Wild rose... I just want to start by saying we have LOVED this restaurant for over 10 years . We make a reservation once a month, sometimes more often . The food is just wonderful . Its such a nice alternative to your average Thai places with identical menus . So why would I give a place I love only 3 stars ? The service The service is so bad . Recently there have been a few signs that the service has gone downhill . Being seated for close to 20 mins before anyone comes to your table, wrong orders, no water or drinks ,etc But our recent experience was SO BAD , that I do not think we will be returning. It was just one screw up after another . The staff is SO unfriendly, and I do not think they care one bit if you have a good dining experience. It has gone from bad to worse If you really want to eat their food ,I highly suggest take out , so you dont have to deal with the staff. Such a disappointment. read more

This place is really good but be careful if you have allergies or any dietary restrictions. We ordered pickup and half the stuff we got had seafood when it doesn't say it on the menu. For example the sweet sausage and rice is made with shrimp, they really need to denote that. Looking at Yelp, I had no idea... but this is a fancy, more family style Thai restaurant. I was in the area for work with an employee and we found this place doing a quick Yelp search. It's also located in an area that is heavily trafficked, so parking is slim to none. Took me about 4 loops before finding somewhere to park. Another thing to note, they require reservations. Not made for walk-in. Luckily there was seating at the bar, so we found the last 2 seats and sat. The restaurant is nice, but the menu caters to larger groups. Doesn't have typical Thai food, like drunken noodles, but a quick chat with the bartender/waiter pointed us in the right direction for something similar. I got a curry style noodle dish, my employee got a pad Thai style noodle dish. I also got the Thai Sunset to drink. Drink was delicious. Food came rather quick for the type of restaurant and it was good. Everything cooked perfectly. My only complaint was that it wasn't spicy enough. A 3 is usually good spice level, but this one tasted extremely mild. Amazing ambiance with the dried flowers on the ceiling. Great and authentic menu, there was a great selection and the food was high quality. The portions were generous, enough for most of my group to have some leftovers. Ka Nar Moo Krob is consistently excellent. I vary the spice level from 2 1/2 to 3 1/2. I have never been disappointed. The amount of pork included is always sufficient and sometimes it exceeds what could reasonably be expected. Service in the house is always very good. If you don't have a reservation, don't want to risk a long wait or not get a table at all, eat when we did-at 3:00pm! The menu is the same and there is no wait. The food came out before my husband came back from washing his hands in the restroom after ordering! We got the popular Khao Soi Curry, with both boiled and crispy noodles, and paid $2 more for the beef brisket. Wow! So full of flavor and a huge bowl we couldn't finish because we also ordered the green curry with chicken. Lemongrass really shines out in this dish, that features eggplant, green beans and some other veggies, along with the protein of your choice. The service is great-attentive and fast! The decor is homey with colorful flowered plastic coated table clothes, like you might see in Chaing Mai. This food is based on family recipes of the owner. Best Thai food I've ever had hands down! Since the opening of Wild Rose I've heard it's some of the best food people have ever eaten. I'm going to have to agree. The quality & freshness of ingredients is perfection, but the flavors!!! I can't even begin to describe the happy and intricate dances that were happening in my mouth as I ate each dish, the food was so impossibly delicious. We ordered the Yellow Curry, Green Curry and PAD WOON SEN with chicken. I think I could eat the Pad Woon Sen every day in my life and never become tired of it. The spice level is on the slightly more spicy side than some restaurants. With Asian food I typically need a 3-4 out of a 5 level spice... here the 3 was perfect. There are multiple side pots to choose from if you want to add a bit more spice and kick it up a notch. read more

Tonight, in addition to our family favorites we ordered the pad woon sen noodles (glass noodles) with tofu (5+/5) and an appetizer neau yang, the boneless short ribs on a skewer (5+/5). Fantastic. Definitely recommend reservations as they are popular with good reason and busy. Even in the coldest of temperatures they have an outside check in for seating. They clearly did a good job of setting the seating up during Covid restrictions with booths that have plexiglass dividers that are still in place and create really nice cozy seating that doesn't feel overly sanitary but more intimate. We had a nice selection of house specialties that included noodles, fried chicken, seafood, and cocktails. All of the dishes were unique but felt authentic and not "forced". Prices were reasonable and appropriate for the quality. Timing of service and delivery to the table was quick but not questionably so. Six years later and this place still rocks. Thai cuisine has some incredible diversity and Wild Rose shows it off so well. They specialize in Northern Thai food and the menu is full of very delicious, authentic dishes that represent the cuisine of this region. We came here as one of our last meals while visiting Bend. We ordered way too much for our small table, but everything sounded so interesting! The highlight of the meal was the simplest dish... cucumbers and eggs and garlic. This dish uses a special type of cucumber that gets cooked to a perfect Al dente, a texture that pairs well with the delicate eggs. We also loved the Thai bbq chicken. The marinade was so deep and herbaceous. It was tender and slightly charred, and went really well with the papaya salad. The menu has so much more. I'm upset I don't get to explore it all and jealous of Bend because you get to have this all the time. read more

We made a big group order when we were in town for a ski trip. It was a Friday night and the restaurant sounded pretty busy when we called. They directed us to their online ordering system, which was super easy to use and honestly pretty convenient for the number of people we had. Everyone got Thai iced teas and various dinner combos. I got khao soi and highly recommend it! Especially for the cold weather in Bend. The order was ready relatively quickly for pickup and they packaged everything up for us in a big box. Updating my review based on my last visit. I was excited to bring my vegan friends here, but two of our dishes ended up with egg and fish sauce in them. Our server insisted he'd written vegan on the order, and said he'd mention it to the kitchen, but didn't apologize or offer to comp the dishes. When we arrived at Wild Rose Thai, we already had high expectations from a dinner there on a former trip to Bend. We had truly enjoyed it before. This time around, we were once again wholly enamored. To drink, we had the "basil smash" and the "Thai me up"--the former was not too sweet and had an herbal flavor with a pleasant medicinal effect (it cured a stomach ache). The Thai me up was a little sweet in a way that complemented the zing from the citrus. To eat, we shared the butterflies, gang om, and pad woon sen, the latter two with tofu & spice level 3 (which was appropriate for spice-tolerant folk -- any more spice could potentially obscure the delicate and complex flavors). The butterflies were light and crunchy with a buttery crab and cream cheese filling. They were served with a sweet chili dipping sauce, that was reminiscent of a classic duck sauce. The gang om was a share-sized soup served over a flame, which had a similar flavor profile to Tom yum, albeit more umami than the classic sweet and sour soup. This was presented with rice, and it had a very nice balance of spices--of which we picked out lemongrass, lime leaves, cilantro, Thai basil, and galangal. It was familiar-tasting and novel all at once. We also shared the pad woon sen, which had delicate glass noodles accompanying stir-fried egg and veggies that maintained their integrity, while being tender at the same time. Tonight the chef's veggies included a seasonal variety of snow peas, cabbage, carrots, onion, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, and mung bean sprouts. There was a subtle char blanketed by the overall umami tones. This dish was very filling, while being satisfyingly fresh. The service was excruciatingly quick--we almost wish we could have waited longer! Be prepared for all your food to come out whenever it is ready (which may be just a couple minutes after ordering!) The ambiance was casual, yet classy. The restaurant prioritized the quality of the food over the superficial presentation that fine dining restaurants typically embellish. We particularly loved all the dried roses draped above us. It felt homey and authentic, reflected by the suggestion of family-style dining. The restaurant was bustling when I got here but despite that they were able to make room quickly from my partner and I. We ordered the basil chicken curry noodles and Tom kha. This place was recommended to us by a local worker at a cocktail bar in Bend. We asked, and he provided us with a place within walking distance. It did not disappoint. It was packed full, but we were able to be seated at the bar almost immediately. Low lighting, nice full high top chairs at the bar. It was backlit and clean. Very nice. My wife and I both ordered the Thai Me Up (a kind of Thai margarita with a plum salt) which was amazing. The bartender told us all about it and gave us some ideas on what to order. We ended up ordering the Curry Basil Noodles with vegetables and a spice level 2. Perfect spice level for my wife who is not big on spicy things. He offered me a "spice tray" with some pickled spices and fresh Thai chili spices. It was the perfect way for us to both get what we wanted. We shared this meal and it was just right for 2 people. Heads up, if you're ordering these it's gonna be messy, so get your napkins ready! I had the Khao Soi Curry, an egg noodle curry dish. The curry was slightly sweet with a nice kick. I've never had an egg noodle curry dish before this one, but I can confidently say it was as good as the rice noodles I'm used to. There's something about the chewy egg noodles that soak up all of the curry flavors that is super unique and delicious. We also got the Moo Gratiem, a basic protein and rice dish, and a safe option if you don't know what to get! Reservations are recommended!!! We came on a Monday with no reservations and this place was packed. The hostess said it would be a 2 hour wait and we were thinking of going somewhere else until a random stranger walked by and said this place was way better so we decided to go to a brewery and come back. This place had a cute atmosphere and very quaint and vintage decorations. There were 7 of us and we filled up the entire bar. The food came pretty quick and the bartender was attentive to us even as he was making cocktails for the restaurant. We all ordered different items. My boyfriend and I opted for the street noodles with beef because we like thicker noodles and the short rib skewers were amazing ! There was so much flavor I could've eaten 10 of them by myself (there were 4 total). The bartender recommended to order the turmeric clams because the sauce and it is one of the popular items and I am so happy that we did because that sauce was bomb! We saved the sauce to put on top of the noodles and it was the best combo. Came here a few weeks ago and I'm still thinking about it. This place came highly recommended to us and we were excited to try. We were seated almost immediately on a Saturday night. The server recommended the broccoli, Curry noodles and short ribs. They were spectacular. This restaurant serves family style so it is nice to try a bunch of things. Will definitely be coming back to try more things but this place sits up there on some of the best Thai food i've had in a long long time. We came in on the first night of our Bend trip. One of our friends in the group has been here many times before and recommended it. They put you on a waitlist and you wait outside until your table is ready. (Which is good, because it wouldn't be comfortable for those eating to have a bunch of people standing just behind them since there is limited space in the front.) Instantly I loved this place. The decor is adorable, even their menu is cute, and their overall aesthetic is just very enjoyable. We got a soup to start and then a few dishes that were all DELICIOUS! We also had a very attentive and helpful waiter. He was nice and although they were very busy we didn't feel rushed at all. I kind of wanted to stop in for another dinner at the end of our trip- it was that good. I also loved how they give you a "spicy scale" so you can be in control of how hot your dish is. I've been to Thai places before where I thought a medium heat would be my medium and it was SPICY, so I loved the scale idea. Decent Thai food. Stopped by on road trip to Yellowstone. Apparently it's good to have a reservation. We got there pretty early so we were able to snag a table but only had 1.5 hours to order and eat because of the upcoming reservation. Som tum: 4 stars. good flavors. Very savory with good umami. Couldn't taste the shrimp though. Good texture with the papaya. Tumeric clams: 5 stars. best flavor dish. Very savory and salty. Have to eat with rice. Basil is a nice touch. Pad La tay- 3.5 stars. seafood with curry. Decent but too much mushrooms/onions/bell peppers. Pad pohng Gari- curry rice and seafood with tomatoes, mushrooms, and onions. 4 stars. Very good in flavor but a little light for me. However the little boss said it was a thumbs up ( except for the mushroom) and enjoyed the scallops. Everyone says to eat at Wild Rose Northern Thai Eats when in Bend, and I can see the appeal after dining here. For anyone who loves Thai food, it's worth checking out, as this is THE spot for it in Bend. Make a reservation! I was so happy to learn that you can make a reservation for this restaurant because it's always insanely busy. The first time we visited Bend, we saw the line outside the door, so weren't able to eat here. But the second time we visited Bend, we planned ahead and made a reservation that you can easily do online. We visited during our reserved timeslot and were able to be seated immediately. What's nice is that all of the tables were divided by a plastic wall because of COVID. The place was busy the entire time we were here, with many patrons waiting for their takeout order or hoping to get in the restaurant without a reservation. The menu had a lot to offer. It took a minute for us to decide what to get, but we ended up ordered the turmeric clams, the kabocha curry and my partner had the gai yang and som tum, which was a plate with half a baked chicken, sticky rice and papaya salad. It didn't take long for us to get our food. Everything was tasty. However, I really liked the turmeric clams the best. The turmeric curry sauce was fantastic and loved the clams soaked in it. The only issue is to be careful when eating this because there were bits of broken clam shell. It also came with sticky rice, to help soak up that delicious curry sauce. The kabocha curry was good; but quite honestly, I wouldn't order this again. I really love curries, so I was disappointed to find that the curry wasn't as thick as I had hoped. It was very watery. It also had a sweeter flavor with the grapes in it, which was different than what I anticipated. I did like the kabocha pieces throughout the meal, but with all that Wild Rose offers, I'd try another dish. My partner liked his gai yang and som tum, but has had this same dish at our local favorite, Thai restaurant and said it was better there. Overall, Wild Rose Northern Thai Eats was a good spot for cuisine that I love, but I would not say this is the best Thai food I've ever had. Especially compared to my favorite Thai restaurant at home, which also specializes in northern Thai dishes, Wild Rose's doesn't compare and it's more expensive. But I'm glad we were able to try this beloved restaurant in Bend, which offers some solid Thai food. read more

We ordered a few appetizers that were yummy, wontons and something with cucumbers which was overly delicious (don't expect a cucumber flavor though as there isn't one). I don't recall the name of my dish but it was really good (Protein: chicken, spice level: 2), had a bit of sweet taste from the coconut milk but a bit of spice in the after taste. Then 55 minutes after our reservation time, we were asked to leave because the table was needed for other customers. Our cocktails had barely been touched. No apology.
