For new American food, Wildflower is a great option. We had take out food during the COVID-19 pandemic and everything we had was incredibly tasty. We shared the short rib ravioli and the grilled shrimp and avocado bowl. The short rib ravioli was a heavier meal and was perfect for a dinner, while the shrimp and avocado bowl was light and incredibly fresh and would make for a great lunch. The cinnamon donuts came recommended as the signature dessert and they did not disappoint, easily one of the best desserts I've had in a while! read more

I've recently moved here and have been to Wildflower more than any restaurant and have never been disappointed. From the cocktail and wine selection to the in house made pasta you can't go wrong. I've had a variety of apps, recommend the calamari and mussels, as well as salads, pasta, and the scallops. This place feels like LA but tastes like a small town in the Midwest. It's a great place to go if you're not planning to eat and maybe you just want to have a bouchée vibe. This is the typical Oro Valley retiree style restaurant, quintessentially bland. The food really isn't good. It seems like perhaps they cater to older folks who prefer their food prepared that way. WILDFLOWER! Our favorite restaurant? Absolutely! We have been customers almost from the beginning. Through that very long time they have been consistently excellent. That sort of statement about a restaurant used to be fairly common, but in our opinion, starting about 2015 so many restaurants seemed to think good, or even just "OK" is good enough. Wildflower stayed consistently excellent during that time. I cannot count the times I have had sat at Wildflower and had Birthday meals, Anniversary meals, meals with family or friends, or best yet, being there for no special reason other than we felt we deserved a tasty meal in a lovely environment. The prices make it easy to see the restaurant that way. Like today (Saturday)...my wife had her hair done next door and when I picked her up she simply looked too beautiful to take home right away...we stepped into Wildflower and found that the lunch rush had not started so we sat at one of our favorite tables on the Patio. One of our favorite servers (Jordan) took great care of us. The servers are consistently excellent. We often see friendly faces, but when we have a new server they amaze us by being just as informed and helpful as the others. Our favorite manager--Justin-- was there too. He always remembers us and treats us like family. We feel something we just do not feel at any other restaurant or business: we feel appreciated. It is clear that every employee there extends themselves far further than most workers at other restaurants and businesses. They really seem to genuinely care. I think this comes from the top down...FOX has high standards but in this case I think it is the boots on the ground that make the difference. More spherically, I think this service ethic comes from Justin. And he doesn't just direct from the top; he also pulls a big load there. You will see him delivering dishes and clearing just to help out his staff. Today he seemed to read our minds, and feel the same way we did. My wife and I were commiserating about the sad state of the world and the upsetting things happening locally and nationally. He felt the same way and like us, fights that trend by simply being kind and caring. Again, this sort of manager used to be common in our world but today, guys like Justin are rare. A special set of kudos: when COVID came around, Wildflower, like all restaurants had a huge challenge. When things opened back up we went as soon as possible and were stunned to find that very little had changed. Yes, there were one or two menu items that they could not serve due to supply issues, but everything they served was even better than before. We have consistently seen them keep this elevated standard. Special recommendations: The Spinach Pappardelle is delicious, the Chicken Salad Sandwich is way tastier than I could ever make, and OMG, the fresh DONUTS are heavenly! Yeah, we like the place. While I have never been disappointed with the food & I am overly tolerant of service, it was truly terrible. I am very pleased to say that tonight was exceptional! The service from Casaundra was perfect! She was attentive but let us have time between courses. She refilled water & wine glasses as needed and was truly a pleasure! I had the winter salad which was fresh & tasty, short rib ravioli (incredible) and the donuts with strawberry cream. Our Saturday October visit coincided with Tucson's annual Sonoran/Unesco nine-day celebration. As with many local restaurants, Wildflower offered a prix fixe meal. For $35/person, each diner had a choice from among several appetizers; several entrees and two desserts. Unusually, theirs also included a glass of house red or white. Distancing was thoroughly observed; patrons were required to mask unless seated; and staff was very mindful of PPE practices. The meal was solidly very good, but also solidly missed excellent this go-around. The shortcomings were: Initial slow attention by staff despite only 50% occupancy - bread and wine took more than 10 min after fully ordering, and dessert took almost as long once plates were cleared. One meal was entirely lukewarm (short ribs on a bed of mashed potatoes) and the other had one of the four pieces of large grilled shrimp that was "rare" in the middle. Three tiny slices of room temperature bread (not warmed) and no offer of a "refill" was disappointing, especially in light of the noticeable delay. The table next to us (i.e., three tables away) sent their salad appetizer back and both the waiter (different than ours) and the manager made separate visits to apologize for whatever had gone wrong. All parties (patrons and staff) were very cordial about the entire event though. The positives - were it not for those marked misses - could have made this easily a five star experience: The dipping olive oil was spiced and exceptional and mated perfectly with the chewy bread slices in spite of their diminutive portion size. The presentation and the flavors of both the kale salad and the calamari salad were outstanding (the calamari was the fav with tender (not overcooked) calamari that was not overly-breaded either). Same goes for the braised short rib and the grilled shrimp/avocado bowl entrees... like I said... sooo close. The house wines were only average and, in hindsight, we'd have preferred the prix fixe skipped the forced house-wine selection and put that extra value in the entrees. We ordered one each of the two dessert choices: homemade donut with berries and cream in a small side bowl for dipping; and a praline, dark-chocolate mousse, aka "bars of sin" with a small dollop of vanilla gelato. The brown-sugar encrusted donut was deliciously authentic - nothing like Dunkin or Kreme but it was a clear second to the incredibly decadent praline/hazel/mousse combo which had the right balance of sweet, salt and bitter. Other than the unexpected gaps in service, the waiter was consummately gracious and enthusiastic. The hostess greeted us warmly and a different hostess gave us personable salutations upon leaving (and both uniquely complimented my SO's new dress... well done!). The optimistic news: everything that took a definitive star away, is within reparable grasp. Parking is easy/plenty/free. Bathrooms are clean, spacious. Booths are plentiful and cozy. Atmosphere is elegant/romantic and medium quiet. Some classical music would have been a final, perfect touch for this upscale venue. read more

Wildflower is nice! I'm a fan, especially of their happy hour. I've dined in the main dining room a few times and that is great as well. Really good food and very nice atmosphere. When it's cooler, the outside area is really nice--those views of the Catalinas are hard to beat! I recently went here with my mom for happy hour--it's one of our favorite go to happy hour places. It's daily from 3-6 pm and they have a selection of appetizers for $6 each. They also offer draught beer for $3, house wine for $4 and sangria for $4. I went with the house red, which was a smooth Cabernet Sauvignon. My mom went with a Stella. We got an order of the crispy shrimp which is fried shrimp, with some fried zucchini and fried onions, served with a creamy sauce. Very good and you get a lot! We also went with the bacon wrapped dates which were good, but I have to say that I've had better elsewhere. Lastly we got an order of the Brie which was what you would expect, but very good. We popped in for a nice little fancy lunch. The restaurant feels very classy. There is a lovely patio with misters, but we opted for indoor air conditioning. I had the paperdelle (they make their pasta fresh) it was fantastic! I don't usually order pasta because the portions are too big, but this was the perfect amount. Wow!!! My husband brought me here for my birthday and Wildflower did not disappoint. Our server, Alex was amazing!! Alex was very knowledgeable, professional, personable, articulate and poised. To sum Alex's service up, it was nothing short of amazing--best server in Tucson. This evening's culinary geniuses provided us with flavorful and decadent dishes beginning with Hamachi & Charred Avocado Crudo. This appetizer was light, but so flavorful. It paired well with a glass of Albarino wine. (Yum!) An 8 ounce pour was perfect to accompany not only the Hamachi, but also the Lemongrass Skewered Scallops! The Lemongrass Scallops were cooked perfectly and served atop of crunchy halved snap peas, arugula and "black rice." I left no trace of this meal on my plate! I doubt you would, either! Of course I sampled my husband's dinner, too!! He had smoked maple porkchops atop perfectly charred brussel sprouts w/bacon and tasty butternut squash. The plate on which it was served, returned to the kitchen absent any reminisce of the delicious meal! Following dinner, I chose to try the Cosmo Spritz. It's my birthday, so why not do it big and sample one of the handcrafted cocktails. Once again, I was impressed. This drink was light/refreshing and not overly sweet. Dare I say it again; it was perfectly crafted! There were so many other appealing drinks on the menu, but it was a "school night" and control was key! Time for dessert!! At this point, you might think me a lush or gluttonous. It's only fitting, I chose to end the evening with the "bars of sin" dessert and a smidgen of Frangelico. WOW!! Praline chocolate cookie & cappuccino mouse paired with vanilla Gelato... This dish is the only one I was unable to finish! The "bars of sin" is a dish I would recommend sharing. The hubby and I will be enjoying round 2 tomorrow night. Bottom line... Amazing food, drinks and service. My husband and I are now committed to trying the menu in its entirety! We had a lovely lunch at Wildflower. Our server, Holly, is one of the best customer care professionals we've encountered in a very long time. Holly welcomed us as first time diners. When she noticed that our table on the patio was unstable, she volunteered to get a wedge to fix the wobble right away. I was experiencing some stomach angst and couldn't eat right away. During this strange time of life where restaurants are only open for pick up, Wildflower has pulled me in! My husband received an email advertising a family dinner promotion last week. We thought every item in the family dinner would be things we would enjoy and we were correct! The dinner was a salad, garlic bread w/ pesto, lasagna and dessert. You were also able to add a bottle of red or white wine for an additional $15. The dinner was insanely delicious and worth every cent! We started with the salad and it was superb! Being part of the Fox family restaurants, which is related to North, the bread is just a wonderful treat! The lasagna was a generous portion and incredibly rich and far better than any lasagna I've ever had. Everything was just freaking awesome! Now the piece de resistance in my opinion was the lemon meringue pie! It was beautiful with the perfect amount of meringue and every bite was pure BLISS for me. We added the bottle of wine and that was a wise decision. We decided on the bottle of white wine and it was so damn good that I looked it up online to see where I could purchase it in the future. I had been to Wildflower once before to celebrate a birthday and it was mind blowing then and still is now. I plan to go back for another dinner for take out in the next week or two! They're currently advertising an amazing dinner for two and I don't think I can pass it up! The food is always excellent when we eat at the actual resturant, but weve be burned about 5 different times ordering from doordash. Steaks and burgers completly overcooked, small portions, missing items - out last order was supposed to come with mashed potatoes and they gave us maybe a teaspoon worth ! After browsing several Tucson Valentine menus, I decided to make a reservation for my fiance's birthday which also happens to fall on Valentine's Day. Their dishes seemed right up my alley. I've had my choices lined up for almost two weeks. In hindsight Valentine's Day probably wasn't a great night to come. The restaurant was (hopefully abnormally) swamped; we weren't getting great attention from our waiter but I understand she had multiple tables to which she had to attend. Every table was occupied. The chairs were decorated with helium valentine colored balloons. I started with the lobster bisque which had only minute bites of lobster meat. It was flavorful and had lots of textures including croutons, fried leeks, and potato chunks. I made the mistake of choosing paella for my entree. The rice was overcooked and soggy and the seafood was rubbery. To their credit presentation of my plate and everything else I saw coming out of the kitchen was great. Finally dessert was the cinnamon donuts which were excellent. I received two including the holes. Not greasy and perfectly bathed in cinnamon and paired with a sweet and tart fruit parfait. This was my favorite part of the meal. So was it good? Yes. $55 prix fixe per person good? Probably not. read more

Absolutely 5 stars all around. Came for a birthday lunch with my mom. We had Frank serve us and he was amazing, such great service even though it was pretty busy. We had the blood orange margarita which was incredible and strong and refreshing. And to eat we had hamachi crudo, Brussels sprouts, short rib ravioli, and they treated me to the banana trifle for my birthday. Everything was delicious.
