. The food was phenomenal. The entrees took about 10-15 minutes to get to us, but we were immediately brought our pork belly appetizer and the soup of the day. We finished dinner off with some creme brûlée, it had a single strawberry on top cut to look like a rose. The food and service were great and all the tables were spaced out with more than 6 feet in between and they had their outdoor seating available as well. I would definitely come back! read more

My friends and I came here for dinner yesterday. And to be quite honest, I was disappointed with the food. We got the sausage trio, way too salty.. then I got the Chicken Frances, chicken had no flavor, it was somewhat burnt, Brussels sprouts had no flavor either. I took 3 bites and couldn't eat it anymore. My friend got the Shrimp Pasta and she said it was way too spicy and she couldn't handle it at all. Let me start by saying I never leave reviews, I actually downloaded yelp for the first time ever specifically to write this review. My mother is in town visiting me and we decided to get food here, the atmosphere was amazing! Extremely friendly and outgoing servers, the two people playing music were very nice aswell; I have been to a few restaurants with live music and in most cases, I feel as though the performers can be a little stuck up and don't wish to interact with the audience at all. Not here though! Which is amazing to see because they were wishing people happy birthday, chatting with customers in between songs and if able, saying bye to guests. Returning to the actual food it was amazing quality, fresh ingredients, great portions and the server will even box up your food for you when you're done, after we mentioned getting boxes for our food he took them over boxed them up and had them ready to go asap. I'd also like to mention our server was very on top of drink refills checking in to see if we needed anything else without making us feel uncomfortable. I only have amazing things to say about this restaurant I will for sure be returning there sometime in the future. read more

Update time! 6/4/19 We came back for lunch on a gorgeous Spring day. We sat outside (of course) and enjoyed the ample shade while getting a breath of fresh air and enjoying the river view. We decided to try a couple glasses of white wine and split a small meal. I had the Seaglass Pinot Grigio, a nearly translucent crisp summer wine with a nice clean finish. The shrimp po boy was calling to us and boy did it deliver! The shrimp was crusted perfectly in cornmeal, giving a nice texture contrast to the fresh tomato and soft roll. Their fries are thin cut, crispy, and very well seasoned. A perfect meal to enjoy outside as the weather gets delicious! read more

I have been here about seven times now since coming to Reno over the years. Every time it is something different yet I keep hoping for consistency. I have tried everything on the menu I am able to eat and each dish has been worthy of about four stars. My favorite dish is the elk medallions but honestly they have a great selection of options. The Reno downtown area is hit and miss but if you come during the spring or summer outside is gorgeous since the restaurant is located on the Truckee River. I got the blackend bleu and asked for med rare... We did go here for my birthday last month, and while my meal was wonderful my son's was not. He had to send it back. His meal came 15 minutes after the rest of us had finished eating. Horrible experience. Don't go there if you're vegan. I went with a party of six carnists. There was nothing on the menu to order for vegans. The waiter told me the chef would make me a combo of portabellas and veggies, after waiting an hour they brought out a rice dish with soggy salad, and gmo corn, and told me they ran out of portabellas. Then after sending it back I waited another hour while the party I was with got hammered and I was freezing cold and hungry. The next thing they brought out was rotten over marinated veggies and a wilted salad, which I had a few bites and wouldn't even take it home to feed wild rabbits it was so bad. We found a great place to eat in Reno, finally! Overall we were quite happy with the dishes. A few of us ordered the spicy shrimp pasta and it was tasty and the pasta was cooked al dente. They will also make it less spicy for those who prefer it that way. The pork chops, coconut crusted mahi mahi, clams, scallops and crab cakes were all excellant and delicious. My woman and I really enjoyed this place. We broke out of the Casino stranglehold and ventured to the river walk where we happened upon the Wild River Grille. It was late afternoon so we ordered a couple of drinks and some of the best French Onion Soup I've had west of Paris. The environment was casual classy with exposed brick. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and decided to try this place. We made reservations for 7:30 on a friday night and it was a very smooth process. We were given the option of indoor or outdoor seating but since the Northern Nevada region was approaching one it's coldest weekends in months, we chose indoors. If it had been a month or so earlier, dining outside would be fantastic at this place because it is right next to the Truckee River as it flows through Downtown Reno. We were seated right away and the whole place has a industrial look with exposed brick walls, concrete floors and exposed duct work. The hostess was very friendly and Justin our waiter was very helpful. He was very enthusiastic about the menu so it just helps with your dining experience. He recommended the steaks as well as the house specialties and really explained how popular the elk madillions were when I asked. My wife ordered the mushroom ravioli and I chose the elk as I have never had elk before and was intrigued. We also ordered a Wild River salad to share as the way it was described on the menu was got me convinced. It has the greens, apples, walnuts, raisins, cheese. Really good. Our main courses came out in about 15 minutes and they were very good to the eyes as well as the tongue. The mushroom ravioli had lots of flavor and was not as heavy as other cream sauce raviolis tend to be. The elk medallions were very tender and did not have the gamey taste I was expecting. This place did not disappoint and we will be back again, maybe when the weather is nicer and we can sit outside. read more

You will need to wear mask when you enter but can take it off when you are seated. They will give you one if you didn't bring your mask. The waitress is friendly and attentive. Sometimes come here before enjoying a show at the Pioneer Theater, sometimes come to simply enjoy sitting by the river, enjoying their patio area and great fun to enjoy several of the Happy Hour specials. Their Happy Hour Menu starts at 4pm and you have many choices and it's fun sharing a few of these. Great place to sit on their patio and people watch while you enjoy and hear the river. Dinner here is pricey but not when you consider the quality of the meals, the location and the ambiance. You could pay the same somewhere else and not have that same quality and ambiance.
