Don't let the "vegan" label scare you off. It's not just healthy...it's delicious as well. Beet poke- good Mushroom bao - my favorite item of the night Meatballs - ok The mixed grill - excellent Lemon cake - good I will go back for sure.

Wildseed is a plant-based restaurant that knows what it's doing. We ordered the Fancy Yellow Juice (5/5), pineapple, orange, turmeric, ginger, and lemon, and it was refreshing and genuinely interesting, not just a wellness shot. The food followed suit. Beet Poke (4.5/5) was a standout, with ginger sesame vinaigrette, taro chips, and seaweed salad making it feel truly intentional. Hummus Basar (4.5/5) was bold and satisfying, and the Lemon Poppyseed Shortcake (4.5/5) closed things out beautifully. Skip the Potato Pizza (3/5), which felt flat compared to everything else on the table. Service was attentive without hovering, and the outdoor setting is gorgeous. Wildseed knows how to feed a crowd without dumbing anything down. We'll be back.

Ranks in my top 10 All time favorite vegan restaurants in the country. Honestly I find the Palo Alto location more satisfying, can't tell the right reason... maybe it's a combination of experience with staff, location, and the cozy ambiance. I am a fan of the brunch options and what they accomplished with the vegan food there. I had a great experience for a recent dinner on March 13th, especially because of the kind gentleman serving us patiently with a smile. I wish I remembered his name. We loved the food and huge likes for the desserts , so good!! I loved the vegan feta cheese.. especially... great texture! The salad dressing, the falafel, the chocolate cake and GF cookie, were an amazing!!

So originally the plan with my girl friend was to dine at Teleféric Barcelona a couple steps away from Wildseed but their waitlist was 2.5 hours in a Thursday night! We walked into Wildseed and were greeted with a hello and "do you have reservations?" to which we felt was going to be a repeat of Teleféric but when we said that we didn't they offered us outside or the high table by the entry. We were delighted we could eat inside since it was a chilly weeknight in January 2026 and didn't mind that it was a vegetarian menu. FOOD We had the cauliflower appetizer and the beets tostadas appetizer, both of which were absolutely delicious! We didn't even think about missing meat products which I expected as a person with an omnivore diet. My friend had the orecchiette pasta and I had the tofu tikki masala. We both throughly enjoyed our dishes and even got full before we could finish! I was shocked given it was meatless. The portions aren't small but neither too big. Just right like Miss Goldilocks, the criminal would say. AMBIANCE The place is bright airy and open with a view of the happenings in the kitchen. Always a delight to be able to see your food being prepared because it shows transparency and maintains a standard of cleanliness. SERVICE Our waitress was incredibly friendly and even confirmed that our two appetizer choices were exactly what she recommends to her guests! We definitely "beet" her to the punchline for those tostadas and cauliflower appetizer choices! The women's restroom was out of order that night and the waitress got another male staff member to check that the bathroom was empty before allowing my female friend to use it. She even stayed by the door and chatted with me while my friend was in the restroom to make sure she didn't get a surprise visit from a male guest. BOTTOM LINE TLDR; great tasting food that actually gets you full and feels healthy with friendly staff!

    Hawaiian pizza

Came in for a cleaner light dinner after the cooking class. The menus are all vegan with a variety of drink options including draft Konbucha on tap and mocktails. The bartender was attentive and kind, and the Hawaiian pizza came in quickly after we ordered it. I liked the thin crispy dough, and the vegan cheese tasted good. Good for our purpose (clean lighter meal) but could be too light for other people. I liked my mango yuzu kombucha that came in a beer glass - felt a little boozy for some reasons but I might be just tired - and hope it doesn't have ABV in it from fermentation cause I'm in my last trimester. Will return for a quick cleaner meal option

    MUSHROOM ZEPPOLE

Showed up at around 6:30pm on Wednesday without a reservation and it was pretty busy. We were able to snag one of the high top tables located near the bar. We decided to order the following to share: 1) Wild Mushroom Zeppole - yum! I love mushrooms so this was a good one. Quite tasty. 2) Fries - arrived hot and crispy and served with a chipotle aioli, herb aioli, and ketchup. Can't go wrong with hot and crispy fries. 3) Winter pizza - enjoyed the thin crust and all of the toppings. It was light and full of flavor. We enjoyed all of the dishes. I'd return to try other menu items.

The interior of this restaurant was so pretty! I like how they decorate with plants and it looked clean. Although the food doesn't look too beautiful, it tasted amazing and so flavorful. It was fresh, piping hot, and filling. Our server was nice in helping us order. We came at lunch time on Sunday so there was a 20 minute wait but they put your number down and will text you once your table is ready so we walked around the plaza to kill time.

Another phenomenal experience at Wildseed! This place is so special. This time, it was just my girls and I. We tried many dishes, and the only two I didn't fully connect with were the cauliflower dish and the beet tacos. That isn't to say that they weren't excellent--just not my personal favorites. We had tastes of at least 6 other things, and they were all terrific!!!! An easy five stars for innovative and delicious food plus superstar service. Thank you, Wildseed!!

WINTER PIZZA & ORECCHIETTE ALLA PUGLIESE
    Tiana M.

When I first became vegan, Wildseed was one of the very first fully vegan restaurants I tried, and I've been a loyal customer ever since. I've never had a bad experience here. I come often, and one thing I really appreciate is that they rotate their menu every season; there's always something new to look forward to. This review is for their Winter Menu (December). For the starters; I ordered the beet tostadas, grilled artichoke, and the creamy celery soup. The beet tostadas are my all-time favorite item on their menu. Always flavorful and consistently good every time I order them. The grilled artichoke, however, was a disappointment; the sauce it came with was delicious, but the artichoke itself was difficult to eat. The creamy celery soup was surprisingly impressive. It was velvety, well-seasoned, and the crispy onions on top added the perfect finishing touch. For the entrees, we tried the paella for two, winter pizza, Oklahoma smash burger, masala bowl, and the orecchiette alla pugliese. The paella didn't have much flavor on its own, even with the vegetables but the garlic aioli elevated it and made it much more enjoyable. The winter pizza was the standout entree for me. It had the perfect balance of sweet and savory. The tempeh bacon was delicious, and the cheese really held its own. I'd absolutely order it again. The Oklahoma smash burger had good flavor, but it wasn't anything special. It needed more sauce because the patty was a little dry. The fries, though, were baked to perfection. The masala bowl had good flavor overall. Especially the curry but it leaned a little too sweet for my taste. Still, the shredded carrots and black rice paired nicely with it. The orecchiette alla pugliese was good, but the sauce mostly sat at the bottom of the bowl, leaving the pasta itself on the dry side. The part of the sauce that was mixed in tasted buttery, smooth, and well-balanced. I just wish it had been incorporated better so it could actually coat the pasta. The atmosphere here is always pleasant. It was very clean, and we sat outside where they had heating lamps, which kept everything cozy. The lights were beautiful. I wish I'd taken a photo. The service here was great. The staff were genuinely kind, and we constantly had people checking in on us to make sure we had everything we needed. Our server was especially helpful. Very well informed about the menu, able to answer all our questions, and overall very proactive. The food also came out relatively fast, which was much appreciated. Overall, despite a few dishes that didn't fully hit the mark, Wildseed continues to be one of my favorite vegan spots in the Bay Area. Their seasonal menus keep things exciting, and I'll definitely continue coming back.

    Pom Voyage Spritz cocktail
    Anisha Y.

The food is incredible--rich, creamy, and you'd never guess it's vegan. Even my meat-loving partner, who's usually skeptical of vegan dishes, said, "This is rewriting the narrative of vegan food for me." They offer a rotating seasonal menu, fantastic cocktails, and consistently delicious dishes. The service is excellent, and the restaurant itself is beautiful, filled with plants and a clean, modern aesthetic.

    Curried Chickpea Tartine
    Ashwini A.

SERVICE - located in the town and country shopping center in Palo Alto - parking can be hard to find especially during busier hours - plenty of indoor and outdoor seating - indoor decor is plant themed which makes it feel natural and welcoming - staff are friendly and check in frequently on table - food served relatively quickly - ambiance good for a semi casual meal MENU - cafe menu of small plates, sandwiches, pizzas, and salads - all vegan/vegetarian - average price ($17 for entree) FOOD - curried chickpea tartine (8/10): toasted sourdough topped with chickpeas mixed in turmeric mayonnaise with celery, onion, and raisins and served with chips. This is such a great summer lunch. The tartine is light in flavor yet filling with the hearty chickpeas and crunchy bread. I love the tang of the sourdough paired with the richness of the turmeric mayo. With such a refreshing toast I would have preferred a side salad or roasted potatoes rather than chips. WOULD I GO BACK? Yes! The menu is great for any time of day and the ambiance is welcoming.

The MASALA BOWL , smaller portion size than I would like.
    Shivali S.

This was my second time at Wildseed Palo Alto, the first time was for lunch on their patio in the summer, which was especially nice, I prefer the lunch menu actually. Service has been consistently good here and the ambience is fabulous and upscale which is perfect for an elevated meal out or special occasions with a big group. This is not the best vegan food I've had, but with few and far between upscale-all-vegan-restaurants nowadays, it's a nice place for a special event.

    Joshua L.

Wildseed is the kind of spot that makes you briefly consider becoming a full-time plant-based foodie. Bright, airy, and a little bit bougie -- it feels like Palo Alto's version of wellness meets "let's get brunch. Even my buddy from the Midwest really enjoy the smash burger and was very happy with the Pizza. Every item tasted fresh and the creative cocktails honestly brought a smile on every faces. Totally worth the visit!

As a speakeasy enthusiast myself I definitely agree to the fact that it is "hidden" but also it does kinda give corporate vibes a little bit - maybe we can say they "gentrified" the speakeasy experience which is honestly so funny for Palo Alto. But anyways I don't think a classification should stop you from visiting it. The food is actually surprisingly really good. We came with a pescatarian and honestly while the offerings for snacks were a bit slim, every option was really good. Our server was sweet, and mostly there when we needed her. Here's what we ate: We shared DOUBLE-FRIED TEMPURA MUSHROOMS shimeji & oyster mushrooms, whipped tofu, yuzu, sweet soy, togarashi, chives | $16: 3.5 *. The mushrooms were delicious and so crispy, but not overdone. The "whipped Tofu, etc. was kind of plopped on the side and had NO flavor. I usually find parsnip pureé to sweet, but this one had just the right balance. G got ROASTED MARY'S CHICKEN garlic mashed potatoes, green beans, chicken jus | $34. 3.5* This was a huge portion, like half a chicken. She absolutely loved the potatoes. I think the chicken was just okay, nothing special and the skin wasn't crispy. For dessert we split a butterscotch pudding topped with fresh fruit. It was a wonderful rich creamy flavor, but very tiny - 4-5 oz. I don't remember the price, but I think it was like $20 3.5* On balance, creative, some highlights. Inside you get amazing interior design. My overall feedback is this is one of the rare "fancy" Mexican places that justify the price and justification. Everything is above average in taste and execution. Brunch Tacos mole: chicken mole poblano, scrambled eggs, huitlacoche, tortillas, epazote crema, fried shallots & avocado. Perfect portioning and the salad that came with it had a fantastic dressing. I pulled some chicken out and gave it to my wife and then it was perfect, a bit too overstuff before. The mole and overall taste were quite good though. Chilaquiles: tortilla chips sautéed in chile de árbol-guajillo salsa, topped with queso fresco, cilantro crema, and an egg. My wife loved this so much it made her question every time she didn't order it before. Fried egg sandwich: two over easy eggs on house baked brioche bun, chipotle aioli, avocado, bacon, cheddar cheese, fried shallot. Kids loved this and happily ate the leftover after. Iced Mexican Cafe: delicious iced coffee with a distinct Mexican taste. Distrito Verde: mezcal, basil, lemon, and falernum. Simple but refreshing brunch cocktail, really paired well with the mole tacos. Chips and salsa: These are not free but worth the price. Both the chips and the 2 salsa are of extremely good quality and preparation. Abnormally tasty and the kids went crazy eating it.

We were seated in the bar area at some tables. The bar is impressive. It's filled to the ceiling with different bottles. We felt like we had to try a cocktail to start. Our bartender was great and even went off menu for some of our drinks. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Once we were seated we got some appetizers to get us started. We ordered chickpea panisse, French onion soup, goat cheese mousse, and the apple salad. Everything was delicious. My favorite was the chickpea panisse. It looked like fried tofu, but it was so delicately soft in the center. The aioli that came with it was great too. My second favorite was the goat cheese mousse. It was beautifully presented and a good balance of flavors. For main dishes, we got a variety of things. We got salmon, hanger steak, flat iron steak, and poulet roti. Everything was delicious. I think the flat iron steak was preferred over the hanger, but both were good. I thought the chicken was delicious. It seemed braised with a lot of flavor. It was a generous portion with a large salad. It was very well done. We also got a couple of sides of macaroni and cheese. Those didn't disappoint. They came in hot iron skillets and were hearty and delicious. For dessert we got the mousse au chocolat. The mousse with ice cream was a great combination. The dessert was well balanced. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The staff was great, the food was delicious, and the vibe was fun.

The bar and dining areas inside were completely packed, so I'd definitely recommend booking a reservation rather than simply taking your chances like we did! Enjoyed a Colette (mezcal, lapsang honey, peach, salers aperitif, lemon) house cocktail while perusing the food menu, and we were off to the races. While our high top was a bit wobbly and the surface area not nearly big enough to safely hold all the dishes we ordered, we made it work ;). Our picks: SALADES Frisée & Apple Salad (arugula, pt. reyes blue cheese, pink lady apples, candied walnuts, sunchokes, honey mustard vinaigrette) LES PLATS King Salmon (melted spring onions, delta asparagus, crispy potatoes, citrus nage) Beef Cheek Bourguignon (roasted garlic pomme purée, nantes carrots, pickled red onions) LES GARNITURES Local Asparagus (hazelnut crumble, cara cara emulsion, pecorino) DESSERT Mousse au Chocolat (valrhona "Illanka", chantilly, cocoa crumble) Toasted Coconut Panna Cotta (mango passionfruit compote, coconut tuile) Sticky Toffee Pudding (warm date cake, toffee sauce, vanilla ice cream) 3 desserts were likely overkill, but we had 0 regrets!

We were attended to by four staff members, and while that may sound like a lot, their service was seamless. Every movement felt intentional and unobtrusive, enhancing rather than interrupting the ambiance. The craftsmanship of the food--wow. This Michelin rating is absolutely well deserved. Each dish had such depth of flavor that we couldn't help but murmur "mmm" with every bite. The presentation was, of course, stunning, with flavors that matched the beauty on the plate. I can't wait to return and experience the dining room next. I highly recommend adding Protégé to your "Best of the Bay" list.

Our party went for the a la carte option to order a variety of dishes to share, rather than to be restricted to options. We tried: +the Milk Bread - served with Stepladder Creamery cultured butter and Balinese sea salt +the 'Fish & Chips' - prepared with hamachi, Asian pear, red curry, and pickled jalapenos +Crab and Caviar - with dungeness crab, Protégé reserve caviar, and yuzu sabayon +and, the A5 Wagyu Tataki - with black sesame crackers, enoki mushrooms, and karashi For my entree, I tried the Flannery Beef Short Rib, which was served with sunchoke 'hash', charcoal-grilled king trumpet mushrooms, horseradish, and pimenton; I also tried one's Blackened Monkfish and the 'Peas and Carrots.' Everything was well-presented and aesthetically-pleasing, service was on point, and they checked upon our large party often. The restaurant itself is well-decorated, with nice photographs on the wall; request for the tufted seating, as it's more comfortable. +attentive staff +a la carte and tasting menu offered +reservations accepted
