I wish we had found this place sooner. So fresh and delicious. You won't be disappointed. We got The Willow sandwich on multi grain (packed full of veggies, pesto and hummus), the Nutty Banilla smoothie, and the Deerfield pressed sandwich (turkey, Mayo, roasted red pepper, mozzarella). Everything was perfect. We ate in and while we were there a few people picked up to-go orders at the side entrance by the main parking lot. Nice that people don't even need to go inside for that. Staff still wear masks but customers don't seem to be required to, tho a sign still says you must when not eating. Hand sanitizer is available. If you don't want fresh tea, coffee or a smoothie they have canned apple cider, plain and flavored seltzer water, regular bottled water, and I think some kind of bottled tea. I've always enjoyed the food here. Unfortunately on Sunday Nov 3 around 1pm, my friend and I ordered food which resulted in looseness of the bowels (the skitters, the runs, Montezuma's revenge). We ordered a breakfast burrito and a breakfast bowl (eggs, bacon, avocado). Both were very tasty but alas the experience came with some regret. read more

After getting an eye roll from a different local establishment, this place delivered and then some! I stopped in for a late lunch on a weekday and found there wasn't a long wait (as other reviewers mentioned). The Montague sandwich on Gluten free bread was delicious, as was the nitro cold brew! I also got their chocolate coconut donut to enjoy later. That was good, but more like a cupcake texture than a donut texture. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Second time eating here. Great coffee! Food is fresh, local, organic and really tasty down to the varieties of hot sauce and different kinds of cheese and meats. Homemade breads of all kinds. I had the egg bowl both times, with mashed avocado and bacon. Second time I included spinach, Muenster and after receiving it sprinkled on some of their Kitchen Garden Farm Siracha chili sauce. This place is absolutely delicious. Lots of great healthy fare, as well as some decadent treats. They ship in NYC bagels, and sourdough bread from Boston. They have a daily soup, the chicken orzo was incredible. They have avocado toast. So make sure to go spend all of your millennial cash on those. There's ample parking, but very little seating inside. Only one table, and two counters in the windows. It really is more of a "healthy fast food" to go kinda place. read more

Wild Roots is housed at the former Ben's Service Station in Sunderland near the corner of Route 116 & 47 - remodeled into a funky sandwich + business. ( 40yrs or older to know the Bens reference). This is an order out or order eat-in (no wait staff AFAIK).. but the place is clean. Enjoyed the pressed sandwiches we ordered (at 2PM weekend). The food came a little slow (20min)... at a time with the take-out busy and 1/2 full seating. Consider it average given the state of the world; everyone in service industries is overworked and they're doing their best. Be kind... why wouldn't you be? Coffees were very good. Prices are a bit high for the area as others have mentioned, but not much.. given it's not a true wait staff/sit down experience (with 15-20% tip). Parking is plentiful. Seating - Indoor & Outside People are appreciating outdoor dining more and more, and "roots" has a small 3-4 table dining area outside. We sat inside in October, but we had our choice. As others have mentioned, the inside seating is a little limited (20ish); if visiting alone, there are half-a-dozen bar seats at a bay window facing Route 116. Mount Sugarloaf is just across the bridge down the street, (though you have to strain to see it looking out the windows) Given it's a former service station (the Sunderland site), they tried to make the most of the unique space. The major seating area is in what would have been the garage bay - the garage door kept open when it's warm. Outdoor dining (covered), indoor if you will. A good stop for a sandwich if you can allot enough time for the wait. read more

So glad I finally made it to Wild Roots! I've been thinking about going since it opened but never realized how easy it is to get to off of 91 until now! A great stop for breakfast or lunch when visiting Deerfield, Yankee Candle or heading to Boston. If you are in a hurry you can even call ahead or order online, just as convenient as any drive-thru and 100 times better all around. The menu is diverse enough to satisfy your picky eaters and your more adventurous friends. I highly recommend the avocado BLT. It was fresh and delicious and went well with my smoothie loaded with blueberries and sprulina (and almond milk for you vegans). The atmosphere is cute and comfortable and would be a great spot for a family, couple, or those dining alone to grab a bite. Great little find on Main st. Great service too. There's only two small tables inside, one of which we were lucky enough to get. So many menu items. We stood there for a few minutes before we could decide. I chose the Avocado BLT on multigrain. YUM! My son enjoyed the tempeh sandwich. Said it had a nice bite to it. He also had the Mud water shake and I had the tangerine ginger tea. Both recommended. I work close by so have ordered several times. Every order I have placed has been wrong in a small or big way. The last order I placed the vegetables in wrap tasted dirty and I could not eat it. Ordered "No meat" and it came with bacon throughout - I am not vegan but imagine for someone else that first bite would not have just been disappointing but upsetting. Love this place! Very good food and beverages that withstand the perils of takeout and a 10 minute drive home. They have a well thought out pickup station that eliminates unnecessary interaction, and you don't have to go inside. We've ordered the bacon avocado toast, Amherst grilled sandwich, and the mocha frappe twice now and the results have been consistently excellent. Terrible. First of all, no lattes or similar coffee drinks, and no way to heat milk for coffee. I can't drink coffee without heated milk because it gets cold halfway through. The avocado toast sounded promising but it was so bland I guess the avocado wasn't ripe. I had to return it and get a blueberry muffin which couldn't have been drier. Hard to imagine how their breakfast foods were so inferior to what I can make at home. No oatmeal, no granola, no yogurt, no pancakes or waffles. My partner and I decided to order breakfast online here while staying in nearby Deerfield. It was so good we came back for a second time before leaving! The online ordering was easily done on mobile and the food was ready in about 15 minutes. The pickup is in a little shed to the side of the building, but is clearly marked and appropriately socially distant. Onto the food - we both got the build-your-own breakfast sandwiches. They seem a little pricey at first for breakfast sandwiches, but the folks here do NOT skimp on toppings! Both bagel sandwiches were crammed with our chosen toppings (even meat) but weren't so bursting that the sandwich fell apart while eating it. Light roast coffee was good. Partner got a chocolate chip cookie and I got the chocolate coconut donut as a treat. Cookie was small, but dense and soft; felt almost like eating cookie dough, which I personally love. Donut was INTENSE. Baked rather than fried so it was soft, but full of flavor. Definitely more filling than it appears to be. I was surprised by the quality of the items I received. I ordered an Italian sausage and egg on an everything bagel. I requested the bagel to be toasted and it was toasted... just in a very strange way. The uncut bagel had been toasted whole and then cut so the interior was raw bagel. This burnt all the everything seasoning on the outside while leaving the raw mealy texture inside. There was no seasoning on the dry egg and sausage. Butter was 60 cents extra which is in poor taste. I've worked at restaurants and priced menus- include the cost of salt, pepper, butter and any paper products into the cost of the bread or egg. I had also ordered a blueberry muffin. Pros: it had cinnamon in it which is a great idea! Cons: it was so dry I threw it out after one bite. I ordered the tropical berry smoothie and requested no banana. It tasted like only banana and a almond butter with no berries. I threw it out after one sip. I'm hoping I just tried them on a off day but this was notably terrible. The iced coffee was good and all items on my order were included and ready in the time frame they projected. read more
