Went for the BBQ, stayed for the brew. I just got off the trail after a quick 5 mile hike, and no breakfast this morning. Boy was I hungry. I've been meaning to stop in here for the longest time. I love BBQ, (see my reviews). I was just in time for the Buffet (served Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 1pm. This is a great deal as you can try almost every thing on the menu. Besides the Q, the Buffet includes: cheesey scrambled eggs, veggie quiche, fried chicken and waffles, Spring greens Salad, And house made desserts. True to form I had a chocolate covered Strawberry to begin my meal. Followed by eggs, fried chicken and waffles, and can you believe this, salmon cream cheese OMG! After I had "breakfast", it was time for the main course. Buffett style: Pulled pork Chopped Smoky Joe brisket, Pan fried potatoes, and hand cut beef brisket (this must be what heaven is like). All this and coffee included. Can't beat this deal. Best of all is the quality of the food. The brisket had a nice smoke ring and a delectable sweet rub coating. The pulled pork was moist and flavorful. The chicken featured a thick crunchy coating. They also have an eclectic list of craft beers on tap. I loitered awhile to sample a BBC Nitro Coffee House Porter. Pairs nicely with the beef and pork. I won't have to eat again for a week now. read more

Great BBQ close to home everyone had something they loved. Salad eater had the Green Monstah and loved it. Pulled pork was perfectly done. Grilled fish Tacos (mine) were delicious had a great slaw and amazing taste. The steak tip taco was devoured. Sides of candied jalapeño, sweet pickles, corn bread, and rice and beans added to the meal. Great beers on tap love my Cisco Brewers away from Nantucket. Desserts were amazing we got them to go with some bourbon Carmel sauce. Service was quick Order at the counter. They were so nice to my daughter who did not know what to get. Found this place in 2014 and immediately decided they would have to cater our wedding. They worked with us on a menu for our guests and we couldn't have been happier. Our wedding had about 200 people and the food was outstanding! They provided drop off catering delivered hot to our reception spot. We hired someone to be in charge of our food, but it was served buffet style and folks went up for seconds and thirds. It's been almost two years since our wedding and people still ask about our food. Dine in is awesome too! They always have delicious meats, sides, sauces, and desserts. Mixed feelings after eating here. First and foremost, by no means am I a BBQ snob, but there are a few things that need to happen so that I thoroughly enjoy my meal. This restaurant had some of them but were lacking in others. 1. Comfortable Dining: This restaurant is sleak, clean and fairly comfortable. The booth layout is a bit strange due to the spacing, but we loved dining in. 2. Service: Overall, the service here is decent. The cashier was polite and checked in on us. The only downside was the wait time here. Even though we were the only ones in the restaurant when we showed up the food took over 15 minutes to come out. 3. Food: This was the biggest rub. The mac and cheese was incredible, but the sandwiches weren't anything to write home about. The pulled pork and brisket were dry and after waiting so long it was dissapointing to have cold meat on our sandwiches. 4. Price: Two sandwiches, a "large" side of mac and cheese, and tap water for almost $30... wow. For this price we could have stuffed our faces at another BBQ restaurant such as Bub's with endless sides. Overall, we loved the atmosphere and cleanliness but wish there was a little more umph in their product. Maybe we stopped here on an off day, but other friends have made similar comments. read more

Barbecue or Barbeque? We will queue to give you cues. (The correct answer, btw, is "BBQ"). Differentiators: - of the four kinds of sauce they offer, the fourth seems to be a "weird idea du jour". (Apple Pie BBQ sauce?) It's hard to gauge the success here but one must mightily admire the ambition. - Pioneer-Valley style veggie and side options. Yes, I've had fried okra at plenty of BBQ joints. But kale? Oh Brave New World that produces such sides. Spicy rice and beans were excellent. - It's no Bub's as far as the (BarbeQ) Pit and the Pendulum of Hygiene. That may be a downside, actually, depending on how you feel about authentic greasy barbecue. But spiffier than most BBQ places. Meh: nothing terribly special about the smoking/BBQ, the chicken was outstanding but the brisket was just OK (barely). The sauces weren't working for me; not evocative of anything but generic sauce, not a regional specialty or an original creation. The world can accommodate many types of tastes and BBQ joints, and this one is smoother and a bit more "modern" and that just means we have an alternative to Bub's as a go-to from time to time. read more

i've never been so disappointed as last Saturday's food. The chicken was dry, no moistness at all. KFC is better! The ribs were just as dry and the garlic mash potatoes were cold. There is no excuse for this. To leave on a positive note, the cornbread was good. read more

Alll I can say is: BURNT ENDS. I've had many a BBQ but Wildwood's burnt ends are far and away THE best. Just deliciously crispy on the outside and soft and juicy on the inside. YUM. Best BBQ in western mass in my opinion. Staff is always friendly and very helpful. Love the weekly specials!! The wife and I were both drawn to the brisket shepards pie which sounded awsome. It fad a great smokey flavor and went really well with the spicy collard greens. And no the potatoes were not instant!!They have a great beer selection and the dining area is open and bright. If you are hankering for some BBQ, Wildwood is a good choice. I went today and got the half rack and a side of collard greens with ham. Pros: I like the dry rub on the ribs and they were fairly moist. The collard greens could have been a meal in themselves. The greens were substantial and you got enormous chunks of ham in it. The restaurant is nicely decorated and clean. Cons: Don't like the BBQ sauce. It just tastes strange. The ribs were better without it. I think they went "fancy" and fell short. read more

We hired Wildwood to do buffet catering for our camp wedding and we couldn't have been happier with their service, attention to detail and the delicious food served! First off, Glen and the rest of the team were very easy to work with. They helped us, via email, come up with an estimate and made recommendations on what meats to choose. When we came in for our tasting, they were friendly and really helped us cement our buffet menu. We felt super confident in choosing them and they did not disappoint! We had a lot of people with dietary restrictions and Wildwood has so many options to choose from - vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free - which you don't always see at a BBQ place. Finally, their food is so good! We did the pulled pork and the chicken as our mains, and YUM. People came up to us throughout the entire reception complimenting us on the food. House pickles are yummy with a unique flavor profile that makes them a must try for any pickle lover! The bratwurst was great as were the sides, I had the mashed potatoes and baked beans, burnt ends were ok but not worth the extra $ imo. Wildwood BBQ was fantastic from the ordering guidance , suggestions for serving and food selection. I used Wildwood for a graduation luncheon this past weekend and all in attendance agreed it was great. One guest, who is accustomed to Tennessee bbq, said the time , effort and preparation of the slow cooked brisket was obvious. He was impressed with everything, from the brisket, chicken, pulled pork, spicy Cajun rice, mac n cheese and right down to the cornbread! There was plenty of food for the second wave of the event! I tried absolutely everything at the buffet and it was all amazing! Scrambled eggs, awesome! Brisket, awesome! Fried chicken and waffles, awesome! The desserts, awesome! Wow, the meats are very, very good but the sides are incredible. And the lineup of beers is a big plus. The atmosphere dovetails well with comfort food. They got all the details right, a family walkup restaurant but also a clean "BBQ and beer shack" vibe. Our recent visit to Wildwood was not a good experience at all. I had been wanting some good smoked bbq so after seeing advertisements decided to give them try. We arrived on a Friday early evening around six pm. And was surprised to find the parking lot empty. At first I thought maybe they had closed Or taking to go orders only. But another car arrived from the rear parking area so I thought she might be staff. We asked if the dining room was open. She said it was so we went in. There was only one other customer there. We ordered from the counter and sat down and was served shortly after. The side dishes were pretty good but the 1/2 rack of ribs we each had was nearly meatless hard, dry and certainly not recent cooked but hastily reheated and did not have the smoky flavor I expected from a smokehouse. I left there still wanting some good bbq. Not to be had here. This helped explain the lack of customers on what should have been a busy night. Will not be returning will certainly not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Ownership has changed and so has the service. Food is reasonably okay for the Pioneer Valley but the service sucks. Waitresses are rude and act like you are doing them a favor when you make an inquiry about your order. This is the last time I give this establisment my business. ...so done! read more

We went to Wildwood for dinner last night, without intentions to do so, but there it was another BBQ joint. I have to admit that I was pretty skeptical, because while sitting in the parking lot, I looked up a review, in which someone compared Wildwood to being in the same subpar league with Bub's BBQ. Let me start there, it's difficult to even describe Bub's as BBQ......it doesn't really fit the name. See my Bub's review for my thoughts on that. Wildwood however, has a number of high points, and one disappointment for me. We had pulled pork, ribs, a taste of the beef brisket, garlic mash, mac and cheese, and cornbread. The pulled pork, garlic mash, and mac and cheese were smokin'. The brisket was good, but could be pulled into great with maybe a lower smoking temp and longer smoke. The ribs had a very nice smoke flavor, but they were a little dry and tough to remove from the bone. I think these would serve from a lower smoke temp and longer smoke too. They would be quite tender. Now for the cornbread.....My family has southern roots, so when I have tried cornbread in the northeast, I don't usually find any that hit the mark. Not sure what it is on this though, I should ask about ingredients. Finally, we had the carrot cake, and that was phenomenal. I also need to give a shout to the owner, who stopped to check in at each of the patrons tables............nice touch.........reminiscent of Holy Smokes.......hard to touch that place for anyone, but this place is of the best BBQ in the valley now. The barbecue is honestly far better than other places around, especially if you're looking for the better food, not the "damn good BBQ joint" thing. My credentials here: family in Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, lived in Oakland for a decade. You like chocolate on your chocolate? Go to Wildwood for the dessert selection alone. Owner/mgr cares a lot, and this place is going to do well. The cuisine is way up there. I'll be a regular here, and choose it over Bubs 8 out of 10 times. What about that last star? Great BBQ eats to be had here! Upon a recommendation we found this new BBQ joint and was pleasantly surprised. The inside is out together nicely and offers seating for 20-30 people? Several beers were available on tap as well as wine. Outside there is a large outdoor eating area with pick-nick tables. There is also 3 parking spots reserved for those picking up there food. We ordered a full rack of ribs, which came with 2 sides and cornbread for $23. This was more than enough for two people to share. We had potato salad and BBQ baked beans. The potato salad was excellent as was the beans. The cornbread was awesome. Moist, soft and flavorful. We also had a side of chilli which was very good with a nice kick. Also ordered was the mac and cheese which again, was also excellent. I haven't mentioned the ribs yet. The ribs were flavorful and moist, and although I did enjoy them they are not my favorite. I prefer a rib with meat that falls off the bone but I guess thats just a different style. All in all this is a great choice for BBQ, mabye your only in the area, but you certainly cant go wrong. Looking forward to another visit to try the pulled pork and chicken. read more

The service and the food were just OK. The pulled pork sandwich was average. It would have been nice if I didn't have to pay extra for a side (the pickles were tasty but I wouldn't classify them as a side). The biggest disappointment for me was the brisket. I love brisket and it should be moist and tender enough to cut with a fork. This wasn't the case at all. I found it dry and tough. It didn't taste slow cooked at all. Disappointed. The stuffed pepper was good. It was stuffed with brisket and was loaded with cheese - tasty enough to overlook the dryness. The beer selection was good. Next time I'd rather go to Bub's. Much better BBQ and sides. read more

A very average experience. The atmosphere is great, the BBQ sauces are decent, but the food is very mediocre. Definitely not worth the money in my opinion. Some of the food was cold. Bland flavor. The baked beans were not good and not cooked all the way. We won't be going back again. read more

I've tasted better barbecue in both more and less 'formal' restaurants. I've had better Pulled Smoked Chicken, and much worse. Barbecue sides are fairly standardized and I've had great ones and those leaving something to be desired. Wildwood was good, not great, set in a very informal but comfortable environment and all things considered, served its purpose. The pulled smoked chicken is tasty but not stand-out. Sides were good, fresh at the least, but not delicious. I see a lot of potential at this barbecue joint among few but need to try Bub's for a better point of comparison. I'll return but with a different barbecue in mind. read more

We are a couple who love to try different foods. Mark and Lori want to thank Eva for her wonderful hospitality . Her smile made us feel right at home. The food was delicious and smoked to perfection. We just visited Wildwood for the first time, and will definitely be back. It was a Friday night, and pretty busy. I had the pulled smoked chicken. It was tender and sweet just on its own, but I tried a variety of the BBQ sauces on it as well. I liked the BBC Coffeehouse porter sauce best. The sides of cornbread, mac & cheese, and baked beans were all great. The beans were delicious, loaded with onion, bacon, and bits of pulled pork. My husband had one of the specials, pastrami shepherd's pie, which was also very good. The restaurant is set up so that you order at the counter and then seat yourself. The dining room is small and crowded, one of the few downsides. It was hard to navigate, especially when carrying plates and beers. I do see that they have outdoor seating set up for warmer weather, although the tables seem a bit far from the restaurant- curious about how they work that. The staff was all very friendly and service was fast. The only other issue we had was that the dining room would periodically fill with smoke from the kitchen. My jacket still smells like a campfire. This is a good new restaurant in the area, and I think they will do well. The positives definitely outweighed the negatives, and we look forward to eating there again. read more

The idea of their brunch is great, I love BBQ and a brunch buffet is awesome- but their food is mediocre at best and the service was decent. I really expected a lot more. They didn't even have orange juice for the mimosas that they advertised. If the food was good then I'd honestly write all the other things off and come back, but I genuinely wasn't impressed and expected better. Going to a buffet I expect to want to eat more than one plate, but it wasn't even good enough to go back up for more. - upsetting because I was really excited to try this place out. read more

Great vegetarian options, good really hot barbecue sauce, great service, good atmosphere and all-around great place to go. This is a solid four, definitely more deserving than the 3 1/2 stars that it has. We got a bowl of chili with cornbread, Mac'n'cheese, and the vegetarian special. Both of these were quite good, though a little bit dry. If you are looking for a traditional barbecue place, go to Bub's. This is much more of a New England friendly approach - for example, the sweet tea tastes like iced tea that is sweetened, as opposed to a cup of sugar. We really appreciated that! Decent, but nothing to write home about is how I'd describe our lunch today. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich and I had the brisket. My son had the kids hot dog and my daughter the quesadilla. With eight different BBQ sauce options, things looked promising. The regular and spicy were good, while the Asian and Tandoori sauces seemed out of place. The cocoa and coffee sauce was the most unique, but a little too forward with the chocolate for my tastes. Oddly, it seemed like the kids got more food than we did. Theirs came with one side plus cornbread. The sandwiches we ordered came with just a few pickles. The pork was pretty good, while the beef had a nice smoky flavor but not a lot else going for it. Seemed like salt was missing, which was also true of the cornbread. Since my daughter had no interest in the sides, I ordered her the collard greens so I could try them myself. They needed a splash of vinegar right before serving them to brighten up the flavor. I admit I'm spoiled by some seriously good Texas BBQ from where we used to live, but I think there's room to grow here. As long as Wildwood keeps experimenting and perfecting their craft, they'll probably end up pretty good. read more
