This was my second time here, but my first time for lunch. I came with a couple of friends, with the goal of trying their highly praised Duck Fat Burgers, which were rated as the second-best burger in Milwaukee by Milwaukee Magazine. We were not disappointed. It was a Wednesday, and we arrived a little before noon. There were a few other people there, some at the bar and others at the small tables. The place is a little loud, with lots of hard surfaces and music playing. We were greeted by a very friendly server, who seemed to be doing pretty much everything except the cooking. There are a couple of different burgers on the menu, but we all went with the Duck Fat Burger. It is a one-third pound patty, cooked to order. My medium-rare came out exactly as I like it. The combination of caramelized onion, cheese, and thousand island was well balanced. The bun was nicely grilled, and the crunch lasted through the entire meal. The French fries were hot and flavorful, with a very crusty exterior and a soft inner texture. I talked to the cook, who let me in on the secret, they double fry them. With the exception of the noise level, it was an excellent burger experience. The service was very good (thanks, Jessica). I will definitely be coming back again.

Simply, yum. Everything we had was cooked to perfect. The mussels were so salty brothy & delicious. The salad was crunchy and tart with the grapefruit. Beef was perfect. Scallops were lovely. The vibe was relaxed and ambient. Would definitely come back.

Update: The owner must have seen my review and wrote me a very heartfelt e-mail apology. Stuff happens. We will try Wild Roots another time. *** Original: We're visiting from Florida for the Speed Skating US Olympic Team Trials. We made a reservation for Saturday, January 3. Well, surprise, surprise, the owners decided to close from January 1-5 without notifying those patrons with reservations. Wild Roots' loss is Camino's gain!

The place was nice a small restaurant but love the ambiance simple decor. Service was really excellent Jessica took care our us. Food was was American with a Vietnamese twist or is it vice versa regardless. Food was good something different to try if you're visiting the neighborhood

We had a very pleasant evening here! Haven't been back since probably 2019 when they first opened, so I was pretty excited. Casual, cute and romantic vibes. The food menu is not big but has everything from appetizers to entrees and desserts. We liked the flavorful bulgogi meatballs and vegan Thai curry noodles - absolutely perfect to enjoy on a cooler day. From our table we can see the chefs cooking. Everything was prepped and checked carefully before serving. Love love love.

My mom and I visited Wild Roots for Saturday brunch to celebrate a belated Mother's Day. We entered a relatively empty dining room around 11am and were seated right away. The space is cute and inviting, despite weird avocado walls. The flower vases on each table were accented with sweet little origami pieces. Decor was eclectic nature. Our service was solid without being intrusive. The menu is an interesting hybrid with Asian influences prominent in many dishes and many French touches. We started with cocktails. My mom's rum punch was good, but might have need a little extra punch, maybe more citrus. My Whiskey Roots was good - very Maker's forward. Somehow it managed to taste more like Makers than straight Maker's. My omelette was light and creamy and fluffy. It was truly enjoyable and very Parisian. The accompanying roast potatoes were seasoned well and didn't need any additional salt, which is amazing to me. My mother's Croque Madame special was a sight to behold - tall and impressive on the plate. She thought it was excellent. The ham was generous, perhaps even too much, and the sauce as cheesy and rich. The egg cooked perfectly, she really enjoyed her meal as well. We certainly intend to go back and try another meal at Wild Roots.

Called on a busy Friday night and we were able to snag a 5:30pm reservation. Our server was great - knowledgeable and sweet. We had a tiny tin offer for a free app, so we started with the meatballs. Good flavor and nice start to the meal. I had a mixed drink and my friend appreciated the wine list. We both ordered the curry for our main dishes, mine with shrimp and hers with chicken. Again, very fresh and flavorful. I would recommend the shrimp over the other protein choices. Finished our meal with a skillet cookie. Sleek and comfortable atmosphere. Prices were elevated but worth the quality. Excited to return with my husband!

I'm surprised I haven't heard more people talk about Wild Roots! It was a busy little spot Friday night. Small, curated menu with lots of meat and veggie options. The nasty bits were a fun try for the table. Excited to go back to check out their other menus.

This was a special they had.

Incredibly loud and the food was 'just okay'. Service was quality -friendly, helpful, etc- nonetheless.

Great food and wonderful service. Two of us had the trout, one the burger. Both were great.

I visited to check out their wine sections and see if I could find some bottles that aren't normally at IL's Binny's. Upon entering, they have their Cellar Selections on display. When looking at those, the wine manager, Gregory, greeted us. His service was above and beyond in helping us. Their store is organized slightly different than I'm used to with varietals and regions. Gregory helped us navigate where to find the couple of bottles we were looking for as well as make some suggestions along the way. He also offered to print out tasting sheets of the bottles we were purchasing for when we open them to enjoy. It was fun to see the staff pick signs for extra recommendations. We got some great finds and really enjoyed their selections! Tip: Most wines have a "Mix 6" deal where buying 6 or more gets you a deeper discount! Also come on the weekends for tasting samples of wines and liquors!

Everyone was helpful and friendly. We started at the wine tasting table to try what they were featuring for the day. Prior to arrival, you can access events and sampling information on their website. On this occasion, I really enjoyed one of the white wines. We all tried the liquors that they were sampling. I stocked up on my favorite Pinot Grigio. It is made in Italy and DOC. It is called ALBINO ARMANI VIT Armani Grigio and cost 12.99. That is a reasonable price for a PINOT GRIGIO that is CERTIFIED SUSTAINABLE. I can't get this wine in IL. I have tried and they won't ship it to Chicago either. Usually I bring 2 or 3 bottles back when I travel to AZ, CA and TX. Since we were driving. I was able to buy a whole case. Who Hoo, this should hole me over a few months until my next trip west. For other fun things, I restocked on my mini liquors for back home as you can purchase individual minis in Chicago either. Boo!!! All in all, great store. If you buy more than 6 bottles you get 10% off. Check this total wine out.
