The other day I was considering all of the lovely places in Philadelphia that have closed due to the blow of the pandemic. But places, lovely places like Wilder, NEW places like Wilder give me hope. It's beautiful, with beaded chandlers, lots of greenery, cool art... while also a bit Nuevo quirky, with modern design and interesting layout. We dined upstairs. The tables are pretty close together, but it doesn't feel overly crowded. Our server was attentive but not overly hovering and our food...well it delivered on every level. We started with the pull apart rolls with house cultured ramp butter. They were warm and hearty. I was on the fence about the thumbalina carrots. We ordered them and I think it was one of the best orders of the night. How good can carrots be? THIS good... with shabazi, Bulgarian feta, chermoula and hazelnuts. This was a texture explosion. Creamy, crunchy and bursting with flavor. We ordered the mafaldine alla vodka and the artichoke and yukon potato pizza and shared. Great decision. The pasta was brimming with lumps of crab and the vodka sauce was perfect. The pizza was delicious and the yukon potatoes were sliced thin and really showed up next to the onion and artichoke. Don't skip dessert. It was difficult to decide but we went with the chocolate cremeux. Caramel chantilly, vanilla ice cream, candied cacoa nibs and sea salt. All of those ingredients give every indication of what this dessert was like. Subtle sweetness that was complimented by bitter, creamy, salty and crunchy. It was delicious. This restaurant is so good in all of the ways a nice night out with dinner and a friend and cocktails should be. There is hope after all. read more

A new Philly favorite! There's no surprise the food is incredible when you first walk in. The art on the walls, the green retro seating, and the overall ambiance is spot on. We ordered the oysters, the Malfaldine, the Wilder burger, along with more pasta, and topped it off with the Chocolate Cremeaux. Every single dish was delicious! I'm leaving a 3 star review for my overall experience at Wilder. Had I just visited to enjoy the ambiance, drinks and pizza, I'd score higher!! Their ambiance is a vibe and their drinks are pretty good. I enjoyed their sweet & spicy pizza too! Just didn't care for the burnt crust (are burnt crusts in? I'm not with it). The pizza was the best thing I had during my dinner. So I'd suggest coming to Wilder to enjoy ambiance, drinks and pizza. If you're hungry, their pull apart rolls are something tasty to munch on. Nothing mind blowing but yummy enough as a starter! I saw photos and hype about their pastas, specifically their mafaldine allá vodka and it didn't taste bad, but it was underwhelming. Made reservations for the first Friday Wilder opened. We had to wait a bit after our reservation time but that's expected opening weekend. The hosts were super friendly and apologetic for the wait times. When we sat down, our server was very knowledgeable and welcoming. We ordered cocktails, the sweet and spicy pizza and a pasta dish. I was looking forward to trying this new restaurant and I'm very happy that I was able to get in for a Saturday night dinner. When I arrived, I immediately was impressed by the outside architecture as well as the indoor decor. The front desk hostess was also welcoming and we were taken to our seats on the second floor. I was very impressed since I have a strong allergy and the waiter was told from when we had booked online and was able to tell me dishes to avoid. We tried oysters, a pizza (the sweet and spicy), a vegetable dish (thumbalina carrots) as well as a pasta dish (bucatini Nero). Unfortunately, none of the dishes really stood out and were very memorable. The food was a bit over salted for my taste, but I think I will definitely return again since I see so much promise in the restaurant. Also, the menu that was on their website was not the menu that was served the night we had gone, so do not count on the menu being the same as the listed menu on the website. read more

I will say that this place has very little vegetarian options so if you're not in the mood for pizza and pasta, look elsewhere. However; I had a mushroom pizza (I believe it was a fall seasonal special) and it was absolutely fabulous. Had pasta - cacio y Pepe and it was pretty good. Mocktails are good. It's obviously very pretty and decorated well in there. There's only a single bathroom on the first floor but there's more upstairs. I made reservations for a business dinner and they had a weird rule that would charge me $30 if anyone didn't show up. Not a fan of that policy, since I was only possibly off by one person. Just be aware to have accurate numbers. Otherwise though I had a good experience. Not my favorite place, but a solid one. read more

Took a few friends from out of town here for our first brunch spot in the city. Location is great and you can't miss the sign. I made a reservation, not sure if it's required anymore but our party away but large(7) so I made it anyway to be safe. I had to push it back 30 minutes which wasn't a problem when I called. The decor is really nice, it's a place where you can have an Intimate lunch/dinner! Very spacious too. The menu had variety and not too many options which is appreciated sometimes for those who cant make decisions. The drinks were well made except for the fact that I asked the waitress to add alcohol twice in my drink since it was designed to be a mocktail, I had specifically requested for this exception and needed to remind them twice which was a little disappointing. It took a noticeably long time for food to come out. We didn't even order anything crazy, I had the egg white frittata, someone got the salad (huge by the way!) burger, eggs benedict and a pizza.... sadly it wasn't spectacular for as long as it took to come out. I heard this place opened a few months ago and although the ambiance is cute for a lunch. I'd try after a few more months for them to get more experience since there are a few improvements needed. read more

The best environment ever for any occasion! Been here for birthdays, work events, or a night out. The top floor is a private space that is so cute. Good for a large party. Definitely a pricier spot but worth it imo. My favs are the crab pasta and mushroom pizza. Such unique dishes although they sound typical. Salads were ok. Chocolate dessert also was rich and solid. Booked a reservation to Wilder and noted it was our anniversary dinner, thinking nothing of it at the time because most restaurants seem to forget anyway. As soon as we walked in, the host mentioned we were celebrating an anniversary and our server Jessica made us feel special throughout the entire meal. I ordered off the restaurant week menu and got the pear and burrata salad, malfadine alla vodka, and chocolate cremeux for dessert. My boyfriend got the sweet and spicy pizza. Our server Jessica said they would be bringing out a surprise for us which ended up being the winter squash capelletti I couldn't decide on when ordering, as well as three big scoops of tiramisu ice cream. Went here for my anniversary and they were more than delicious! Not only was the food incredible, but the ambience was nice and our waiter George was great. We got the pull apart roll, tasted like a light air garlic bread -- delicious! I tried the lychee drink and it was very tasty. We had bucatini cacio e pepe and mafaldine alla vodka. My boyfriend said the cacio e pepe was a new top for him, best he's had in the city. I loved the mafaldine -- sauce was good and there was tons of crab meat. They brought out drinks to start and a sorbet at the end for our anniversary which was such a sweet touch. We will definitely be back! read more

I will say, $10 for bread and $17 for five tiny pieces of scallop crudo was pretty insane. It all tasted amazing, but the prices were iffy. The drinks were also great while, again, pricey. Excited to try a brand new spot, we dined here within a couple weeks of opening, sat at the bar (Eric was sweet , funny, personal, rly excellent at his job) and really REALLY loved the interior of this chic thoughtfully designed space. Cocktails were fantastic. The crisis are very small but solid. Not a huge fan of baked oysters I discovered. Their take on a Caesar desperately needed more acidity and sweetness in the dressing. Pastas were excellent. But the stand out dish for me was the foie!!! Do yourself a favor and order one, you might want to order a second portion. Looking forward to returning with a bigger party or more of an appetite to try more dishes, specifically the prawns, octopus burger and steak tartare. Overwhelming number of reviews saying the Barada was underwhelming. Veg dishes could use some sprucing up and refinement, at first glance, but I'm not speaking from actual experience, just none of them really spoke to me and I love vegetables. Aesthetic is classy and eclectic but very tasteful. It's the perfect spot for a date night or a birthday dinner. Pricing is reasonable. Only gripe was the grilled octopus tiny - should be listed under small plates as it is definitely not an entree. Delicious but left me very unsatisfied. For $130 worth of food and drinks I'd prefer not to leave wanting more. Would probably try the pizza next time as I know this is a fan favorite. Overall, an excellent addition to the neighborhood. This was a very memorable meal. I had 2 different cocktails, the spicy tequila drink and the riff on a Negroni. My wife had the vodka watermelon cocktail. All 3 were absolutely on point, super balanced, just sweet enough. My only gripe with drinks and it's one that should be addressed by the restaurant, is how long it took to get my drinks. The upstairs drinks come from a separate mini bar and it legitimately took 15-20 minutes to get each drink. For this reason would give the meal a 4.5/5. All of the food we had was excellent. The sea bass crudo was unique. The margherita pizza very well may be my new favorite Neapolitan style pizza in the city. The pizza sauce is really unique and rich. The pizza had incredible flavor and the crust is perfection. We also had a pasta dish that was really great. Another great thing about this restaurant is the menu itself. I truly wanted to order everything on the menu and that says a lot. I will certainly be back to try more. read more

Fantastic! The drinks were so tasty that it's dangerous and can make me easily overlook that 3 drink maximum. The pastas are delicious and so is the pizza. I wasn't as big of the fan of the foie gras, the went a little too generous with the jam on top and I found myself scraping a lot of it off. I love malfadine pasta and have a hard time finding a place with dish, and Wilder is definitely of one them. The ambience inside is also super chic and perfect for a date night or a night out with the girls. A great addition to center city! read more

Great retro decor. Good ambiance, not overly bright but not too dark either. Service was quick and friendly. Cocktails looked great, but I love craft beer and they had a very well chosen selection of both local and foreign craft beers. For appetizers we had the blackened oysters which were perfectly done and full of flavor, as well as the beet and burata salad, which was really light and well balanced with different flavors. For our mains, we did two pastas: the pansoti and malfadine. The malfadine was classic but perfectly done: a delicious vodka sauce and perfectly tender crab. But the pansoti was amazing: perfectly light and fluffy pasta with an excellent combination of flavors, ricotta and lemon. Desert was every bit as good, a wonderful chocolate moose on top of caramel. Very tasty. We had a wonderful meal and time and will certainly go back. read more

I often start my reviews by stating that I can be a staunch, sometimes snobby New Yorker, and that's true. I was looking for a place to have a business dinner, and I guess because it was Sunday, my hotel restaurant eateries were not open. So I googled and came across this establishment, took a quick gander at the picts so it seemed like a welcome loungy environment perfect for conversation. As I walked in, it seemed far swankier than I had pictured, and I suddenly felt quite underdressed. Not even two steps in the door, this lovely and charming lady named Iola walked up to greet me. Her courtesy, smile, and knowledge were quite unexpected but so incredibly welcome. She went on to tell me about the various dishes, and introduced me to the staff who greeted me as though I was an old friend. The bartender's Dyon, Daniel, and Manny (apologies for any misspells) treated me like an old dear friend as we all went into this wonderful banter. And. if that wasn't enough, they have the most eclectic and unique menu I've seen in a while. Iola's descriptions of the various dishes certainly hit their mark as my business associate, and I dove into the pull-apart rolls, halibut, and mafaldine as entrees framed by the most delicious cocktails and wine. For anyone looking for a unique dining experience beyond the flavor, this now sits as one of my highest choices and I will be certain to partake every time I visit the area. As spring is approaching, a number of new places are opening up in Center City as life returns to some sort of normalcy. I saw that there was a booking available opening time on Sunday and decided to nab a spot. As with many restaurants in the service industry, this place is also a bit short staffed - hence only doing dinner service at the time of this writing. There is a bar and lounge area which I do not believe need reservation in advance. Their cocktails and drinks don't stand out to me, but still enjoyable. Their food is very flavourful with portions on the smaller size. I had a the scallops and seafood pasta and enjoyed every bite. Will need to come back to see more of the decor of the restaurant to try the pizza and when they offer lunch/brunch in the future. Employees are friendly and kind - kudos to Gabe/Gabriel for taking care of me, despite how busy the restaurant was. read more

I came here for dinner, and I thought it was just OK overall. Street parking is hard to find in the area, but there are some garages nearby too. I had high expectations because a lot of people spoke highly of it, but the food itself was just OK. Portion size was average, and neither of the dishes we ordered were particularly good.
